Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Leighton Denny - Nail Colour Lollypop
razzledooda 7/7/2012 11:25:00 AM
Lollypop is a fairly bright watermelon pink. It doesn't look particularly special in the bottle, but after 2 coats on my fingers, my nails looked beautiful! I gave it 3 coats for extra durability. I love the colour so much and the way it looks on my skin tone (quite pale). I could imagine this colour looking amazing on any skin colour. The polish lasted very well for me for at least 7 days with no major chips, a little tip wear and just a little gap near the cuticle from nail growth. I used a base coat (Dior Base Speciale), 3 coats of Lollypop (and painted the tips) and topcoat (No 7 quick dry top coat). Very impressed so far with Leighton Denny polishes. The quality is very good, the colours are amazing (also check out Supermodel - a surprisingly flattering deep nude). I will keep on the lookout for more Leighton Denny colours.
I am a nail polish freak but until now had never tried Chanel polishes. I bought Miami Peach on a whim in the duty free store at San Francisco airport. I was tempted by several others, namely the bold pinks e.g. Rose shades but Miami Peach looked so cute and unusual. I felt the pinks could be found in other, better value brands. After having worn Miami Peach for some 5 days I am very impressed. The polish is glossy and has lasted well. There was a little tip wear, but nothing major. A tiny chip on my thumb because my nails are a bit weak atm. I used Nail Magic as a base, 3 coats of Miami Peach and a generic clear top coat from Whole Foods. Likes: - So so glossy - Nice formula. Smooth, dries well, easy to work with - Colour is very pretty. Not too bright but makes your hands like polished and elegant. - Received compliments on my nails when shopping Dislikes - After 3 coats can still see nail tip slightly I clicked yes to buy again, but in reality I have so many nail polishes I don't know if I would.
I have the EDP and the EDT. The bottles are beautiful and the scent is light, sweet and quite rosey. I like how it smells on my skin, however even the EDP doesn't last long at all. Maybe I just can't smell it on myself? My friend did compliment me when I was wearing this and she really wanted to know what is was. It's romantic and feminine but on the subtle side. Quite nice but too expensive to buy again. I like it, but not enough to pay the RRP.
Lipstick -GOSH - Velvet Touch Lipstick #134 Darling

I really wanted a nice nude lipstick and being a GOSH fan I decided to check this out. The reviews sounded positive. The reality was different. I am quite pale and this lipstick just looked awful on me. It looked like badly applied chalky concealer on my lips. Awful. Also made my lips look really dry. Had to remove it and could not wear it because it looked so bad. I tried using lipbalm beforehand on my lips, but it still looked like concealer. Still hunting for a nude lipstick that suits me!
Primer/ Corrector -GOSH - Velvet Touch foundation primer

Not sure why this product hasn't scored more highly. I really love it. I like the slippery silicone feel, makes your skin feel velvety smooth, makes makeup easier to apply, look better and last longer. It's not super expensive either. Doesn't work so well as an eyelid primer. I use UDPP for that. Will repurchase!
Shu Uemura lashes = king of lashes. They make your eyes look huge and pretty, without looking OTT. I adore these lashes. I keep mine in their cases and they can be reused again and again. A beauty essential. I have two pairs. I love them! A must try. You will understand the hype once you have tried them.
Bought on a whim in Poundland. Had very low expectations as I prefer high end cosmetics brands, but this lipgloss is excellent! Wow! Colour is very natural and similar to my own lips but adds a little colour and some shine but still looks natural and not frosty (yuck) or sparkly. Can't believe this lipgloss is so nice. Smell is not bad, texture is good, not too sticky. Really hope it hasn't been discontinued as I'd like to buy more when this runs out. Great everyday lipgloss.
Good handbag/travel size mini hairbrush. Good enough for everyday use and basic blow drying. Hairbrush was fine initially. However quality is poor. Some spikes have fallen out and the hairbrush pad is crumbling and keeps popping out of place. Not the quality I had expected. Would not buy again. Disappointed with quality.
Polishes -Boots - No 7 Stay Perfect Nail Colour "So Simple"
razzledooda 1/9/2012 11:40:00 PM
No 7 polishes seem to be hit and miss. "So simple" is a lovely nude colour that looks great on my pale skin. I would describe it as natural and a creamy finish. Looks elegant on the hands. It's non sparkly but if you look v closely has the tiniest shimmers to make your nails shine. Really like this colour, it's a pleasure to use, decent formula, lasts well. A great nude nail colour to have. After 1 coat looks streaky, looks better after 2 coats but not *perfect*. Also looks good with big gold glitter on top (I use Saffron London bought on Ebay). Would probably repurchase if I ran out, though one bottle will last me a while. Would not buy for the full price (could get OPI or China Glaze which are generally better quality polishes), though if you use £5 No 7 voucher, it's worth it. I love this shade very much but the formula could be slightly better quality. If I come across a dupe in OPI or China Glaze, I would prefer to buy from those brands.
I used to love this product as it gave a natural glow and subtle highlight, however I found that it doesn't work with all foundations and sometimes goes a bit streaky. Also must be carefully blended otherwise it stands out a lot on the skin. Final gripe is packaging/applicator. Would prefer a pump for hygiene as the nail polish-esque applicator is annoying and not the most hygienic. Would not repurchase due to packaging and doesn't look great with some foundations. Have found better and cheaper replacements e.g. Catrice limited edition highlighter powder. Shame because High Beam is a fairly decent product.
Love this product. I have pale skin and used the darkest colour. Looks scary and BRIGHT pink before blending but once applied gives a lovely, natural pink glow. Great texture and lovely colour. Looks natural and pretty. Am fond of the Face Fabric too. Only downside is it's hard to find in the UK and quite expensive for the amount you get. Will repurchase next time I go to the US for sure. One of my favourite blushers ever. Give it a try!
Mascara -Lancome - Custom Design Double Mascara. Morphing Lash Effect
razzledooda 1/9/2012 10:04:00 PM
Interesting product idea. One end is a standard mascara, the other adds drama or defines the hard to reach lashes. Although the latter is an interesting idea and looks pretty good, in practice I rarely use it, which is a shame. I would have preferred this product to have one end as a primer/base and the other as normal mascara as I would use both all the time. The normal side mascara is very good. It has been my everyday mascara for ages and has lasted a long time. Doesn't smudge and makes my lashes look good. It is starting to dry up, which is a bit annoying but in fairness I have been using it for a long time. This is a very decent mascara and I would repurchase another Lancome mascara but not this one as it seems wasteful to have the end that I rarely use. Lancome do good mascara.
Wow. Lovely mascara. I've tried many and this impressed me. Made my lashes look lovely and separated. No smudging and lasted well. Very happy and would buy again once I have used up my existing mascaras. Armani make beautiful cosmetics, great formulas. Intend to use as my HG mascara.
I must be weird as lots of people seem to love this product. Packaging looks nice and is quite glam, has the Guerlain signature gold handle. Hard to apply, not black enough and messy to use. Better off using a pencil and smudging it (e.g. Urban Decay 24/7 or Lancome). Didn't like this product much and gave it away. Shame because I like Guerlain and it was pretty and expensive.
Product is quite good but not amazing. Pros: - doesn't smell awful like most nail polish removes - cute, small bottle, good for travelling - seems quite effective Cons: - not that cheap per 100ml It's a nice enough product and I would consider using it again, but it hasn't wowed me. The main pro for me is that is doesn't smell horrible, however I do my nails often so get through nail polish remover pretty quickly so would probably use something cheaper. Might repurchase if on offer. Not so bothered if full price. It's not expensive as such, just not as good value as Sally Hansen or Cutex, for example. It has earned extra lippies for being cute and not smelling too bad.
