Eyeliner -Stila - Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner
rated 4 of 5
prim4tologist 2/14/2011 2:54:00 PM

This eyeliner has really grown on me. I thought I didn't like it at first because I'm really bad at keeping a steady hand, but with some practice, I found that its not that hard to apply. It just takes me a bit longer to apply than my gel liner. This liner really stays put all day. I haven't worn it in the pool so I can't really say how waterproof it is, but I can say that I have oily lids and this really stays on and does not smudge. I would definitely consider buying this again.

Lip Treatments -Victoria's Secret - Beauty Rush Soothing Lip Balm - Pretty Buff
rated 5 of 5
prim4tologist 11/12/2010 5:41:00 AM

I love this lip balm! It is very soothing, but not overly minty. It looks like a nude/beige/peachy color with gold shimmer in the tin, but on the lips, it just looks clear with gold shimmer. I use it every night before I go to sleep, and I wake up with super soft lips. My boyfriend has even commented on how soft my lips have been since I started using this. I will definitely consider buying more when I run out.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Vegan palette
rated 5 of 5
prim4tologist 11/10/2010 10:15:00 PM

I just got this the other day after thinking about it for a long time. I have the Naked palette, and I had originally decided that I didn't need this since 3 of the colors overlap, but I finally caved and got it anyway. First of all, the packaging is really cute, and I love the fact that it is super portable. The colors are gorgeous, and very cohesive. Minx, Urb, and Gunmetal are a bit on the glittery side, but Minx is the only one that has visible chunks of glitter in it. There is some fallout, so just be careful when applying. Twice Baked, Smog, and Half Baked are more on the satiny/velvety/shimmery side. None of the colors in here are matte, so keep that in mind. At first I thought that I wouldn't like the primer in "Sin" because it is shimmery, but I was actually quite pleased with it. I think that a matte primer would have been better for this palette, but it was nice that they included something different for a change. The eyeliner, as usual, is awesome as well. Overall, I love this palette, and I would highly recommend it, especially to those who couldn't get their hands on the Naked palette. But remember, the Naked palette is not limited edition, so if you really wanted that one, I'm sure you can still get it if you wait. Don't buy it on ebay! People are selling them for ridiculous prices, so don't get scammed!

Misc Beauty Tools -Shu Uemura - Eyelash Curler
rated 5 of 5
prim4tologist 11/10/2010 8:36:00 PM

This is the best eyelash curler ever! I have been using this for so long now, and I am really sad that Shu Uemura has stopped selling their products in the U.S. You can still order it from the Shu Uemura website, but I am just sad that I can no longer pick this up at my local Sephora. Overall, my only complaint is that they don't sell individual replacement rubber pads. It seems like kind of a waste to throw the whole thing out, so I try to use it for as long as I can. It comes with one extra rubber pad, so it still should last you quite some time.

Concealers -Sonia Kashuk - Hidden Agenda Concealer Kit
rated 4 of 5
prim4tologist 11/9/2010 10:21:00 PM

I really like this. The apricot-ish color is great for hiding my dark circles, and the olive-toned color is great for covering up blemishes. I have medium/tanned, asian skin, and I find that I don't really use the lightest color. I don't use the powder either, but I guess it's good for setting the concealer. For some reason, every time I use the translucent powder under my eyes and in the outer corners to prevent my eyeshadow from smearing, it seems that my skin around the outer corners (like where it wrinkles when you smile) gets irritated. I am not completely sure if it's because of the powder, but I just kind of stay away from it. Other than that, I love the concealers, and I use it every day. I just think 10 bucks is not exactly cheap for this, but it is a decent product.

Eyeliner -Smashbox - Jet Set Waterproof Eye Liner in Black
rated 4 of 5
prim4tologist 11/9/2010 8:53:00 PM

I love this stuff. I've been using this on my upper lash line for quite a while now. I find that gel eyeliner is way easier for me to use than liquid liner, and it goes on much smoother than pencils. I recently let my mom try this too, and she loved it. She usually uses pencils, but always complains about them smudging all over the place, but she didn't have a problem with this. The staying power is great, and I love how black it is. Even though it is marketed as "waterproof," I don't know if I would actually wear it when I'm swimming. I usually just don't wear makeup when I swim because I get so paranoid about my makeup running anyways. For daily wear, I think this works very well. I would buy this again, but I have also been wanting to try the Bobbi Brown gel eyeliners, so I might try that one first to see which one I like better.

Cleansers -Ponds - Clean Sweep Cleansing and Makeup Remover Towelettes
rated 5 of 5
prim4tologist 11/9/2010 8:41:00 PM

This is my go-to makeup remover wipe. One sheet takes off all of my makeup, including my eye makeup. I love these because they are gentle on my skin, do not make my eyes sting, and are decently priced. I usually get these on sale at Target, or I find coupons for them and can get them for around 4 to 5 bucks per pack (each pack has 30 towelettes). I have tried several other brands, but I always keep coming back to these.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Color Juice Bubble Gum
rated 1 of 5
prim4tologist 11/9/2010 8:29:00 PM

Yuck!! I did NOT like this at all. I got this in Bubblegum, and it was soooooo sticky on my lips. My lips literally felt like I had glue on them. I always wear lip balm under my glosses because I find that it makes the gloss feel less sticky. With L'Oreal Color Juice, however, wearing lip balm definitely did not help, and my lips just felt gross. There was not much color payoff on my pigmented lips, either. I ended up tossing this after a week or so. For a drugstore brand, they are not super cheap. I think they are about 8 or 9 bucks, which I honestly think is a total rip off. I would much rather prefer my Victoria's Secret Beauty Rush lip gloss for $7.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)
rated 4 of 5
prim4tologist 11/9/2010 8:21:00 PM

I love this primer. It helps my eyeshadow stay all day and prevents creasing. However, I am not in love with the packaging. Although it's super cute, I really think that they should make the regular size and small ones in a squeeze tube. I realize that they have a new professional size that comes in a squeeze tube, but I think that they should just redesign all of them. The pro size was too big for my liking, and I was afraid that it would dry out before I got a chance to finish using it, so I did not get it. I have seen videos on how to depot these, but honestly, I do not feel like going through all the trouble as well as the safety hazards in trying to cut this thing open. All in all, I love the product, but I will stick to my Too Faced Shadow Insurance because they make those in user friendly tubes (both regular and travel size).

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Small Angled Brush
rated 5 of 5
prim4tologist 11/9/2010 8:10:00 PM

I love this brush. It works perfectly with my gel eyeliner. It allows me to apply the gel very precisely. I can also use it with powder eyeshadows to set my liner. Overall, I think that this is a great brush for the price.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero
rated 4 of 5
prim4tologist 11/9/2010 7:48:00 PM

I actually really like this eyeliner. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I do not feel the need to sharpen it every time I use it. However, when I do sharpen it, I find that I have to be careful because the formula is very soft and creamy. Sometimes, if I am not careful and over sharpen it, the tip can break off. I love how this glides on very smoothly on my waterline. I don't really have a problem with it smudging, but then again, I do not use this for my upper lids. I usually use a gel liner for the top lids, and then use this only for my waterline. Once this sets, I find that it stays put for a pretty long time. 24 hours is definitely a stretch, but it usually lasts me throughout the day. I have a couple of these because they came with the Naked and Vegan palettes that I got. I think $17 is definitely a little pricey, but I would probably consider buying another one if I run out, just because I feel that the quality is worth it.

Lip Gloss -E.L.F. - Studio Minty Lip Gloss
rated 2 of 5
prim4tologist 11/9/2010 7:11:00 PM

This lip gloss is just okay to me. I have this in "miami," and on my pigmented lips, I don't see much color payoff. It's pretty much just a sheer gloss with a slight shimmer to it. The minty feeling is very nice on my lips, but it goes away in a few minutes. The gloss itself is not sticky to me, and the packaging is nice and does not look cheap. My only complaints are that there is not much product in the tube, and that the taste is a bit unpleasant to me. It has kind of a weird, chemically minty/sweet taste, which I am not a huge fan of.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
rated 5 of 5
prim4tologist 8/1/2010 10:04:00 PM

I am absolutely in love with this palette! I am a huge fan of neutrals, so I had to have this. It is actually a pretty reasonable price considering the fact that you get 12 shadows, 2 eyeliner colors, and a sample-sized primer potion. There are 2 matte colors, a few shimmers, some satins, and a couple of sparkly colors, but none have huge chunks of glitter in them. I called a bunch of sephoras in my area and finally found one that had a few in stock. If you are still trying to get your hands on this, don't fret. It is NOT limited edition (according to sephora and urban decay's facebook pages). Don't resort to e-bay! People are charging ridiculous amounts on e-bay, and claiming that it is limited edition. Don't let them scam you!

Polishes -Essie - Carousel Coral
rated 4 of 5
prim4tologist 7/16/2010 8:04:00 PM

I love this! In natural light, it looks like a bright pink/coral. Indoors, it has more of an orange tint to it. In the bottle, it looks super pink, but when you put it on, it is a very nice coral color. I am picky about coral nail polishes because I don't like when they are too red or too orange, but this one is the perfect shade of coral. It is more on the pink side, but that's how I like my corals. The formula was a bit thin, so it took about 2-3 coats to get it to be completely opaque. So far, it's been about a week, and I don't see any chipping. This is my favorite summer color so far. If you are a fan of pinkish corals, I would definitely recommend this.

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
rated 5 of 5
prim4tologist 7/14/2010 4:29:00 PM

I love this! I use it every single day underneath my eyeshadow. It is a bit pricey, but it lasts forever, so I think it is absolutely worth it. It's super easy to blend, it's not greasy, makes my eyeshadow stay put longer, and the squeeze-out tube means that you can get all of the product out, unlike the Urban Decay Primer Potion w/ the applicator. This is my favorite eyeshadow primer of all time.
