Although I've purchased the E45 that comes in the pump bottle as well as the E45 that comes in the squeezable tube, and both are good, the truly great E45 comes in the tub with the lid that one dips into. It's thicker and provides the longest lasting relief of the group. I'm a transplant to the UK, and it reminds me of Eucerin in the US. I have seen Eucerin here at some high end shops, but E45 is the affordable, made-in-the-UK option. I agree with earlier comments that you would not put this on your face. I am surprised about the high concentration of paraffin in the ingridients, but if it works, it works.
Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Green People OY! Cleanse and Moisturize
rutabega 1/21/2010 3:22:00 PM
I'm pregnant and have been looking for a product that is safe and can help me control my acne. This is it! I became a little paranoid when I did some intensive internet search and a few random websites were wary of willow bark use during pregnancy. So, I emailed Green People who noted that this has been tested and the product is safe for pregnant women. Which, is great, because it's been terrific. I would argue that the premise that it is 3 in one (a cleanser, makeup remover and moisturizer) is bogus. At 9 Great British pounds (circa 15 dollars US) it's a little too pricey for me to treat as a cleanser or makeup remover. But, as a moisturizer, I think it's great. It keeps my oiliness in check and seems to help with the healing process with blemishes. I highly recommend this. I've found Green People products at a few health food stores, but the OY! (Organic Young range) seems to only be available on a few websites. Even then, it is worth shopping around because some offer better deals than others...
Meh. Pros: It lasts longer than most inexpensive mascaras. On my oily lashes, it's still there after an 8 hour day with only one or two coats. Cons: I don't really get much length out of this mascara. I'd say that my lashes look stumpy with it! But, it's a fine daytime mascara. I won't throw out what I have. I just won't buy it again... what annoys me is that I got this BOGO, so, I have two tubes to get through!
Gels/Soaps -Dove - Moisturizing Body Wash - "Deep Moisture"
rutabega 1/21/2010 2:34:00 PM
I would say this is the best of the affordable body washes. Even better, this turns up on sale often enough that I buy it regularly. Although I have sensitive skin and my skin cannot handle many perfumy products, this works well. I like how moisturizing this is and I don't have to rush to get a separate moisturizer on right after I bathe. Sometimes I can even skip the separate moisturizer!
Styling Products -Alterna - Hemp Seed Straightening Balm
rutabega 1/16/2010 4:32:00 PM
This is a great product and did not make me break out--while other straightening products did.
Styling Products -Matrix - Sleek.look Lite Smoothing Cream
rutabega 1/16/2010 4:29:00 PM
It does what it promises to start. Initially, it works well. Although I thought this was a good product for a while, I became prone to break-outs in the forehead area underneath my bangs... and it's just not worth it. I prefer Alterna's Hemp Organics Straightening Balm.
Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HIP Cream Shadow Paint in 807 Secretive
rutabega 1/16/2010 4:20:00 PM
This did not last long on my lids and I did not find it an effective base. The brush and the plastic box were a waste of packaging. There's not really that much product.
Eyeliner -L'Oreal - HIP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner in Brown
rutabega 1/16/2010 4:17:00 PM
I love this eyeliner. It lasts all day. It is darker than the appearance on the package. Keeping the eyeliner brush clean is a pain in the butt, and it is better to wash it immediately as it can cake on, which is a result of the drying out factor noted throughout these reviews. But, keep the cap on tight, and it will not dry out too quickly.
Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Jo Wood Amka Eau de Toilette
rutabega 1/16/2010 4:11:00 PM
Meh. It's a nice daytime fragrance that I would wear at work or during the summer. It did not last long on me. Perhaps layered on the VERY expensive body oil it would last longer? I won't bother trying that route, however. I prefer Jo Wood's partner fragrance Usiku which is spicy and longer lasting.
Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Green People - Fruitful Nights
rutabega 12/2/2009 2:53:00 PM
I am in my 30s, but acne-prone, particularly as a result of hormones. I did not find that 'fruitful nights' provoked my acne. It is not a daytime moisturizer, however. I would not describe it as greasy, but I would say that it is thick. I think the effects the next day are reasonable. It leaves the skin firmer. I would probably buy again.
Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Green People - Oy! Face the Sun SPF 15
rutabega 11/28/2009 6:19:00 PM
50 ml is not a lot of product. But, overall, I like this sunscreen. I've been using it for about 4 weeks. It is not a moisturizer, however. It can be somewhat drying. But, I do not feel that it aggravated my skin in any way. Overall, it is beneficial. Although it has a lavendar scent to it, and I am usually sensitive to scents, the organic nature of the scent seems allows for forgiveness. I have recently purchased other items from Green People and will post other reviews.
Deodorants -Unlisted Brand - Lavilin Deoderant Cream
rutabega 11/21/2009 4:19:00 PM
I have been using Lavilin for about a year. I will likely keep using it. I find that it works well. It has no harsh chemicals, so I feel like I'm doing something positive. Unlike the crystal deoderants or liquid roll-ons, you rub this in and that's it... you are less likely to get marks on clothing--out of wetness or whiteness. I am a swimmer, so I reapply more often than the average person--but I would do that with any deoderant. I like the very mild fragrance. It is expensive... I've seen it for $15 in the health food stores, but for $9 online.
Studio Tech Foundation is probably worth it. It lasts several hours. But, with my oily skin, my face can feel quite greasy at the end of the day. After a week of use, I have not broken out as a result from the cream. But, I should probably use a powder to set this and perhaps to touch up later in the day. I agree that it's probably not for hot summer weather. Probably high 70s Fahrenheit, and you're good. 80s, and I would not use it. I've seen other, cheaper brands use the same packaging, And, the amount of actual product is not really enough. Probably enough to get me hooked, but... I'm not an absolutely devoted MAC'er...
The mascara disappeared 10 minutes after application. With a foundation primer on my eyelid the eyeliner does last. I don't mind that it went on so wet. But, I do admit while drying my hair, I closed my eyes and pointed the hairdryer at my eyes (on cool setting)! The mascara was disappointing enough that I won't buy this again...
I do not use the entire three step system. But I really do like the cleanser. I use moisturizer after washing with this and feel good to go. Definitely helps to keep my acne in check. It is hard to find a way to buy this separately. I was curious where people go to get ahold of it. I am buying it on ebay right now.
