Eyeliner -Cover Girl - Line Exact
qtpie90 11/25/2010 5:14:00 AM
So the packaging for this is really great, It's like a mini-Sharpie, with a felt-tip brush and makes it easy to apply thin or thick lines. However, I agree that the colour is not pigmented enough, it's way too light and takes about 2-3 re-applications to be dark enough. Plus, the formula runs out way too quickly. Would be a really good product if they changed the formula and pigmentation.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Lineur Intense
qtpie90 11/25/2010 5:06:00 AM
I bought this at a factory sale so I think the version I got is the older one, because the brush I got was not the greatest, it was too soft and makes it hard to draw thin lines. However the consistency and formula of the liner is really good, quick drying and long-lasting. I really don't like the brush though, it puts me off using this unless I have a supply of cotton pads and makeup remover nearby. Though this might be due to my slightly unsteady hands... I prefer the felt-tip brushes (which I think the new ones have?) Anyway, I'm still looking for a good liquid eyeliner but this one will do for now.

Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Moisturizing Cream
qtpie90 11/25/2010 4:56:00 AM
I've had this lying around the house for awhile, I think it was for my brother's eczema, but after I started using Differin and getting super-dry cheeks and sensitive red patches which looked like a bad rash, I remembered the Cetaphil and started using it. It is amazing, before I used this stuff no other moisturisers were healing my skin's uber-dryness and redness, but after using Cetaphil for two days my skin was so soft and didn't flake anymore. I love it, and will continue to use this. However, I have combination skin so I generally don't apply it to my forehead and nose because those areas get really oily, I use a different moisturiser for the T-Zone.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Differin Gel
qtpie90 11/25/2010 4:43:00 AM
I got this through a doctor's prescription a few weeks ago when I was starting to get a lot of pimples again, and I started using this daily at night. Was cheap because it is now government subsidised in NZ, and my doctor said I could even use this for keratosis pilarus (the tiny red bumps frequently seen on arms and legs). At first, the pimples seemed to be getting worse, and I expected this since my doctor warned me beforehand, but I wasn't sure if I wanted to deal with bad acne all summer long before it got better, so I stopped for a few days. Also, I think it made my skin really dry and flaky, especially on the cheeks, it was soo dry, but it got better after using Cetaphil moisturiser. So now it's been roughly a week, and yesterday my skin was really good, even had a slight glow and hardly any visible pimples. However, this morning I've got quite a few annoying large ones again, so it's up and down. Overall, can't judge yet. But it appears to be having some effect, however small. Will let you know how it goes in a few weeks.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous lipgloss in Glossy Rose [DISCONTINUED]
qtpie90 7/21/2010 9:47:00 PM
A pretty good lipgloss, has great staying power, and not overly sticky, though can feel a bit heavy. This a great rose colour, wore this to my first high school ball. The makeup artist used this with Revlon lip liner and it really made my lips look nice and big. It was a bit on the expensive side at NZ$26, but it is a big tube.

Lip Gloss -MAC - c-thru lipglass
qtpie90 7/21/2010 9:35:00 PM
This was my first MAC product I ever bought, and it was pretty expensive at NZ$38 from Smith & Caughey's. I wanted a nude lip gloss, but this one was a bit too pale for me, kind of washed out my lips. Undecided about the really sticky feeling. I always have to dab a little bit of the gloss onto my lips with my fingers since the brush distributes too much gloss and makes my lips look deathly pale/milky white. Leaves a bit of white filmy residue as do most lip glosses. However this got stolen a while ago so I kinda miss it now. But I'll probably repurchase another colour.

Eye Makeup Remover -Garnier - Clean Sensitive 2-in-1 Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
qtpie90 7/21/2010 9:15:00 PM
This is a great remover for harsh waterproof eyeliner and mascara, since it contains oil in it. It even removes my Shiseido Lasting Lift mascara, which is one of the most waterproof mascaras on the market. But it takes a couple of times to get all the mascara off, and it can make my vision blurry for awhile. I wouldn't use it on my face though, since it's a bit oily. At first I was sceptical about the oil and water mix but I find that if you hold it upside down for a bit, the oil part gets separated and you can use the watery part if you don't want your face to get oily.

Eye Shadow -Chi Chi - Eye Magic Instant Eye Shadow
qtpie90 4/17/2010 4:38:00 AM
I have this in the Smokey(?) colour (not too sure of name), and the colours are great; pearl white, silver, and dark grey. The thing about these shadows is that if you just press it directly onto your lids, too much shimmer and white frost comes out and looks quite ridiculous. So the best way is to get a tissue and wipe some of the pearl white shimmer off, so it won't look as crazy. If you blend it well, it looks really nice. I got compliments on my eyes when I wore this stuff, and it's very long lasting too. I love the grey shades, and it's so much easier then applying eyeshadow normally. But be careful not to press too hard, it can blur your vision for a few seconds lol. My only problem with it is that the colour doesn't get distributed on your lids evenly, so you'll often have patchy areas. But this can be solved by getting a shadow brush and picking up the leftover colour from the white sponge. I recommend getting this for balls and special occasions, as it can be quite expensive since there's only 7 strips, and it cost me NZ$15. There's a lot of colours to choose from, but most of them aren't too appealing to me (e.g. pink shades).

Lip Treatments -Chi Chi - Shea Butter Lipbalm
qtpie90 4/17/2010 4:31:00 AM
I have the Lychee flavour, and it smells delicious! Though after a while I did get sick of the sweet smell, but the texture is great, makes your lips very soft and smooth, and comes in a unique sliding tin. However the slide can come off in my bag and then dust gets into it. Otherwise it's a great lip balm, cost me about $12 but you get a lot of product.

Lips -Dr. Hauschka - Lip Care Stick
qtpie90 4/17/2010 2:15:00 AM
Bought this today as it was on sale, but still cost NZ$23, which is really pricey for a lipbalm. It provides instant relief and moisture, but it's not that longlasting, after half an hour or so I feel like I need to reapply again. But great texture, herbal scent is ok, and makes my lips feel quite soft. Probably wouldn't buy it again though because of the price.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Metallic Duo - Electrified
qtpie90 4/14/2010 9:44:00 PM
I bought this at a factory sale last month because the colours looked so nice. The shimmery taupe shade is great for use all over the lids, and the deep purple is good for use on the crease and outer corners. However once you blend it in, the deep purple just looks like dark brown, not really a purple at all. It can look a bit OTT for daytime use but overall it's an amazing eyeshadow. I love it, use it almost everyday! Lightly for daytime, and more layered for nighttime. Highly recommended, but use it with an eyeshadow/blending brush! It's way better than the sponge tips that come with it.

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse
qtpie90 4/14/2010 9:41:00 PM
Ugh I hate this foundation, the shades were very limited and the one I got made me look so chalky and pale. And the coverage is very heavy, and gave my skin a flaky look. Not recommended.

Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara Waterproof
qtpie90 4/14/2010 9:39:00 PM
This was the first ever mascara I used, 9 years ago, and I haven't been able to find one until the other day at a factory sale since it had been discontinued in NZ. Anyways, this was one of my favourite mascaras! I used to have the waterproof version, which really defined my lashes and helped keep the lashes curled after using an eyelash curler. And my lashes were really soft too. Would definitely recommend this.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Colossal Waterproof
qtpie90 4/14/2010 9:33:00 PM
I bought this since I wanted a mascara that holds a curl well, and this definitely is better than a lot of the other mascaras in doing that. It's not too difficult to remove for a waterproof mascara, and I find the effect pretty similar to Lash Blast. Don't like it so much on the bottom lashes, it can get a bit clumpy. But it's probably one of my favourite mascaras next to CG's Lash Blast.

Eyeliner -Maybelline - Define-A-Line Eyeliner in Ebony Black
qtpie90 4/14/2010 9:28:00 PM
My favourite thing about this liner is the definition it gives, I use it as a substitute for liquid eyeliner sometimes because the line you get can be really dark. The bad thing is the stupid twist thing doesn't always work and the crayon liner has broken twice, which leaves me with a teensy bit of liner left. The product is so small, there's hardly anything to start with. And I find it does smudge over the day, at the outer corners of my eyes. But overall an ok liner considering it's Maybelline.
