Tinted Moisturizer -Aveeno - positively radiant
rated 5 of 5
rocketinthesky 7/22/2011 1:15:00 AM

First off, let me start by saying that I am a guy. This stuff covers excellent! While it doesn't totally cover acne/acne scarring, it evens out my complexion and reduces redness. The one for darker skin matches my skin tone perfectly. All I need is this, a little powder, and I'm out the door! Also, I don't find I get as oily when I use this, but I do have a very nice 'radiant' glow :-) will repurchase.

Conditioner -Joico - K-Pak Reconstruct Daily Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
rocketinthesky 7/15/2011 8:32:00 PM

Let me start off by saying that it would be just plain SILLY if you had fine, never-been-touched-with-a-heat-tool or unprocessed hair and decided to try this, hoping it would give you miracle results. This and the shampoo are meant for reconstructing, as the entire KPAK line is meant to do. If your hair is damaged from heat styling, bleaching, too much colouring, and especially all of the above, then look no further! My hair was FRIED from bleaching, but after A LOT of protein treatments my hair was finally making a recovery. I use this with the shampoo as my regular conditioner, as they don't contain as much protein as the DPR or Redken's Deep Fuel, but they have enough as to make my hair tame, soft, and shiny. The smell is divine, and I always find myself unscrewing the lid just to get a good whiff of it :).... I use this + the shampoo in conjunction with Anti-snap, iron repair, moroccan oil, and Redken's overnight treat. Then I'll spray in some of Joico's color leave-in. Se magnifique!

Styling Products -Joico - Color Endure Leave-In Protectant
rated 5 of 5
rocketinthesky 7/4/2011 1:45:00 PM

I'm wondering why this product isn't even in the system, it's seriously amazing! Joico Color Endure is obviously for color-treated (dyed, whatever) hair, and is formulated to keep your color looking fresh, vibrant, shiny, and last longer. Now, let me tell you, this stuff does exactly that. Packaging - Comes in a violet-red bottle (let me just say, I love Joico's, packaging. It just screams SALON while it's sitting on my shelf) with a spritz nozzle and a clear cap. The bottom is tear-drop shaped. Scent - Can't. Get. Enough. Seriously. Smells exactly like Joico's violet shampoo, and presumably their regular Color Endure line. Smells like mangos, and I have a fabreeze fabric refresher that smells almost exactly like it. Consistency - Watery, but very milky as well. I like how although it's obviously meant to be sprayed onto the hair, it's still not as runny or watery as a drugstore leave-in. Does it deliver? - DEFINITELY!! I have bleach blonde hair that I've been trying to get white for sooo long, and my hair is currently a very ash-blonde, but this stuff honestly BRIGHTENS my hair. I don't know how Joico does it, but my hair actually looks lighter and more vibrant! It also makes my hair veryyyy soft, although I do have other stuff to do that. What I'm buying this for is for when I touch up my roots/use a toner, right after I'm going to use this so that my color lasts longer. How I use it - Spritz 4-5 sprays onto my relatively short hair. Comb through with fingers. I'm definitely going to repurchase, and I pray they don't stop making this stuff because it seriously is the one thing I was missing. Hope this review helped!

Treatments -Redken - Extreme CAT Protein Therapy Treatment (2011 formula with IPN)
rated 5 of 5
rocketinthesky 7/1/2011 5:59:00 PM

I'm a bit upset that the other 65 reviews for this product are now under a 'discontinued' version of this stuff, but if this is an even NEWER reformulated version of CAT, then I really should be posting here anyway. Redken CAT is a spray-in formula specially made for severely damaged, processed, bleached, coloured, whatever kind of hair. You'll know if you need this if, while your hair is wet, your hair is very rubbery/gummy feeling, and easily snaps when combed. Also, your ends will look very thin/gross. If you never use heat, never colour, never do chemical processing, then this product more than likely isn't for you. Now, onto the review. Packaging - I personally love the colour of blue, maybe it's just me, but I love seeing it on my shelf because of the colour itself. It's also not as hard to grip the bottle with wet hands as everyone seems to be complaining about. I personally have never dropped the bottle and have used it multiple times already. Scent - I can't say I like it too much, but if protein had a scent I'd think it would smell like CAT along with some artificial perfumes to mask the scent. Consistency - VERY watery. Why else would it come in a spray bottle? A little does NOT go a long way with this product because of it's consistency, and I almost want to take 1 lippy off because you need a lot of product to thoroughly saturate the hair, and it's very expensive for such a small amount of product. Does it deliver? - I'd have to say yes, although it seems to work better when I use it in conjunction with my Deep Fuel treatments. I use it about every 2-3 washes, but I'm trying to cut down just because I can't afford to spend $25 every 2 weeks. How I use it - fully saturate my hair with it, leave it in for 5 minutes, then lather it up in my hair and leave on for another 5 minutes (read how to do this from previous reviews on the original formula), rinse, and repeat 2 more x. It lathers because it contains Magnesium Sulfate (epsom salts), but you need quite a bit for it to lather, which is probably why I'm using so much every time, but I want to be able to get as much use out of it one time as possible. I wouldn't recommend leaving it in longer than 10-15 minutes, as I believe it stops working after a certain amount of time. Honestly, I think I'm going to repurchase, just because it allows me to add more protein to my 6x bleached and toned hair. Hope this review helps!

Shampoo -Joico - Joico Color Endure Violet Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
rocketinthesky 6/28/2011 6:03:00 PM

Not entirely sure how much I like this stuff. I've always wanted white-silver hair, and this stuff just... eh. I was told to leave in purple shampoo longer if I'm trying to achieve the silver look, but when I left this in for 20 minutes, 15 minutes, 10, it always gave me purple ends and gray roots. What I'm thinking is that I need to bleach my hair AGAIN, which I really do not want to do. However, this stuff does give me a very nice ash blonde when I just leave it in for 3 minutes. I guess I'm going to have to settle for that until then. Love the scent, though, and I think even if this doesn't work after bleaching another time, I'm still going to repurchase because the scent is to die for.

Treatments -Redken - Real Control Overnight Treat
rated 5 of 5
rocketinthesky 6/28/2011 5:54:00 PM

This stuff. I can't even. My hair is soooo damaged from bleach, toning, leaving in purple shampoo in forever, and the occasional heat tool (my hair looks like sh*t just air-dried, and damnit I'm only human). I've been treating my hair like a new-born child and the addition of this product to my regimen has been one of the smartest things I could've done. The smell - lovely, very perfume-y, like all of Redken's products. DOES linger, so if you're not a fan stray away or deal! The packaging - love the pump, so easy to get a good amount without going over. The thing I don't like, though, is that you can't see through the violet colour on the actual bottle. It's impossible to tell how much product you have left. It's also not very big, so it won't last SUPER long, although you're allowed to use it every night before bed. consistency - can't get enough. It's very thick and creamy, but distributes fantastically. Silly me, thinking it wasn't going to distribute evenly, used 3 pumps on my relatively short hair, and I could tell I'd used too much. Does it deliver? - DEFINITELY!!! This was one of those little kicks my hair needed to get back to when I wasn't terrified to brush my hair. How I use it - Every single time I wash my hair, I apply 1 pump of Anti-Snap, a few sprits of Keratin Mist, a quarter size of Moroccan Oil, and 1 pump of this. My hair actually feels like hair again! Now I know this seems like a lot of product, but my hair sucks all of it right up, and I can actually see improvement, not instant gratification that I get with some drugstore products. Once a week, however, (usually the night before I shampoo it), I will apply 2 pumps to dry hair, go to bed, wake up, wash, condition, etc. and my hair feels fantastique! One thing that concerns me, though, is that it has Shea Butter in it, which I've heard can build up if used too often. This isn't a problem, however, because I have a very good clarifying shampoo (Redken cleansing cream). Sorry for the extensive review, but since there aren't very many reviews on this product I thought I'd give it my all. Will repurchase. =)

Masks -Freeman - Pure Ambition Purifying Facial Clay mask with Avocado and Oatmeal
rated 4 of 5
rocketinthesky 6/18/2011 2:51:00 PM

love this stuff. super cheap, super effective. I feel like I'm at a spa when I use this. I think it's improved the appearance of my pores very nicely, and I'm not breaking out as often. I use this about twice a week, after exfoliating. I let it dry on my face for about 15-30 minutes, then rinse with warm water. My face feels very smooth but slightly dry after using this, which is easily fixed with a nice moisturizer. For $3 at my local Wal Mart, why wouldn't I continue to buy this? A little goes a long way, too.

Toners -Neutrogena - Alcohol-Free Toner
rated 5 of 5
rocketinthesky 6/18/2011 2:48:00 PM

I LOVE THIS STUFF!!! I was using a very harsh toner previously, and I realized it was causing my face to produce more oil, so I decided to look for a nice toner without alcohol/harsh chemicals. I am SO pleased with this toner. It feels nice and fresh, and the smell.. it's so hard to describe, but it's a very clean smell. I put this on and think to myself "ahh, it's gonna be a good day today". +for $8? What a steal! I'd have to say it's evened out my skin very nicely, and kept my face from being super dry. can't recommend this enough.

Cleansers -Olay - Professional Pro-x Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
rocketinthesky 6/10/2011 12:08:00 AM

This stuff is sooooooo good! It's so gentle for an exfoliator, but still leaves my skin baby soft and helps my moisturizer get sucked RIGHT in. I used up all of the sample size that came with my pro-x system, but I reeeally want to invest in the bigger bottle. It is, however, pricey, at Wal Mart it's $20, Shoppers Drug Mart it is $25 I believe. It's totally worth it, though, in my opinion. I feel like although it doesn't claim to get rid of acne or anything, it helps prevent break-outs and I'd like to believe it evens my skin tone a little more :) UPDATE: I purchased the big bottle in April maybe, but never got around to updating until now (sorry!) but I've been using this day and night and I'm in love. My skin tone has improved drastically, the texture is MUCH softer, my pores aren't getting as clogged, and my moisturizer still absorbs instantly. I'm telling you right now. You NEED this exfoliator.

Misc Beauty Tools -Olay - Professional Pro-X Advanced Cleansing System
rated 4 of 5
rocketinthesky 6/2/2011 6:18:00 PM

Not GROUND breaking for me yet, but it makes my face feel smooth, suck up my moisturizer, and keeps my acne to a minimum. I also ADORE the cleanser sample it comes with, although I'm not entirely sure I could justify spending $25 on a facial cleanser. Let me also say, I have never tried the clairisonic and never plan on it. I have much more important things to spend money on (like hair products hehe). Depending on how oily my face is, I'll use either/or speed setting, but there really isn't THAT big if a difference. The battery compartment IS hard to get open, but that is so it ensures you aren't getting water in it when you use it in the shower. Will repurchase if this breaks.

Treatments -Joico - K-Pak Intense Hydrator
rated 5 of 5
rocketinthesky 6/2/2011 6:14:00 PM

I purchased this in a set with the Joico DPR and Split-end Mender and I must say, this deep conditioner is fantastic! Blows All Soft Heavy Cream out of the water. My bleached, heat damaged, dry, frizzy dull hair was transformed. This has been my regular conditioner lately and I haven't noticed any build up yet (I wash my hair about twice a week, though) so that's a plus. The smell is DIVINE. Not entirely sure what it smells like exactly, but I am in love =) I also love the consistency - very thick and creamy which is what my hair needs. A little goes a long way too, so you'll have this for a long time. definite repurchase.

Treatments -Redken - Extreme Deep Fuel [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5
rocketinthesky 5/15/2011 4:58:00 PM

oh. my. god. INSTANT holy grail product! Let me just start off by saying my hair has been through hell and back. I recently went from a jet black to a pale blonde so that I could dye my hair blue. That took 6 bleachings, 2 toners, and I managed to do it all in a week (which is incredibly stupid, and I do not recommend you do this). Needless to say, my hair was breaking off like crazy. I was TERRIFIED to even comb it. It also took HOURS to dry. After I got my haircut, I thought my hair was fine, so I started heat styling. I began to get breakage all over again. I bought this stuff the other day, and I have never been more impressed with a protein treatment. This beats Joico's deep penetrating reconstructor OUT OF THE WATER. My hair no longer takes forever to dry. It feels so much stronger. What I do is put in about half of one of the tubes, leave it in for 15-20 minutes, rinse, condition for about 10 minutes, rinse, and put in my keratin mist and moroccan oil. My hair is finally silky again. Thank you, Redken. definite repurchase.

Moisturizers -Neutrogena - Oil Free Moisture - SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
rocketinthesky 4/24/2011 1:12:00 PM

I've been using this stuff for months now, and haven't even CONSIDERED switching to something else. The pump is great, and I only use about one pump for my dry but oily t-zone skin. Price is definitely affordable, and it lasts you forever. Smells like sunscreen, but goes away after like an hour. Will repurchase until(if) I can find a better moisturizer. =)

This stuff is freaking amazing! Great hold, but still touchable. Definitely buildable too, if you want a harder hold look, just use more. I can't stand the smell though, and it lingers. Oh well. Will repurchase =)
