Polishes -Essie - Mademoiselle
rated 3 of 5

I don't know why this is such a popular nude/MNBB colour. For me, it's not a winner because: -application/drying time same as for coloured polishes, which is annoying. It's easier to apply a good nail treatment (like Ciate) which dries off in a second and gives that same milky shine, than do the whole 2-coats + drying time in-between that I do with Mademoiselle. -it looks really good the first day (2 coats), but by second day it's just not as nice and neat anymore - the bits around the side edges look a bit whiter, the surface of the nail is not as smooth, and the shine is not as nice. Meh, I'd rather do the Nails Inc South Molton street.

Bronzers -The Body Shop - Honey Bronze Bronzing Powder
rated 5 of 5

Awesome bronzing powder! What I love about it: -goes on evenly -natural, subtle colour -no shimmer -can use it all over my face over light foundation or tinted moisturizer OR as a bronzer only -affordable The only negative is the gold writing on the top has started coming off after only 1 month of use, so looks a bit cheap. Other than that, love it.

Treatments -Clarins - Capital Lumière Day Cream
rated 4 of 5

I bought this moisturizer as a bit of a treat to myself and also to qualify for a GWP. it's AUA$120, which is about twice the amount I would normally spend on a day moisturizer, so my expectations were pretty high. The consultant was so eager to sell it to me (it just had been launched) that she didn't bother mentioning it's targeted for mature skins. I'm only 29, and don't normally buy anti-aging prods. Ok, so the cream is quite rich and you only need a little bit for the whole face. It absorbs quickly and is easy to smooth over the face. While rich, it doesn't feel too thick or greasy and absorbs quickly. Great base for makeup. Over time ive noticed an increase in luminosity, and it keepa my skin moisturized in winter (well, Australian winter is not that harsh anyway). Not bad, but wouldn't pay so much again. Oh, and the jar packaging is unhygienic, obviously trying to appeal to the more mature market.

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Body America- Lip Butter
rated 1 of 5
rediska 4/26/2011 8:45:00 PM

This is the worst lip balm product ever. It actually dried my lips even more after about 10 minutes of having it on! Has a very strong smell (mine is New York cheesecake) and leaves a sickly sweet synthetic taste on the lips. I've already chucked it out after 2 uses.

Liquid -Shiseido - Perfect Refining Foundation
rated 2 of 5

I tried a sample of this foundation and didnt even finish it! The worst foundation I have ever tried. Goes on like a mask, feels very dry and not blendable during application. I have very oily skin and my face started getting oily and getting that im-wearing-maskey-make-up feeling quite quickly.

Lip Liners -Too Faced - Luster Liner Pearl Effects Lip Pencil
rated 3 of 5
rediska 3/10/2011 12:40:00 AM

I have this pencil in Tahitian Pearl. It's a frosty pink lip crayon that can be used all over the lips. The texture is very smooth anf gliding on application, but it does dry the lips afterwards. For me, this works the best as on top of a lip balm, as the balm soaks up some of the frostiness, but I dont have much use for it otherwise. It's a bit of a blah product for me.

Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - Cannage Eye Shadow Quad - Whisper Grey 002
rated 4 of 5

This is the prettiest palette packaging I have ever seen! Encased in a stitched-through PVC box with little metal trinkets of D-I-O-R letters, it's a cute little addition to my make-up shelf. The colours are all very soft, white for highlighting, bare pink, shimmer grey and matte grey. For me, the matte grey is the star colour. It's not as sheer as the 3 others and builds up to a satiny bluish-grey. There are many variations in the ways the 4 can be combined and you can stay grey or take it into the blue. The staying power is not fantastic as the texture of these is so soft and they crease within the first 4-5 hours. Not staple quality, but an elegant delight of the season.

Eye Shadow -Laura Mercier - Sequin Eye Shadow in Violetta
rated 1 of 5

This is an amazingly disappointing purchase. I thought it was gorgeous when i tried this and the Peacock one at a counter and decided to go for it an an impulse buy. Big mistake! -A lot of sparkly fallout, which stays on my face. -Sparkle factor is over the top (might be nice for New Years's or something). -When I finally do build the colour, it looks garish and tacky, and it's more like disco purple blue, nothing like the translucent dreamy wash of colour I was after and thought I would get from this sheer texture.

Eyeliner -Chanel - GRIS SCINTILLANT
rated 3 of 5
rediska 3/9/2011 11:47:00 PM

A beautiful grey colour pencil with fine silvery shimmer. The texture is quite soft and easily blendable. The pencil comes with a little rubber eraser on the end and a sharpener. My problem with it is that it doesnt last! It lasts on my eyelids for about 3 hours and doesnt survive the work day even under the eye! Will not buy again.

Beautiful luminous shade. Goes on smooth and silky, blends well and stays well. Recommend it to anyone looking for a base for warm/bronze/brown make-up.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Vitamin C Smoothie in Absolute Acai
rated 2 of 5
rediska 11/3/2010 2:07:00 AM

A really forgettable product. The colour seems to disappear pretty quickly - asin, the product would still be there but the colour will have faded from the original colour to some generic pink hue. I'd actually noticed that before with clinique gloss tubes before. Just a very meh, overpriced product. I have the warm fig one, btw.

Got a 5ml sample as part of GWP and quite enjoyed using it. +light, non-greasy +absorbs quickly and easily +pleasant light moisturising effect +doesnt clump under make-up I'd have to see how much it retails for, but could consider buying it.

Scrubs -LUSH - Ocean Salt
rated 3 of 5
rediska 10/28/2010 2:18:00 AM

I can't say I like this product though most of the reviews below will argue otherwise. What I don't like: *Can't figure out the texture - there are huge chunks of salt in it which I would imaging just scratch the surface of my skin on contact. Rubbing the product between fingers doesn't seem to break up the salt chunks, well, it is salt after all. You'd need a grinder to break it up. *Smell is really synthetic and alcohol-y *The product has these big blue swirls through it - I guess to convince me how "ocean"-ey it all is, but I really hate rubbing my face with all that fluorescent blue dye.

Lipstick -Christian Dior - Diorama
rated 5 of 5
rediska 10/28/2010 2:12:00 AM

Beautiful subdued coral, which looks fresh and pretty and not intense. I line lips with a pinkish liner when I want to bring out the pink a bit more and give a bit more definition, or wear it on its own for an elegant daytime look. The staying power is quite good, not drying on the lips either during or after wear. My only gripe is the packaging - the cover has really sharp corners, for reason I cannot understand.

Eye Shadow -Guerlain - Terracotta Fard Metal Eyeshadow & Liner - 02 Smoky Metal
rated 3 of 5
rediska 8/29/2010 5:03:00 AM

I bought this e/s because I seem to be in love with anything in the Terracotta range, and while I love the sophisticated nude bronze colour and long-lasting quality, there are also some definite negatives: -Quite dry - I seem to be rubbing it a lot to get it on my lids -Hard to blend -Seems a bit precarious in the tube and the stick of product actually popped out once so I had to push it back in.
