Lotions/ Creams -Fresh - sugarbath body lotion in lychee
rated 1 of 5

I bought this lotion because of the fabulous scent but after extensive use, I got really sick of the scent. It started to remind me of Hawaiian Punch - a sickly sweet smell. It also does a terrible job of moisturizing and my skin feels dry again after a few hours. I regret buying this lotion on a whim and won't be buying it again! It comes in a plastic bottle now ($30 ... can't remember the amount you get) but if you want a pump it's an add'l $3. Not worth the money IMO.

Lotions/ Creams -Bliss Labs - Lemon & Sage Body Butter
rated 3 of 5

I've gone through 2 tubes of this lotion and really like it, but considering the hefty price tag I feel like I can find something cheaper that does the same job! The tube is convenient to use but I had difficulty getting the last bit of product out. This is definitely a rich, thick and creamy moisturizer that's perfect for the cold, drier months and is probably too heavy for most in the warmer months. It smells great but goes on a tad greasy if you use too much.

Palettes -Bobbi Brown - Neutral Lip and Eye Palette
rated 4 of 5

I really liked this palette for daytime use. The packaging is ingenious and the colors will flatter everyone. I didn't mind the taste of the lipsticks, my only complaint would be the storage of the lip brush and dual-end eye shadow/liner brush. There's one slot for both brushes so they can contaminate each other; I only use the eyeliner/shadow brush and carry my own retractable lip brush. It's a bit expensive but the convenience of carrying a small compact around sold me on this! I always take it on trips - I use minimal makeup when I go out.

Conditioner -Fresh - Pomegranate Conditioning Hair Rinse
rated 1 of 5
redsoxfan 3/17/2004 4:21:00 PM

Absolute crap! Totally did not condition my hair! I've used my GWP sample for 3 rinses now, and it hasn't detangled or softened my hair. I think it's good for healthy shiny hair that doesn't need a heavy conditioner, it just didn't do anything AT ALL for me. The scent is nice after about an hour; for the first hour it's really overpowering. I definitely will never buy this product.

Treatments -Frederic Fekkai - Protein RX Anti-Breakage Treatment Mask
rated 5 of 5

I really love this deep conditioning mask! I got a sample of it first, and after using it just once following the directions, saw instant results! My hair was smooth, silky and very shiny after using the sample. I ran out and got the full-sized jar ($30 for 5.5oz) and have never been happier! I have very fine hair that's been highlighted and processed, and found that this keeps my hair from breaking. Definitely recommend this over the Shea Butter mask from the same company.

Treatments -Frederic Fekkai - Hair Mask with Shea Butter
rated 2 of 5

I didn't really like this product! I found that FF's Protein Rx Reparative Treatment Mask worked much better on my dry, straight & fine color-processed hair. The tube is great, but the mask comes out very thick. I found it difficult to work into my hair. For the money, it's not worth it IMO! I got better results w/ the Protein Rx line.

Moisturizers -Molton Brown - Instant Matte Shine Control
rated 2 of 5
redsoxfan 2/27/2004 1:13:00 AM

I was very excited about this product but once I bought it was quickly disappointed. The packaging is pretty nice, until you use the pump dispenser a few times and it suddenly stops working. I had to return my first bottle for a new one (wish I had just returned the bottle for store credit in hindsight!). This product is "for unbalanced combination skin . This ultra light moisturiser contains purified russian larch mushroom to minimize pores and chaparral to re-hydrate. Encourages a fresh, firm and matte finish." It comes in a 30 ml/1 fl. oz. bottle and is about $40-50, the scent is pretty nice but my biggest complaint is that it does not keep my face matte *nor* does it exhibit any shine control. Even Oil of Olay's Oil Free moisturizers were better than this one. Definitely not buying this product ever again!

Lip Treatments -Smith's Rosebud Salve - Smith's Strawberry Lip Balm
rated 5 of 5
redsoxfan 2/27/2004 1:07:00 AM

HG Lip balm here!!! You can't beat the price ($5 for a tin that lasts me a long time)! I really hate lip balms that you have to apply w/ your finger, but I've forgiven the makers of this salve because it's such a good product. I use it all over my dry mouth area in the wintertime and I don't break out from it! It smells amazing too :) I gave it a 3 for packaging because I hate tins and the tin itself dents easily.

Treatments -Darphin - Overnight Refining Lotion (Desincrustant Lotion)
rated 5 of 5
redsoxfan 2/25/2004 10:50:00 AM

Great stuff! The first time I used this, I was amazed. I bought the full-sized tube after the Neiman's SA raved about it and some MUA-ers recommended I try it. There are some complaints about the tube packaging, but I just store the tube upside down in my skincare mini-crate and I've found that the product doesn't pool in the cap. I use this whenever my skin needs a pick-me-up and apply over Darphin's Purifying Vitaserum. It definitely has a strong smell, but I dab on some Niaouli Aromatic Care under my nose to mask the scent. I've found Darphin products to work better than the medication my derm prescribes, and figure that Darphin's ridiculous price tags are worth the clearer, smoother and radiant skin the products give me.

Treatments (Eye) -Darphin - Arovita eye and lip gel
rated 5 of 5
redsoxfan 2/25/2004 10:42:00 AM

I've been using the NM gift-with-purchase for months now and it still hasn't run out. I don't think I'll actually buy this product because I have so many eye cream samples. I'm only in my 20s so this gel has been perfect for addressing my puffiness and dark circles. I only use it at night and I've liked this better than Lancome's Primordiale and Sisley's Eye and Lip Contour Complex (the clear gel stuff). I don't use an eye gel during the day, but I think this would be great (still looking for a good day eye cream w/ SPF).

Eye Makeup Remover -Lancome - Bi-Facil Double Action Eye Make-up Remover
rated 5 of 5
redsoxfan 2/25/2004 10:38:00 AM

My HG makeup remover!!! I only use Maybelline Great Lash waterproof mascara, and it takes it off in a second! Non-irritating, and never any problems putting in my contacts the next morning. I don't even bother with other makeup removers... I end up trying new samples and then giving them away since they don't compare!

Treatments -Darphin - Purifying Balm
rated 5 of 5
redsoxfan 2/25/2004 10:27:00 AM

I've only been using a small sample jar of this balm, but I can already see results the morning after using this stuff!! Like many others, I was wary of putting anything with oil on my acne-prone skin, but Darphin's products are just amazing - the Purifying Balm no exception! I use this once or twice a week after a deep-cleansing mask and toner! The sample jar will probably last you 1-2 dozen applications -- you only need a little bit of the product each time you use it. The first 2 times I used it, I put on way too much and you really need just a *tiny* amount!
