Moisturizers -Simple - Light Moisturiser
rosiexox 5/11/2012 11:41:00 AM
I used this product for ages, after recovering from my teenage skin, this seemed to give the perfect level of moisture, since I needed to give my skin some oil, but didn't want to overload it and break out. It worked well, it didn't irritate my skin, which is good because my skin is fairly sensitive, and it didn't make me break out. I started to notice a problem with it when I took it with me on holiday. The warm weather must have heated it up because it started to smell really funny (like playdough) and absorb into my skin as well (it had only been open for 3 or 4 months so it hadn't gone off). Also, if I had quite a bit of oil on my skin (my skins usually more on the dry side so I never noticed this before going away) it wouldn't go into my skin as well. I then bought another bottle when I got back to England and the same thing happened again, and this was from being left on a windowsill and being warmed up by the sun - when I say warmed up I mean only a tiny bit, that window gets max 20 mins of sun a day when the sun is setting. Anyway this annoyed me and I haven't bought it since. Another thing that I didn't like about it was that I could feel it on my skin even after it had absorbed fully. It just left a weird texture. The main reason why I stopped using it though is that my skin seems to have become much dryer in the last year, and this just wasn't cutting it any more, I needed something heavier. However, despite this review seeming kinda negative, I do recommend it if you have sensitive skin that's not very dry. I think it's best suited to teenagers aged about 16, after getting over the oily stage that most of us go through it can be good to have something like this as an inbetweeny stage while your skin works out what the heck it's doing. Oh, and another good point is that it's good value for money, you get a lot in a bottle so it lasts for ages - or at least until it warms up.

Mascara -Boots - No. 7 Exceptional Definition Nutrient Enriched Mascara
rosiexox 5/11/2012 11:26:00 AM
This mascara was okay, not brilliant but it did the job. The main problem I had with it was that it dried up too quickly, and it's not exactly cheap so that was a bit annoying. While it was fine at first, after a couple of weeks I noticed that throughout the day it would flake off into my eyes causing a bit of mild irritation. I quite liked the brush, I found it easy to apply the mascara to the outer and inner corners of my lashes without getting mascara on my face. The brush also gave good separation of the lashes, and it was easy to apply to the bottom lashes. I didn't think the "nutrient rich" formula made any noticeable difference to the condition of my lashes. They didn't grow any longer or thicker, and I don't really know how you'd tell if your eyelashes were in good condition. Mine aren't snapping or falling out so I guess they're fine. It was fairly average in giving volume and length. It wasn't anything extraordinary, but it wasn't the worst I've used. It took a few layers to build it up to the level I wanted. I'd say it gave more length than volume. Overall, it's an OK mascara, other mascara's by No. 7 and other brands are better for the same amount of money so I'd suggest saving your pennies for something better.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner
rosiexox 5/11/2012 11:16:00 AM
I bought this out of curiosity, and considering I usually use liquid eyeliner worth about 3 pounds it was more expensive than I would have liked. However, despite looking like a tiny pot, you don't need much and it's lasted me ages so I think it's well worth the money. The brush that comes with it works well, although to get the most out of it clean it after each time you use it otherwise the liner will dry solid on the brush and you damage the bristles trying to get it off. I find that I can get a good straight line, and find it easy to do a winged look. I'm good at using liquid liner anyway, but I think this gel liner is easier, partly because it's less messy and easier to clean up mistakes, so it's perfect for beginners. One problem I have with it is that it smudges a bit, and I don't have very oily skin. Even if I put powder on my eyelids I still find that it transfers and smudges. Also, it's not as jet-black as I would like. I usually use the gel liner and then go over it with liquid liner, which isn't a waste of time because it leaves me with a super long lasting result that's really black and a really good shape. Something I do like this for it for my bottom lash line (not the water line though, not sure if you're meant to use it there because it could get into your eye). For my bottom lashes I like the fact that it's kinda smudgy. I don't find that it all rubs off or looks like I have black eyes by the end of the day, which is something that often happens with kohl liners.

Self Tanners -Superdrug - Solait - self tan lotion
rosiexox 5/11/2012 11:04:00 AM
I bought this because I heard a couple of good reviews about it and it's much more affordable than other fake tans on the market. However I wasn't impressed by it at all. Application was pretty easy because it had a colour guide, but afterwards it just didn't dry. My skin felt all sticky and it was ages until I felt like I could get dressed - and I didn't put too much on or anything. The next morning my skin was really itchy and I had come up in a rash, and unfortunately I'd used it on my face so had a rash on my face as well. I rinsed it off straight away but it took a couple of days for the rash to go down and it was really itchy and irritated. I definitely don't recommend this to anyone with sensitive skin, mines not even very sensitive so I don't know why I reacted so badly. I bought it in shade light/medium and honestly couldn't see a colour change after rinsing it off, so if you do decide to buy it make it worth your time and buy it in medium or dark. The smell of it was also not great, I can't really explain it but it wasn't very pleasant, and also quite strong, so don't use it before going out somewhere. I've used other fake tans and not had a reaction, my favourite is even cheaper than this so the price is no excuse for how bad it is. I can't really think of any good things about it to be honest, except that I'm glad I didn't spend any more money on it.

Mascara -Rimmel - Lash Maxxx
rosiexox 1/3/2009 11:12:00 AM
I don't like this mascara at all - for a few different reasons: Firstly, I didn't think it gave much volume or length to my lashes and although at first it separated my lashes well, when I put on a second layer (in the hope I might get some volume out of it) it just turned clumpy. Also, it doesn't last very long before it starts flaking and smudging. Not very good quality for something that isn't very cheap. One thing I did like was the comb as it made it quick and easy to apply.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Color Surge Impossibly Glossy in Azalea
rosiexox 1/3/2009 11:06:00 AM
I love the colour of this lipgloss and I think it would be suitable for most skin tones. It's very shiny (as the name suggests) which I like and it usually lasts quite a long time as well. However it can be a bit gloopy and doesn't smell or taste great, but overall I think it's quite a good lipgloss and i would probably consider getting it again.

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara Waterproof
rosiexox 1/3/2009 7:06:00 AM
I was quite impressed by this product. It doesn't flake off like other mascaras sometimes do and I liked the fact that it dries quite quickly (I had a mascara before this one which took agess to dry so I ended up with mascara lines all around my eye). Another thing I liked was the fact it doesn't go clumpy when I put it on. I did think it lengthened my lashes (not as well as some more expensive mascaras though) and overall I thought it was good value for money. The one thing I found negative about it was that it's not really waterproof. I can remove it with warm water quite easily so I probably wouldn't want to wear this if I was going swimming or something.

Powder -Maybelline - Mineral Power Powder Foundation
rosiexox 1/3/2009 7:00:00 AM
When I bought this foundation it had money off, so it was quite a good deal however at it's full price I was hesitant to buy it again because although it was good, it dried my skin out quite a lot and didn't last me very long because I had to keep re applying throughout the day. Also, when I applied it it was quite difficult to make the coverage completely even and the brush wasn't as soft as I would have liked. However, it did cover my blemishes a lot better than I had expected and it didn't bring me out in spots like some other foundations do so I guess I'd buy it again if there was another money off deal.

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse
rosiexox 1/3/2009 6:54:00 AM
This foundation gives quite a good even coverage when you first put it on, however it doesn't last a whole day and I find that I have to re apply it at lunch. Another problem I had with this product is that it really dried my skin out, even after wearing moisturiser. So no I don't think I would buy it again. However many of my friends use it and are happy with it so I think it just depends on your skin type (I think it would probably be best for quite oily skin, certainly not good for skin that's already dry).

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Special Eyes Eyeliner pencil in "Black Magic"
rosiexox 1/3/2009 6:49:00 AM
This eyeliner is good, because it applys easily and can be smudged to get a smokey eye look. However, it doesn't really stay in place that well. When I wear it to school I do have to reapply it half way through the day and get rid of where it smudges. Overall I am happy with this eyeliner and have used it pretty much since I started wearing make up because it gives a good dark colour and is good value for money.

Treatments (Eye) -Garnier - Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller
rosiexox 1/3/2009 6:42:00 AM
I use this product every day, and have noticed a big improvment in the dark circles under my eyes and I think I look allot less tired. The only negative thing I can think of is the fact that you need to use another more moisturising eye cream with it but I don't really mind that as I just use my old eye cream (which I found moisturised my eye area but didn't decrease dark circles or puffiness on it's own) with this.
