Lip Gloss -Urban Decay - Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss
ralkire1 9/28/2012 10:49:00 AM
Yes the smell is different but to say it's God awful is a little much... It smells more like Cocoa Puffs cereal to me and I don't think it takes away from the gloss at all. In fact, it's nice where everything isn't fruit scented and these are no different. I am a huge sucker for packaging, and I love love these. Each one having a different "outfit" is bonus too and I love giggling like a 10 year old girl every time I re-apply... which is only every few hours as this stuff has pretty good staying power. It is a bit sticky, but most glosses are and as long as you don't over-apply there should be no issues. SO sad these are being discontinued... I am slowly picking them up from various online sources in the different colors as I expect to be using these for a long while in the future... (:

Bath Treatments -LUSH - fizzbanger bath ballistic
ralkire1 9/17/2011 11:01:00 PM
Really love this one! Coloring is a light yellow but when you drop it into the tub the inside is blue which ends up turning your bathwater a pretty apple green. The LUSH representative said this is supposed to be a "hybrid" of the bath bombs and bubble bars, and after using this I would agree. It doesn't fizz a ton but I do see it working and there is soft "crackle" noises from this which is supposedly the same chemical that the candy "Pop Rocks" uses. My skin also felt incredibly smooth and silky while in the bath. Only negative is the price; I paid $5.95 for this in Seattle and considering it's a one time use... that's a mighty expensive bath. If I had extra money to spend, I would repurchase this.

Polishes -OPI - Its a Doozi Says Suzi
ralkire1 6/12/2011 8:38:00 PM
Great color! A true deep red that only needs 2 coats to achieve a perfect, even color. Looks great on both pale skin (more vampy) but when I have a bit of a tan it looks great too... very complimentary and work appropriate. It looks girls but not over-the-top and the shimmer isn't garish or super noticeable... it just blends in and gives your nails that little bit extra. My bottle also has the pro-wide brush which makes application go very quickly. Love this shade!

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri Mauve It
ralkire1 5/29/2011 9:15:00 PM
Love the color; love the brush! I think the color is a pretty but muted soft pink that is very wearable to work. I don't think the color is spectacular or insanely original, but the brush and dry time makes this a winner for me. Two coats was all I needed for full coverage. The brush allows easy application (it's wide and thin and the "bristles" are more rigid allowing for better control so three swipes max for each nail). Dry time is under 3 minutes, and overall I think the polish has pretty good staying power for Sally Hansen, around a week for me. Plus if it chips the color makes it not super noticeable. I would re-purchase, and I am looking into other colors in this line.

Polishes -Lancome - Sandswept
ralkire1 4/24/2011 12:11:00 PM
HATE this color. I rediscovered this in my makeup drawer and thought it looked pretty in the bottle and would fit my "neutral" mood well... boy was I wrong! The best way I could describe this color on my nail is very sheer with an ugly orange/yellow tint. Think, 70 year old woman who has smoked 3 packs of cigarettes a day for decades and my nails are yellowed and discolored because of it. I am considering throwing this color out completely because I will *never* wear it again, which is sad because it's Lancome which is usually high quality.

Polishes -OPI - Gargantuan Green Grape
ralkire1 4/24/2011 12:05:00 PM
So disappointed by this polish. The color looks so cute and fun in the bottle but it ends there. Like other reviewers have already mentioned, the formula is quite streaky and runny and full opacity doesn't occur until 3-4 coats. Also, after wearing this polish for only *2* days, I had my index finger polish chip off 3/4 of the nail which has NEVER happened with any other OPI polish (I had applied OPI base coat and Seche Vite as a top coat). It might have been a fluke but was very disappointing considering the price. If you are looking for a great mint green polish my recommendation would be Re-Fresh Mint by China Glaze... they aren't super close but it fills my need for a mint green and the quality is 100x better.

Polishes -Essie - Chinchilly
ralkire1 4/17/2011 5:08:00 PM
This color is a bit hard to describe. It's like a grey taupe that comes off very neutral. In different light settings it changes shades so overall I would rate it a 3. This was my first Essie polish I ever purchased right when it came out, and I wear it to work where my polish must be neutral but I can't say I really love it. I do like the small bottles and the fact they are square (which makes it easier to store), but I do wish they had wider brushes like OPI and China Glaze. Will not repurchase

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Be Fine-Exfoliating Cleanser with Brown Sugar, Sweet Almond and Oats
ralkire1 4/17/2011 5:04:00 PM
I honestly don't know how this has gotten so many great reviews... I have tried it several times and I still hate it. I usually use my Clarisonic to cleanse my face but if you use it along with this product your face will be rubbed raw. I have tried it without the Clarisonic as well and I am still very unimpressed as I seem to get oily much faster. I do like that it's all natural but I think it smells a bit weird and would rather use a different exfoliating product (like St. Ives). I received this in a smaller tube to try out and will be using the rest as an exfoliator for my body, but I will not be repurchasing once I run out. ):

Polishes -China Glaze - For Audrey
ralkire1 4/11/2011 10:21:00 PM
Favorite polish color! I originally bought a very similar shade from Essie (Turquois and Caicos) but the application was horrible and the price was overboard. China Glaze For Audrey is the perfect shade for any outfit, and I love that I can pick it up from almost any Sallys. This color is a must have for everyone!

Polishes -Essie - Turquoise & Caicos (Resort 2010)
ralkire1 4/11/2011 9:31:00 PM
I bought this color looking for a Tiffany box blue and I think it's pretty darn close. When compared to China Glaze's "For Audrey" there is a very slight color difference but overall they are both similar. The application is a bit streaky like other reviewers already mentioned, so the better of the two in my opinion is For Audrey (CG). Price is a bit high due to the streakiness and opacity (or lack thereof; you will need 3 coats guaranteed). It seems I have only talked about For Audrey in this review (sorry!), but the Tiffany blue color was really the main reason I purchased this and I found better elsewhere!

Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Dry Fast Top Coat
ralkire1 4/11/2011 9:24:00 PM
Overall I think this is a great top coat. The dry time is incredible (I usually wait 10 minutes and I am good for whatever), and the price isn't bad at all. Yes I do get some shrinkage with this and I do know that it has quite a few chemicals that are "bad," but I still really love this for my frequent polish changes. I don't really think the wear is too bad either; after a week it still looks pretty good and I can be a little rough on my mani/pedis. I have read that it thickens quite easily but I haven't experienced anything like that yet (still have three quarters of it left and I use it a LOT). Will continue to use!

Polishes -Color Club - Worth the Risque
ralkire1 4/11/2011 9:17:00 PM
Really love this polish! I read reviews before hand and bought it online so the price was great. When I received it I was actually a little disappointed... at least until I put it on and when outside in the sunlight. Wow! Looks beautiful and very holographic, but toned down enough where it isn't obnoxious. The application is great as I used about 2 coats for full opacity (over a base coat and then sealed with Seche Vite top coat). Highly recommend this polish!

Polishes -OPI - Lincoln Park After Dark
ralkire1 4/3/2011 3:47:00 PM
This was the first OPI polish and what a great color to jump into a brand! Like other reviewers have said, this is a dark plum that looks almost black unless the right color hits it. The more layers, the darker it appears... (: I bought this for a work Christmas party and did a "french manicure" with blue-green nails and this as a "black" tip. I use this color often for a vampy effect to take away from a preppy outfit. Love this color; one of my definite favorites from OPI!!!

Fragrances -Marc Jacobs - Daisy Eau de Parfum
ralkire1 4/3/2011 3:07:00 PM
Love this! This is my go-to scent for every day. I have the regular bottle and also received a roller ball version which I keep in my makeup bag for after I work out. This smells wonderful; not overly floral and doesn't make me smell like an old lady at all. It isn't overpowering but it is noticeable in a good way. I get compliments on how great I smell often when I wear this perfume. Love this and will continue to re-purchase!

Makeup Brushes -MAC - #168 Large Angled Contour Brush
ralkire1 12/28/2010 8:24:00 PM
This is one of my definite every day brushes. I have tried to use a duo fiber brush (like the MAC 187) for blush and it doesn't seem to work as well for me. Shedding is non-existent since I purchased the brush over a year ago (and I use it every day with weekly deep cleaning with baby shampoo and daily swipe offs on a paper towel with MAC brush cleanser). I will usually get a little blush on it and then tap off excess or swirl the brush a few times in the lid before applying to the apples of my cheeks. It is super soft and keeps its shape if dried correctly (on its side versus with the "brush" up so water doesn't get into the ferrule). My one issue with it is that after daily use it has a very slight pinkish tint to it from blush (even after deep cleaning it), but considering I use this every time I apply blush I think I can deal with that... (; Get this brush if you need a great blush applicator!
