Cleansers -Paula's Choice - Hydralight One Step Face Cleanser - Normal to Oily/Combination Skin

Eh. After a disastrous experience with Paula's Hydralight Moisturizer, I was willing to keep an open mind for the rest of her products. This cleanser didn't do anything to hurt my skin, but it definitely didn't much positive for it either. I know other people have said that it removes makeup, but it would not remove even my light every day makeup without vigorous scrubbing. I don't absolutely hate it, but it's not worth buying again.

Conditioner -Dove - Sheer Moisture Leave-In Replenishing Mist

I absolutely love this product and can't really say much more than that. I have long, fine, non-color treated hair that is prone to greasiness. This did not weigh it down and takes care of most tangles. The smell is relatively light and neutral. It's very affordable and one bottle lasted me for at least several months. I've even used it to detangle fringe on an old scarf. My only complaint is that I now can't seem to find it locally. I hope it didn't go off the market.

Moisturizers -Olay - Complete Defense Daily UV Moisturizer SPF 30 (Non-Sensitive Formula)

I've been using this for a few weeks now and so far, I love it. Good coverage, goes on easily. It's very similar in texture to their SPF 15 products. Leaves my skin feeling moisturized and looking great, but not too greasy. Wears well under makeup. I just wish they would sell it in a bigger bottle. It's only been a few weeks, so if that changes, I'll come back and update. But I used their SPF 15 products for a few years with good results and I have had equally good results from this one so far.

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals ALL
raych 4/6/2009 3:09:00 PM
I really tried to get on the mineral bandwagon, but I can't. The BE foundations I tried looked great. For about 10 minutes. After that, they sank into my face and every possible line and crease there could be. I don't have serious wrinkles, and I'm often told that I have great skin and look like I'm 5 or more years younger than I am. But this product seemed to add years to my face. My mother told me that I was applying the products incorrectly, using too much. I tried for months to apply the products using as little as possible, but it never worked. I also found that using the eye colors was difficult and sloppy. They just got all over the place and had very low pigmentation. I thought about giving just one lippie, but since it didn't actually hurt my skin I had to give it credit for something.

Moisturizers -Olay - Complete Defense All Day Moisturizer SPF15

This is a great, affordable everyday moisturizer/sunscreen. I've bought the combination/oily skin version off and on for several years and always have great results. I continue to stray because I enjoy trying new things, but this is the one I keep coming back to. I am looking for a higher SPF, though, and I understand that Olay makes an SPF 30, so I think I'm going to look for that.

Deodorants -Tom's of Maine - Natural Deodorant
raych 2/26/2009 8:05:00 PM
I wore this product every day for about a year. It worked fine in all types of weather and levels of activity. Then I wore it on my wedding day expecting that it would work then, too. That was a mistake. I put it on mid-afternoon when I was getting dressed, then after a few dances realized I smelled kind of funky. I should point out that I am involved in dance performance as a hobby and I had worn this deodorant for shows, rehearsals and classes and never had a problem. This was specfic to my wedding day. I suppose with the extra nerves I was giving off more odor/sweat/whatever. So if you use this daily, but you have a very important event coming up, you might want to switch to a more traditional deodorant for the day.

Moisturizers -Paula's Choice - HydraLight Moisture-Infusing Lotion
raych 2/11/2009 9:50:00 AM
To be blunt, this is the most disgusting thing I have ever put on my face. After hearing people sing the praises of Paula, I was excited to try her products. I purchased her three-step line for oily skin and planned to try it when my current products ran out. This morning, I ran out of my moisturizer, so I tried this lotion. I don't understand how it could possibly be described as light. It felt like I was applying crisco to my face. And the smell...I can't describe it, but it was so putrid that I actually gagged. I had to grab my regular cleanser and wash it off within minutes of putting it on. I am not terribly sensitive to odors, but this was not something I could have gone through the day wearing. I know that Paula is anti-fragrance, but really this could use something. I am willing to try the rest of Paula's products, but this will never touch my face again. And I'm much more skeptical about the rest of the line now.

Shampoo -Nature's Gate - Herbal Hair Shampoo

Like other reviewers, I love the smell of this product. This works on both my hair (long, fine, with a tendency toward greasiness) and my husband's (long, curly, with a tendency toward frizziness). Good general shampoo and more affordable than a lot of what's at the health food store. I only rated it four lippie's because they are not truly a natural brand as they imply. They may have been at one time, but this does contain sodium laureth sulfate, so if you're looking for an all-natural product, this isn't one.

Blush -Aveda - Petal Essence Face Accents - Peach Lights

I've been using this for a few years now and love it. I use it with the Aveda Dual Light Foundation. It can go on light or dark, depending on how you want it. It also has great staying power. It's still there when I get home from work every day and rarely needs retouching if I go out at night.

Powder -Aveda - Inner Light Dual Foundation

I have used this product for about two years now, after switching from Bare Minerals. I couldn't be happier. Applying dry gives moderate to full coverage, without sinking into creases. For an average day, I recommend applying sparingly and adding as needed. Applying wet gives very full coverage, enough for use in my dance performances. If you apply wet, I recommend allowing the pan to dry before you close it up again, otherwise it will harden and it will be difficult to use dry again. This is also very long-lasting. I can put it on early in the morning, come home after work and then go out at night for dinner or with friends and it rarely needs any re-touching. Price is the only downside, but I'm willing to let it slide for the quality of the product.
