Cleansers -Nuxe - Cleansing Milk with 3 Roses (Lait Demaquillant aux 3 Roses)

I do not know how, but it got into my eyes, and stung! Very creamy so i found it a bit difficult to tissue off efficiently esp. around the eye area. I still love cleansing waters, they are the best! :) The smell is also pretty overpowering, and too oily to be used on its own without double cleansing.

Moisturizers -Jurlique - Calendula Cream

Bought this after reading good reviews, and after Pangea Organics Italian Mandarine & Rose moisturizer wrecked major havoc on my skin! Needed a simple and gentle moisturizer for everyday use, and to fix this mess. I like this cream very much, as almost a week after using it, the red blotches and pimples from the Pangea Organics moisturizer calmed down and disappeared. It can feel a bit too matt, and hard to spread if i did not apply it asap straight after toner, or when my fingers were too dry. I guess the trick is to use it straight after shower while skin is still a bit damp. Anyway, the moisturizing effect is pretty good (it's late autumn here) despite it not being a proper moisturizer. Makeup goes on pretty smooth after that too! One thing i hate is the packaging, as many here do. It's tricky to handle aluminum tubes, and i have wasted much cream by accident. Used them on elbows and knees when it happened. Ok, will still buy this product since it is the cream that counts :) UPDATE: Indeed after using this too long without additional moisturizer, the skin on my nose started peeling, maybe from lack of moisture and the weather getting colder and dryer. So, i added a light moisturizer on my nose and cheeks after this calendula cream (which is not oily, pretty smooth) and it helped! No whiteheads formed from this cream as of now, just one or two surface clogs which is fine :)

Cleansers -L'Occitane - Almond Apple Cleansing Oil

Got a full bottle of this from a friend who did not like it. Have always been using cleansing oils so i thought it would be the same. FIrst of all, i noticed that this one does not clean as thoroughly as Fancl cleansing oil. And also it is also inevitable not to get a tiny bit of product into the eyes no matter how hard i try.... i got this strange squeaky sensation in my eyes after every cleansing/shower session. Anyway i have used two other brands of cleansing oils before apart from this: Fancl and DHC. I would rank Fancl as the best, followed by DHC and L'Occitane. DHC and L'Occitane wrecked some havoc on my skin, i have been getting these small white pimples, which i attributed to maybe a wrong moisturizer or something... but in the end, the problem disappeared after i ditched cleansing oils completely and switched to cleansing water. I am using Bioderma's Micelle Solution, and MUCH better......

Skincare - Face -L'Occitane - Extra-Gentle Cleansing Milk Shea Line

Hmmm... not a super big fan of this product. It cleanses okay, but leaves an oily film that needs another cleansing. I felt soothing to the face when i wiped makeup off with a cotton pad, but still something it stings a tiny bit, and don't get product in your eyes! There are better products these days esp. cleansing waters for very sensitive skin, even to be used on eye lids with no problem at all. I recommend Bioderma's Micelle Solution, which wipes makeup clean, and does not leave a strange film and does not need double cleansing. On my second bottle now, and just got the giant 500ml sized one :)

Gels/Soaps -L'Occitane - Amande Cleansing and Soothing Shower Oil
rated 5 of 5

Love the smell sooooo much! Love the soothing sweet smell that lasts, and stays in my sheets. if you use this everyday, the whole apartment will smell of this :) It is more moisturizing than conventional shower gel/foams, but is not as moisturizing as i have expected it to be, esp. for colder months. So, i would say i like this for the smell, mostly. I recommend though that it is best to use it up quickly towards the end, because otherwise it will gel up, smell funny and look pretty disgusting.

Moisturizers -Pangea Organics - Facial Cream - Italian Red Mandarin with Rose
rated 2 of 5

I should have read more reviews before buying this. Got it on impulse in the store because i ran out of moisturizer and badly needed one. I was using samples of Nuxe creme fraiche which was super awesome, but figure that the price was too expensive (>7000yen!!) and decided to buy something else. I have combination skin on the dry side, and winter is approaching so i got this one. It felt good on the back of my hand. But after using for more than 2 weeks continuously, my skin broke out kinda bad. Red bumps started appearing, not good at all. The store refused to refund, so i have written to the company to see if they will refund, or at least let me exchange it with other products for the body. Never will i use Pangea products on my face again. Kinda risky, and will settle for milder smelling ones.

Cleansers -Fancl - Mild Cleansing Oil
rated 5 of 5
roachz81 4/23/2011 7:40:00 AM

I like this a lot. This product cleanses makeup effectively and still leaves the skin smooth, without an oily feel. I tried a few days of using this alone and not follow-up with a second wash and skin was good with that. I have used Shu Uemura cleansing oil, and L'Occitane Almond cleansing oil. In terms of cleansing power, the Fancl one outperforms the three. It removed and rinsed very clean. Shu Uemura on the other hand still leaves an oily film which needs to be washed off. L'Occitane is more "watery" and doesn't clean as well as Fancl. One thing is despite the mildness, try not to get the product in your eyes. I always end up doing that and I swear i could hear "squeaky" sounds everytime i blinked after using this product. That stopped after i tried to be more careful.

Cleansers -Fancl - Washing Powder
rated 2 of 5

Despite the good reviews, i had a bad experience with this product.... I used it according to the instructions but i got some bad breakouts from it. I have normal-dry skin during winter, and decided to give this a try. Despite the claims, my skin felt tight after washing. I quickly slapped on moisturizer. After using it for a week, skin still felt tight, and started to break out. The strange thing was i felt as if my skin had become thinner and more fragile, and the zits looked weird. My skin recovered after i chucked this thing away!

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Rohto Hadalabo Gokujyun Super Hyaluronic Moisture Lotion
rated 5 of 5
roachz81 4/23/2011 7:08:00 AM

I got the "light" version of the moisture lotion, and love it! I like it more than the regular lotion which can be a hassle as it takes longer to absorb into the skin. This is different than a typical toner, which one might use to wipe off extra dirt after cleansing. Yes, it is more like a "sponge" that enhances water retention on skin. I like using this lotion together with a light moisturizer. I used to use Kielh's Ultra Facial Cream for extreme weather to combat dryness (which is also pretty good) but then i decided to skimp and buy something much cheaper. I think this lotion works as good in terms of moisturizing power, and costs much cheaper! I like to use a lot of it at night with a light moisturizer on top and wake up to nice skin, and this was sufficient for winter time. No flaky skin :) So far, i have not developed any allergic reactions to this product, even around delicate eye/lips area. One thing that i am confused about is this product leaves a sheen on my skin (NOT the "oily" variety), which a light mineral makeup layer does not cover or look completely matte. Looks as if i have dusted a layer of highlighter on my face, which ain't bad at all :) Maybe it's the moisture.... Regarding why it is called "super" hyarulonic acid and why is it different from other products, the label indicated that the molecular weight of the hyarulonic acid in this product is much smaller (nanoparticle), which increases absorption and assimilation into skin.

Fragrances -Annick Goutal - Petite Cherie
rated 5 of 5
roachz81 4/23/2011 6:39:00 AM

This is my FAVOURITE perfume of all time! I fell in love with the smell when i tested it on at a store, found it really pleasant and went for a bicycle ride after. The sweetness is subtle, a little hint of floral but fresh at the same time, and i could not help smelling myself (while cycling!!) and decided this was what i have been looking for. The perfume really made my day and gave me such a good mood :) But sadly....... the price was prohibitively expensive in Japan, 12000yen (USD120) for a 50ml EDT. I hesitated for quite a few months and finally i had a chance to go to Paris. I passed by the Annick Goutal store by mistake and rushed in! I got a 100ml Petite Cherie EDT for 98 euros which the is same price of a 50ml in Japan, outrageous... I was so happy and the service at the store was sooo good. A very fashionable elderly lady advised me to get the EDT instead of the EDP. She said EDP can be too heavy, and said that if i wanted it to smell stronger, all i had to do was to spritz it a few more times. She gave me a bottle with lovely blue polka dot ribbons which was a limited edition. Before i left the store, she told me to stand still, came with a bottle, and sprayed me all over, and bid me goodbye with a "voilà"! My friends then told me that the lady who served us was the same lady whose picture was on the wall! So, she was Annick Goutal herself! Indeed this was one of the most memorable shopping experience that i have had :)) In terms of the EDT's lasting power, i think it lasts pretty well. I usually do 3 spritz before dressing up: left and right from 30cm away on the general neck-chest area, and one in the air to walk into. Usually the smell still lingers until around 4-5pm on a normal work day, but smells "warmer". I am very satisfied with this product and would definitely repurchase.
