Highlighters -MAC - Marine Life [DISCONTINUED]

It's unfortunate that this has that freaking gold seahorse on it, because of that it was hyped up and now I can't get my hands on a backup. This gives you a great sunburn-reminiscent bright coral glow. I've never used anything like it, it's fantastic. I think this could look clown-ish on the pale or cool toned ladies. Minus one lipstick tube for the seahorse.

Polishes -MAC - Light Affair
rated 5 of 5

I'd have to say this is my favorite nail color. It's a fabulous, simple but complex shade. I love how different this appears in different lights (which is surprising considering it has no duochrome/shimmer at all). It's so hard to describe, but I'll do my best. It's a great beige color that teeters between cool and warm. Sometimes it looks like a soft elegant beige and sometimes it looks like a fantastic pale lilac. I wish they'd make this one permanent, it would be my staple shade! The one thing I don't like so much is when it chips, it loses is coherence, and I think suffers more than other colors in that respect. A previous reviewer said it looked like a "winter sunrise", I think that's a perfect description

Lipstick -Lancome - Chris & Tell
rated 3 of 5

I'm really glad I got to try this in a swap before buying on ebay. I love the color and finish of this lipstick. The color is a pink with a coral tinge. It's very flattering on my skin at this time of year and definitely brightens up my face. It is *very* similar to Bobbie Brown Calypso Coral pot rouge, though I prefer the color of this a bit more. What I just can't stand is the scent, it's really too much, it's gross and ritzy, you'd think the more expensive the lipstick, the more delicate the scent would be. Definitely not "young" or "fresh". Oh well, maybe I'll be able to get over it. The color is really fantastic.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Bough Grey
rated 4 of 5
rochas2 3/27/2010 5:36:00 PM

wow, I'm sorry this shadow didn't work out for so many people, because I love it! It's really similar to the color of my eyes, so it creates this beautiful, interesting effect. I love the satiny texture and I appreciate its sheerness, I think it's a good thing this shade is sheer. I do a wash of this on the lid with korres green-grey mascara. I don't think it would work for everyone, I think it would enhance grey eyes the most.

Lipstick -MAC - Cremesheen - Ever Hip
rated 5 of 5

Instant face brightener, I love to pair this with a similar blush like Orgasm. It just makes your lips look so healthy, a nice peachy pink flush. The main complaints about this lipstick seem to be about its sheerness. I actually think its sheerness is a benefit, it ends up looking super natural with a couple swipes, and looks great as it wears away throughout the day. That isn't to say that I don't wish they had also put out an opaque version of this color. I'd recommend dabbing Myth (or some other super-light nude matte opaque color) on before using this to get that effect. It's the most flattering lipstick I've ever used, I love it and I bought three backups of it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Patina (Frost)
rated 5 of 5
rochas2 2/13/2010 11:18:00 PM

I remember trying this on the first time I went into a MAC store, the mua was guiding me towards other stuff but I insisted on trying this on. For some reason, it didn't show up on me in that store lighting, so I didn't get it. Three years later, I got this in a swap and I'm pretty sad I missed out on this for so long, it's an awesome duochrome. It's a kind of teddy-bear brown color with copper and pink flash. I find duochromes are always brought out best on the lid.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Haux Eye Shadow

Haux is Haute. It's a dirty dark pink that is great in the crease, especially for tan or dark-skinned ladies.

Lipstick -MAC - Costa Chic
rated 4 of 5
rochas2 1/26/2010 12:42:00 AM

Whoa, hell yes! I got Red Full Stop but really felt that the sheer look didn't suit this kind of super bright pink color, luckily Costa Chic is a perfectly opaque version of it. I almost didn't try because this is labeled as a "Frost", but I would call it a "Satin" if anything, which is awesome. Okay, this may not look so flattering right now, but I'm holding out for the summer, I'm sure it'll look hot.

Lipstick -MAC - MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Black Knight
rated 4 of 5
rochas2 10/10/2009 7:55:00 PM

Pretty sweet, gives you a nice black vinyl look (after much layering, but there's no real way around that with a black lipstick I don't think) much like the YSL runway makeup last season. Really more of a novelty although I suppose you could use it to darken up other lipsticks. I really can't put this on without reigning it in with Nightmoth lipliner, I wish MAC had promoted Nightmoth with this collection or had put out a black lip liner, it's pretty necessary, especially with the cremesheen formula.

Eye Shadow -Fyrinnae - Loose Powder in Crimson Ghost
rated 5 of 5
rochas2 9/30/2009 10:57:00 PM

I got around fifteen eye shadows on my first Fyrinnae order ever. Overall I was pretty disappointed with how they translated to my eyelids, in swatches they looked great, but no matter what method of application they looked sparse and glittery and uneven on my eyes. There were two big exceptions to this, Jade Ghost and Crimson Ghost. These define the word 'flash'. Crimson Ghost is like Vex on steroids. It has a super striking pink flash that works great in the corner of the eye and over other shadows.

Lipstick -MAC - Viva Glam VI Special Edition
rated 4 of 5
rochas2 9/8/2009 11:35:00 PM

I hated this at first because it was simply so different than the swatches and descriptions I'd seen online - I was thinking it would be a light baby pink. However I love it now. This is a mid-tone to dark (but sheer) Purpley-Pink. Much like a darker version of creme cup. So 90s! I love it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Shroom
rated 4 of 5
rochas2 9/7/2009 3:21:00 PM

I swatched all my 'highlight' shades today next to each other to try to pick up the subtle differences and decide which are too similar and I could swap away. Unfortunately, this did not work and I discovered they were all unique and I really couldn't do away with any of them. They ended up forming a kind of rainbow. Shroom ended up being the 'pink' one of the bunch (Femme Fi was the peachy one, Stila Cloud was the purple one, for reference). It's super pretty, buttery, and makes a great corner of the eye shade.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Makeup Art Cosmetics Notoriety Eyeshadow Quad
rated 4 of 5
rochas2 9/4/2009 10:23:00 PM

These shades are super pretty and pigmented. They go together really really well and I think the artist did an amazing job putting together colors for these quads in this collection. A couple notes about some of the shades: Skintone 2: A really awesome gold that I haven't quite seen from MAC before. It's really is a gold that I've been looking for for a long time, yellow gold but not too yellow and dark enough to use as a lid color. I would wear this alone with red lips. Notoriety: Chalky and applies unevenly with primer, but I love the color you end up with. Really great crease shade that doesn't go red or too dark on me, which happens with a lot of browns. I would recommend using this as a base for both the gold and the peach bronze, it creates a really awesome effect Rich and Earthy: similar to Expensive Pink, but Expensive Pink is a bit more red/pink. This is a bit less saturated so I find this a lot more wearable. Really beautiful. The only gripe I have about this one is that the colors are too light (and jointly too frosty) so they kind of wash me out. They are the kind of shade that makes you not want to put on mascara because the mascara would look too harsh in comparison (you might know what I'm talking about). As a consequence, this doesn't translate to my look very well. I think this would look unbelievable on dark skin.

Eyes -MAC - Photo Realism quad Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection
rated 5 of 5
rochas2 9/4/2009 9:51:00 PM

this quad FLOORS me with its beauty. Each shade is unique and they go together like pieces of a puzzle. I'll go through each shade: Photo Realism : this is a beige base with a bright gold flash, the only shade of the four that I think has a candidate dupe (Solar White). Gorgeous. I wouldn't use it as a brow highlight though, a bit too flashy for me, but perfect for the corners of the eye or over another shade. I also like using Rose Blanc as the corner-eye shade with this quad. Fresh Approach : great frosty spring green. When I say spring green I don't mean a yellow green, its just a lighter green. This one really ties everything together for me, I put it on the center of the lid and it really brings out my eyes. Image Maker : is so unique, the perfect satiny mix of green and gray. I could just wear this as a wash. A fantastic lid color because of it's satin texture and it's mid-tone qualities. This one really makes my blue eyes look crystally and pretty. Probably my favorite. Grey Range : a dark, thundery green with a bit of blue. This is indeed a bit reminiscent of Club with a black base instead of a reddish brown. It's really awesome, I feel like I'm underselling it. It makes a fantastic crease shade with the others, but also an absolutely amazing lid shade with a black crease, so so hot. Typographic should be the fifth member of this quad (-: Overall, the best quad I own. It looked beautiful in swatches and I was actually surprised that this is very wearable and actually looks better on your eyes than swatches (Not the case with notoriety quad...). The payoff *could* be better, but they are light/less saturated shades so I think that makes it seem like they have less payoff, I used UDPP base with them and was satisfied with the outcome. If you get easily annoyed with payoff however, this isn't for you. Green grey is the best idea ever and that artist totally killed it with this one. I have so much <3 for this.
