Foundations -Wet 'n' Wild - Coverall Cream Foundation
randers 4/20/2013 10:28:00 PM
I needed a darker shade of foundation for the summer, so I picked this up on a whim. Wow, this stuff is amazing! This is a medium coverage foundation that blends nicely to a matte finish. I'm most impressed with how well it blends. It's not greasy at all, it almost acts like a cream to powder formulation. Only the crem de la crem of foundation can offer medium-heavy coverage and not give a makeup look, this does that. The only two downsides I can see are 1) limited shades (I lucked out) and 2) the packaging, the hole is too big and too much comes out at once. But considering it's $4 ($3 with the attached coupon) and is comparable MUFE foundation, it still gets a 5 lippie.

Mascara -TheBalm - The Body Builder
randers 10/14/2012 7:41:00 PM
I got a deluxe sample of this in a MyGlam bag. I was excited to try it; I love TheBalm products but their Cheater mascara did NOT work for me at all so I was curious if this would. Sadly, this mascara did not work for me at all. It has a very waxy formula that dries quickly. This is great if you need your mascara to hold a curl, and it does minimize flakes. Unfortunately, because it dried so quickly, I just got a lot of clumps and I wasn't able to get to the base of my eyelashes before it dried. If you like really hard, waxy formulas that add volume quickly, you might like this mascara. Personally, I prefer a thinner, more malleable formula and a brush with more bristles, like L'Oreal Voluminous or Maybelline Full n Soft, and this is pretty much the antithesis of that concept.

Shampoo -Trader Joe's - Tea Tree Tingle Shampoo
randers 9/30/2012 11:33:00 PM
I wanted so badly to love this product. I love the scent, the price point, and the ingredients list. Unfortunately this simply didn't perform at cleaning my hair. As others have mentioned, it really does not cut through oil well, even moreso than other paraben free products I've tried. It's really too bad because the conditioner works just great. If you're the type that can go four days without washing your hair and don't tend to get an oily scalp, this may be worth checking it. But if you have an oily scalp and need a decently strong shampoo, this is probably not for you.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - The Feminine Palette
randers 9/28/2012 5:43:00 PM
This is the sleeper hit palette in my makeup collection. I originally got it about a year ago, and didn't do much with it for the first couple months. I have rediscovered it and it is now my go-to palette. This palette is very cool toned with a good combination of neutral and fun colors. Between SWF, Midnight Cowgirl, Stray Dog, and Darkhorse, you have all the components for a day time neutral eye. The blue and purple shadows are very pigmented and work well with the other shades in the palette. Darkhorse works great to line the upper and lower lids, and Stray Dog is my favorite taupe ever. The packaging is great; I like the magnetic lid. It's perfect size for travelling and handy that it has a spot for an eyeliner. The value is there since you get an eyeliner and a primer along with it. Just a great product overall.

Treatments -Bumble & Bumble - deeep treatment
randers 8/10/2012 5:03:00 PM
I'm really torn about this product. This is my first protein treatment product. After using a large amount of the product and leaving it on for a long period of time, I felt like I really could see the benefits, which are unique from a simple deep conditioning. But I've got several major bones to pick with deeep. First, I had to use SO MUCH product in order to saturate my hair. I got the mini bottle for $7, and I swear I need to use 1/3 of the bottle for full saturation. I know bumble and bumble is expensive, but most full products last me at least 6 months ... at this rate a full bottle of deeep would last me 1.5 months! The other is the smell. The scent reminds me of chemical, overripe bananas. Really disgusting and annoying since I have to keep it on my hair for at least 20 minutes.

I looooove the smell of this shampoo and conditioner, it's simply heavenly. This leaves my hair very soft, I'm not sure how much volumizing it really does.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Brilliantine

I got a packet of this in my order and I've been hoarding it because I love it so much. It's sort of weird that bumble & bumble claims on the package that they can't define what it is, but it seems to be a styling substance that adds sheen and separation. I like this product because it tames my hair when it's frizzy and thick, but it never feels greasy or oily like hair oils sometimes do. It makes your hair feel sleek and slippery, if that makes sense.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Tonic Lotion

This is my HG leave-in conditioner product. For reference, I have slightly wavy hair, and a lot of it. The tonic has a wonderfully refreshing tea tree scent. It tames my frizz and conditions my hair without weighing it down.

I got several packets of this with my order and I've been trying it out. My hair is wavy and often I will scrunch it up for beach waves. This product smells nice and leaves a pretty sheen, but it seems to make my hair greasy really quickly and weighs it down. Not my favorite product. :/

Eye Shadow -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Trio - Silent Treatment
randers 5/25/2012 1:27:00 AM
Like all the other reviewers, I bought this soely for the eyelid shape. I was not disappointed; it is an amazingly creamy and pigmented taupe/lavender. I love it because it's got a hint of color but still neutral enough to be work friendly. The crease shade is also very nice, but I was surprised by the lack of pigmentation of the browbone shade. It doesn't impart any color at all; just sheen. However, the other two shades are SO GOOD and the packaging is so compact that I'd still give it a 5.

Eye Shadow -NYX - Trio TS3 - Nude Taupe Dark Brown
randers 5/25/2012 1:18:00 AM
I was looking for a basic taupe palette and have heard good things aout NYX, so I picked this up. What a disappointment! The light shade is very powdery, and the taupe has absolutely terrible pigmentation. The dark brown is decent, but since I bought this primarily for the taupe, back to ULTA it goes.

Eye Shadow -TheBalm - Nude 'tude
randers 5/11/2012 1:26:00 PM
As others have said, this is a great neutral palette. There are a nice variety of shades and finishes. The dark mattes are especially impressive; they are so creamy that I can easily use them as liners. There are a few less impressive shades; Snobby is just yellow glitter, Sophisticated and Silly are a bit chalky and dull in color. The others are all home runs. Overall a good buy if you want a neutral palette with both warm/cool shades. I see this regularly marked down to $20 at theBalm's website, HauteLook, Groupon, TJ Maxx, etc, which is a FANTASTIC price considering it's $50 Naked palette counterparts.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
randers 5/9/2012 7:17:00 PM
This is a great eye shadow primer, there is no doubt about it. You can be confident your shadow will last all day. The main issue I have with this product is the packaging - - I have the genie bottle and the purple paint flakes off onto my fingers when I hold it. Of course I use my fingers to blend the UDPP, so then I have metallic purple flakes on my eyelids. Not cool. I wish it was easier to depot this stuff, I don't particularly want to break open the bottle. However, I do like the variety of shades and UD is offering some steep discounts on the genie bottle, so I might buy another one. It's worth the gymnastics of not touching the actual bottle, I suppose!

Eye Primer -E.L.F. - Eyelid Primer
randers 5/9/2012 7:04:00 PM
I skimmed through the other reviews, and I noticed that a lot of the negative ones are folks struggling with the nature of an eye shadow primer in general. I only use two eye shadow primers: this one and UDPP original. I have to say, they are VERY comparable. I use them interchangeably and I have not noticed a different in wear or shadow pigmentation. The only difference is that when applied, ELF's has a thinner, more oily texture and it takes a few minutes to dry. Once dry though, texture is not a factor - - there is no difference in quality. Really, the only negative of this formula is that it you need to minute for it to dry completely. I actually prefer this to UDPP because of the thinner formula (easier to apply) and I like the packaging more. And it's $1, that helps too.

This is a very strong formula, and with a strong formula there are benefits and drawbacks. Pros: Great coverage Matte finish Amazing longevity Cons: Matte finish (bad for photos and can make skin look dull!) Amazing longevity (impossible to get off!) I keep this around for special occasions, but I can't use it on a regular basis because it causes me to break out. Probably because it's very hard to get off. A great foundation but high maintenance.
