Foundations -Josie Maran Cosmetics - Matchmaker
puppylove 11/1/2011 2:18:00 PM
This light-coverage foundation has a natural finish and impressive lasting power. It spreads easily over the face with the help of a foundation brush and does a good job of evening out slight skin imperfections without looking cakey. Sadly, the shade offerings are insufficient. I am pale, but I'm not Nicole-Kidman pale, and still the lightest shade (fair/light) gave my complexion a slightly yellow/muddy tint. At first I thought it looked okay, but when I saw myself in natural light I realized that the shade was off. If Josie makes a paler shade, I'll buy it!

Save your money ladies! I followed the directions to a T, and this stuff did absolutely NOTHING for my hair. I seriously did not notice a BIT of difference. For reference, I have long, thick, naturally curly/wavy, frizz-prone hair. To be fair, maybe this product works better on other hair types, but it sure didn't work for me.

Fragrances -Donna Karan - Be Delicious Fresh Blossom EDP
puppylove 5/12/2009 2:49:00 PM
This smells pretty good - mostly grapefruity, with a hint of floral. However, it is WICKED STRONG. If you use more than one spritz of this stuff you will risk getting a headache and/or irritating the people next to you. Plus, the scent is a bit on the generic side of things. I bought this to get a gwp - I will probably keep it and use it up, but I won't repurchase. I greatly prefer the original Be Delicious over this.

Other -Unlisted Brand - Pure Inventions - antioxidant water boosters
puppylove 3/29/2008 10:01:00 PM
I recently bought a bunch of these and decided I should review the flavors. Some are from the Pure Inventions brand directly, and some are from the Dr. Brandt brand (Pure Inventions makes the Dr. Brandt stuff). DR. BRANDT POMEGRANATE - This is my favorite of those I've tried. It's got a pleasant, strong, semi-sweet tea taste. I love it! DR. BRANDT LEMON - This is just okay to me. It, too, has a tea taste to it, but it's almost a bit "acrid," if that makes sense. PURE INVENTIONS VANILLA - This one is a total miss for me. I think it almost tastes like rotting fruit. Ugh! PURE INVENTIONS BLUEBERRY - This one is pretty good, although I don't like it as much as the Dr. Brandt Pomegranate. It's definitely got a blueberry taste to it, although it's not sweet. With this one I find that I like to add some sweetener to make it more appealing. PURE INVENTIONS PEACH - This is my second-favorite, of those I've tried. It's got a nice, semi-sweet peach flavor to it. Overall, I really do like these things. They're kind of expensive, but if you sign up for emails at pureinventions.com, you will occasionally get discounts, at least for the Pure Inventions branded stuff. Enjoy!

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Borba Cashmere Fiber Lip Kix
puppylove 3/18/2008 4:27:00 PM
The marketing gimmick for this product makes me laugh. The cream evidently contains cashmere - now why would I want to put goat fur on my lips???? lol. Anyway, the packaging for this stuff is convenient, the price isn't bad, and the moisturizing properties are good. However, I wouldn't buy it again, because I just can't stand the scent/taste. While it goes on with a slight "buttercream" essence, this hint of buttercream quickly morphs into an unappealing chemical scent/taste. Yuck!

Fragrances -Hard Candy - Hard Candy
puppylove 12/6/2007 11:27:00 AM
This is such a fun scent. It smells like fruit punch mixed with actual hard candy in the pan. I can even smell a "powdered sugar" note. (When my sister and I used to make hard candy we'd always sprinkle the top with powdered sugar.) It's a fun, young scent & the packaging (both the bottle and the box it comes in) is ADORABLE. I like this so much better than Liquid (Hard Candy's last fragrance).

Lip Gloss -Besame - Lip Glaze
puppylove 8/24/2007 3:27:00 PM
I'm intrigued by Besame because it seems a bit more interesting than the other lines out there. The packaging for this lipgloss is very pretty - it's a clear tube with "Besame" written on it in a pretty script, and it's got a gold cap embossed with a flower design. The consistency of the lipgloss is really nice - thick, creamy, and not too sticky. And the scent/taste is wonderful! Kind of vanillic or creme-brulee-ish. :) I have the shade "Red Berry," and I have to say that I do think it's misnamed. This isn't a berry shade at all (well - unless you're thinking of orangey-red berries such as cranberries :P). It's an orangey-red in the tube, and on the lips it's basically a clear gloss with just a slight tinge of red. If you're expecting a berry shade, you'll be disappointed with this, but if you want a mostly clear, great smelling/tasting gloss in pretty packaging, you'll be happy. :)

Scrubs -Philosophy - Lemonade Salt Scrub
puppylove 7/27/2007 8:03:00 PM
This is such a disappointment for me. :( The scent is bitter and unappealing, imo. Plus, the scrub seems really goopy. This stuff just doesn't warrant the high price, imo. I like the philosophy Gingerbread Man scrub SO much better!

Other -Dr. Brandt - Anti-Oxidant Water Booster - all flavors
puppylove 7/12/2007 12:51:00 PM
First of all, unless there is a great sale on the Dr. Brandt stuff, get the cheaper Pure Inventions stuff instead, because, as someone mentioned earlier, the Dr. Brandt stuff is MADE by Pure Inventions (it says so right on the bottle). I bought the pomegranate flavor, and I have to say that the taste isn't bad at all! It's got kind of a "strong tea" flavor. It does have a bit of an aftertaste, and it doesn't really taste like pomegranates, but it really isn't bad, imo. (I add a dropper-full to a cup of cold water.) I like the idea of getting the benefits of a bunch of green tea WITHOUT having to drink all the tea. Also, this stuff is caffeine-free, which was important for me because I am very sensitive to caffeine and try to avoid it. Overall I really like this stuff and would repurchase it during a sale (otherwise I'll get the Pure Inventions stuff). EDIT: I've got to RAVE some more about this stuff. The flavor has really grown on me! I've started using half a dropper for a cup of water - using that amount, I figure that I'm not spending *too* much more per serving than I would if I bought a 12-pack of decent soda. :)

Fragrances -Bobbi Brown - Bath
puppylove 11/30/2006 2:31:00 PM
This is fabulous! It works extremely well with my skin chemistry. It smells fresh and clean without seeming too "generic" or too "soapy." It's a perfect everyday scent, and I feel like my mood actually improves when I catch whiffs of it during the day. Plus, the packaging is simple & appealing. I highly recommend this product! EDIT: I just can't emphasize enough how much I love this stuff. I think this might be my favorite edt EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And I have a *lot* of fragrances.)

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Midnight Charm
puppylove 11/30/2006 2:28:00 PM
The packaging for this fragrance is unique and cute. That's the best thing I can say about the product, though. The fragrance itself smells like something you might find labeled "PERFUME" in an old-fashioned dime store. In other words, it's a thin, sharp, generic floral. With such a cute name and such cute packaging, it's too bad that the scent itself isn't very appealing.

Bath Treatments -Bath and Body Works - True Blue Spa Shave the Day Shea-ving Cream
puppylove 8/1/2006 12:30:00 PM
I looooooooooooooooooooooooove this stuff. To me, it smells fresh and clean and invigorating. Plus, it works beautifully as a shaving cream, and the packaging is convenient. While it's a bit $$, it's not too bad if you buy it during a B1G1F sale. I'll be heartbroken if BBW ever discontinues this stuff.

Cleansers -Bath and Body Works - Pure Simplicity Soy Sensitive Skin Calming Self-Foaming Face Wash
puppylove 4/23/2006 9:10:00 PM
This cleanser is totally unscented and does not irritate my eyes. Plus, it does an excellent job of removing makeup, even eye makeup. It has a smooth, airy texture and comes in a convenient pump bottle. I can't think of anything negative to say about this product. It's wonderful!

Candles -Yankee Candles - Cherry Lemonade
puppylove 4/21/2006 8:46:00 PM
I think this is my favorite "spring/summer" candle. It smells juicy and fresh and sweet with a hint of tartness. The throw is definitely noticeable, without being overpowering. I hope Yankee never discontinues this scent!!! You must smell it - it's amazing!!!!!

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Magnolia Blossom edt [DISCONTINUED]
puppylove 4/6/2006 8:51:00 PM
This is a FABULOUS scent for spring and summer. It's mostly fruity to my nose, with some floral notes mixed in. It smells fresh and "tropical" to me. Also, it's more subtle than the Magnolia Blossom lotion, which I find to be a tad too strong. Plus, I find that the lasting power seems better than with other BBW edts. I just love this, and I hope BBW makes it a permanent scent!!!
