Eyeliner -Stila - Smudge Pot in Plum
raenez 2/4/2005 2:51:00 PM
The Stila smudge pot in black is my eyeliner staple. However, I would advise against the plum. While the purple color is nice, the consistency is entirely different than the other colors. It goes on dry and extremely faint, unlike the smooth, creamy consistency of the other pots. I would definately not repurchase.

Eyeliner -Stila - Smudge Pot in Black
raenez 2/4/2005 2:48:00 PM
Stila's waterproof smudge pots are the best creme eyeliners I've tried so far. The consistency is very creamy and it applies very smoothly. The price is affordable, only $16, and the pot will last practically forever. However, not all colors have the same consistency. The black goes on perfectly, but the purple is dry and almost impossible to work with.

Bronzers -NARS - Laguna
raenez 2/4/2005 2:43:00 PM
I'm PPP, and laguna gave me a believable wash of color, and a subtle glow. It did not come out orangey or dirt-like at all, as is the downfall of many other bronzers. And the shimmer may seem daunting in the compact, but once it's on it's very natural and appropriate for day-time wear. This is my bronzer staple for spring/summer.

Lotions/ Creams -Suave - Cucumber Melon Lotion
raenez 4/11/2004 10:32:00 PM
For the cheap price tag ($2 - $3) and the HUGE economy size bottle, I'd say this was a definite repurchase. If your a fan of BBW Cucumber Melon, you will like this. Not LOVE it, but like it. It's similar, however, BBW's version is sweeter and the fragrance better staying power. The consistency of the lotion is pretty watery, and will not moisturize very well. However, this is a plus in the summer, when you are just looking for something light. On the upside, it dries quickly and absorbs well.

Lotions/ Creams -Suave - Naturals Toasted Vanilla and Sugar Lotion
raenez 4/11/2004 10:24:00 PM
I find this product similar to BBW Warm Vanilla Sugar, but a tad different. It's not quite as sweet as WVS, and instead is stronger on the vanilla and has almond undertones to it. The scent is pleasant, nothing spectacular. The lotion is pretty watered down, but the upside is that it dries quickly and is appropriate for summer, when you are just looking for something light. I only paid $2.00 for a HUGE economy size bottle that will last me clear until the next six months, so I'm happy with my purchase.

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Purely Silk Body Splash
raenez 4/11/2004 4:33:00 PM
The Purely Silk splashes do have a more true scent than the regular splashes, because the alchohol content is a significantly lower. However, I don't think the $17.50 price tag is worth it, because you have to douse your entire body to get any sort of scent, so the bottle goes very quickly and the staying power is horrible. Within an hour the scent is so faint, it's pretty much non-existent. I love BBW fragrances, but I've noticed the staying power with all the products is pretty bad. Now, if they would only come out with an EDT, I'd be a happy woman!

Self Tanners -Unlisted Brand - Savage Bronzer ] [DISCONTINUED]
raenez 4/5/2004 3:13:00 PM
I tried the Savage Bronzer Foam with the self-tanning mitt and the Moisture Glow Tan Enhancer afterwards. I got it from a local Sally's, but BTW if there are none in your area, you can always purchase it as StrictlySunless.com. Anyhow, their self-tanning mitt is now my new ST applicator staple, much better than the hydra sponge (Ben Nye, Jan Tana), sponge on a stick (Au Courant), etc...that have been packaged with other brands. It allows for an even, clean and quick appliation. The bronzer itself did have a faint smell of burnt chocolate, but not too overwhelming. I am PPP, and it gave me a nice, non-orange, light to medium color. No streaking and the mousse dried quickly. However, I noticed that this does wash off quickly on my skin, and doesn't have the staying power of other STs I have used in the past, but for the good quality and inexpensive price ($9) I would definately repurchase. The Moisture Glow Tan Enhancer, I would not repurchase. It is only $5, but it looked unnatural on my skin, between the orange tint and the very noticable chunks of seemingly irridescent, white microglitter in it.

Highlighters -Wet 'n' Wild - Face Illuminator- Toasty Pearl
raenez 3/24/2004 11:43:00 PM
This comes in 3 shimmering, frosted shades: Toasy (a soft, natural brown), Rosy (mauve) and Blushing (a pastel pink). I have all three, and while I do prefer Revlon's Skinlights, this product makes a very good, and much cheaper alternative. You can buy all three shades with money to spare, for what it costs to purchase one skinlights shade. It's a cream with a decent consistency. It adds a nice amount of shimmer to your face, enough to create a dewy, subtle, shimmering glow, but not so much that it looks unnatural or flashy. Some shimmering products, you can only break out at night when you want to hit this clubs, but Wet'n'Wild's face illuminator is appropriate for everyday wear, daytime or night. I have normal skin, and while this product didn't cause any adverse skin reactions for me, it might for those with oily skin. It did feel a tad heavy upon application. But it's a decent substitution for the pricier shimmering products. You can't beat $3.00!

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Sheer Lipglide - Sheerly Bronze
raenez 3/23/2004 11:14:00 PM
The color is a nice, subtle, muted bronze/brown. However, it has specks of gold micro glitter in it that I am not crazy bout and at $10 a pop for a drugstore lipgloss, I will not repurchase this particular color, although I do like the Lipglide line.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Sheer Lipglide - Sheerly Strawberry 090
raenez 3/23/2004 11:00:00 PM
As mentioned in an earlier interview, this isn't the easiest color to mix. It is rather expensive...$10 for what is essentially a tinted drugstore brand lip gloss. And even though the color is "sheer", this color applies a tad darker than I had expected from a lip gloss. I was expecting a light, sheer, pink strawberry, but instead I got an intense red...something more appropriate for wearing in the evening. A little too much for daytime, everyday wear, or for the office.

Liquid -Physicians Formula - Illuminating Foundation
raenez 3/13/2004 2:28:00 PM
This retro glow illuminating foundation is receiving a lot of comparisons to Revlon's Skinlights line. Unlike Revlon's Face Illuminator, it doesn't have noticable chunks of sparkle, however small they may be. It is much more subtle and imparts a nice all-over glow, something appropriate for everyday and even even office wear. And unlike Revlon's Diffusing Tint foundation, it actuallly offers some coverage. The package says it's sheer to medium, and it's true to its claims. It also dries to a matte finish, so those of you who had issues with the skinlights line being a little too oily/greasy/causing breakouts, etc... this may be a nice, skin-friendly alternative. And cheaper too! The normal price runs a little over $8, but because this product is new, they are offering a $4 coupon attached to each package. Buy it before the price goes up! This is my new HG foundation!

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Mega Liner - Black
raenez 3/11/2004 10:39:00 PM
These are great liquid liners for the price. They come in a decent shade selection: turquoise, plum, brown, blue and black. Turqoise and blue are when you want to try something different and funky. The plums looks like a deep, metallic purple in the bottle, but does not look that loud, upon application and is actually appropriate for everday wear, as is black and brown. The brush is thin to allow precise application. The liner dries quickly and does not flake, smudge or smear.
