Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorskin Airflash
rated 4 of 5

I just bought this, but for the life of me can't understand why one would use a makeup brush to apply it. I sprayed in the Z motion once (closed my eyes) looked into the mirror and could not believe my eyes. I blended what need to be blended with my fingers. My face was flawless. Unbelievable. I'm still in shock that I had a face with full coverage in a matter of seconds. My diamond studs were covered with makeup, so next time I'll be careful. It's 4 hours later and my face still looks flawless. Time will tell if I still feel this way after using it more often. I really don't see the purpose of using a brush, that would completely defeat the purpose of the foundation!

Hair Color -L'Oreal - Couleur Experte -hair dye / highlight
rated 5 of 5
prettyshine 7/27/2012 12:14:00 AM

I've used this box for about 7 years now and it's still a favorite. I typically go for the iced meringue (ash,light/white blonde, no yellow) but sometimes I will use the creme brulee(more of a brighter/yellow blonde). I always receive compliments on my hair color. Every single time I go to a salon I am complimented on my amazing color. It's very natural. Most people don't even know I color my hair. I do the base color one day and then I wait until the next day before I do the highlights. The color looks beautiful for a couple of weeks but I typically have to do it again every 6 weeks. When doing the highlights, I suggest just putting on the gloves and using your fingers. Use small/skinny strands of hair to highlight, never large chunks. Pick random strands and go underneath and in the back as well, this will create a more natural look. A lot of salons are now using this technique to color hair. I've pretty much perfected blonde after 10 years of doing it myself. From my early days of being a bleach platinum blonde to my now natural blonde, I'm really happy with the product. I can't speak for the brown shades b/c that's a whole different ballgame. But learning to color your hair, and finding the right shade for yourself, is an art. Lately I've had trouble finding it in my area, and as someone said before, the blonde colors are typically the most difficult to find in stores. Ulta usually has the blonde shades though. I moved and may have to start ordering online b/c none of the drugstores around me carry it. Bummer.

Liquid -Chanel - Vitalumiere Aqua
rated 3 of 5
prettyshine 4/6/2012 2:05:00 PM

I had to change my entire review after a couple of weeks using this foundation. It still remains the lightest feeling foundation I've ever used, I love the feeling and ease of putting it on. However, I have to apply quite a bit to get the coverage I need and even then it still doesn't feel like it covers enough. The staying power is so so. My skin isn't horrible, I do have some discoloration on my cheeks from acne years ago but I don't have major breakouts or anything. I'd say my skin is combination normal to oily. I used one of my Dior foundations one day and I was so much more pleased with the coverage and how my skin looked, I missed that. I think this would be a great foundation if you had flawless skin.

Loose Powders -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Loose Powder
rated 1 of 5
prettyshine 4/6/2012 2:00:00 PM

I feel kinda dumb for buying this product. The entire reason I bought it is because I assumed it was the powder you should use for photographs b/c it says HD and it's translucent. There's no SPF in it, so I assumed it would just be translucent and there'd be no issues with a white tint. In reality, it leaves a significant white tint to your face and looks powdery. It made my already pale face look even paler after I applied it over my foundation.

Highlighters -Bobbi Brown - Rose Gold Shimmer Brick Compact
rated 2 of 5
prettyshine 4/5/2012 7:11:00 PM

My first shimmer brick by BB and I'm not impressed. I'm not very dark, more on the pale side and this didn't show up on me hardly at all. I put it on over my cheekbones and I honestly don't even notice anything is there. So not worth it IMO. I think there are much better products out there. Pretty in the packaging, but seriously...I can't see it on my face even with multiple applications.

Skincare - Body -Unlisted Brand - Egyptian Magic Healing Cream
rated 2 of 5
prettyshine 3/31/2012 10:27:00 PM

I've purchased 2 tubs in the past month. I used up the first tub, my main goal was to moisturize my entire body. For the price ($38), it's not worth it IMO. I just bought a tub of coconut oil for $10 and I see the same results, but it's easier to apply with better results so far. I went through the product pretty fast because I was using it on my entire body. I didn't get the results I was hoping for. Would not recommend for whole body moisturizing. It was recommended for prevention of stretch marks, but I just don't see it working.

Treatments -SkinMedica - Vitalize Peel
rated 4 of 5
prettyshine 8/16/2011 1:46:00 AM

Thursday 12:15 Received the peel. Process took about 20 minutes, I held a small fan in front of my face. It stung slightly, nothing bad. I left with an orange/yellow/tan tint to my face. I wouldn't go to work this way but felt comfortable enough going to a mall shopping. Friday AM - washed my face the first time. My skin on Friday was pink-red, but I applied my makeup and I looked normal. Went I came home from work around 9PM I noticed slight dryness to my chin. Saturday - peeling on my chin and a little under my nose. Sunday - peeling all over. I put on sunscreen and went to run a few errands. I felt like my face became red despite the sunscreen. I have a bump on my forehead in between my eyebrows. It's deep, almost like a cystic acne outbreak? I'm not sure what it is. I tried to extract it but the skin just peeled off, it's too deep to extract. But it feels like a zit?! Weird, I don't experience these. Monday - The bump in between my eyebrows is still there, my skin is peeling but not too bad. I think yesterday the peeling reached it's peek. My skin remains slightly pink. I guess I'll give it some more time. Tuesday - to be continued...

Skincare - Face -Jan Marini - Antioxidant daily face protectant SPF 30
rated 5 of 5
prettyshine 7/27/2011 8:36:00 PM

This smells amazing, like a pina colada...so good. It didn't leave a white mask on my face, but felt a little too greasy for my sensitive skin but maybe that's just me. I prefer the skinceuticals tint spf 50 on my face, for the same price. It just works better for me. I ended up using the rest of the Jan Marini on my neck & chest until the bottle ran out....but it's too expensive to repurchase just for that area. We'll see...maybe I'll try it again in the winter. Update: I repurchased and am in love with the product. I recently purchased the skinceuticals again too and I actually prefer the Jan Marini now. It doesn't break me out, it's clear - no white tint, and it feels light, smells good.

Cleansers -Jan Marini - Bioglycolic Facial Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
prettyshine 7/27/2011 8:34:00 PM

I've never found a glycolic product that isn't too harsh for me, this one works well. It's a nice cleanser. Maybe I'm not doing it right, because I use it like a normal cleanser, but you're suppose to put it on dry skin then rinse with washcloth. It is expensive, but comes in a large pump bottle that has lasted me longer than any other cleanser I've ever had....ever:) I'm going to repurchase & try to use it on dry skin, see what happens. Jan Marini is a nice line.

Shampoo -Paul Mitchell - Instant Moisture Daily Shampoo
rated 2 of 5
prettyshine 7/27/2011 8:26:00 PM

Meh. It just doesn't do it for me. My store was out of the pureology & morracan shampoos so I picked this one up + the conditioner instead. It's not as bad as the reviews, the shampoo is nice, but not moisturizing at all IMO and the conditioner is too flimsy, I.e. it doesn't moisturize my hair at all. I have to use quite a bit just to be semi effective. I won't throw it out or anything, but will only use if I'm out of my better shampoos.

Shampoo -Pureology - Pureology Hydrate Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
prettyshine 7/27/2011 8:23:00 PM

Pureology is still holding out as my favorite shampoo + conditioner brand. I've tried them all, and this purple bottle (the moisturizing) is my favorite. I just purchased the "smoothing" formula so we shall see how it compares. I need a moisturizing/heavy conditioner & this one delivers. I apply to my ends and work up. I have very long hair that is thin but thick in that I have tons of it! This works for me. Plus it's color safe. Trust.

Treatments -Skinceuticals - Phloretin CF
rated 4 of 5
prettyshine 7/27/2011 12:23:00 AM

I am acne prone, I use to have reddened skin (primarily on the cheeks) and this doesn't aggravate my acne. I used 2 bottles and have recently stopped using for 2 months. Today I repurchased. I never thought it made much of a difference, I never noticed a glow or anything. But I looked at some close up pictures from a few years ago and the small sunspots I had on my face are practically gone! I still have a little bit of acne scarring, but I no longer have the little brown spots/freckles. I'm 29 years old, so not tons of skin damage, but I'm repurchasing b/c I believe in the Vitamin C and prevention. This time I will follow others advice & keep in the fridge!

Treatments -Skinceuticals - Hydrating B5 Gel
rated 3 of 5
prettyshine 7/27/2011 12:15:00 AM

Not sure about this one. One thing I can say is it did not make my face break out, which most things that are suppose to aid in moisturizing my face, do. It feels light on the skin but I haven't noticed a change in the appearance of my skin after several months using it daily. I may repurchase to give it another shot because I trust in the line.

Treatments (Eye) -Unlisted Brand - Latisse Lash Growth Drops
rated 5 of 5
prettyshine 7/26/2011 1:38:00 AM

Use an eyeliner brush, one drop for both eyes. Trash the brushes that come in the box, not needed. I have short eyelashes naturally, and it took me about 4 months to see a difference, so hang in there. It also took me a little practice to get use to using it every night. I keep it in my medicine cabinet & finally just got in the habit of doing it every night after I brush my teeth. Now that my eyelashes are longer & about where I want them, I can get away with using it every other night. I did experience a dark line on my eyelids for a couple weeks after I started using this, but I no longer do! It's fabulous.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
rated 5 of 5
prettyshine 7/26/2011 1:27:00 AM

To the Green eye gals.. Lately I have been using darkhorse as an eyeliner, with the naked & the other darker brown matte in my crease. I get compliments on my eyes all the time. I have green eyes, so something about using the darkhorse as a liner (I use a small angled eyeliner brush) really makes my eyecolor pop. I've had this palette for almost 6 months and I still know there are dozens of other combinations I can try! It really is a beauty. Don't waste your money on other palettes.
