Mascara -NARS - Larger Than Life Volumizing Mascara
rocksteadyb 8/13/2010 8:52:00 PM
This is the first NARS product I've ever returned, it was that bad. I'm a huge fan of NARS and over the years my makeup collection is starting to look like a NARS counter, save for their mascaras. I bought this because of the brush, which looked like I would love. Nope, this stuff clumped horribly on my lashes, making them look just gross. Then, when it came time to take it off, it wouldn't come off! I washed my face about 3 time's with my normal cleanser, which never has failed me. I finally had to coat my fingers in soap and pull at my lashes...not very nice. I looked all over the packaging to see if I had purchased a waterproof tube...nope. I definitely will not be buying this again, and I'm not sure I'll be trying any of their other mascaras for a long time.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Oil Cleansing Method OCM
rocksteadyb 4/17/2009 5:55:00 PM
I wont add too much in my review that has already been said, but I have been using this method for about a month and a half now and Im really loving the results. I'm using mostly Avocado Oil, with about 1/3 Cold Pressed Castor Oil for the solution. I message it in for about 5 mins, then use a CLEAN wash clothe to steam my face for a few mins. After I don't put anything on my face, just leave it for the night with a bit of the left over residue. That being said, I ONLY use this method at most twice a week. This is a Deep Cleaning method, and I think why so many people start to get negative results after a while is because they're using it way to ofter. So I do recommend this, however, treat it like the deep cleaning method that it is and don't over do it.

Lip Treatments -Paula's Choice - Lip and Body Treatment Balm
rocksteadyb 3/23/2009 12:46:00 PM
As a lip balm junkie, and as a PC skin care user for about a year, I cant believe it took me so long to try this lip balm! This is probably my HG lip treatment now, I cant go anywhere without this stuff. It makes my lips super smooth and hydrated, and has never flaked off or made my lips flaky, like so many other lip balms tend to do. Also I don't need to apply as nearly as often as any other lip balms I've ever tried. Makes an amazing base for lipstick or gloss, they always go on perfectly smooth after i apply this. Does great thing for my cuticle too, which are usually kinda dry and ragged looking-I work as a Bartender/Server, and I'm constantly washing my hands and having to deal with strong bleach chemicals for the glass washer. I don't mind the packaging that it comes in, it's just like a larger Carmex tube. Just try to make sure your hands are clean before dipping in! I will definitely repurchase, however this jar is so big that I think it will last at least a year!

Tinted Moisturizer -Christian Dior - Hydraction Deep Hydration Skin Tint SPF 20 [DISCONTINUED]
rocksteadyb 3/15/2009 1:29:00 AM
EDIT: So I've been using this for about two months, and Im still really liking it...However, if you have really dry skin and usually need to put a moisturizer under your TM this may not work for you. I've found it pills with almost everything, no matter how long i wait between layers. The one exception to this is Avalon Organics Vit C serum. This works great under this TM....hope this helps somebody out there! Wow! I've been using Stila Moisture Tint Oil Free SPF 30 for ages now, and I thought that I'd try something else out, and I'm glad I did! Although I do still like Stila's TM, this Dior one so far is great. It does have quite a lot of coverage for a TM, but this can be layered to achieve the desired amount, which is great for night time make up. It goes on very nicely, gives me a flawless dewy finish, and doesn't make me too oily at all! I've found that it is a bit trickier to apply, so I've been using my fingers to spread it on then i use my foundation brush to make sure its all even. I just finish with a bit Stila's powder, and I've got amazing skin. It is less of an SPF then I'd like, but 20 is still higher then a lot of TMs so only one lippy off for that. Will definitely be repurchasing!

Mascara -L'Oreal - Double Extend Beauty Tubes
rocksteadyb 3/15/2009 1:20:00 AM
Although I didn't totally hate this mascara, I didn't totally love it either. It does take some practice to get the hang of, and its true the you need to apply both the primer and mascara in quick succession of each other to get a good look. I just didn't find the results that great, I usually ended up with spidery looking lashes, with not much curl (even though I religiously curl my lashes before hand). One thing I did really like about this mascara, was the fact that it STAYED on all day, no smudging. Although the first time you take it off it is a bit weird, (make sure to use lots of warm water) I loved the fact that i wasn't left with ANY eye makeup around my face. Overall, not bad, but I doubt I'll ever repurchase.

Mascara -Maybelline - XXL Extensions
rocksteadyb 3/15/2009 1:11:00 AM
Eh, another mascara that will get chucked out. It wasn't the worst mascara I've ever use, but for the 2 step process it was hardy worth the results. I found that it clumped easily, and I couldn't apply more then one coat or else I'd look like a child who had played around with her mother mascara! I also tried just using the mascara side and ended up with really weak looking lashes. Definitely wont be repurchasing

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara
rocksteadyb 3/15/2009 12:51:00 AM
EDIT: Well now I remember why I stop using this! The brush is so large that almost every time I apply this I end up with LOADS of mascara on my eyelids...very annoying after I've finish applying eyeshadow! And I am very patient and careful, I just can't seem to use this mascara effectively every time...However, when I use this with other mascara's, i.e applying it after Rimmel Volume Blast, it works great with that...helps to distribute any clumping the Rimmel has left behind and makes them nice and feathery! Will still buy again, but only to use with other mascaras. I'm not sure why I ever stray from this mascara, I always go back to it. It's by far the best drug store mascara, and really gives me super full, thick lashes that look almost perfect. Also, I find that this is one of the few mascaras I can really apply up to three coats and not make my lashes look clumpy and gross! Overall, this stuff works well both day and night, and I've learned to stop wasting my money on other mascaras all the time!

Eye Shadow -Stila - Kitten
rocksteadyb 3/1/2009 1:48:00 AM
I love all Stila eyeshadows, I find that they resist creasing ( I don't use any primer) better then other shadows I've tried, namely MAC, and last me forever! Even the shade I use every day lasts about a year. Kitten is a super shimmery champagne colour, and while I definitely don't use it everyday, when I want my eyes to pop, this is the stuff i use. I found that this shadow doesn't go on well if you actually sweep it on, instead I roll the brush in the shadow, tap it, then pat it on my eyelids until i have the consistency right. Always makes my blue eyes pop and really looks good against my fair skin tone. Will defiantly repurchase!

Lip Treatments -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Vitamin C lip balm
rocksteadyb 2/8/2009 3:50:00 AM
Yet another lip balm that will go unused. Did not care for this stuff at all, I totally agree with the others who posted about this crumbling on their lips, and I even found that it made my lips start to peel! I randomly try this again from time to time and I always regret it...definatly won't be repurchasing.

Mascara -Revlon - Beyond Natural Mascara [DISCONTINUED]
rocksteadyb 2/5/2009 2:04:00 PM
I didn't like this product at all...besides having a horrible hard plastic brush, which is pretty scary to have to navigate around the eye area first thing in the morning, I found that the mascara never seemed to dry properly. This lead to horrible smudging. Also not very easy to remove, even with using makeup remover. Definatly won't be repurchasing.

Styling Products -Aveda - Pure Abundance Volumizing Hair Spray
rocksteadyb 2/2/2009 1:38:00 AM
I've had a bottle of this stuff in my bathroom for about a year now, and although I don't use it often, it does a great job when I need a super firm hold. I think for my hair on day to day basis, Aveda Air Control works way better for me-I have pretty fine hair and it gets product build up really easily.I also agree with other users that the nozzle clogs up really easily, and the hairspray will come out in one big stream (not very nice). I have a smaller travel sized hairspray bottle that i've transferred some liquid into and it works a lot better. For the price, I don't think I'll repurchase. EDIT: After reading all the great reviews of this product, I started to use this again...and I'm totally converted...I love this Hair Spray...it still is super tricky to use...but the results are worth it...my fine but lots of it hair looks great after this stuff... i usually blow dry then straighten, then finish with this stuff and my hair looks thicker and has that sexy messy look...and the next day it still looks good, and not as greasy as it normally does...with Repurchase!

Eye Makeup Remover -Lancome - Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Make-up Remover
rocksteadyb 1/30/2009 1:24:00 AM
This is a good eye makeup remover...it does its job, it never irritated my eyes, and after washing my face there was never any traces of oiliness like some other eye makeup removers...However, for the price, it is really NOTHING special...I started buying this after receiving it from GWP and really liked it...I had never really experimented with eye makeup remover before so I really didn't know any better...After purchasing it twice, I really started to look at other eye makeup removers....paying nearly 40 bucks with tax (Canadian dollars) for a bottle of eye makeup remover started to seem a little silly....I've found that L'Oreal-Same Company- Gentle Eye Makeup remover is very comparable, for about 10 bucks at the drug store...it's works well, isn't oily, and doesn't irritate my eyes...So if you snag this with GWP, great...it would motivate me if it was in the package to buy some Lancome products, but for the price, I don't recommend it.

Toners -Paula's Choice - Healthy Skin Refreshing Toner
rocksteadyb 1/27/2009 5:46:00 PM
I've tried many other toners, and I think this is the best one for my skin- Oily/Combo- It doesn't sting or irritate me in anyway, gets off the last trace amounts of make up and generally seems to do its job. I've usually given up on toners after a few weeks as they've always felt sticky/left a residue, but I'm on my second bottle and still really like it.

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - HydraLight Moisture-Infusing Lotion
rocksteadyb 1/27/2009 5:43:00 PM
This is a good moisturizer if you have combo/oily skin as it is pretty lightweight...I goes on well, absorbs quickly, and yes, it does have a *slight* smell, but It seems to go away quickly ( I must have started to use this stuff after they reformulated it, because I've never found it to be as bad as some reviewers have said) I use this most of the year, but I do however keep a heavier moisturizer around for those times in the winter when my skin needs something more. It has never seemed to break me out or make me oily in anyway. I also find this is the perfect base to my Stila Oil Free TM in SPF 30...make my TM go on super smooth and lasts all day. If your looking for a heavy duty moisturizer, then this isn't it...However, if your like me with Oily/Combo skin and want a nice, lightweight formula, then I think this stuff if great!

Cleansers -Paula's Choice - Skin Balancing Oil-Reducing Cleanser
rocksteadyb 1/27/2009 5:34:00 PM
I love this cleanser...It's cheap, gets the makeup off, foams up nicely, and the 16oz bottle is lasting me ages...I bought it about 3 months ago, and I'm only half way through the bottle. This also doesn't dry my skin out like some other cleansers do, and I always use it over my eyes and it doesn't sting or irritate them at all. Would highly recommend.
