Lips -Bloom - Lip Butter
rose1234 4/5/2013 10:12:00 AM
I have added this category since the product I purchased is in a pot incased in clear acrylic and has a mirror on the inside top of the lid. I purchased "crazy in love" which is a lovely sheer peony color. I got this on super deep discount at Sears which was is no longer carrying the line. Pros: Great sheer bit of color Moisturizing Can apply without a mirror Mirror enclosed just in case you want one Cons: It has a weird smell. Not strong at all, but it turned me off at first Consistency is a bit paste-like The pros far outweigh the cons. I keep this in my desk drawer and just put in on throughout the day as if it was chapstick. I like that it gives a lovely pink tone so that I look polished, but is so easy to maintain and apply. I do not know if I would purchase for the full price since I think it is pretty high, but I will be super sad when this runs out (I am getting close)!

Liquid -MAC - Face and Body Foundation
rose1234 3/21/2013 11:52:00 AM
It is a sheer foundation that gives a super natural look. The problem? It is so very sheer. Do I feel like it can be built up to medium coverage? No. I feel like it can be built to light coverage by using two layers. The first layer seems translucent. I would prefer something a bit stronger but still retains the feel and look of this one. There are a lot of good things about this foundation and it might work for someone with younger skin and a bit less redness. I will use up this bottle and then might try some of the BB creams like Missha. Pros: Natural looking Natural feeling Washes off easily Doesnt get too stuck in fine lines Water based and non-irritating Lots of color choices Like the squeeze bottle (can control amount, hygenic) Like the plastic bottle (not glass) Can put on easily & quickly with fingers in the morning (no streaks) Cons: Coverage is too light Expensive Gets shiny durning the day (need to blot and powder 2x)

Primer/ Corrector -Silk Naturals - 100% Pure Silk Powder
rose1234 3/21/2013 11:43:00 AM
I like Silk Powder because I feel like it will not irritate. I have given it 4 lippies instead of 5 since I am using this mainly in the morning as a fast and fool proof way to prevent my face from getting super shiny before I powder it later in the morning on my first break. When I go to my break, is my face shiny (~ 3 hours later)? Yes. Super Shiny? Nope. Good enough and no harm done. Pros: easy, no white cast, natural, doesnt irritate Cons: does not stay very matte for long

Treatments -Silk Naturals - Vitamin C Peptide Serum
rose1234 3/20/2013 1:00:00 PM
This serum is called “Facelift Vitamin C, DMAE & Peptide serum” on the website. I am finishing up the sample of this serum which was often recommended on the skincare board. If you read my long winded skin history below, you can see that I had my skin back on track from a worrisome bumpiness/acne-like reaction to dehydration. But, up until now, I have never had lines around my eyes and I am just turning 35. Also, my forehead is starting to show a few tiny creases and the bridge of my nose seems a bit crinkly. I wanted something beyond moisture. I got a sample of this serum and a few others for super cheap and my skin has shown a lot of improvement. This serum is being used daily in the morning and I am using the Super Serum at night. After the Super Serum, I wake up to super smooth and soothed skin. I do not feel the same about the Facelift Serum, but it might be that a restful sleep versus a super stressful day might be responsible for the difference. However, I feel, for whatever reason – it is hard to describe –that this serum is making a difference. The overall texture of my skin is amazing and I have nary a bump in sight. Since I am using the two serums together, it is hard to pin point which one is doing what, but my dark scars are fading and I feel like very slowly the fine lines around my eyes are getting a bit better. I like the description of actives that are on the website since they make me feel like I am doing "something" to combat ageing and I LOVE that none of it irritates my skin in the least. I also like that the SuperSerum and the FaceLift serum have different stuff so hopefully I am going at those pesky lines with both guns blazing. I am putting my $$ where my mouth is and ordering a full size for me and a sample size for my mother in law. My skin history: I was having issues with my skin after being acne free for about 5 years (I used to have large cysts that lasted for months and then left nasty dark scars that eventually turned into pits. I cleared my skin by researching acne.org and using green tea toner, tea tree oil, burts bees radiance serum (discontinued), purpose redness reducing lotion spf 30 (discontinued) and slept with calamine lotion mask (pink stuff) at night. It took several months, but the calamine lotion especially killed the cysts and healed the skin. I would highly recommend.). Recently, was having skin colored bumps, not really fully blown acne, but they were persistent and made my skin quality look terrible. So, I tried the list of stuff that worked before and it was not quite working. I tried many new products since my old stuff was discontinued and everything new did not work, made it worse, or only worked for a day or two. Finally, I just put some of my cetaphil cream on my face one night and expected to wake up with a face that looked like pizza. Image my surprise when my face was so much better in the morning. Then I got it -- it was not acne -- my face was super dehydrated and my pores were enlarged trying to produce enough oil to hydrate my face. Coming from a background of acne and trying to reduce oil, I guess it makes sense I would not recognize dehydrated skin if it (literally) smacked me in the face. From then on, I have been using Cetaphil lotion day and night and it has been amazing. However, I wanted to add something to help especially with overall firmness, the dehydration lines around my eyes, some crinkliness at the bridge of my nose, and the appearance of very fine lines in my forehead. I blame all of these new things on the months of dehydration. Nothing honestly anyone would notice, except maybe around the eyes when I smile, but I have had NO lines until now and I am not happy about the change.

Treatments -Reviva - Hyaluronic Acid Serum

I'ge been reading about HA and picked this up on a whim at the vitamin store since it was cheap. I think this causes my pores to clog although it does a great job hydrating. Clogging is not okay. Need to see if it is the HA or other ingredients in the serum.

I like the concept and it does wear all day even through lunch and snacks, but this was the ligtest color I could find and it is too orange. Also, it is drying. I am NC15 for color reference.

Concealers -Femme Couture - Flawlesstouch

I also got the product above, not the pen that was discontinued (and sounds rather great). If the picture changes, it is a lipstick type tube with the concealer having a clear moisterizing center. So, here is the review. I have to give it props for having a great cream to powder consistency. However, since it did not work at all -could not tell I was wearing it in a bad way since all the stuff I wanted to hide was still completely visible - the consistency was useless for me. Returned for a full refund to Sally's.

Concealers -Maybelline - Super Stay 24 Hour Concealer

Hey, this isnt bad. I am NC15 for reference and got the ivory and it was fine. It covers the circles and discolorations very well and doesnt crease or collect in tiny lines. I put on a very thick eye cream at night and then do not wash the eye area in the morning so I do not find this drying. I also used over the top of my eyelid and it kept my cheap ELF eyeshadows in place all day. I found that it did not cover blemishes all that well unless I patted some on, waited for it to become drier and then lightly patted the area with a finger and then blended. Overall, very happy. Not HG, but will finish this and maybe purchase in the future if on sale.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Greed

I was excited to try UDPP for free w. a sample from Sephora. However, this color does not show up on me and I am very pale so colors usually show. I guess I would have to slather it on? I really don't get it. It does an ok job on my eyeshadow on, but it would be more fun if the base was more thick and pigmented. I will probably use this for travel and keep my paint pot for everyday.

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Trio - The Gilded Age [DISCONTINUED]
rose1234 6/18/2011 9:23:00 PM
This is absolutely beautiful. Wears great with my UDPP and the colors are so flattering and work well together. I cannot wear the colors as suggested by the imprints on the pans because that would be waaaay to dark especially for the brow or highlight color. Instead, I am wearing the 'brow color' which is a champagne as the main color over most my lower eyelid , the gold on the outer corners and along the socket and the dark brown (crease color) at the as kind of like an an eyeliner that has been then smudged up and out to give more contour to the outer portion of the eye. It seems like this is LE and that is such a shame. I would grab ASAP. For the $2.99 + tax that I paid, there is really no way to go wrong.

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Liner Liquid Liner in Bronze Sparkle
rose1234 5/5/2011 9:33:00 PM
I have been using this for over a year and I can honestly say this is an amazing liner. I use it daily and have 3 - one at home, one in my car and one in my bag because if I am in a hurry, I sometimes do my eyes on the go. I found that the best way to apply is to shake the container, lift out the brush and DO NOT SWIPE BRUSH AGAINST SIDES TO REMOVE EXCESS. Instead, apply directly. If you swipe the brush, you get just a thin amount that does not really show up. Using this method, I get a medium brown saturated color with a subtle sheen that defines my eyes without being harsh. Since I am pale, dark brown and black are dramatic for me. This is more everyday. It stays all day, never smudges, never flakes, goes on like a dream...what is not to like?

Lipstick -MAC - Lickable
rose1234 4/3/2011 4:02:00 PM
I am a bit on the fence over this. I wanted something more bright for summer but not too bright since I am very pale and dark colors can really wash me out. For reference I am NC15, with dark eyes and dark hair. The SA and I went over a few likely candidates and I liked this as a stain. She insisted that I swipe it full strength, which was too much for me. I bought it anyway since I liked it just patted on before I was very sweetly bullied into applying it stronger. I wore it at full strength on the way home and my husband said it was red (it happens to me that mid-range hues look very dark on me) and I looked like a ghost. I think he used the words "ew" and "too much". Nice to know I get unbiased opinions! I have since worn it just patted on lightly with more strength towards the middle and less towards the corners and it gives a subtle bright color. I put on burts bees tinted lip balm in hibiscus over it which has more orange/coral in it and there is a nice color interaction. The reason that I am on the fence is because I was looking for something in a muted watermelon range and this is more a bright pinky raspberry. It is a georgeous shade, but I would like to just swipe and go and this takes a little time and definitely a mirror for me. I cannot decide whether to keep on wearing and experimenting or to go back and get something closer to what I was looking for.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational Lipstick - Warm Me Up
rose1234 4/3/2011 3:44:00 PM
I like this color. It was recommended as a dupe for a NARS lipstick in InStyle Mag., if I remember correctly. I also am very pale with dark eyes and dark hair. When I first put it on, I put it straight from the tube without any lip balm so I got quite a bit of saturation. Applied this way, it was more towards the brown side which I cannot wear and was drying. Since then, I always put on over lip balm and it is a nice sheer bit of color that is slightly pinky but still neutral. I am not thrilled with this color like some of the reviewers because it is very much like some other lipsticks that I have and I will probably buy other ones over this one, but whenever I do put it on, I always think to myself that I should wear it more.
