Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Iconic Overcurl
pseudokool 4/6/2013 1:07:00 PM
Hi, my name is K*** and I'm a mascara addict. Lol. I am always buying mascara it seems, and when Diorshow Iconic Overcurl came out, I wanted to try it. My short, straight, and thin lashes always need a little oomph, and I prefer volume, curl, and length. No smudging, please. Supposedly this was supposed to have those criteria, so I went out and got this in Black. The brush is a big fluffy spiral curved brush, and the formula is creamy and a soft black. After curling, this stuff does release the curl slightly, and it dries down to a softer matte black finish. I don't find that it adds much volume, but the length is okay. It does dry pretty fast, and I can add more but then on me it does get a bit clumpy. I've tried with primer and it looks okay, but the whiteness of primer makes the black less black. It does smudge after a full day at work (I wear goggles and a mask 8 hrs a day.) Overall its decent, but the price at $28 I wish they would work out more of the kinks.

Mascara -Chanel - Le Volume De Chanel
pseudokool 4/6/2013 12:56:00 PM
Wow, is all I can say right now. I am a serial mascara junkie (I should realllly kick the habit) and wanted to try this one out. I have used this with and without primer. So, my lashes are average, short, very straight lashes. I'm looking for volume, curling, and length (in that order.) I had high expectations for LVDC. When you take the brush out, it is covered in product, so I try to wipe the excess inside the tube before I remove it fully, and that helps a bit. The formula is wet, so it does take a while to dry. This stuff slightly undoes my curl, which is disappointing, but it does not clump on me, and it fans them out pretty nicely adding thickness to each lash and lengthens pretty well. I wait until it dries a bit and add a bit more, lightly zig-zagging my eyelashes. After it completely dries down, its a nice deep black, and makes my small eyes pop. My hubby even mentioned, "wow, your lashes look long honey." For him to comment means it stands out. I do another curl with my lash curler and that's it. Pretty happy with it overall. I find with a primer it clumps pretty bad though, so I just use it on naked lashes. It's nice not having to layer primer, and multiple mascaras. I have a tendency to use a primer, lengthening, and then a different volumizing mascara to get the look that I want. Its a long process! lol. With this, I'm pleased that I only have to use this one. It does smear a bit on me. I am in healthcare, and wearing a mask and goggles 8 hrs a day, I do have a bit of panda eyes. On my off days, I have not seen smudging. It does wash off easily, which I do like that part. The tube is a heavy sleek black tube, and the top clicks into place when you close it. The Snowflake brush has alternating larger and smaller bristles to catch every lash, or so they say. It is nice packaging. The price is expensive, I really don't like that its $30. If it was $28, I wouldn't have a problem with it- funny isn't it? It's like when they price things $19.99 it still makes it better than a flat $20. Anyway, it seems like all that mascaras are going up in price, so I suppose thats how it goes. I like what it does for me, let's see if there will be anything that will top this, for now.

Concealers -Tarte - Maracuja creaseless concealer
pseudokool 1/19/2013 12:49:00 PM
I like this concealer very much. I am using Medium (They were out of Tan) I have been using the Tarte line on my face for awhile now, and can say I really like this brand. It's been covering well, and the price is fairly reasonable. I use the MCC around my nose, acne scars, and under my eyes. I squeeze a tiny dot on my glass slab and use a concealer brush to lightly dab it on. It matches great and covers well on my medium olive toned skin. I am using it in conjunction with the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hr Foundation in Tan. They look great together. The package is a squeeze tube, and I like how I don't waste product. A little goes a long way. The only complaint is that when the temperature is cold outside, its harder to squeeze out. Well, thats winter for you! If you're already a Tarte fan, this is just another great product from the line. I'm very happy with it, and will be buying this one again.

Foundations -Tarte - Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full-Coverage Foundation SPF 15
pseudokool 1/19/2013 12:43:00 PM
I love this foundation. I came across it at Sephora and the mua tried it on my medium olive skin in Tan. Great match. I love how little I use with my foundation airbrush and it looks really good throughout the day. It gives off a slightly semi matte finish, with good coverage. The bottle is more like a squeeze tube, with a wooden cap on the bottom. The side has a clear "window" so you can see the shade color. I like this style of packagaing as I wont waste any of it. I squeeze a dime size amount on a glass slab and pick it up on my airbrush #56 and gently buff it onto my face. I have found Tarte to work very well on my face, so I will definitely buy this again when i run out.

Moisturizers -SKII - Skin Signature Cream
pseudokool 1/19/2013 12:36:00 PM
I finally got my hands on this brand, after wanting to try it for so long. I love skincare, and since I have such problematic skin, I'm willing to try anything! I have sensitive, acne prone, combination skin, with more concerns with acne and aging now. Everything as far as moisturizers go either broke me out, or made me too greasy. I can usually try something new and in a few days figure out if its going to be a regular staple. This cream is in a large red jar with a little spatula. (I'm not too crazy about the dipping) You only need a pea sized amount to rub in your fingers then onto your face in upward motions. It sinks in pretty fast, and I have not broken out with it, and I feel my skin looks better. To me, more clear, and more balanced. I use less foundation, and it feels less oily throughout the day. I like it overall, but I wish it didn't cost so much. Although the jar will last a long time. So far, I really like the brand, and I will probably purchase it when it runs out.

Treatments -SKII - Facial Treatment Essence
pseudokool 1/19/2013 12:27:00 PM
I wanted to try this brand out so badly, and I finally did! The bottle is glass, and its clear, so you can see how much product there is in it. It feels heavy and looks pretty on the counter. I hope I don't drop it! Anyway, I am using the FTE in the morning as my daily routine. I use a few drops on the right side of my face, and the same for the other. I have sensitive acne prone combination skin, with a bit of very fine lines around my eyes. I feel the upper part around my eyes is dry, but the rest of my face gets oily. So far I haven't broken out from this (thank goodness) and I like how it feels on the skin. Just light and cool. I feel like my face is clearer, but I think that could be from other factors as well. (Eating clean, lots of water, exercise) so I can't say that the change is just from this product. I am also using the facial cream, so I will make my final judgement when I finish the products. So far, its been about 1.5 months, and have had no reactions at all, and my skin seems to take it well. I like it so far, but I wish the price wasn't so costly. I gave it a middle rank due to the cost, but I do like how non reactive it is to my skin.

Eyeliner -Kat Von D - Tattoo Liner
pseudokool 1/19/2013 11:58:00 AM
I like this KVD Tattoo liner. Its a felt tip with a top that pushes it down so it seems to keep it moist. I have this in Trooper, a nice inky back. I wear goggles and a mask all day at work, and this stuff does not budge! I put it on at 5 am, and it lasts until well after 5 pm! Very impressed. I think the price is fair for other waterproof liquid liners, so for the staying power its pretty good. I am a MUFE fangirl, but this liner is equal to the Aqua line in terms of staying power. Not many colors but I do love the packaging on this one- no goopy caps, or no drying out yet (1 month now) so I'm pleasantly surprised. Try this one out!

Eye Shadow -Yves Saint Laurent - Ombres Duolumieres #3
pseudokool 1/19/2013 11:50:00 AM
I received this in a swap. The Ombres Duolumieres is an eyeshadow duo in pretty shades of sparkly light peach champagne, and a sparkly midtone plum. Fine milled, and goes on so smoothly. The color is true, and fades just a bit throughout the day. Although I think this formula is nice, the colors don't suit me. I'm not so sure they would do well as a daytime color at all, but for some evening drama I think the plum would do a nice smoky eye. Pretty, but probably outstanding on someone else.

Lips -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals Pretty Amazing Lip in Moxie
pseudokool 1/19/2013 11:44:00 AM
This lip laquer is not "Pretty Amazing" More like, I'm amazed they would produce something like this. Again, I don't know why I keep trying stuff from this brand. Its like the cute guy you keep dating in hopes it will get better and he has more redeeming qualities. Moxie is a very pretty petal pink but on my pigmented lips it looks like a bright barbie pink shellac in a very bad way. Its sticky, and doesn't spread well, and isn't uniform in color. It made my lips have thicker and thinner layers of this color. Not good! I'm totally not sold on this product. I don't like it and I don't even know who it would work for! Usually I think it's just not for me, but this color is not for anybody. Girls, stay away!

Lip Gloss -Bare Escentuals - Pretty Amazing Lipcolor - Confidence
pseudokool 1/19/2013 11:34:00 AM
Seriously, I need to stop trying stuff from this brand. It doesn't work for me. I got the color Confidence in hopes of finding a pretty mauve lip. The texture is paint like and goopy. Sticky and just feels weird. The color in the tube looks like a pretty deep mauve, no sparkle. But when you put it on, ugh. Lets dip my lips in paint! And then be so sticky where my long hair just gets attracted to my lips. Yikes! Thanks but no thanks! The tube itself is black with the bottom clear so you can see the color, and the doe foot is more like a wide fluffy spatula, so you can get more coverage. The design is fine, but not the formula. Not for me.

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - BareMinerals READY Eyeshadow 2.0 The Epiphany
pseudokool 1/19/2013 11:28:00 AM
"The Epiphany" is, I will never buy this shadow again. This compact duo has two brown shades, A-Ha, and Foreshadow. One is a lovely sparkly taupe, and the other is a pretty deep matte chocolate brown. It looks great in the pan. Now on the eyes, thats another matter. Muddy, fallout, fading. It didn't translate well on my face, even with primer. By the end of the day, it just accentuated my dark black crow circles. Not pretty. I really want to like this brand, but everything I've tried in the store or purchased just doesn't work for me.

Bronzers -TheBalm - Betty-Lou Manizer
pseudokool 1/19/2013 11:20:00 AM
I've never tried this brand until I got this bronzer. Its a average sized mirrored compact with a shimmery medium gold bronze pan. The color looks very pretty in the compact, but on my medium olive skin, it looks orange. I think this would look better on a darker skinned gal, but its way too obvious and too sparkly for my taste.

Concealers -Lancome - Effacernes
pseudokool 1/19/2013 11:17:00 AM
I don't know why I purchased this. I think it was the "Its-great-for-undereye-circles" thing. This stuff definitely didn't work for me. I have the Medium Beige, and although the color is OK, the lasting power lasts for about 1 hour, and coverage is nil on me. I have the ugly bruise type circles underneath my eyes, (thanks heredity) and so although I sleep 7+ hours, eat clean, exercise, and all that, my eyes look like I have been punched. I seriously need a heavy duty concealer. This one is a runny liquid, and it does nothing to cover my eyes. I do find that it is a little drying, and it makes the skin look crepe-y. Ick. The tube is fine, I don't think there is waste, but this is something that just does not work for me. I think if you have the brown undereye circles, then it would be fine. But for other gals that look like they have purple circles, stay away.

Mascara -Pop Beauty - Peak Performance Mascara in Brilliant Black
pseudokool 1/19/2013 11:10:00 AM
I am always on the hunt for a good mascara that works for my short asian lashes. I also look for packaging that doesn't make the mascara dry or get clumpy. I actually don't like brushes too much. Seriously, I ADORE this mascara! The tube is a twist up pen with a comb on the end. You twist up the pen and the mascara comes out and you comb it in. Genius! It coats and separates. The best part is with that cap and comb system, I don't waste much and it stays moist and not dry! I love this stuff! The color is a nice dark black, and the staying power for me after a day at work (mask and goggles on) it lasts all day. It does uncurl just slightly for me, but with all that gear on my face at work, I'm happy with it. I haven't experienced smudges or anything, and it washes off easily. It is a TECHNIQUE SENSITIVE mascara, for sure. But I don't mind it. I've found after I've used it for awhile, I can put it on faster with no eyelid smudges than traditional mascara. This is what I do to not waste the product: After I curl my lashes, I click only one or two times, to get just a tiny bit to come out on the comb. (If you twist too much there is definitely waste of product.) I tilt my chin up in the mirror and push the comb up and out to coat each lash. For the lower lashes, I hold the pen with the comb side down as I tilt my chin down, and comb down and out. For the other eye, I bend the base of the comb tip (its made of rubber or something) and more product will come out of the top. So I don't twist the pen as much as the directions say. This method has been working great for me. I really like the mascara pen. Its a neat way to apply and keeps the product fresh, separates your lashes well, and gives a nice everyday natural look. Now if you're looking for drama, then this probably isn't for you. I do like this mascara a lot and hope they don't discontinue it. I've only seen it on their website and Ulta so I better stock up before its gone. For $20, I can buy a couple of tubes and be happy!

Lipstick -Clinique - Chubby Stick (all shades)
pseudokool 1/19/2013 10:58:00 AM
I have this one in Whole Lotta Honey. It is a neutral pinky brown shade that goes on very sheer. The moisturization power is so-so, and it doesn't last very long. I do like the "pencil" as you twist up from the bottom and there is no sharpening. I have very pigmented lips so this color does show a little hint of color but I don't find myself reaching for this at all. I think these balms would probably be better for someone who has relatively hydrated lips and not much pigment to them.
