I love this product. I always seem to have chapped lips. This stuff is amazing. I use the one in the squeexy tube applicator instead of the pot. I keep one in my handbag and I keep one beside my bed at night. Brilliant!

Moisturizers -Olay - Complete Moisture Cream Sensitive SPF 15
rated 4 of 5
rubyred23 2/5/2013 11:16:00 AM

I go back to this moisturiser again and again. Every now and again I feel that I should be investing more in a "higher quality" day moisturiser (because my skin has always had a problem with dryness/flakiness in winter) however, I have yet to find a day moisturiser which is as reliable a sthis good old olay one! I wear foundation every day. This moisturiser provides an excellent base for makeup. I don't find it too greasy/heavy/thick like some other cheaper moisturisers I've tried. I don't find that my makeup starts to clump with the moisturiser and flake off my face in tiny little lumps. (This happened to me with a l'oreal day cream which I threw away immediately!!). I love that it has SPF as I feel I'm doing my skin a favour (not that I need worry to much considering we don't get much sunshine in Dublin!!) I like that it is fairly cheap. It's a bit less than 10€ in my local boots. It's my go-to daily moisturiser! :)

Cleansers -Origins - Clean Energy Cleansing Oil
rated 5 of 5
rubyred23 2/5/2013 10:57:00 AM

I am on my second bottle of this cleansing oil and I now consider it my go to cleansing product. Previously I used the yellow shu uemera oil but I decided to switch to something with natural ingredients instead. I have to say that I LOVE this product. I use it every night to cleanse my face and remove my makeup. I wear foundation and mascara everyday and this definitley removes the makeup and cleans my skin. I put the oil directly onto my face and then massage it gently into my skin. Then I add some warm water to create a foamy lather. Then I dampen my face-cloth or linen cloth and gently massage until I feel all traces of makeup are gone. I love this product because it doesn't dry out my skin and all the ingredients are natural. This winter I have not had problem dry/flakey skin. It's the first winter I can ever remember not having horrible problems with dryness and tightness and that is amzing considering it has been a bitter winter in Ireland! The only thing I've done differently this year is to switch my cleanser!!

Treatments -Clarins - Santal Face Treatment oil
rated 4 of 5
rubyred23 2/7/2012 10:55:00 AM

I recently bought this product after reading the excellent reviews here on MUA. I have fair skin that has been incredibly dry and flakey during the winter months. My forehead and cheeks were feeling like sandpaper! I have used it a few times after cleansing before bedtime. It is greasy but it absorbs well so that, by morning, there is no trace left. It felt nice on the skin. Lately I have noticed broken capillaries near my mouth and on my cheeks. This is pretty upsetting and I think it's my own fault for using abrasive scrubs on my delicate skin. I'm really hoping this oil will help reduce the broken capillaries! Anyone have experience with this problem? Thank you.

Moisturizers -Lancome - Hydrazen Neurocalm Soothing Anti-Stress Moisturising Cream
rated 3 of 5
rubyred23 1/26/2012 10:06:00 AM

I bought this recently because my skin has been looking and feeling really dry with horrible flakey patches. I don't think this moisturiser was worth the 50€ I spent on it. I was so eager to find something that I let the SA talk me into buying it and I quite like lancome makeup and trust the brand. He said to wear it morning and evening. I probably should have looked a bit harder in my quest for a good moisturiser because, as another reviewer pointed out, there are loads of nice moisturisers out there! The SA also gave me samples of the genifique youth activator for application with the moisturiser. I didn't find this great and I don't think it made much of a difference to the dryness. Also I ahve noticed that after the shower when I apply the cream, my face sometimes stings slightly around the nostrils and cheeks. I was surprised that an expensive product would cause my face to sting. Usually its just the cheaper moisturisers that gives me those issues All in all probably not worth the money and I will probably try something different when I finish this pot.

Mascara -Giorgio Armani - Eyes to Kill
rated 4 of 5
rubyred23 1/26/2012 9:55:00 AM

I was given this by mu est friend as a birthday present. She knows how I'm alwasy searching for a great mascara and it is hard to find a really good one. The Giorgia Armani Eyes to kill is really nice and definitely makes them a lot thicker. I have been using it nearly every day for the last three months and it does a good job. I have tiny lashes (so short that beauticians comment on them) and this does make them look longer but not is not extremely good for lengthening. It is better for the volumising effect and elongating the lashes. It doesn't give annoying spider lashes either. The package is pretty and I probably would buy it again.

Foundations -Yves Saint Laurent - Perfect Touch Radiant Brush Foundation
rated 4 of 5
rubyred23 1/26/2012 7:08:00 AM

I have been using this foundation on and off for about 8 months. I normally wear it to work and at the weekends for day-wear. I have to say that I really like it. I wear it in shade 7 which is probably slightly too dark for me as I am very pale but I just make sure to blend well and apply bronzer to make neck. I like the coverage this foundation gives. I would describe it as medium coverage and it's possile to build it up. I have dry skin and I don't find that this foundation adds to my dryness though I'm not sure I'd call it hydrating. As far as lasting power is concerned, I'd say that it lasts the who day but it is not something that will last into the late hours. It does tend to fade as the day goes on. The brush is a bit annoying though so I would just squeeze it on my hand and use my fingers instead. I like the finish this foundation gives and so I wear it very regularly. I also get compliments on my skin when I wear it. I would definitely buy it again. It's expensive enough but you get 40mils in the container which is good.

Cleansers -Shu Uemura - High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil Advanced Formula
rated 4 of 5
rubyred23 1/26/2012 6:54:00 AM

Recently on a trip to London I went into Harvey Nichols and requested samples of some of the shu uemura cleansing oils. I had been reading amazing things about this oil and a friend recommended me to try it out. I wasn't sure which one to try so I spoke to the SA. She was so helpful and really imformative. I described how my skin is generally dry and flakey between the eyebrows and also flakey and tight on the cheeks nearest the nose. I am also prone to a lot of break outs on my chin. The SA gave me about a dozen samples of the classic high performance balancing cleansing oil of advanced formula. I was thrilled because in Dublin there is only one store which stocks the shu uemura range and they are not at all eager to give samples. Anyway, I have been using the sacets for about 5 days now and I have to say I am SOLD. I liked it so much that I went back yesterday and bought the oil in the limited edition travel kit. I wear foundation everyday and so I need a cleanser which removes makeup and leaves my skin clean without drying it out. I have never had much luck with cleansers before now. Usually I would opt for a cream one which I could tissue off but I found that those ones don't really clean the skin that well and clog pores. I find foaming cleansers are often too harsh and drying. I'm so happy that this one actually leaves my skin feeling soft and not like it is going to crack! I deduct one lippy because I have noticed that there is sometimes a slight trace of makeup left on my face (around the hairline). This could be my own fault though as somtimes I am a bit hasty and may not concentrate on cleasing those awkward areas around the hairline. I think that perhaps it might be necessary to invest in one of their toners. The SA I spoke to recommended the Depsea moisturising lotion. For now though I am really happy with the cleansing oil. I am noticing that my makeup is gliding on a lot easier in the mornings and I have less visible dry patches already! This stuff is really as good as they say and it is so great to try a product that actually lives up to its reputation. On the downside, it is not cheap at all and I think in Dublin the smaller bottle of oil is about 35€. It is probably wiser to invest in the 450mil bottle as it is about 68€.

Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere Aqua
rated 3 of 5
rubyred23 1/17/2012 9:31:00 AM

I like this foundation. It is quite light and goes on well. I bought this in Dublin airport last September when I was on my way to France for a sun holiday. A friend recommended it to me. I felt like I needed something nice and light to wear on holiday and especially because I knew France was going to be quite warm. I didn't want to wear my everyday heavy foundation so this worked out wonderfully. It is very youthful and light and perfect for a "barely-there" look. When I came home and returned to work I continued to wear the vitalumiere every day. It gives a very natural finish and it matched my skin tone well. However, I am prone to breakouts, especially around my chin. I get nasty white heads which I inevitably pick at and cause them to become red and inflamed. This foundation doesn't cover breakouts like that. So soon after I had to revert to my normal foundation. Vitalumiere is perfect for somebody with relatively clear skin. I also think it is lovely for young women. I probably won't buy this again simply because the coverage is too light for me.

Skincare - Body -Elizabeth Arden - 8 hour cream Skin Protector
rated 3 of 5
rubyred23 6/1/2011 6:42:00 AM

I have to give this product a really average review. My brother gave me a present of this (mine came in the long squeeezy white tube) for Christmas. I was really excited because I had heard great things about it and it's such a cult product. I know it is multi-purpuse and supposed to be a great facial night moisturiser but I get really dry chapped lips, especially in Winter so I used it mostly on my lips. Unfortunately, it didn't really help with the chapping and cracking and I found that it doesn't absorb well or last long. If you eat or drink it's gone straight away. Then one day I heard a tip to apply it to lips before showering and it combines with the steam of the shower to work like an intensive treatment for lips. I tried this and I have to say that my lips felt great afterwards. I carry the 8 hour cream in my handbag anyway as it's pretty handy. I might buy it again but my go-to lip care has to be the original carmex I've yet to find something as good as this for healing sore lips.

Treatments (Eye) -BeneFit Cosmetics - It's Potent!
rated 2 of 5
rubyred23 6/1/2011 6:09:00 AM

I have been using this for about 6 weeks now. I mainly apply it to the round my eyes after cleansing my face at night time just before bed but I often use it in the morning as well. I can't say I have noticed much of an improvement really. I often have puffy, slighlty swollen eyes in the mornings when I wake and this product doesn't do much for this ailment! I don't see any difference to dark circles and I don't think it is fading my fine lines at teh corners of my eyes. The product was very expensive and the container is tiny. I think it was about 33€! It probably will last quite a long time though as the sales assistant advised to only apply a little bit of cream every time. I had been looking for a good eye cream and I gave into temptation to try something a bit different in a pretty package. It wasn't worth it and I won't be buying it again.

Liquid -Estee Lauder - Double Wear
rated 4 of 5
rubyred23 5/31/2011 11:19:00 AM

This product is a gift from heaven! The finish is absolutely perfect and really gives a flawless look to the skin, evening out all the little imperfections and enlarged pores, blemishes etc. When I am applying it, I find it sets quickly onto the skin so I have to be quick with the blending otherwise it is easy to get a streaky look, espectially near the jawline. I don't need a powder to go over it as I have dry skin anyway. I have been using the double wear on and off for a few years now. I mainly only wear it for nights out or on days when I know I will have a VERY late evening ahead and need to look fresh from early morning right through to the early hours of the NEXT morning. I can vouch that the double wear is exactly the foundation to do the job. The only draw-back is that for me - having dry and sometimes spot-prone skin - prolonged use is not at all good. In 2008 I wore it everyday for three weeks and by the end my skin felt like sandpaper. Now, I just use it sparingly and rarely two days in a row. In all, it is great though and I will always use it for an occasion.

Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - Cocoa Butter Formula Moisturizing Body Oil
rated 4 of 5
rubyred23 5/31/2011 10:58:00 AM

I bought this product recently as I am always interested in sampling body moisturisers that are reasonably cheap but effective. I get dry patches on my arms, thighs and back and I had heard that argan oil and moroccan oil are brilliant for dry skin. The only problem is that those two oils are very expensive and actually really difficult to source in Dublin, where I live. Ultimately I went for the palmer's cocoa butter oil and I am REALLY happy with the results. My skin feels great and I only really need to use it once or twice a week max after showering. It dries in quickly and doesn't leave a lot of residue. I would definitely recommend this product to anybody looking for a budget moisturising oil. The only draw-back is the packaging because the bottle inevitably gets oil all over it. However this would not stop me from buying this product again.
