Toners -Alba Botanica - Hawaiian Hibiscus Facial Toner
prettybow 1/19/2010 11:56:00 AM
I just bought this yesterday so I will have to come back to update, but I like this toner so much that I had to write a review. I'm an esthetician so I know a thing or two about good ingredients and this toner is lovely. It has moisturizing ingredients, as well ad witch hazel which provides the most gentle astrengient properties, and it contains bergamot oil- an essential oil which smells like citrus or orange and reminds me of more pricey products in the spa. I think this is a wonderful quality toner for the price. I have acne prone skin which is really sensitive right now and sort of getting dry areas due to pregnancy but I felt this toner addressed all of my concerns- cleaned lasting residues off my skin from makeup or cleanser, treated the bit of blemishes I have due to witch hazel which is great cause I can't used anything stronger right now cause it's too harsh, and it conditioned my skin and made it feel really soft with thr addition of the lovely pampered feel I get from the essential oil. I love it and i'm glad I stumbled upon it at target. As long as I don't get break outs I will continue to use, but I scanned the ingredient list before buying and I didn't see any breakout causing ingredients :)

Styling Products -Frederic Fekkai - Glossing Cream with Olive Oil
prettybow 3/17/2008 11:58:00 AM
I had been wanting to try this forever. I finally picked up a trial size at Sephora and I was so excited. To be completely honest, I tried it twice- once with just a dab, once with a little more to see if it was my application that made me not like it but nope. It just made my hair a little greasy, made it more easily tangled while I was blowdrying...and it just really didn't do a thing for my hair that I could notice. It smelt nice..sort of a natural Aveda type of smell to it, probably cause of the olive oil, so that was nice, but I just wanted to like this so much but I didn't. It just didn't do anything special for my hair, it was sort of like rubbing lotion into my hair..if you can imagine what lotion would do after you put it in and blow dryed it.

Liquid -Illuminare - Ultimate All Day Foundation
prettybow 3/12/2008 11:24:00 PM
Well I am so sad to say that this foundation does not work on oily skinned women. I have been using Revlon Colorstay for the past 10 years because it is the ONLY foundation that has the combo I need: It really honestly stays on all day, and does not break me out at all and I am very acne prone so you can trust my judgement. I was bored and wanted something new so I heard about this foundation being long lasting and received it in a swap yesterday. Here is my experience: I applied it, in Portifino Porcelian, and it matched my fair skin perfect. It made my skin look flawless and like a soft focus look. I was amaized as I was in my car driving and checking it out in natural light. This was right after I applied it though. Within 1 hour..as my oiliness started to come in, it started smearing off my nose and then around my brows, and chin. Also a little under my eyes. How SAD I thought. It already let me down, and I was SOLD on it since it looked so beautiful earlier. OIL removes this foundation and messes up it's staying power. So therefore it totally is useless to me. Revlon never does this. My skin gets oily and I just use blotting sheets all day and it stays perfect. I used a blotting sheet on my illuminaire foundation and it blotted my makeup off on the sheet! My Revlon foundation never comes off on the blotting sheet. Soo, I guess there just isn't anything better out there, for me anyway than my Revlon colorstay. Thank goodness for it or else I would look like a hot mess everyday. I still hope to find an even better foundation one day soon!!!!

Lip Gloss -Bath and Body Works - Tutti Dolci - Apple Torta
prettybow 12/9/2005 4:53:00 PM
This is my 2nd gloss from the TD line- the other was the cinnamon frosting. I havent wrote a review in a long time but I had to for this because its so great. I was sold on it first just by the scent- I was in BBW smelling all the yummy stuff in the TD line, and when I seen the Apple Torta, I noticed it was this bold maroon color in the tube so I almost didnt even smell it cause I cant wear reds so what was the point right? Well I squirted some onto my hand and noticed that it goes on much sheerer. Its like a stain sort of, and Im white and blonde hair and Reds dont usually look good on me. This is perfectly pull-offable and OMG the smell is EXACTLY like a warm candy apple, I believe that describes this scent better than anything else. Its not sticky, and feels nice on. Its got a slight flavor but not enough to make you nautious. I really like this, especially for the holidays! Oh and these are normally 10 but I got it half off for their holiday sale.

Highlighters -MAC - Shimmersouffle 'Shimmerati'
prettybow 11/30/2004 10:45:00 PM
I BEGGED for shimmeratti & adorn shimmersouffles for my b-day which was just yesterday. Well, I got them, and theyre so cool, adn pretty, but I cant believe no one else mentioned this yet- after they dry, and youve worn it for like a hour...it starts to crack and look flaky/chunky on your lids..and it just looks really bad! Also, it felt REALLY tight after it dried, which was sorta bothersome.I was SOOOOOO sad about this cause I absolutely LOVED them otherwise. I tried to apply it thinner and it still did the same thing. I couldnt wear this out without worrying about how it was looking every 30 minutes. Too bad it wouldnt dry to a smooth finish.

Lip Gloss -mark - crystal aura pout potion
prettybow 11/15/2004 5:04:00 PM
I just got this today, I was SO pleasently suprised. This gloss smelt great, felt great, and looked great! I got Nirvana, which is a light pink with a holographic green shine to it. Its so pretty and feels so silky. This is my favorite gloss. I cant stop putting more on! The *only* complaint I have is about the tube it comes in. Its one of those brush tubes with the clicker thing at the bottom where you have to click it till the product comes out on the brush. It took a long time before it came out, and its hard to know when to stop clicking cause sometimes it takes forever for it to come out so you click it too much then a big blob comes out! That wont stop me from buying the other colors though. I know that I will master the "clicker" with time!..lol

Pressed Powders -MAC - Blot Powder - Medium
prettybow 10/23/2004 10:25:00 PM
ok, I have THEE oiliest skin Ive ever seen, so this sounded like the miracle I needed. It worked ok, but nothing special. I was pretty much dissapointed. I think it worked *a little* bit better than normal powders as far as controlling oil, but not much so I would rather spend my regular $5 on CoverGirl than buy this again. When will they actually be able to come out with something that works? One good thing about this is that it didnt break me out and trust me, i would have let you know. Thats one of my main worries so you can set that aside if you worry about breakouts also.

Bronzers -mark - Instant Vacation Hair and Body Oil
prettybow 7/10/2004 5:01:00 PM
I just got some of this. Its real watery, with a bronze metallic shimmer in it, pretty! It is real oily, but obviously thats how its supposed to be. After you rub it in, you cant really see the sparkles, but the scent is strong. It reminded me of something, and it took me awhile before I figured it out, but it smells like a freshly cleaned taco bell bathroom!...lol..seriously, which doesnt necessarily mean it smells bad!..anyway, I wouldnt use this on my hair, cause I dont see the point- unless you want to make your hair greasy for some reason! You cant see the shimmer when its on you hair anyway, so its just like putting plain old oil in your hair.

Fragrances -La Maison de la Vanille - Vanille Noire du Mexique
prettybow 6/18/2004 4:20:00 PM
This is the best scent out of this line, but in my opinion, none of them smell that great. Im 20 yrs, so I dont want to smell like an old lady. Each day I wore one of these fragrances,(especially the tahiti), you know, to test it out, see how it lasted and smelt at the end of the day- someone always commented something like, "ooh, whats that strong smell, is that you" and that I smelt like their mother. My bf hated it, and said to go out of the room cause I was giving him a migraine. I couldnt believe this. When I first smelt the tahiti,I was dissapointed cause there was no vanilla scent really at all. I smelt a strong powdery, gross note to it, but *had* to give it a try since everyone seemed to love it so much. Then I tried the others too, and man, they all smell pretty similar. The tropiques one was the most different out of the bunch, it smelt like jasmine, with of course that other nasty smell. I could not stand these scents, I tried to wear em, but I get sick from all of them.

Fragrances -Hanae Mori - Butterfly EDT
prettybow 6/12/2004 8:36:00 PM
Im writing this review for the Pink Butterfly version. I have it on right now so that I can give a very accurate review as I sniff..lol! It says that the notes in this perfume are- blackberry, srtawberry, black currant, bilberry, rose, jasmine, sandalwood, and rosewood. I smell baby powder first off, then the rosewood and sandalwood. Thats all I can smell when I put my nose directly to my arm, but during the day, if I get a whiff of it off myself, I sorta smell vanilla, and the strawberry part of it BUT I still mainly smell that powdery smell. I was a little dissapointed I must say, just because i thought this would be more vanilla-ish. It is still a pretty scent, and I think most would like it, just not what I was hoping for cause of the lack of the vanilla scent.

Fragrances -La Maison de la Vanille - Vanille Fleurie de Tahiti
prettybow 6/10/2004 7:20:00 PM
I was so anxious to try this. I LOVE vanilla scents, and this one was talked up so much. I finally got it and I really dont like it. It doesnt really smell like vanilla, more like strong powdery/perfumy smell. I asked someone what they thought it smelt like, and they said old lady perfume, and that they never would of guessed vanilla. Its too bad, cause I wanted to like this one soo bad! Now Im scared to try any of the others..maybe Ill like one of them?

Fragrances -Aquolina - Pink Sugar
prettybow 5/25/2004 2:02:00 PM
I LOVE the packaging..thats what attracts me first so I think pretty packaging is VERY important. I bought this scent because a friend of mine reccomended it to me, saying that she was SURE that i would love it. I bought 3 samples off ebay first ;) and got them yesterday. I at first smelt cotton candy, very yummy, and secondly, a sort of baby powdery scent, then a musky-woodsy scent, and lastly a burnt caramel smell? It smelt pretty good, and I wore it all day to see how long it lasts, and if the scent changed on me. It lasted about 4 hours, and the scent stayed the same. I was very sad when I read one of the reviews on here, cause this one lady posted that it smelt like insence. Now, I too, seem to smell that when wearing it, and I hate insence, they give me asthma, and a headache. I think that the insence smell makes up the musky/burnt carmel smell...See, I would have NEVER thought of Insence until I read that review, and that sucks. That lady ruined it for me. Im still going to finish off my samples, everyone else seems to think I smell yummy, and I still like the Pink Sugar alot, I just try to ignore that bad thought I have in my mind now.

Lotions/ Creams -Avon - CelluSculpt [DISCONTINUED]
prettybow 5/11/2004 8:48:00 PM
Ok, I just wanted to write to you all that are thinking of trying this. Alot of ladies have written about how bad it stinks...which really scared me. Now that I recieved my bottle, Im here to tell you that is smells FINE! Nothing different from a normal lotion you probably use everyday. I dont know what made them all say that it smelt so bad. Anyway, Ive only used it now 2 times, so I cant say whether it works yet, but I will be updating this soon! p.s. it does NOT stink! ;)

Gels/Soaps -Philosophy - Strawberry Milkshake 3 in 1
prettybow 2/20/2004 9:50:00 PM
I was really let down when I first opened mine. I thought because if the brand and price, that there had to be something special about the scent, but nope. It was a crappy strawberry scent- someone had said "dollar store quality scent" and I agree...although you could find even better at the dollar store. I had a bottle of Suave shampoo that was strawberry scented in my shower when I first used the philosophy, and compared, and to tell you the truth, Id rather pay 64cents for that than the overly priced Strawberry Milkshake. Im eager to try maybe Cinnamon Buns since it had good reviews, but this one was a total waste of money. :(

Fragrances -Demeter - Rain Pick Me Up Spray
prettybow 2/20/2004 7:42:00 PM
sick. I did not like this scent at all. I got it, and was very excited. It was actually raining when I got it from the mail, so I was anxious to see just how much it smelt like a rainy day- the smell of which I love. It had a nausiating quality about it..I couldnt wear it without feeling sick and headache-ish. Its too bad, I was hoping for the real thing.
