This is my holy grail taupe eyeshadow. I love it so much! The buttery smooth texture and pigmentation are outstanding. It blends like a dream. I use Laura Mercier Buttercream, then Topaz, then top it off with Bobbi Brown Black Plum. It's one of my favorite every day, neutral looks. Topaz is perfect because it's not too warm. Although I have yellow undertones, I look better in cooler eyeshadows. Warm eyeshadows make me look jaundiced. I have never in my life bought a back up, but will with this!
I am so excited about discovering this foundation, thanks for MUA! My current holy grail is Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. However, I wanted to find something cheaper to alternate with Luminous Silk since it is so expensive. I am so happy to say that I like this just as much! This is one of the best foundations I have ever tried. It performs better than most high end foundations and I've tried them all! I have dry, flakey skin but you would never know with this on. The texture is creamy, but looks and feels extremely light on the face, yet covers magnificiently. I just look like I have great, radiant skin with this on, not great makeup. It also lasts all day on me without oxidizing or fading. I still can't believe I found a holy grail foundation for only $12 at CVS! I am a high end makeup junkie and never thought I'd be able to find something like this at the drugstore. This is a hidden jewel that I hope they never discontinue.
Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Metallic Eye Shadow in Cognac

This is one of my favorite shadows by BB. The color is very unique, a brown with red in it. It is also highly pigmented and lasts and lasts. I love this so much, I've worn it every day for the past 3 weeks! I have extremely yellow toned skin and generally do not like shadows that are too warm as they make my skin look dull. This however, is perfect!
I have to say, the quality of GA blushes is really impressive. I think I prefer this over Chanel Joues Contraste blushes, which I also love. #2 is very subtle on my NC20 complexion, but still manages to impart a radiant glow. This is the perfect blush to wear when you want a natural, peachy, glowy look. If you like Chanel JC's, I highly recommend checking these out! #2 and #10 are standouts.
A GA makeup artist visiting at Saks introduced me to this foundation. He used the GA blender brush to apply this to my face. I was skeptical at first because most luminous foundations just look oily on me. To my surprise, I fell in love with it immediately! I feel like the luminous qualities of this foundation make me look several years younger. I have dry skin, so this lasted all day on me. The color also stayed true. I can see why this is an award winning formula. $59 for 1 ounce is more than I like to pay for a foundation, however this is the one time I feel like it's worth it! LSF is better than any high end foundation I've tried. Most high end foundations (Chanel, Dior) aren't yellow enough for me, but GA is spot on! Turns out the GA MUA recommended the wrong color for me. He recommended 6 for me, which was way too dark! I am NC20 in MAC terms. I went back and exchanged it for a 4 and it's perfect!
This foundation is great for those with oily or normal skin. I have dry skin and this dried it out even more since it contains alcohol. The color selection also leans on the pink side. I am NC20 in MAC terms and both B10 and B20 were too peachy pink for me. The coverage is on the lighter side of medium. I would have rated this a 4 if not for the color selection. Overall, this is a good foundation for those who are not dry needing light/medium coverage.
Liquid -Rimmel - Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation

This is an excellent drugstore foundation! I tend to wear/buy only high end foundations because of the color match, but decided to try this one based on all the great reviews on MUA. I have to say, this product is definitely on par w/ a lot of high end foundations! Coverage is on the lighter side of medium with a very light texture. The scent is light and fresh. Best part of all is that I was able to find an exact color match in Ivory for my NC15-20 coloring! I love this and will continue using this in rotation with my other foundations. Best drugstore discovery in years!
My skin has gotten to be extremely dry in my late 30's and finding a foundation that does not emphasize flakes has been quite a challenge. I decided to try Pro Lumiere, not expecting much, and have fallen in love with it. I get wonderful medium coverage that looks like my skin, only better. The texture is on the thicker side so I was surprised how natural this looked. I am NC20 and have the color nude. However, I think it may be just a tad too dark. I prefer this over Chanel's Vitalumiere for my dry skin.
Highlighters -Christian Dior - Shimmer Powder 002 Amber Diamond, Spring 08

This highlighter is gorgeous and a little goes a long way. I'm able to achieve a nice, refined, glowy sheen that isn't over the top, but just pretty. I've tried highlighters from Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Benefit, NARS, but none compare to this. Dior is the winner. Packaging is lovely as always and you get a generous amount of product. One compact should last for years.
I had been using YSL Touch Eclat for the past 10 years, but will never go back now that I've discovered this! I have Skinflash in Candlelight and it is so much more flattering on me (NC20). I also find this to be much more pigmented than Touch Eclat and wears longer. It's made a huge difference in my makeup. Texture is nice and does not cake. I love this product. My only complaint is you get much less product w/ Skinflash (.05oz) compared to YSL (.1oz).
I am always looking for lipsticks and glosses that tone down my pigmented lips. Turkish Delight does just that. I love that I can wear this alone or over l/s. A lot of light colors wash me out (NC20), but this one just looks fresh and pretty. Lasting power isn't long since it isn't a sticky gloss, but it feels moisturizing and comfortable on the lips.
Loose Powders -Laura Mercier - translucent loose powder
playsomevinyl 2/25/2011 3:35:00 PM
This is my holy grail loose powder. I love it! I have dry skin and this powder does not highlight any dry spots. It sets my makeup perfectly and gives a soft glow, as if my skin was airbrushed. I also have this in compact form to keep in my bag for travel/touch-ups. The texture is light, finely milled, and exceptional in quality. I apply this using a puff instead of a brush.
Simple, classic, beautiful. This is the only sheer nude polish I am able to apply without streaking. I love this formula! I've tried countless nude/pink polishes and this by far stands out as the winner as far as application and wear.
Eye Shadow -Christian Dior - Iridescent Quint -Petal Shine 809
playsomevinyl 2/19/2011 7:59:00 PM
I hesitated to buy this quint because Dior shadows tend to be hit or miss. This one however, is perfection! All the colors go well together. It's rare that I use all the colors that come in a palette. The texture is smooth and application is a dream. The colors have a sophisticated sheen to them and stay true all day long, no creasing. The is one of my favorites by far and I reach for this several times a week. My 2nd favorite quint by Dior is Stylish move.
I like this foundation, but don't love it. The formula is creamy, medium coverage, and blends well. I have dry skin and it does not seem to exacerbate my dry spots. However, unless I set it with powder I look oily with this on. I wore this with a hydrating primer and heavy moisturizer and it lasted all day. Color selection could be better.
