This really irritated my sensitive skin - wanted this for summer time when my combo skin gets really greasy. It was really shiny, and made my skin really blotchy, itchy, and with tiny bumps (i think maybe there's alot of alcohol in the formulation?). i put some on my SO and it burned his eyes immediately.

why is this called lait/lotion?? it's a thick white paste that is extremely difficult to spread and leaves a very noticeable cast. had to really work this in to make it look even somewhat presentable. horrible.

Foundations -Clarins - True Comfort Foundation [DISCONTINUED]

Another liquid foundation that bothers my eyes!! Iīve tried a fair number of foundations in my life and never had this problem until this year - are they putting more perfume into makeup?? After about five hours of wearing this, my contacts were completely dried out. If you donīt have sensitive eyes, this could work for you - applies and blends like a tinted moisturizer, and doesnīt sink into pores. decent coverage and shade no. 3 isnīt peachy or pink.

Cleansers -Kanebo - Naive Cleansing Oil

Great product - picked this up in Japan and I really like it. Itīs a good thing I can buy this in the US! Was afraid to try cleansing oils for a long time after using Amore Pacificīs which broke me out really badly. But now that Iīm using a Euro SS, really wanted to try again as my creamy cleanser doesnīt really do the trick. This removes makeup and SS well, and washes off really clean. Since I have dryish skin, I donīt follow up with anything else. Hasnīt broken me out nor has it irritated my really sensitive skin.

Sunscreen -Bioderma - Photoderm MAX Fluide SPF 50 PPD 35
rated 3 of 5
pocari 4/21/2007 5:14:00 PM

The Fluide has a lighter texture than the Lait and so feels lighter on the face as well. But it is not any less shiny or whitening than the Lait (my HG), and so for me there is no reason to buy this again. It is a lot more expensive than the Lait - in a pharmacy in Paris, the 40 ml Fluide was about 10 euro and the 100ml Lait was only 12 euro!!

Sunscreen -Avene - Avene Lait Ecran Extreme SPF 60
rated 1 of 5

Bioderma lait spf 50 is my HG. But as it can be somewhat drying, I was looking for something for the winter, especially to wear under makeup. I also wanted to replace my LRP Hydraphase, my winter sunscreen, as the price is outrageous (20 euro for 50 ml) and Iīm not a big fan of Meroxyl (seems to leave my face flushed). This has Tinosorb which seems to work better for me. I found this to be more moisturizing, a lot greasier, and left less of a white cast than the Bioderma. This would have been fine for those really cold winter days, except it broke me out!!! I was so surprised since I use several Avene products (moisturizer, Eluage, Cicalfate, and Coldcream gel). I guess Iīll just have to work with the Bioderma.

Liquid -Chanel - Blanc Essentiel Light Reflecting Whitening Fluid Foundation SPF 20
rated 1 of 5
pocari 4/9/2007 4:15:00 PM

This foundation was a complete disappointment for me! I was so excited to try this as it is marketed especially for Asian skin. As someone with very pale skin with a strong yellow undertone, I have an extremely hard time finding colors that work for me. The lightest color, 10 beige clair, was a good enough match that I could just apply only where needed to even out my skintone. Covers up red patches well, fairly easy to blend, and didnīt break me out or irritate my skin. This does highlight flakes, but I can deal with that since most foundations do. So why one lippie? Because something (the perfume?) made my eyes really dry and itchy, to the point where I had to remove my contacts, and wash this off my face. So frustrating. The search for the perfect foundation continues...

Treatments -Avene - Diacneal Acne Treatment [DISCONTINUED]
rated 1 of 5
pocari 3/25/2007 4:21:00 PM

As mentioned before, if you have sensitive skin - STAY AWAY!! I have very noticeable acne scars and am starting to see lines on my forehead and around my eyes. Even though I should have known that this was way too strong for me, I used it anyway. At first, it really helped deal with the flakies. Also, because I didnīt notice any stinging or itching, I thought I could handle it and started using it evedy day. Huge mistake - my skin now looks almost burned, you can see the red patches exactly where I applied the stuff. Itīs now been 8 months since I last used it, and the red irritated patches of skin are still there.

Powder -Christian Dior - DiorSkin Compact Makeup
rated 4 of 5
pocari 10/12/2006 8:13:00 AM

This is the only makeup that I use everyday. 201 linen is a very good match for my light skin with yellow undertones. It just takes a few minutes to put on - I use a brush (Paulaīs Choice) to apply, and touch up with a sponge. It does a good job of concealing the red spots around my nose and cheeks, yet looks completely natural, and not at all powdery. I really canīt tell that I am wearing makeup with this on. Also havenīt suffered any breakouts with this and I have sensitive skin. Will most likely repurchase.

Sunscreen -Bioderma - Photoderm MAX Lait SPF 50 PPD 35
rated 4 of 5
pocari 6/21/2006 2:02:00 PM

Overall, Iīm very happy with this product - it doesnīt irritate my skin, thereīs no scent and it spreads easily. This is one of the few Euro SSs labeled "lait" (lotion), which is accurate - normally this means a thick, dense paste. Considering that this has such a high PPD, itīs amazing that itīs less greasy, shiny and sticky than other SSs with lower PPDs. But since I have combo skin, this still becomes shiny and greasy on me as the day goes on. Maybe the monistat will help with this. For a high PPD sunscreen, this is HG for me. For winter, I will continue with my LRP Hydraphase.

Liquid -Christian Dior - Diorskin Fluid
rated 4 of 5
pocari 5/7/2006 11:53:00 AM

The first time I bought this, I couldnīt use it because I had flaky skin, and this makes flakes look 100x worse. But since then Iīve been using Diacneal, and my skin is much smoother now. I tried this again and my skin looked flawless and air-brushed. I kept looking into the mirror because I couldnīt believe it. It does a good job of covering up acne scars and redness, without looking like a mask. It holds up well throughout the day, is very easy to apply (I just use my fingers) and I can handle the fragrance. If you have fair Asian skin with yellow undertones, I would highly recommend this. Linen 201 is a perfect match for me, one of the few shades I can find that works for me.

Lotions/ Creams -Avene - Trixera Emollient Cream
rated 2 of 5
pocari 4/26/2006 5:32:00 AM

Highly recommend this cream for very dry, irritated and senstive skin, but for night time use only! I canīt use this cream during the day even though it has a light texture, it looks very greasy when applied to the face. Very economical - only 19 euros for a huge 400 ml bottle. UPDATE: Broke me out. I moved on to another cream, Hydrance Optimale Riche, with better results, but a lot more expensive!

Sunscreen -Clinique - Super City Block SPF 25
rated 1 of 5
pocari 4/26/2006 5:21:00 AM

I used City Block spf 15 for a few years and decided to buy this one as I was moving to a sunnier climate. Although I was applying a generous amount on a daily basis, I noticed that I was starting to tan anyway. After reading the sunscreen FAQ and sunscreens notepads (thanks MUAers!!), turns out that titanium dioxide (the only active ingredient in SCB) does NOT provide effective protection against UVA. The best ones are Meroxyl and Tinosorb, not available in the US. So I am now on the hunt for a good Euro high PPD sunscreen. Itīs too bad as the tint helped to cover the redness in my skin and also stayed matte all day.
