Toners -Biologique Recherche - Lotion Biologique Recherche P50W Treatment
rated 3 of 5
purrsian 10/22/2012 11:08:00 PM

I like the way BR releases 3 different strength of this lotion, and P50W is the weakest and gentlest. Probably it's by far the best comparing with the similar products from Elemis and Dermalogica. It can treat acnes, scaly skin, rough spots, and warts by thinning down the skin with acid ABHA, but in long run it's hurting your skin. All these skin problems are caused by virus and bacteria, partly it's also caused by over-exfoliating the skin. If you want to cure the problem permanently, go for aromatherapy, add 4 drops of 100% allspice (pimenta officinalis) oil into 20 ml of almost any base oil, apply on the affected area 4 times a day can effectively cure the problem. Can increase the strength if want to see quicker result, or decrease it for areas near your eyes.

Primer/ Corrector -Shu Uemura - Stage Performer Instant Glow
rated 5 of 5
purrsian 12/15/2011 1:25:00 AM

I've been using Instant Glow for a week now and use it daily. All you need is a pearl size and spread it evenly on your face after washed clean face, without toner and other procedure prior to it, and can apply Shu Uemura foam primer sunscreen or foundation to it straight away. This is an interesting product, quite similar to BB cream (blemish balm cream) which has been very popular in Asia since 3 years ago, similar but way better. BB cream always gives a pale ghostly greyish cast and this does not. I'm always allergic to any "glow" product and worried that there would contain some dramatic glitters or sparkles. This one just gives a soft pearly luminmous glow to the skin, it is not tinted, does not alter the skin shade but does smooth and brighten, slightly even out the skin tone. It moisturizes but isn't greasy, does not oil up (mine is normal skin and can oil up on T-zone more than a couple of hours if the products aren't right). It does help the foundation to stay on longer. The lovely pearly glow subtly shows through foundation and loose powder, somewhat light-deflective, so this helps to hide some flakyness, fine lines and other skin imperfections. It doesn't look tinted when its squeezed out from the tube, it's light pearly grey in color, but after you spread it on your skin, and wipe it off with a tissue paper, you can wipe off some ivory beige color. It's how it can instantly "revive" and "even out" your skin, it's by the mineral sustances it contains, not by some powerful skincare ingredients. It's a very good product so far, I won't call this a must-have product if you already have perfectly smooth skin to start with and have no problem on the texture of your skin to apply foundation on, but if you have extra bucks to spend, and you are curious, you can grab a tube of this and play around with. Or nicely ask a SA to give you a sample to try out if possible. I think this 30ml can last a long time, because all you need is just very little, a small dot. It contains some UVA and UVB sunscreen, silicone-like substance, minerals, seawater and herbal extracts. I haven't used it long enough to claim it helps to improve my skin, but definitely it's a very nice primer, could be worn alone on a no-makeup day or some sort of subtle liquid highlighter in my opinion. The ingredients are overall pretty safe, except Dimethicone (similar to silicone) which has the possibility to cause acne to some people. Ingredients: Seawater Dimethicone Aqua Glycerin Hydrogenated polyisobutene Dimethicone/PEG-10/15 Crosspolymer PEG-10/15 Dipropylene glycol Synthetic wax Polybutene CI 77891 Methylsilanol/Silicate Crosspolymer Magnesium sulfate pheoxyethanol Mica Ethylhexylglycerin CI 77491 CI 77492 CI 77499 Boron nitride Acrylates/ammonium methacrylate copolymer P-anisic acid p-Limnanthes Alba Seed Oil Hydroxyethylpiperazine Ethane Sulfonic Acid PEG-6 isostearate PEG-6 Triethyl citrate Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate Limonene Ginkgo Biloba Linalool Aluminum hydroxide hesperetin laurate Rosa gallica Citrus aurantium amara Thermus Thermophillus Ferment Parfum

Treatments -DHC - After Bath Hair Treatment Oil
rated 5 of 5
purrsian 12/12/2011 8:34:00 AM

This DHC hair treatment oil is very reasonably priced comparing with other hair oils on the market, not greasy, doesn't weight my hair down. Easy to apply, can be used on dry hair or damp hair, it makes my hair very smooth, silky and manageable after blow-drying, keeping my frizzy wavy hair straight for days, feeling like I just walk out from a salon every time I use it. The effect lasts until I wash my hair again (which means 2-3 days maximum in winter). The scent is mild and pleasant. I'm happily adding this one extra item as my hair product. It's a must have! Update: 2011/ 12/ 15 I just had an interesting experience and helped me to realize something about hair products, hair brushes (and maybe also with the hair dryer). I'm on a trip and staying in a hot spring hotel. I brough DHC After Bath Hair Treatment Oil with me, but without bringing my Sephora hair brush (it's for hair after ionic perm and anti-frizz, my hair isn't permed). As usual, I applied two drops of dime size hair oil on my damp hair, rub it starting from mid-shaft downward to the end, and using a regular plastic hair brush for blow drying. No matter what I did, my hair looked wavy and frizzy (mine is naturally wavy and frizzy), it just does not give the sleek smooth and silky result I had at home, quite difficult to comb through too. Mind you my hair dryer at home isn't a high-end one, the one in spa might be better. Not until now, I hadn't realized how good my hair brush is and what a hair brush can make a world of difference. Now I know why Mason Pearson hair brush would cost an arm and a leg for. But my Sephora hair brush has been good to me, and there's nothing wrong with DHC hair oil, I will stick to them, and will bring them both wherever I go. :)

Toners -Unlisted Brand - Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar

purrsian 11/28/2011 10:20:00 AM

I'm here to share an old recipe for hair mask, or it can be used to subsitute hair conditioner. ingredients: 1 egg yolk 2 table spoon of apple cider vinegar Mix them well and put it on your damp shampooed hair evenly, covered with a shower cap and wait for 15-20 mins, rinse thoroughly and towel dry your hair. Then you will have very soft moisturized, silky and shiney hair. :) (If you don't mind the stink)

Toners -Weleda - Iris Facial Toner
rated 5 of 5
purrsian 11/18/2011 10:55:00 AM

Thank you Weleda for fixing my ezema within a week! 5 months ago, I went to got a bottle of tea tree oil to treat mosaic warts grown around my eyes and cheeks. That caused some bad chemical burn on my face, and then very unfortunately, i got infected with ringworm and ezema. Probably because it was very hot and I'm a sweaty person. I had a rough time to get rid of them. I decided to stop using all skincares until the condition becomes stable. Last month, I got this toner because it contains witch hazel and lemon juice. I used it with paper masks instead of a regular toner, and noticed I had some red scalely patches on my face after using this, its dry, stinging and a bit itchy. I immediately noticed that was the infected area where i had ringworm and ezema, other uninfected area was just fine. Must be the witch hazel and lemon juice that's working. I stayed home for a few days until those areas turn normal again, the skin on the infected area flaked off gradually, and healing in a week. Now I'm fully recovered, my skin is perfectly smooth and baby-soft, no more nasty things or marks on my face. I don't know if this would be ideal as a daily tone, it could be a bit too drying for me. But I definitely would keep a bottle handy for a toner mask treatment twice a week, especially in spring and summer when the temp is high and air is humid, just to keep those nasty fungus and bacteria away from me! Weleda, can't love you more, you are my hero!!! my saving grace!!!

Moisturizers -DHC - Platinum Silver Nanocolloid Cream
rated 5 of 5
purrsian 11/16/2011 11:02:00 AM

I have a DHC brochure booklet here next to me and let me de-mystify... According to what it says, Platinum used in this product is turned into gel through some nanotechnology, Platinum is known to be a very powerful anti-oxidant and can combat 11 currently known free radicals that cause skin aging. Other than the Platinum content, it also has olive leaf extract, which is known as a health supplement with powerful anti-flammatory property. Also it has with collagen said to be twice as penetrating than regular ones in other skincare products. In practice, it seems to deliver what it claims. I'm writing a review as an observer, instead of a user. My cousin started using this 1 month ago recommended by her pals, she had oily skin with large pores and black heads, the skin was a bit rough. She decided to use DHC Platinum Silver Nanocolloid set, get herself ready for her wedding. I attended to her wedding 2 days ago and I went for a facial massage with her in a beauty salon. When I saw her, I instantly noticed something different, What a pleasant surprise! Her bare skin did look significantly brighter, much smoother and no pores! Pores are invisible. Her skin looked very suppled and hydrated and the makeup artist didn't make too much effort to get her skin prepared for makeup. I asked what she had done and she told me about DHC. Price-wise, she got her set in Taiwan. A olive soap, PSN Lotion (120 ml), PSN Milky Essence (80 ml), PSN cream (45 g) and PSN 5 paper masks, a set of 5 altogether for around 40 USD. PSN Lotion, Essence and Cream are around $15 USD each being sold individually. It seems that DHC products are expensive in US. So I suggest all PSN fans should probably look for a trustworthy ebayer from Taiwan to stock this up. I don't know if there's any long term health effect for using Platinum as skincare. But do know that Japanese quality control and safety standards on their products are as strict as German's, possibly by far the highest among all countries. I think it shouldn't be too much of a concern. I'm going to buy a set and try it out myself, will give a personal review later. UPDATE: 2011/ 12/ 08 This is quite exciting, especially for those with very dry skin. After using this Platinum Silver Nanocolloid Line (lotion, milky essence, cream and masks) for straightly a month, I eventually understand the differences between "moisturizing" and "hydrating". This line of products are very hydrating, it significantly boosts up the water content of your skin, and it's noticeable even after one application. Keeping the skin very suppled, bouncy and truely baby soft. Also seems to brighten the overall complexion a little. It seems that the difference of the lotion, milky essence and cream is the consistency. Colourless liquid, milky gel and white light cream. This is nearly fragrance-free, with a very faint scent. If you have very dry and dehydrated skin, and would like to try this one, you can start with the lotion (toner) in conjunction with Decleor Iris Oils and Balms. This combo helps to hydrate the skin first and seal the moisture later. Really Great stuff!

Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere
rated 3 of 5
purrsian 11/15/2011 9:16:00 AM

I can't find a Shu Umera counter in the city I'm staying, so I went to pick up this foundation at the Chanel counter, together with a few other stuff two weeks ago. I have faith in Chanel, coz I had an amazing compact powder foundation last summer and love it (Teint Controle Extreme - Extreme UV Protection Control Powder Foundation), it was just divine. It has very nice coverage, but not matte, shows my skin texture well, still gives a luminous glow and radiance to my skin without looking oily, gives nice dimensions to my face and hides puffyness, fine lines and flakiness. It was so easy to apply, no mess. This compact powder foundation raised the bar of my expectation and that's what I look for in a foundation aside from feeling comfortable. Sadly, they ran out of stock at the counter. So, I got this instead. This is my first Chanel liquid foundation, unlike Shu Umera Face Architect (liquid foundation) that I had been using for years, this coverage is relatively light, a bit too light to my liking due to my current skin condition. I never needed to use a concealer, and have not found a concealer that can mask my currently healing acne marks so I tend to depend on a liquid foundation that gives good coverage. This is pretty much thin like a BB cream to me without a greyish cast. My current skin issue won't last forever so this isn't really my concern. It's moisturizing to be used in winter and can last for 4-5 hours without touching up, feels quite comfortable on the skin. The shade I got is 20 Clair - Cameo, it matches my pale asian skin tone and tend to be a bit more yellow, the other 20 Clair has a pink undertone. My only problem is it turns orangey and darker after a few hours of wearing, makes me looking puffy and tired under natural lighting, not sure if I got a bad batch or it has something to do with the shade I pick. I have normal skin, wear a very light serum and a very light sunscreen, wait for 10 mins to sink in before putting this one, and also don't think I put too much foundation on my face. All MUAers and makeup gurus, I'd like to know what has gone wrong, please give me some suggestions! I still have to wear this everyday until I can get a better alternative or a solution. It might not be a bad foundation on itself but it might just not for me at the moment. Will try to give an update later.

Toners -Kose - Medicated Sekkisei
rated 5 of 5
purrsian 11/8/2011 7:46:00 AM

Let me de-mystify... "Medicated" labelled on all Japanese skincare means the ingredients have been proven "effective" for their claims by the Japanese health department. In other words, Job's tears and those Chinese herbs used in Sekkisei are effective for skin whitening, certified by the government. I like how it feels on my skin, without leaving a sticky film like some other toners do. Whitening effect is definitely there, gentle and gradual. It helps to lighten my acne marks. I only use it as a treatment with Kose paper masks a few times weekly instead of a regular daily toner. As a toner, it's light and refreshing to be used in summer, but would be a bit de-hydrating for winter due to the alcohol. Alcohol isn't always a bad thing, too much is. Lots of Chinese herbs need to release, maximize and preserve their healing strengths through soaking in alcohol, my chinese herbalist uncle said. Maybe that's why... This is the only Sekkisei product I use. Had tried the sunscreen and liked the thin and smoothing texture. I stock up Sekkisei toner and SKII Facial Treatment Essence everytime when I visit Japan, not just because of the cheaper price, but also for different formulas between the local products and the export ones. It's well-known that Japanese keep the best stuff to themselves. LOL

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Melvita Extra-rich Hand Cream

Moisturizing and rich, the scent isn't too strong. However, it is a bit runny and thin to my taste, not as protective and restorative as Jurlique's Purely Age-Defying Hand Treatment.

Reminds me a bit of mothballs, very interesting, and I understand why it can turn some people off too. Wearability could be low, I'm trying to understand it.

I love this colour very much but my skill on applying this isn't flawless, with lighter colours, I always have stoke marks left on my nails no matter how many coats I use, so I keep wiping it off and start it over again, it's not so difficult to eliminate the stroke marks when the varnish is fresh. It's a diseaster when the varnish is a bit dry and sticky... I will simply bring my varnish to a nail specialist from now on.

This is love at the first sight! I'm normally not an adventurous person, I tend to play safe, but this colour is so classic, so chic, so sophisticated that I must have it! It's not emo punk kids blue (which I once was), it's 40's, it has so much character, you know, those femme fatale movies... It matches my skin tone very well, it brightens my hands, makes my hands looking very pale. People always want to ask me what colour this is and from which brand... I always tell them it's Chanel. :)

A medium flesh/ nude colour with a very subtle violet in it, with very fine glitters, but not overwhelming. It's such a beautiful colour that does not draw too much attention, and gives a very neat, well polished impression.
