Foundations -Almay - TLC Truly Lasting Color
popochoo 8/31/2012 3:41:00 PM
I've been using Almay's transfer-resistant foundation for over 6 years now (It used to be called Amazing Lasting). It lasts 2-4 hours on my super oily nose, but closer to 10 hours on my less oily cheeks. Which is 50% longer than a non-transfer resistant foundation. It's impervious to water - the only thing that will get it off is oil (I use a Japanese oil cleanser first, and then a regular cleanser). The color range is neutral (Buff, the 2nd lightest shade, is a great match), and the texture is smooth. I put a nickel+dime-size glob on my finger and smooth it over red areas (I don't rub in too much) and it covers very well. Other places, like my forehead, which doesn't need a lot of coverage, I put on a thin layer and rub it in. I find it impossible to build coverage - I have to start off with the level of coverage I want. This takes some practice, and you have to work quickly (it dries within 20 seconds) but it well worth it. If I need to cover spots, I take a lip brush and use the TLC concealer (which is a GREAT concealer). The foundation will accentuate ANY flaky/dry spots, so exfoliate well and moisturize if you need. I'm not joking - it will look awful over any area that's even slightly dry. The finish is matte, a bit powdery - so don't expect a glowy finish (my glowy finish comes when my natural oils start to seep through). I've used Revlon Colorstay, which has a much thicker texture and the colors are a lot more yellow/orange. Estee Lauder is too pink. Almay is the best of the lot.

Liquid -Almay - Almay Truly Lasting Color longwear makeup

usually, my oily skin eats through foundation in about 3 hours. Foundation also tends to change color on me. This foundation resists those problems. #02 Buff is my best shade - neutral undertone. I use one pump, cut with Shiseido SPF 50 sunscreen and a touch of another drugstore foundation - this cuts the texture and makes it look less heavy. I use my fingers to spread, and use a cleansing oil + salux washcloth at night to remove.

Lip Gloss -Burt's Bees - Burts Bees Lip Shimmers

**UPDATE Nov. 2011** Did the formula change? It doesn't have that same buttery texture, and it doesn't moisturize as well. ** This is my holy grail of MLBB lip balms. I am a PPP with dark eyes and dark hair, and I use Rhubarb or Fig. The formula is amazing - I've applied it on my lips when they were chapped and disgusting and within minutes, the moisturizers smooth things out dramatically. I also reapply during the day; it never gets cakey like other lip balms. Also, the color doesn't streak or look uneven. The minty taste is very pleasant and the tingle is very mild.

Lipstick -Lime Crime - Candyfuture Lipstick - All Shades

**UPDATE Nov 2011** I threw this lipstick away, it was just too drying. ** I wear Countessa Fluorescent. It is a neon pink, and personally, I love the color. The formula is, as others have mentioned, drying and difficult to layer. It's difficult to put on an even, non-streaky layer. After a while, it gets cake-y. Also, the formula is drying. If you don't wear this with some sort of lipbalm, hello flakes! And yes, it stains. Although I'm ok with that. However, I still enjoy the color, so I'll keep wearing it.

Lotions/ Creams -Fresh - Rice Dry Oil
popochoo 12/24/2007 6:34:00 PM
Great smelling oil - fruity, peachy. Not greasy. But very very expensive! Almost $50 for a bottle. However, I would re-buy because it layers very well with Fresh's Fig Apricot EDP. Also, my skin feels incredible smooth and velvety with the oil (but I don't have dry skin). For best results, use on damp skin right after shower.

Deodorants -Fresh - Roll-on Sugar, Deodorant and Antiperspirant
popochoo 12/24/2007 6:20:00 PM
Doesn't really stop the sweat, but it makes my pits smell like a meyer lemon cupcake - not cloyingly sweet, not like a bathroom cleaner...just a fresh, delicious, NATURAL lemon. It is expensive, but it lasts a very long time, and never leaves white marks of clothes. It has the texture of a face lotion, and never stings my skin.

Fragrances -Fresh - Fig Apricot
popochoo 12/24/2007 6:13:00 PM
This is my 2nd bottle, and I will definitely buy another bottle. It seems from the reviews that the fragrance either works with your chemistry, or totally clashes. I'm lucky that this fragrance smells luscious on me: as if I've been walking through a fig and apricot orchard on a sunny day. My boyfriend is always smelling my skin, and everyone tells me how great I smell.

Mascara -Dejavu (Imju) - Fiberwig Lash Knockout
popochoo 8/22/2007 9:29:00 PM
This mascara not only prevents raccoon eyes...but it also is the most amazing lengthener I've ever used. First, I put on a thickening mascara, and then I put on as many layers of Fiberwig as necessary. There is no spidery, spiky ends. I wait for each layer to dry before putting on another, and there is still not a clump! Instead, my lashes look super fluttery and natural/wispy at the end. CONS: It doesn't thicken well, so don't think this will give you the "false lashes" look it advertises. And it doesn't hold curl as well as a typical waterproof mascara. Oh, and the brush is on the big side, unfortunately. In Japan, they have a smaller, more precise brush, but it hasn't come to the States yet.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)

I put this sparingly on my lids, and UNDER my eyes also. I find that the smudging under my eyes, from mascara or shadows (my eyes droop a bit at the ends) is noticeably less. So, it keeps the eyeshadow in place, and also keeps the oily parts of your eye in check, too. I use this every day and I recommend to those with oily lids.

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stylist Mascara ] [DISCONTINUED]
popochoo 12/17/2006 1:03:00 AM
This is a very dramatic mascara. The brush/comb is designed to deposit the most amount of product on your lashes as possible. I finally found the best way to use it. First, curl your lashes and use a "normal" waterproof mascara that keeps the curl. I use Maybelline Lash Discovery first, because it holds the curl, and doesn't add any bulk. Then, LIGHTLY apply the Lash Stylist. Keep on brushing it from root to tip on to get rid of the clumps (it sounds illogical, but this is the best way to get smooth lashes). Voila - extremely dramatic, very long, very black lashes. I use the WP black.

Toners -DDF - Glycolic Toner 10%
popochoo 7/10/2006 1:35:00 PM
Skintype: very oily, sensitive, acne-prone I love this toner - if I don't use it, my skin doesn't have the same glow. Not to mention - the acne comes back. I use it every night, but I have super oily skin. The first time I tried it, I broke out horribly. So I stopped. However, for some reason, I took it up again and stuck with it. So glad I did - my skin has not been this smooth in a long, long time.

Mascara -MAC - Zoom lash
popochoo 9/11/2005 1:20:00 AM
The WORST mascara I've ever tried - even worse than the Maybelline great last everyone despises. First of all, it is impossible to wipe off any excess. The hairs on the brush are very short and densely packed together. So, you start off with gunky. And when you apply it...nothing. It doesn't lengthen. It doesn't thicken. It smudges. It clumps. Clear mascara is a better option to this one. Avoid at all costs.

Toners -Kiehls - Herbal Blue Astringent
popochoo 5/19/2005 11:34:00 AM
Warning: this is not for all-over the face...even if you have super oily skin (like me), this toner will not only dry your skin out, but also encourage flakiness and perhaps even breaking out. That said,it is very effective for keeping my nose from going nuts, because my nose is ridiculously clogged and oily. And once a week or so, I swipe my T-Zone with it. But I'm sure Sea Breeze would work just as well.

Toners -Kiehls - Rosewater facial freshening toner
popochoo 5/19/2005 11:30:00 AM
Great, great toner for oily skin! This toner has some alcohol, but not as much as the Blue Toner, and there is absolutely no stinging, even when I pick at my skin. Although I'm still oily, I am less oily (must be the alcohol). That and I haven't broken out in a month! ONE MONTH! I use this morning and night, although I use the Blue Toner for my super-duper-oily-and-clogged nose.

Cleansers -Kiehls - Blue Herbal Gel Cleanser
popochoo 5/19/2005 11:28:00 AM
About a month ago, I went to the Kiehls store in downtown NYC to pick up the Blue Toner. As a sample, I was given the Blue Cleanser. And the cleanser just blew me away. It is a watery gel that foams up, although not extravagently as other cleansers. It has a cool tingle (not a stinging Noxema tingle), and it removes make-up decently (if you wear heavy make-up, you may need something else before). But the best part is, it leaves my skin exceptionally smooth, smoother than your average toner. I believe it has some BHA acid in it, and it really helps my skin stay soft and acne-free. Since I started using it, I haven't had a major breakout. Amazing, considering how badly my chin was breaking out just a month ago.
