Liquid -Dolce & Gabbana - Perfect Matte
rated 5 of 5

I'm a huge makeup junkie and foundations are no exception, no matter the cost! This is a beautiful satin matte finish foundation that wears extremely well with no touch ups needed. I have mature combo skin with large pores but not a lot of discoloration. This goes on with medium coverage that truly can be built to full coverage without looking cakey or overdone. And after a few hours, it actually melds, like a mineral foundation, more into your skin to look slightly glowy without looking oily. Beautiful finish! I have this at present in Caramel 110 which is good for NW 25. I'm actually a 30-35 and was told the Caramel would be fine, but find it just a bit too light, so am ordering this in the Warm Rose 130 which Sephora just added to their shade selection. I don't think this is like CoverGirl whatsoever, but of course, that's IMO, and each person has to figure out if this extreme price is worth it, but OMG it IS a beautiful foundation that makes my skin look more beautiful! I found the best 'swatches' at Harrods website, by clicking on the color square name at the right and then looking at the bottle itself on the left, (-NOT the color square), it's surprisingly accurate. -more so than Sephora's or Sak's site. http://www.harrods.com/product/perfect-matte-liquid-foundation/dolce-and-gabbana-makeup/b12-0804-033-DGM-069

Concealers -Cle de Peau - Concealer - Beige
rated 3 of 5

I agree with lisamarie, this product is sooo overrated. I got this in Beige, nice match for my NW25 skin, but there's just nothing special about this concealer- I can think of three that are at least as good and actually more workable - Bobbi Brown's stick concealer in many shades, Tarte's Smooth Operator, stick as well, in three shades and Urban Decay 24/7 concealer pencil in eight shades, with UD being favorite.. Save your money girls unless you are really in love with it already for whatever reason.

Liquid -Clarins - Everlasting Foundation SPF 15
rated 5 of 5
rebeccameredith 5/2/2012 9:17:00 AM

This is my HG foundation - I actually love the MAC Matchmaster almost as well, but it tends to break me out if i wear it for more than a few days in a row. and has a bit of oil breakthru half way thru the day. Everlasting actually has a bit more coverage - making it a full coverage IMO - it lasts all day and if i take a moment a time or two thru the day to rebuff it with a mineral makeup brush, it melds my breakthru oil back into the foundation/skin and looks better than ever. The trick in applying is to blend it a bit at a time as with all long wear foundations - this gives me and my large pores the nicest finish ever and doesn't actuate my lines and creases. My skin looks refined and finished with just a scant amount of my very red places showing thru. It's been very difficult to find a foundation with good coverage that doesn't look or feel heavy and wears wear, and doesn't accentuate my older skin. My only two complaints are that the nozzle tends to clog so have to clean it out with a toothpick about every three days and that the shade range has nothing darker past Amber 112, which is about an NC30. So I have to mix it as I get more color in the warm months - I picked Lancome's new Teint Idole 24 hr. in a very dark shade so that i can add as little to my Clairins as possible to not mess with the formula and finish. You will get a lot of lighter skin tone ranges out of this Clarin foundation, so sure to get a match there. I've tried so many foundations thru my life in all price ranges, and this one I keep coming back to!

Palettes -Smashbox - Beauty Exposed
rated 3 of 5
rebeccameredith 4/23/2012 3:42:00 PM

My sister and I both bought this set at Ulta's. It features a box of shadows with a face highlighter, a coral red sheer gloss, an eye pencil in a matte taupe brown, a blush in Peony, and a small size of their face primer. First, we both noticed when we got home that the blush and eyeshadows were not nearly as pigment rich as the tester! In fact, the blush looked so much paler and insignificant compared to the color and density of pigment we tested, I thought maybe someone had put the wrong blush in my kit, but no, there was the name on the bottom, Peony. The blush in the tester, a powder, was brighter pink peach that took very little to lay on color. IN fact you had to be very careful and my sister got an overdone cheek full without trying. The one in the kit is a much paler, sort of a nothing special pink peach that you really have to swirl your brush in to get any color payoff. The shadows weren't as bad and seemed as color true, just not as densely pigmented. - my sister really likes the eye palette portion - the eye pencil is a bit dry and not as pigment rich as I'd like - the all over highlighter is a pale warm gold, it is an okay result. The gloss though, in Starfruit, is a sheer, very pretty coral popsicle like color. It's my favorite item of all. I just wonder if anyone else has had this same disappointing experience.

Stick -Laura Geller - Real Deal Foundation SPF 15
rated 2 of 5
rebeccameredith 1/7/2012 10:59:00 AM

After trying other stick foundations out there (sadly, my favorite Avon Mousse stick is discontinued) this really is surprisingly poor qualilty for Laura Geller. It's not terrible, but it's not great either. It's pretty dry and somewhat 'chalky' feeling - you get better results if you put it over her primer, but it's still not the quality I'd expect. It looks very makeup-y, even sheered out.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #130 Short Duo Fibre Brush
rated 5 of 5
rebeccameredith 2/14/2011 4:54:00 PM

This brush is great for applying any liquid or cream makeup of any sort - the size is portable and very useful for getting into the smaller places of the face i.e. around eyes and beside the nose. The amount of coverage and the finish are very controllable with this. i will tell those who are looking for a good stippling makeup brush that either can't afford or just simply don't want to shell out this kind of money for a brush, or maybe just need a back up sometimes, i found the avon mark blush & bronzer flat top brush to be just excellent too, except it does tend to shed. It's a bit larger than the MAC #130, but it's about 1/4th the price of this brush if you get it on sale. Otherwise, though , the MAC #130 is like the luxury/quality version.

Eye Shadow -Bonne Bell - Eye Style Shadowbox in Big City Pinks
rated 5 of 5
rebeccameredith 2/14/2011 12:28:00 PM

i love this set of colors from bonne bell. i'm usually a high end makeup junky, but couldn't resist what looked like the perfect set of pinks i've been looking for. the quartet features a very light fairy pink, a warm rose pink, a deeper purple rose wine, and then a deep slate blue. All of these are good pigment, some sheen, and a little bit of very fine glitter flecks. Over a primer, they wear just great. these suit perfectly my hazel eyes and skin tone (NW-20). Just beautiful, and I ordered two more sets online because I couldn't find them at my drug store any longer, but love them!

Mascara -Lancome - L -extreme Mascara
rated 2 of 5
rebeccameredith 1/21/2011 11:35:00 AM

I can't believe Lancome and this mascara - it's expensive, so you think that it would have overcome the age old nemesis of wearing mascara, that is, smudging and flaking. this does both. If i could find the box and/or receipt, I would return this huge mistake.

Lipstick -Burberry - Soft Satin Lipstick Mocha
rated 5 of 5
rebeccameredith 7/15/2010 12:19:00 PM

I have this in Mocha and am ordering it in Prune. The lipstick is exactly what it says, soft satin finish, highly pigmented. Mocha is a warm brown with a bit of red - it's somewhat sheer, or can be built up for heavier coverage. It smells wonderful, a bit of vanilla, wears about medium leaving a faint stain. It's definetly pricey at $30 - I'd detract one lippie for that price except it is such a LOVELY lipstick formula and case - found it online at Nordstroms. The lipstick case, which is a very chick smokey mirror look - holds the top on by magnetic pull! It will reposition itself correctly if you give it a slight twist for it to settle into place. I love this and will get many other colors.

Stick -Avon - Ideal Shade Mousse Foundation Stick
rated 5 of 5
rebeccameredith 7/2/2010 2:47:00 PM

I LOVE this stick foundation. It's the perfect blend of creamy but good coverage without being sticky (no pun) or hard to blend. It stays on well and so portable for touch ups. unfortunately, i looked at their site (avon.com) to order another stick , and it's not on there at all. Even though this product gets excellent reviews from most customers on their site and here. Don't know whats up with that. So if you love this, email Avon or let your rep know that you want this back in their line of foundations. I have this in several colors to go thru the seasons. Right now I wear Honey which is NC/NW 40
