Polishes -OPI - Dating a Royal

A creamy blue. That's about it. I lurve blue np because it is dark enough to not "offend" while not being a tired black or vamp. I so miss OPI's Sahara Sapphire which was more metallic blue that I crave. I'll take the recs to use Heartbreaker over it and see if I'll change my mind. And a $1 increase on OPI? No one is that good.

Skincare - Body -Vaseline - Vitalizing Gel Body Oil, With Brazillian Nut and Almond Oils
rated 4 of 5
prettiedup 1/28/2008 9:01:00 PM

Have been using this only about a week but I have to admit, it does wonders for me in the harsh winter. I have been hesitant to use oils and such because of the break-out factor. But so far, so good. I put it on right after the shower, while my skin is still wet. I haven't had the problem of the product staining clothes. Hopefully, this will be a HG for me. I'd really like to use it in summer. It seems to give skin a glow of sorts. My skin feels ... plumpy? But in a good way.

Conditioner -Matrix - color smart Protective Luminating System Conditioner
rated 1 of 5
prettiedup 1/19/2008 7:43:00 PM

I admit, I picked up a liter of this conditioner at the drugstore for the rock bottom price of $6.50. That's about the only good thing about this product. I can't believe THIS is a Matrix product. It is watery and does absolutely nothing in the way of conditioning. (My hair is thick and wavy .... not sure if maybe this would work on another hair texture. But with this being a professional product? Don't waste your money. No matter your hair type.)

Hair -Sunsilk - ThermaShine Detangling Shine Spray
rated 4 of 5
prettiedup 9/25/2007 11:20:00 AM

First things first. This is not a 'shine' spray. It is strictly for detangling. If it adds a bit of shine, that's a bonus. But as a detangler, it more than serves its purpose. And at around $3 per bottle, it is affordable. I stock up on this stuff, especially when Sunsilk gives away $2 off coupons. As a detangler, this product works as well or better than any salon formulas. Maybe its not a HG, but its not chopped liver either.

Polishes -OPI - Catherine the Grape
rated 4 of 5
prettiedup 8/9/2007 11:41:00 AM

Catherine the Grape, from OPI’s Russian collection, is a plum purple with gold shimmer (although I’ve heard some describe the shimmer as ‘bronze’). Regardless, this is a rich, beautiful color that will be perfect for autumn. The first coat was a bit streaky, but a second coat really makes it work. The color is reminiscent of another OPI favorite of mine, Route Beer Float. However, Catherine the Grape is less "muddy" than RBF. This color is darker, yet brighter … if that makes any sense. It is definitely a must-have for fall. A lovely respite from the black and navy hues that are likely to dominate the season.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Scene 1
rated 3 of 5
prettiedup 1/2/2007 10:58:00 AM

This is a very pretty pink eyeshadow. A velvet, like has a hint of shimmer. However, it is nearly the same shade as Pink Venus (which I also own). I pair this (and Pink Venus) with Cranberry for a warm, almost sunset-y looking eye. It is a very pretty, almost cotton candy pink but goes on warm. But, again, if you have Pink Venus, don't bother getting Scene 1. They are that close with PV being just a hint, a small hint, darker.

Lipstick -MAC - Russe
rated 4 of 5
prettiedup 1/2/2007 10:54:00 AM

Since MAC discontinued my favorites Modum and Isis, I've been looking for a cool, grayish pink. For some reason the shade works on my olive skin. Russe is a lustre and part of a new MAC collection (forgive me, the name of said collection escapes me at this time). Russe is as close as I've found to my discontinued babies. A cool pink, a bit paler, in my opinion, but nice. I pair it with Stone, but it could be worn quite nicely with Stripdown, as well. A cool color, but not for everyone. And the lustre formula always gets a thumbs up from me. Rich and smooth. I like my lipstick like I like my men, I guess.

Polishes -OPI - Espresso Your Style
rated 3 of 5
prettiedup 12/5/2006 12:09:00 PM

The color is quite pretty. A deep brown that is will work for those who are over the black polish that has dominated lately. Yet, as with many OPI products, it chips terribly and quickly. I used this polish at 2 p.m. and within three hours the color was chipping off of not one, not two, but three nails. I don't notice this with ALL OPI colors I've tried, but sure did this time. OPI still has the market cornered on pretty colors and inventive names, but the formula has to be stronger if I'm going to continue to plunk down nearly 8 bones a bottle.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - Temptations Twisted Peppermint body lotion
rated 4 of 5
prettiedup 11/9/2006 10:49:00 AM

HELLO!! This lotion, a vanilla-tinged peppermint, is SUPER bracing. It is almost heated after application. You can really 'feel' the peppermint. Love the scent and the lotion is adequate. Cute novelty for the holiday season. The price is $8, but I got this free with a coupon.

Lip Gloss -Bath and Body Works - Goldie lip gloss
rated 4 of 5
prettiedup 6/6/2006 2:59:00 PM

OK, I giving this glosses a strange review ... I purchased the smaller tubes for $1.25 during a B&BW sale so you can't beat the price. I got about ...um ... OK, I bought 8 of them in different shades (figuring if I can't wear them one of my friends Christmas stocking is getting stuffed a bit earlier this year). The ones I've tried have been super sheer and pretty. The scent is divine (like, you guess it from reading the other reviews, cake). I'm a MAC addict, but the Goldie glosses are light and fresh. I don't think I would have picked up the glosses had it not been for the amazing price. But they are good and sheer for summer. Also, the little sleek tubes are darling. The bigger size of the glosses looked a bit bulky.

Hair Color -Garnier - Color Breaks Dimensional Lightener-- light auburn to reddish brown
rated 3 of 5
prettiedup 5/23/2006 3:04:00 PM

I bought this hair color -- as I buy most of my hair color -- on a whim. The mixing bowl is a tad flimsy, but you're not mixing cement, so it does serve its purpose. The mascara wand-esque applicator is a bit odd, but again, it does the job. The actual product did not work on my hair. It didn't lighten it or "break" up the color. But it didn't dry out my hair, so for that I'm thankful. No conditioner comes with the product.

Other -Bath and Body Works - Fresh Vanilla Home Fragrance Oil
rated 3 of 5
prettiedup 5/23/2006 2:58:00 PM

I recently got on a fragrance oil kick and picked up Fresh Vanilla because the scent seemed inviting. However, it was too spicy for my nose. I like my vanilla more pure-smelling.

Styling Products -Dove - Advanced Color Care leave-in luminizing mist
rated 3 of 5
prettiedup 5/1/2006 12:15:00 PM

I'm a sucker for sparkles and this is a product that has them SWIRLING around in a pretty pink bottle. I couldn't resist. This product just dried out my hair, didn't do anything special. I agree with a reviewer here that can't figure out why Dove has great skincare products and terrible hair products. The price isn't too bad for a product like this. Just didn't work on my colored and dried out coarse hair. Left my hair sort of stiff.

Conditioner -Wella - System Professional Color Saver Balm
rated 3 of 5
prettiedup 3/27/2006 10:26:00 AM

This is a good enough conditioner, however the enormous price for the little amount of product will keep me from re-purchasing. My salon was having a demo and I think the free head massage was what sold me. Not a bad product, just too pricey for a not-extraordinary conditioner.

Bronzers -Shiseido - Sheer Enhancer Base in Golden Bronze
rated 4 of 5
prettiedup 1/23/2006 11:09:00 AM

This "bronzer" gives a nice glow. It is hard to mess up, while the powder bronzers seem to be. (Or maybe it is my less-than-perfect application). Anyway. The price is a bit steep, considering you could find, like a previous reviewer mentioned, a comparable product in the drugstore. Will keep using as long as I have the stuff ... there is a lot of product in the bottle which is a positive.
