Fragrances -Guerlain - La Petite Robe Noire
rosbergs3 5/17/2013 12:50:00 PM
I've worn La Petite Robe Noire several times and i keep thinking of things to write a helpful review. After several wearings i think i can finally offer a good review. Since i first started wearing this the very first thing it reminds me of is tobacco leaves or just downright cigarette smoke. During this phase of the scent it is very masculine smelling. After a while, though, the smokey scent disappears and is replaced by fruits. Cherries and pomegranites to be exact and that is the color of the bottle too. A nice shade of red/pink with a pretty black dress. It lasts a decent amount of time on the skin too which i really like. All in all a wonderful scent. Also, La Petite Robe Noire is just ever-so-slightly masculine.

Fragrances -Balenciaga - Florabotanica
rosbergs3 5/13/2013 5:24:00 PM
I'm surprised it has taken me so long to write a review of this stupendous fragrance. First the bottle. It is absolutely stunning with the pretty colors and stem inside. Florabotanica is absolutely awesome. It is a "different kind of floral". I remember a few years ago Clinique had a perfume out and its tagline was "a different kind of floral". Well Florabotanica really is a different kind of floral. It's not a bridal bouquet of beautiful and it's not a vase of flowers that are for mother's day. It is itself. It is very floral and very grassy at the same time. Florabotanica is like pulling over on the interstate and walking through a wildflower project that has been planted by the state. You smell the wonderful flowers, grasses, maybe some hay too. I also detect what might be vetiver as well. It is very strong and lasts and lasts and gives awesome sillage. This might even have worked as a men's scent too. To me it turns quite masculine when it has been on the skin for a while. I will always have a bottle of this perfume in my medicine cabinet. Job well done Balenciago....bravo. You really outdid yourself with Florabotanica.

Fragrances -Bond No.9 - High Line
rosbergs3 5/11/2013 6:03:00 PM
This is an absolutely fantastic fragrance!!! It is very, very floral and that is what is so nice about it. It is like walking through a beautiful field of tulips and lily of the valley. I do not get any of the grassy notes that other reviewers are talking about. Just the wonderful floral notes. It is strong and gives excellant sillage too which is another plus. I would love to go to the real Highland in New York City wearing this to see if i sense any of the notes in this incredible scent.

Fragrances -Mary Kay - Tribute
rosbergs3 5/5/2013 8:27:00 PM
Tribute is a ever so slightly masculine scent for such a high society, feminine woman like Mary Kay was. To me this fragrance is total musk. A lot of Mary Kay fragrances have a vanilla note to them and Tribute is no exception but it is mainly just musk....pure musk oil. I really like this scent but it's kind of strange they would make a scent like this as a "tribute" to Mary Kay. Maybe they wanted a musky, masculineish scent because Mary Kay was an astute business woman who created a world wide successful company?

Fragrances -Viktor & Rolf - Spicebomb
rosbergs3 4/30/2013 10:43:00 AM
Spicebomb is a very high-quality mens scent. It's very powdery with alot of cocoa. Not vanilla, cocoa. Like Tinkerbell just released a blast of cocoa with her little wand over a field. Spicebomb is quite feminine and given the proclivity for companies to make masculine scents for women this would have worked as a women's scent on the market.

Fragrances -Paco Rabanne - Metal
rosbergs3 4/24/2013 1:48:00 PM
Metal is an odd concoction of notes. I've heard it is pronounced metal or may-tal but to me its metal. As in a metal anvil. A strong, shiny, heavy, proud anvil. Metal (or the anvil) i should say shows its softer, feminine side by revealing what i determine as carnation. A big, heady bunch of carnations. After a while a smokey scent arises. I wore this once and i had to go outside to see if there was a fire outside somewhere because i kept smelling smoke. Like smoke from a fire of pine trees. To me Metal is a very masculine, manly scent. Another reviewer said Metal is very girly. I dont know how she got that i dont get girly at all. I just get a nice gleaming anvil. It is an old school scent but a very, very wonderful fragrance to own.

Fragrances -Mary Kay - Journey Eau de Parfum
rosbergs3 4/22/2013 9:07:00 AM
"Take me on a journey, on a journey to the center of your heart". For those of you old enough to remember that song sung by the late Donna Summer you will know what i mean. It is difficult to find notes for Mary Kay fragrances so i am just having to go with my gut on what i am smelling. When i first sprayed it on it started with a subtle orange or even a tangerine scent. Not a broken open orange or tangerine but an orange or tangerine still on the tree ready to ripen. The orange scent fades to a nice myriad of spices and peppers white, black and pink i think. Nice Eau de Parfum to take you on a "journey".

Fragrances -Mary Kay - Velocity
rosbergs3 2/7/2013 7:48:00 AM
Nice little fragrance here in a cool oblisque shaped orange bottle. To me its not a Happy type floral. Velocity is a little bit darker with what are seemingly notes of bitter orange and ozone. I keep imagining myself strolling through an orange orchard that has just been sprayed with fertilizer and repellants.

Fragrances -Mary Kay - thinking of you
rosbergs3 1/10/2013 8:24:00 AM
Thinking of you smells like a yummy fruit tart. It is a dainty, vanillic, cocoa floral. A very delicate, fragfile cocoa scent. I can imagine a young man on his prom date giving Thinking of You to his date to wear for the evening and from then after it being "their" scent.

Fragrances -Mary Kay - Affection
rosbergs3 12/8/2012 1:09:00 PM
Affection is the second perfume i have tried by Mary Kay and it is the second fragrance that i really like by Mary Kay. The first Mary Kay fragrance i bought was Dance to Life and that is a very floral. Affection is the total opposite. It is a spicey oriental fragrance and leans close to masculine. When i first sprayed it on i immediately thought of Coka Cola or Dr. Pepper.....probably closer to Dr. Pepper. I mean that in a good way though. Also, it reminds me of Chaos by Donna Karen too. Affection has a very fizzy feel to it and it is very, very long lasting.

Fragrances -Escada - Island Kiss (edt)
rosbergs3 12/4/2012 8:20:00 AM
I've loved this scent going back to when i first got into perfumes and wearing fragrances. I loved the smell so much but i couldnt bring myself at the time to wear it since it was a "womens" scnet. Those days are long gone and i now wear the scents i want to wear and I am now wearing Island Kiss like i had always wanted to in the beginning. Island Kiss is such a happy go lucky type of scent with its realistic notes of island fruits like mangos, kiwis and bananas. Island Kiss just feels like frolicking on some carribean beach gathering fruits. The scent also smells wet if you know what i mean. Wet like the shimmering ocean. Towards the end of the scent it smells something woody....maybe driftwood and that note would be the end to a perfect scent story.

Fragrances -Jo Malone - Grapefruit
rosbergs3 12/3/2012 6:07:00 AM
Jo Malones Grapefruit is surprising. Surprising in its complexity. When i first started to wear it i thought it was going to be a straight on grapefruit smell....totally linear but its not. Grapefruit is actual kind of complex and nice. It starts off with a juicy grapefruit scent then suddenly morphs into a powderery floral. I think i detect jasmine mostly and maybe some rose. It does not last long as with most Jo Malone scents but it is nice when it does last.

Fragrances -Balenciaga - L'essence
rosbergs3 11/19/2012 5:47:00 AM
Here we go again. Another masculine scent for women on the market. I've reviewed several of them the past few day and now It is my pleasure to intoduce to the world another one Balenciagas L'essence. First off, the little bottle with the dark forebodking evil looking cap makes me think i'm in for something witchey even before i smell the fragrance. Upon spraying i go and get my broon and begin to take off wih it. The violet leaves are the predominant note in L'essense...not cute little violet blossoms but violet leaves. They aer what makes the fragrnce nice and powderery. Soon vetiver and woods emerge and it propels your broom up into the stratospher. I got several comments on it the first day i wore it so that is nice.

Fragrances -Jo Malone - blackberry and bay
rosbergs3 11/18/2012 2:08:00 PM
I usually shy away from Jo Malone scents as they are merely colognes meant for the commoner....the peasents but Blackberry and Bay is awesome. Probably the reason i gave it a try is because (if you are familiar with my reviews) you know i love scents with blackberries. It is not an outstanding, truely authentic scent of blackberries but it is close...nice. The blackberry scent kind of gets nudged out of the way from the grapefruit note. What really makes this fragrance stand out is the bay note. It really does smell like a big pot of pasta cooking on the stove with two or three bay leaves added. The fragrance also has a nice note of twigs or bramble or hay gathered in a basket. I like to think i am 10 or 11 years old and gathering a big armful of nice smelling twigs, hay and bramble and bringing it home as a present to my parents. It is a very clean smelling fragrance that i have gotten TONS of compliments on and it is easily wearable by both men and women alike but it is probably leaning closer to masculine.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - A Dozen Roses/Neiman Marcus/Gold Rush
rosbergs3 11/18/2012 1:45:00 PM
Neiman Marcus has come out with their own line of fragrances called A Dozen Roses and currently their are five in the line. I'm going to be reviewing them over the next few days so today i'm going to review one of them called Gold Rush. It is absolutely divine. All of the fragrances are exquisite and meticulously blended and the bottles are museum type quality as well. They are not the type of bottles you would just toss in the trash after you finish with the fragrance. They have an avante garde (sp?) appeal to them so they are something you will want to create a nice little display once you have finished with the fragrance. But lets get to it and start reviewing the scent itself. Gold Rush is an awesome blackberry scent. Blackberry is one of my favorite notes for perfumes and Gold Rush offers a fluffy, bouncey scent of blackberries and the blackberry note stays with the fragrance throughout its duration. As it sits longer on your skin you can start to detect a very warm vanilla smell. Actually, it is not vanilla like i originally thought it was....it is white chocolate so it smells even better than the plain, ordinary vanilla that is in a lot of fragrances nowadays. Ever since i have been wearing Gold Rush i get a very specific kind of image in my mind. I keep imagining a young prince in a blue, velvet little lord fauntleroy, type of suit. He has on a crown made completely of blackberries and he is sitting on his thrown surrounded by huge chunks of white chocolate and his thrown room smells divine.
