Great at keeping my blow-outs under control! I use this religiously in the winter when wearing my natural hair in a blow-out style. It is also really great when paired with Oyin Honeyhemp Conditioner for a twist out or braid out. Smells like chocolate candy!!

Great daily refresher!!! This stuff keeps my kinky/curly Afro looking wonderful in the summer heat. It is not drying or greasy...perfect for daily use. The scent is also very yummy but light!

HOLY GRAIL FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been using this conditioner for about 9 months now and it is incredible. I have kinky/curly African American hair. This conditioner leaves it amazingly soft with an incredible scent. It really is the nectar of the gods! :) Only complaint is that with the largest size (32 oz) it is very hard to use in the shower. A pump would be awesome.

Lipstick -Clinique - Almost Lipstick - Black Honey

So, as with the Superbalm in this color, I initiallly didn't think it was that big of a deal. But, after receiving compliments from men (especially ones who are not very into makeup) I have used it nearly everyday for two weeks and love it! I like it better than the superbalm, but really like wearing both together. My lips look so sweet, like I just finished a popsicle. :)

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Superbalm Moisturizing Gloss in Black Honey
prettyphd 6/14/2011 1:21:00 PM
I was not even thinking about this gloss until I ran out of another brand. I wear it alone or layer it with Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey as well. A guy I went on a few dates with commented, "how do your lips stay like that?" I was liking the gloss but it wasn't that big of a deal until his remark. LOL. It lasts very long and gives you just a hint of lovely color. This may be overpowering for those of lighter hues as I'm NC50/NW50 in summer. LOVE THIS STUFF!

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - Keracare detangling moisturizing shampoo

first, i want to note that I am african american with naturally kinky-curly hair. the lather for this shampoo is nice, but it doesn't strip the hair which is great. the smell is a bit chemical at first but has a floral topnote. i used it in conjunction with the humecto conditioner. good stuff! i am experiencing less breakage and my hair very is moist.

Crème -MAC - Studio Tech
prettyphd 2/18/2010 8:22:00 AM
This is a lovely product for me! I am a brown-skinned African American woman and NC50 works well for me. As I read the reviews, I wonder how those who call it "cakey" are applying it. Be sure to do the following: 1) prime the face (especially if you are an oily person and add a mattifier if needed), 2) use a brush for light coverage, like a MAC 109 or a baby kabuki brush, 3) if you need help with the smoothness of the product, use a damp brush. and 4) SET WITH POWDER! if you don't like this "extra" step then don't use Studio Tech...it is intended to be set with a powder. Certainly begin with a light hand as this product is buildable, but is definitely medium/full coverage. Bottom line: I love it! UPDATE: After a few months of using the product, I noticed that my pores were often clogged and my skin was getting worse, requiring more makeup. There was a cycle! I don't use this regularly anymore; however, if i needed full coverage in a pinch, I'd pull it out. So: great coverage but at a cost.

Stick -Iman - Second To None Stick Foundation
prettyphd 1/24/2010 11:05:00 PM
Iman makes shades that other companies ignore or make in very limited forms. Love the ease of this foundation and how well it covers!! Also, I have read other reviews stating they took away lippies for the lack of colors for lighter skin!?!?!?!? Before you make that statement, note that in the history of cosmetics advertisement AND provision of shades that women of color were not acknowledged AT ALL. Iman is simply providing for those who are not currently typically thought of (see ALMAY, Neutrogena--except online, and Maybelline). Please refrain from saying it's "unfair" that Iman does not have lighter shades. It is geared toward a forgotten, marginalized population. Good stuff!!!!!! UPDATE: I loved how this product felt on my skin, but when the season changed I could not find the right color. I gave away my last tube to a friend and have not repurchased this year.
