Cleansers -Boots - No 7 Beautiful Skin Cleansing Water Normal/Oily
renee1100 5/30/2013 7:29:00 PM
I'm very happy with this cleanser. I do use waterproof eye makeup, so I use a double action eye makeup remover for that, and then use this cleansing water all over my face and eyes afterwards. It removes my face makeup, and leaves a silkyish feeling behind. At least it doesn't leave my face feeling taut and dried out. This is the first cleansing water I have used, so I can't compare it to Bioderma or Dior or any others. I do like the price compared to the others though.
Toners -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - Sea Mineral Toner
renee1100 1/13/2013 8:49:00 PM
I like this toner. The price is great, and the toner itself feels fairly decent . Not drying or harsh like many toners on me feel like. I don't really use it as an extension of my cleanser to wipe away what was left after removing my makeup. I just happen to like sea minerals, and I use this before my retin-a and moisturizer. I wish it was a little more moisturizing, maybe with a bit of glycerin, but it doesn't strip my face or make it feel tight.
Moisturizers -Estee Lauder - Swiss Performing Extract
renee1100 12/12/2012 10:01:00 AM
I gave this a 5 star rating because it never fails to moisturize my dry winter skin. We have a wood burning stove that dries my skin and makes me stay flaky all winter, but this really helps to combat the flakes and does it's job well. This is heavily fragranced, so if you are sensitive to strongly scented products this would bother you. I do like the nice heavy glass bottle....just feels substantial and elegant. I know that tubes are more hygienic but what can I say? I love the feel of heavy glass!
I've been wearing this for 4 days now, and I'm really pleased. I work outside, so I usually only wear mineral powder makeup because liquid makeup really shows up outside. This gives me great coverage, looks like my skin but better, and stays on all day. I don't know if I'll be able to wear this in the summer when it's hot and I'm constantly sweating (or glowing as my grandad called it), but it sure looks good right now! I took a mark off because it was $42 plus tax which for me is high. Edit 12/31/11. I just updated my rating from 4 to 5. I love this product. I have had compliments on my makeup and I work in a barn. Outside, in the harsh daylight which is so unforgiving on any makeup mistakes or makeup that doesn't match. This is the only foundation I have ever used that looked natural.
Cleansers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Cleansing Pads
renee1100 10/16/2011 9:55:00 PM
Great cleansing pads. The pads are very thick, and feel good...they are slightly textured, so you get some scrubbing but the feeling is not too abrasive. The pads are insanely wet and it really suds up. Removes all of my makeup. I do use a toner afterwards, and the cotton pad with the toner doesn't pick up alot of left over makeup or dirt. It's almost white. Does not leave me feeling overly dry like alot of cleansers do. I do have to rinse my face after using....since this suds up so much I feel like it needs to be rinsed off. I really like these pads. I believe I will be repurchasing when these are used up.
This worked for me. I have atrocious feet. Callous, cracks, dry skin. I can use a foot file till the end of time and it barely makes a difference. I used this twice in 2 days, and I can see a major improvement. I still have a ways to go, but at least I can tell I've done something. I haven't had the problems others have mentioned here. Yes, my foot is rough after using the grater, but they are smooth after using the emery board side. I will continue to use this and hopefully one day I will have pretty feet!
Lip Gloss -Revlon - Colorstay Mineral Lipglaze, Forever Fig 510
renee1100 9/16/2010 10:57:00 PM
I like. The color is very pretty and looks great with my skin NC 42. Kind of like a nude but better. The consistency is slightly thick and sticky, but just for about 30 minutes, after which it thins and becomes just a little sticky/tacky. The color stains my lips so that after a few hours you can still see color. I want to try some more colors now.
Works great on my fine, thin hair without weighing it down or making it greasy. I've never been able to use serums because of above but this works well!
Lipstick -Giorgio Armani - Rouge D'Armani pink 502
renee1100 12/11/2009 7:39:00 PM
I love this new lipstick! This is a long lasting formula and it lasts pretty well. Creamy, not drying. The color is gorgeous...I am NC40 and it looks nudish on me. The container is great...it's magnetized so the lid doesn't accidently come off while in my car or handbag. I love it!
Eyeliner -Trish McEvoy - Definer in Deep Aubergine
renee1100 11/4/2009 9:36:00 PM
There is nothing more I can really add to all of the great reviews already here....but to say I love this! Very beautiful color, smooth as silk application, and lasts pretty well all day. I use this with Mac Shroom over my lid, and this in the crease and as my liner under and over my eyes. Very pretty! I've got this in Bronze too which I love. I want to try some other colors too. I also love her eyeshadows. I want to try more of her line....
Treatments -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - TCA Peel
renee1100 11/3/2009 10:35:00 PM
I have been using MUAC's 55% Lactic Acid peel for 4 weeks now, and have finally mustered up the courage to try the 15% TCA peel. I applied this tonight, and will update nightly until the peeling process is done so I can write it down while fresh in my mind.
I did a spot treatment tonight instead of a full face peel. I did my forehead and between my eyes where I have the eleven ( 1 1 ) lines. This didn't burn as much as I anticiapted....it never became unbearable enough to have to use a fan. I put it on, waited 5 minutes and applied a second layer for another 5 minutes. I used some squalane with lavender essential oil to moisturize with and it tingled a little when I applied that, but that went away a few seconds later. I will update tomorrow night!
Update 11/04: Nothing to report. No tenderness, no flakiness, nada. The pamplet says it typically takes 4 days to start peeling....
11/8: My skin must be very used to peels...or tough as nails or something. I never peeled, only got a little flaky right between my eyes...where I have my "eleven" lines....and it was very mild flakiness at that. I guess I need to leave this stuff on longer or do a 3rd layer. I'll update or do a new review when I do this again....
Skincare - Face -Makeup Artist's Choice (MUAC) - 55% Lactic Acid Peel
renee1100 11/3/2009 10:30:00 PM
I've been using this for 4 weeks now, once a week. It does not irritate my skin at all, does not make me flake or peel. This exfoliates my face, and leaves it very smooth and fresh. I do have 3 sun or age spots on my face and it has not lightened those at all. But, it HAS improved the overall texture and appearance. I use this on the back of my hands and bottom of my feet too. I had a little ecxema (sp?) on the bottom of my right foot, and this has almost eradicated it. The bottom of my feet are a nightmare....I am on my feet constantly, and they are rough and calloused. Using this twice a week on my feet has diminished the callouses considerably, made them softer and easier to use a file on. This is not a miracle product, but it DOES do a good job of smoothing things out quite a bit. I will go up to the 65% when I have finished my bottle of 55%. I recommend this!
Powder -Unlisted Brand - Lillian Skincare Mineral Foundation
renee1100 10/26/2009 9:40:00 PM
I am really happy with this foundation. I also have several mineral eyeshadows and blush from this company that I love. There is no bismuth oxychloride, talc or silicones in this and I like that. There was a good color selection and the coverage is very good. I am VERY ruddy and this covered the redness. I also like the finishing powder...it comes in one color, and since I am dark complected....for reference I am MAC NC42, most finishing powders are too light on me...but their's wasn't. This is a very nice mineral foundation, if you like minerals! The website is http://lillianskincare.com/
Cleansers -Boots - No7 Quick Thinking 4 in 1 Wipes - All Skin Types
renee1100 10/18/2009 11:06:00 PM
I love these!!!! They remove all of my makeup including my Maybelline Full and Soft Waterproof Mascara. They do not dry my face out and they were only $6.99 at Target. Convenient to use, portable and the cloths are nice and thick, do not tear, and one does the job. I will be buying these again!
sigh. As much as I love Jane Iredale foundation and blush, I hate the eyeshadow. This stung my eyes and made them water, and even though I used Too Faced eye primer, this faded away to almost nothing. Literally. I used the triple cognac trio, and it faded so bad that it wasn't even apparent I was wearing eyeshadow...it looked like I had slept in my makeup and just decided to not wash my face and I was wearing yesterday's makeup. So disappointing. And it was so expensive too. Dang almost anything is better than this! No recommendation.
