Polishes -Unlisted Brand - Pure Ice - Oh Baby
poor_stargazer 11/3/2009 4:12:00 AM
Oh Baby is a gorgeous sheer polish with lavender and blue shimmer. This looks amazing over CQ "Deep Blue Sea" (or any basic blue for that matter), WNW Black, New York Summer's "Poppies", etc, etc. It seriously looks good over everything I've tried. Another success from Pure Ice. And at $1.97, the price is right for this poor girl!

First of all, LOL at angeymac's color description below, and she is right on. I love this as a layering polish. I've done it over black, over Wet 'N Wilds "Carribean Frost", and used illekkelli's (below) suggestion of layering over ChG "For Audrey", all with gorgeous results. I look forward to trying several different combinations, but as of now that's all I've done. I've been very impressed with all my Pure Ice nail polishes. Great colors, great wear, great price. <3

Polishes -Sinful - All About You
poor_stargazer 11/3/2009 4:00:00 AM
The reviewer below described this beautifully and added gorgeous pics so I won't add to the color description. I will add that I too agree, like the other reviewers, that this is a gorgeous color, even on it's own. Three coats is good for me on it's own, or I've done 2 coats layered over black or ChG "Wagon Trail". On it's own, this probably would have lasted a long time on me, but I only wore it for 1 day. Layered, both times, it wore very well with only minimal tip-wear by the end of the second days but my work is harsh so this is normal for me. A great glitter for a cheap price!

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Craze - Nocturnal
poor_stargazer 11/3/2009 3:48:00 AM
This is a great dark blue creme for a great price. I bought one to wear alone, and another to franken into my version of Essie Starry, Starry, Night (it wasn't exact by any means). I used Nocturnal, and added ChG Tinsel (a silver glitter), Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in "Diamond" (a white/silver fine glitter), and Maybelline Colorama "Blazes of Blue" (a blue and green glitter in a sheer light blue base). Again, it does not look like SSN, but it's freakin' gorgeous if I say so myself, and I do! So yeah, Nocturnal is great as is, or used to make yourself in amazing starry night colored polish. I wore this (just Nocturnal) for 2 days and I had only minimal tip-wear ( I clean a lot though, so this is normal for me). Overall, a great color at a great price. Don't care for the bottle/brush size, but for $1.99 I guess I shouldn't complain. <3

Polishes -China Glaze - Rose Among Thorns
poor_stargazer 11/3/2009 3:40:00 AM
BAM!!!!!! This is my favorite red of all time! A bright, NEON that everyone will notice 'cause it's seriously that freakin' bright! This takes 3-4 coats for my satisfaction, which usually I don't like to use more than 2 coats, but this color is so amazing that I don't mind. I usually end up wearing this color for as long as possible and that's about 3 days before I have tip-wear/chipping (I clean a lot though so that's impressive to me). Usually I never wear a polish enough to have to purchase another one, but this may be one of them. If I were told right now this was being discontinued, I'd buy as many as my bank account would let me and then use a credit card to buy more! <3

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Craze in Lust

*Sings Joan Jett's* : "I hate myself for loving you!" Seriously, I despise pinks with a passion. Always have. And yet, I kept eyeing this one at my Walgreens every darned time. Finally, I caved with the thought that I'd try it, hate it and get it out of my system. Well I actually really like it. I don't know what makes this different than any other pink I've always hated, but alas, I like it very much. Anyway, the price is good at $2. I've worn this as a pedi and it lasted about 2 weeks before chipping (and I wear flip flops and sandals and stub my toes all the time). I like to konad different designs in black over this (thinking maybe black will make it more rockin' for me, yes I'm a dork). So, unfortunately, this is a good color, and not disappointing at all. :P

Polishes -Color Club - Worth the Risque
poor_stargazer 11/3/2009 3:23:00 AM
I LOVE Holographic colors and this one hits the mark. Silver holo that takes 2 coats to look beautiful! I think I like the ChG OMG silver holo better, and the NFU one (that I don't own yet) is waaay better, but this is definitely a great one. Staying power on me lasted the 2 days I wore it with no chipping/tip-wear. I also use this to Konad over black which looks really awesome! Color Club never disappoints me!

Polishes -Sinful - See You Soon
poor_stargazer 11/3/2009 3:15:00 AM
I love this color. It's a blackened teal shimmer that actually looks that way on the nails! I'm a huge vamp fan so this was a must have for me. This took 2 coats for me. Now the problem... I usually don't wear polish long enough to tell how it wears, but this was chipping by that night, and that might be disappointing for some who like their polish to last a long time. I should add that I had used a generic top coat, so this may be to blame. This is definitely a gorgeous color though, and well worth the $2!

Polishes -MAC - Peppermint Patti
poor_stargazer 11/3/2009 3:06:00 AM
I'm all over the place with this one. The color is awesome and it looks great when I'm tan or pale. That is the only good thing I have to say about it unfortunately. It applies terribly. I've tried thinning and still it applies very streaky and goopy. I'm also not a fan of the bottle, I find it awkward. This wore well the two days I had it on, with no chips/tip-wear, but for the price, honestly this wasn't worth it to me. I believe I could find or franken a similar color for much cheaper with a better formula. Sorry MAC, a swing and a miss.

Polishes -Sinful - Tapping Nails
poor_stargazer 11/3/2009 2:55:00 AM
My bottle of Tapping Nails is an orange shimmer that flashes gold at times. Not quite duo-chrome, but close enough that I love it. This takes two coats for me, and dries pretty fast. This is one of the fewer Sinful's that I own that is on the thinner side, not sheer though, but I have bought several Sinful's that were thick and goopy. I can't attest to the wear on this too much as I rarely wear colors longer than 2 days. But, I did not have any chips or tip-wear in the short time that I have worn it. These are $1.99 at Walgreens, sometimes on sale they are BOGO, so definitely look for those. Overall, this is one of my fav oranges and I recommend it. <3

Polishes -China Glaze - Cowgirl Up
poor_stargazer 11/3/2009 2:48:00 AM
The Rodeo Diva Collection is successful again! I love just about every color in it, including the amazing Cowgirl Up. "Violetcobra" below described the color very well. This is a two-coater for me and did not chip in the 2 days that I wore it. I love to layer Pure Ice "Really Rio" and Sinful "I Love You" over this to make it even more awesome. I actually wore this in my friends wedding a few weeks ago, and also painted the Maid of Honor's nails too and the Bride loved it. Overall, a fantastic color that I can't imagine anyone not liking. <3

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Wild Shine - Caribbean Frost 446B
poor_stargazer 11/3/2009 2:37:00 AM
Surprisingly, I like this. It's a pretty teal-ish color, almost chrome-like. The girls below who said it reminded them of mermaids, yep me too. Application is decent, though I hate WNW's brushes, but for $1 I guess I shouldn't complain. I only have to use two coats for satisfaction. I love to layer Pure Ice "Mint Dream" over this. Also, I've layered one of the Sally Hansen Opal's over it (the one with a golden sheen, can't remember the name) and it was beautiful. And as the reviewer below stated, it looks good with a matte top coat. So try it, for a dollar, why not? <3

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Insta-Dri in Lightening
poor_stargazer 11/3/2009 2:28:00 AM
I am not a fan of yellow by any means, but I decided to try this in the summer and am glad I did. This is the perfect smiley face yellow. Opaque in one coat and I happen to be a fan of the brush. I generally only use this color when I'm doing some sort of funky designs over it. I've done black fishnet (with the Konad) over it which got the Lancome sales lady to call over the Clinique and Estee Lauder girls to come look at :) I've also used a dotter with Black n/p to make a smiley face or not-so-smiley face. Also I have used this to konad designs over orange creme's in the summer with great results. The wear and dry time is good in my opinion. Overall, even though I don't wear yellow that often, this is the one I would reach for if I did. Also, I'm very cheap and the price was good for me, $2 on sale at my Walgreens. Not bad.

Polishes -Sinful - Midnight Blue
poor_stargazer 11/3/2009 2:19:00 AM
Where's the love girls? Well, I really liked this color. It is bright and almost metallic on me. When I'm not tanned, I have very pale olive skin, and I find this blue is flattering with my skin tone. Takes about 2-3 coats, usually 2 but I do 3 for the "what the hey" reasons. This polish is on the thinner side, which was shocking because most the Sinful's I get are Über thick, but not too thin that it was streaky. I like layering Pure Ice "Strapless" over this and I've also tried Sinful "Hottie". Anyway, this is one of my favorite blues which is cool since it's only $2 and Walgreens often has BOGO sales which makes buying even "meh" shades feel okay. <3

Polishes -Orly - Coffee Break
poor_stargazer 11/3/2009 2:07:00 AM
After seeing this on a fellow MUA-er on the Nail Board, I loved it and had to buy it. Was what I thinking? It looked so good on her! But on me, it looked like something that should only come out of you and be flushed at once! Maybe my skin tone just clashed or something (NC20)? I'm a huge fan of Orly, I love the bottle's rubbery neck, and I usually like the formula as well. But as the reviewer below stated, this one was streaky on me. As I said, I have seen this look gorgeous on others, but on me, not so much. Try at your own risk.
