I used the Redwood (Auburn) shade of Castings on my dark brown hair, thinking it would brighten my hair up a bit and not be damaging like permanent colors. Well, my hair turned out dry as straw and the color was way darker than it showed on the box. You couldn't even tell I colored my hair. The color results were also uneven. There was a pretty reddish cast only on the back of my hair. The product was very drippy but did clean up easily. I have since had much better results with permanent colors such as Herbal Essences without as much damage as Castings did to my hair.
