Treatments -Nailtiques - Formula 1 Nail Protein

I can't believe there were any bad reviews on this product! I got this on sale, for $8, which I thought was expensive. Anyway, let me tell you, my nails were a disaster. After wearing acrylics for 7 months, my nails would not grow for 2 yrs! They were a brittle, breaking, chipping mess. I used this little miracle formula for a month, applying it every 3 days, and my nails are now strong, long, and beautiful. I will repurchase this at the regular price of $18, GULP!. I won't like it,, but this stuff is definitely worth it.

Makeup Brushes -Unlisted Brand - Studio Tools Crease Brush
rated 5 of 5
poetsdream7 2/9/2013 8:44:00 AM

These brushes are now Up & Up brand, which is Target's "house" brand. Anyway, this crease brush is such a handy little brush! The size is perfect, it's slightly tapered to fit right into the crease then fluffy & soft for blending the color through the crease. Not to mention dirt cheap! I have 5 of these, so I always have a clean one...lol. This is an ideal starter brush, for young girls that are learning how to apply makeup...and for us veterans of m/u, this is quite simply a damn good brush.

Blush -Physicians Formula - POwder Palette Multi-Colored Blush

I have been using Blushing Natural for about 10 yrs now. I have many other blushes, but this is one I know I can depend on for a natural light bronze/peach glow. PF seems to have the secret to making a product that gives you a "glow from within" look w/out the obvious shimmer. (I don't mean their shimmer products, which I love too) This is why we spend a little more for their products, I think. Their powders are the best on the market, imo. Now if they could work on their packaging...

Eye Shadow -Physicians Formula - Matte Collection Quad Eyeshadow in Classic Nudes

I came this close to buying the UD Naked Basics palette w/a Sephora gift card I received at Xmas. Then I remembered that I have this little palette as well as Canyon Classics. I swatched the shadows in the NB palette and realized that my little PF palettes were just as good. These mattes are every bit as creamy and pigmented as Urban Decay's. No Lie! There may be a couple that are a bit patchy and slightly powdery (but not chalky at all, imo), but hey, Urban Decay doesn't get it right every time either, right? These palettes are essential to any makeup collection. And Very reasonably priced. I'm so glad that I remembered these little matte palettes before I splurged on an item I really didn't need.

Blush -Revlon - ColorStay Mineral Blush in Honey
rated 4 of 5

I bought this at CVS for 75% off. I don't think I would pay $12 for this blush, even though I do really like it. But there are similar blushes for much cheaper, at full price. Anyway, this is the blush I reach for in the morning when I don't have time to fool with bronzer/blush/highlighter routine. A couple sweeps of this on the cheeks and it warms up my complexion, giving me a natural glow. It is a bit shimmery, but not in your face...just a nice warm sheen that accentuates the cheekbones. Perfect for an everyday, neutral, office friendly blush. I would purchase again, but not at full price. I should have picked up a backup during the sale.

Lipstick -Cover Girl - Queen Collection South Beach Sand

This looks so pretty as a "topper" lipstick; wear it on top of a matte l/s if you want more shine. Or to tone down a bright l/s to make it more office appropo. And I know this will get a lot of use this summer. I wear this w/ Rimmel Eastend Snob lipliner. Perfect golden glowey-nudey-pink lip.

Eye Shadow -Jordana - A Classic
rated 5 of 5
poetsdream7 12/1/2012 3:34:00 PM

This eyeshadow is a gorgeous metallic, reddish/coppery bronze w/ a very slight pinkish undertone. It is also an almost spot on dupe for Nars California, only the Nars e/s lacks the slight pinky tone. Swatched side by side, they have the same finish, texture and (nearly the same) tone. The price is 1/10th of the Nars shadow. Jordana never ceases to amaze me. I'm very surprised these e/s don't get more attention. I think they're up there w/ WnW. It would be amazing if they'd come out w/ more shadows and palettes, too!

Eye Shadow -Jordana - Color Effects Powder Eyeshadow Duo
rated 5 of 5
poetsdream7 11/30/2012 7:43:00 AM

I have 5 of these incredible duos. I use Good Match nearly everyday! It is a perfect "workhorse" duo. I always use a matte soft warm brown to blend out my crease, and a matte cream color for cleaning up around the eye and for a natural highlight. This duo is awesome for these purposes!! I already have a backup and if I hear the dreaded "discontinued" word, I will buy many more!! It's rare to find good matte colors in the d/s, but to have two pigmented, smooth, beautifully blendable colors in the same duo? Well, Jordana has delivered!!!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Expert Wear Eyeshadow in Champagne Fizz
rated 5 of 5
poetsdream7 11/7/2012 7:23:00 AM

This shade used to be matte! I own the matte version, which I've hit pan on and have one back up. I'm so glad I have the back up because Maybelline has made this a shimmery shade now. Why didn't they simply give the shimmery shade a different name and keep the matte shade?! Love the matte shade for a natural brow highlight. I'm sure the shimmer shade is pretty, but ...oh well, I'll just use my back up and shut up...LOL

Eye Shadow -Sally Girl - Mini Baked Eyeshadow - All colors
rated 3 of 5
poetsdream7 10/28/2012 9:18:00 AM

I have 4 of these, but my very favorite is the gray/purple. It's the perfect color to smoke out a purple smokey eye. Also for a smokey eye that's office friendly, just put this color on your lid (only) blend it out w/ your fave blending color in the crease and you have a beautiful purple toned smokey eye. I always use a dark matte gray in the outer corners, just a touch. This is one of my favorite 5 min looks and a great way to incorporate color.

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Studio Matte Eyeshadow
rated 4 of 5
poetsdream7 8/11/2012 1:28:00 PM

I purhased several of the studio matte e/s nearly 5 months ago, but have only used one of them maybe once. Today I decided to use the Baked Berry matte shadow as an outer corner/crease shade to create a soft smokey eye. This shade looks boring & blah in the pot, but it is a lovely taupey lavender color, which makes a gorgeous crease shade. This shadow creates such a nice soft contour for the crease. It can be built up to create a more intense smokey eye, if desired. I've discovered a new fave that has been under my nose for a long time.I've noticed that ELF doesn't carry this color anymore. Shame.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Infallible- Smoldering Plum
rated 5 of 5
poetsdream7 7/8/2012 7:01:00 AM

Gorgeous, gorgeous shadow! The same as Burning Black in Europe & Canada. I reviewed this under that name, but to recap, a gorgeous smokey eyeshadow. Use a small amount, lots of blending w/ other (mostly matte) shadows, for an office/daytime friendly smokey eye look. Definitely a staple in my collection!

Eyes -L.A. Colors - JUMBO EYE PENCIL
rated 4 of 5
poetsdream7 6/30/2012 4:52:00 AM

These just appeared at my local Family Dollar. I picked up the black & purple ones. I find them to be every bit as creamy, pigmented & blendable as NYX JP. Why is everyone complaining about them creasing? NYX creases, too...like crazy, but both are great as an e/s base. I actually find them less "greasy" than NYX, despite the fact they have petroleum (and so does NYX!) For $2, they are perfect for what they are, a creamy e/s base.

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation
rated 4 of 5
poetsdream7 6/22/2012 8:24:00 AM

I'll get the cons out of the way first, only one...the dispenser (packaging, whatever), I hate that no matter how well you shake it, there's always a bit flying off somewhere--onto my clothes, the shower curtain (which is quite a distance away!), my hair...sigh, you get the idea. It may be user error, I admit If anyone has found a way to dispense this stuff w/out it spitting, please let me know. Anyway, I do like this product. I love how it feels very light, covers just enough, can be built up to med coverage. A perfect Summer foundation, IMO.

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Studio Cream in Bronzed
rated 5 of 5
poetsdream7 5/28/2012 9:53:00 PM

I love these cream shadows, especially the bronze shade! These are a bit dry in their consistency, and set very quickly, so you have to work fast with these, one eye at a time, to get the best result. Oh, and definitely better to apply with your finger for the best blending, color pay-off and even distribution. This is beautiful for a bronze smokey eye, or to wear alone for a simple, sexy bronze look. Oh, and I bought what I thought was the copper cream e/l at Target(you know, in the smaller pot). But, get this, it was the bronze cream e/s in the smaller packagin!!! This was about a month ago. Maybe they have listened to our groaning about the bulkiness of the original, and are changing the packaging to the smaller pot?!
