Stick -Iman - Second To None Stick Foundation
prettychix 8/9/2007 11:19:00 AM
First off let me say how much I absolutely love this product. I am an Earth1/Clay5. This looks like skin on me. Seriously, it just looks like really great skin. It blends well (make sure that you give your moisturizer time to sink in before putting this on) and it holds us to Gulf Coast summer weather. The caveats: 1.Not a photo-friendly makeup. Do not wear it if you know that flash bulbs will be going off b/c ppl will mistake you for Casper. I bought this while searching for a wedding day foundation. This isn't the one. 2. doesn't completely hide hyperpigmentation. Most foundations don't but if you read Iman's book she would leave you to believe that a stick foundation is all you need. I would suggest paring this with Maven Cosmetics concealer. Overall this is perfect for everyday makeup and even for a night out on the town; but please tell your myspace loving friend to leave the camera at home.

This is the best concealor that I have ever tried. It had five colors green, lavender and three color shades for blending. The woman at the store said it was developed for ethnic tones. I'm black and as most people know, we have a big spectrum. It is usually hard for me to find foudation/concealor b/c most brands only have a few darker shades. They don't match exactly and normally just seem off. This is customizable. It is trick to get your shade at first. But once you find it, it is truly your shade. excellent stuff. I highly rec it.

I love this color on my nails. I am somewhere between DDD and CCC. It is a gorgeous subtle pink that isn't too pale but doesn't scream bubble-yum. It has a nice glossy finish. Perfect summer color!

I wanted to wait a few months befor I wrote this review. I'm also going to update it at the end of summer too. I started this at the beginning of December and it has really cleared my skin. EXCEPT for the one week of the month that my hormones go out of control; which I really didn't expect a topical treatment to control. My scars are starting to fade and I'm having fewer and fewer breakouts as time goes on. The spot treatment burns when you first apply it but it usually goes away after 15 minutes to a half hour. My skin isn't as oily as it used to be. However, it is still winter and the true test will be this summer. So I will update this review after August. I highly recommend this to ppl who are sensitive to BP ( every other acne system that I've looked up has at least on BP component, if anyone finds otherwise please page me). Well, it is starting to heat up around here and the Murad is still going strong, btw, I'm still on my first 60-day set so this stuff goes a long way.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorstay Overtime Lipcolor
prettychix 1/13/2005 7:12:00 PM
Ok, first of all, I had to SERIOUSLY condition my lips before using this stuff. I recommend an actual lip conditioner like clinique's All About Lips. Chapstick will make it harder to apply. Now, Yes this stuff can get crumbly, especially if your lips are fairly dry to begin with. But if I reapply the gloss fairly often (a little too often IMO) it stays really nice. I can say this, this stuff stays. So if you really need your lipcolor to last all night, this stuff is it.

This is my HG beauty product. I am luckily at the stage where I use makeup mainly to enhance not correct so I don't need a true foundation. I do however have a tendency to get a little pale (which is odd considering that my skin is very brown but whatever. this stuff is incredib;e on my skin. Most days the only thing I do is use this moisturizer (Bronze btw) with my full n soft mascara (my other beauty HG) and I am set. It really just makes my skin look so even and perfect.

I love this stuff. My hair was soo tangled this morning. I jumped in the shower and put this stuff in. I didn't even need my wide-tooth comb! My tangles just fell out. I had to seperate a few pieces with my fingers but that's all. This stuff will save me from so many split ends. Btw: A little goes a long way, so it's worth the price!

I really wanted to love this product after reading the ther reviews but I couldn't. It was too drying and stiff for my hair. It provided no shine at all either. My hair just looked dull and didn't move. I don't understand the raves for this stuff at all. Edit: I used this to straighten my daughter's hair. I worked really well, Her hair is less coarse (and less dry) than mine but curlier. It held pretty well (or as well as anything could with a 4 year old). And her hair wasn't too stiff. I guess it just depends on your hair type.

It was pretty decent. i wouldn't use this on an exceptionnaly humid or windy day. It doesn't provide much control (but I guess you could always combine it with your mousse or gel whichever you use). Anyway my curls were shiny, they bounced back easy. I have an issue where by day two my hair is a matted mess and my curls won't sping back. With this my curls came back quite well and I didn't have to use the entire bottle to do it. So to sum it up: Decent when used on wet hair but doesn't provide much comtrol. But it's really good for reviving old curls. btw. i'm type 3C curly for anyone wondering.

I absolutely hated this stuff. I was given this because they were sold out of Mtrix and I needed something for that night. When I sprayed this on my hair and then touced it my hand stuck to it. It was like AquaNet hairspray!!! Afterwards my hair was so hard. It did not move. Yes my hair ws straight but it wouldn't flow at all. It made my hair feel really coarse too. This is definetly going back to the salon for a refund!

Hair Styling Tools -Farouk CHI - Chi Ceramic Flat Iron by Farouk
prettychix 9/2/2004 4:51:00 PM
Ok first let me say that I have type 3C curly hair according to Andre what's his name. Now you know ehat my natural hair looks like. If you look in my profile at my pic in the black dress you will see what a CHI does to my hair. I do not have a relaxer or any other chem in my hair. This was all done with the chi. I cannot reccommend this strongly enough. esp for Afr Amer girls. If your hair is fine or naturally straighter you could probably go for a cheaper ceramic iron like the ones that you find at sally's. But if your hair is really curly or coarse you NEEd to get a chi. It's worth every cent!!!

Skincare - Body -Sally Hansen - Spa Gel Hair Remover for Body
prettychix 8/26/2004 12:04:00 AM
I absolutely loved this stuff. First of all, when I saw the price I was a little worried b/c it was more expensive than regular hair remover (not much, but I don't like to waste duckets). I thought that there wasn't enough in the tube. Well I was wrong: I was able to apply from ankle to bikini without making a major dent in the tube (I'm 5'5" btw). It went on nice and cool (like a aloe vera gel) The fact that it was a gel actually made it easier for me to put it on evenly too. Bonus: no horrible smell. My hair is a little tough so I have to leave hair remover creams on for a while, which irritates my skin. Well this didn't irritate me at all. It worked great, my legs were silky smooth, and i didn;t have any negative skin rxns.

Conditioner -Queen Helene - Cholesterol Hair Conditioning Cream

I love this, My hair is very curly (Type 3C), dry, and gets tangled very easily. This helps to smooth my hair and makes it easy to detangle. It is a little heavy so if your hair is fine I'd suggest that you use something else. I also prefer to use this with heat. I saturate my hair, cover it with a plastic cap, and sit under my hoded dryer. I use this once per week.

Styling Products -Biosilk - Biosilk Shine on Spray
prettychix 7/7/2004 10:58:00 PM
This is my favorite thing to use with my CHI Iron. It helps to smooth my hair and adds shine without build-up. I have one caveat: the price. It's $12 but It doesen't last long, esp if you have a lot of hair. Btw, My hair is very curly (3C).
