Styling Products -John Frieda - Frizz-Ease Hair Serum Thermal Protection Formula
pjw1209 3/27/2012 8:50:00 PM
In my opinion, John Frieda has the best drugstore hair products. I have tried and continue to use many of their products, with the exception of the Brunette Shampoo/Conditioners. I don't remember purchasing the Frizz Ease Serum, but it's turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I have hair extensions, and this serum takes away all of my frizz, makes my hair silky smooth, and adds tons of shine. From the moment I apply the serum, it soaks right into my hair. I only need one squirt, and I can comb through my wet or dry hair easily. For the amount of product you receive, I think this product is expensive, but much cheaper than purchasing BioSilk, which is what I used on my hair previously. I will definitely purchase this product again...

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil
pjw1209 3/27/2012 8:37:00 PM
My new lip balm addiction is Burt's Bees Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil. I've been going through a tube a week, and it's starting to get expensive ~ I love the scent, and the feel on my lips. I live in a warm weather climate, so I cannot comment on whether this will help with chapped, dry lips, but it works well to keep my lips hydrated. I've been wearing this under my lipstick, and I mix it with my other favorite, discontinued lip balm, L'oreal HIP Jelly Balm. Last but not least, a tube of this lip balm fell on the floor, and I caught my little poodle eating a tube. She wouldn't let me take it away from her, and she looked happy and was licking her lips. Now, every time I use this lip balm, she climbs all over me trying to kiss me.

Skincare - Face -St. Ives - Scrub Free Exfoliating Pads
pjw1209 3/27/2012 8:23:00 PM
The St. Ives Scrub Free Exfoliating Pads are excellent. I stumbled upon these while on drugstore.com, and I am pleasantly surprised at how much I like this product. The pads smell wonderful with a very fruity, pleasing scent. There is plenty of liquid on the pad, and I ended up being able to use it on my neck and chest. They leave my skin feeling very refreshed. According to the package, I was supposed to see great results after one week. The one thing I did notice is the redness on my cheeks has decreased. The pads supposedly contain AHA, but I couldn't find it on the list of ingredients. Also, I've been using the Scrub Free Pad in the morning, along with my AHA 12% Souffle in the evenings, and I have not had any irritation. I am happy to say that these pads are now part of my beauty regime.

Makeup Brushes -Revlon - Blush Brush
pjw1209 3/27/2012 8:12:00 PM
This purchase was a mistake ~ I've been on a continuous search for the perfect blush brush, and I decided to try the new red and black Revlon brushes. The brush arrived in a very thick plastic cover, which was the best thing about the brush. The handle on this brush is short, and it looks like a travel brush. When I applied my blush, the brush shed immediately, and it's not soft at all. I'll end up putting this in my purse for quick touch-ups, and I won't buy this brush again...

Makeup Brushes -Revlon - Covered Lip Brush
pjw1209 3/27/2012 8:08:00 PM
This is an ultra soft lip brush from Revlon. It has a flat, tapered shape for easy application, and the handle fits on the brush, so the cover doubles as an elongated handle. The new brushes are red and black in color, and they look more expensive than they really are. I'll definitely purchase this brush again...

Gels/Soaps -The Body Shop - Candied Ginger Soap
pjw1209 2/21/2012 10:08:00 PM
I absolutely love the Candied Ginger scent. To me, it smells very similar to Origins Ginger w/out breaking the bank. I gobbled up all of the Candied Ginger products after the holidays. I paid a buck each for the soaps, so even if I didn't like the scent, I knew I could give them away as stocking stuffers. Turns out, I love the soap. The scent is divine and it's long lasting. This soap has granules that exfoliate your skin. It's one of my new favorites...

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Creamsicle
pjw1209 2/21/2012 9:08:00 PM
This is a peachy nude, but do not apply too much. If you do, most of it will congeal on your lower lips. To me, there is nothing special about this color. I won't even use it for a quick sweep of color. I've tried about six or eight lip butters, and the two best colors are Pink Truffle, Fig Jam and Red Velvet. All of the others including Creamsicle are not worth the money.

Lips -Revlon - Color Burst lip butter - Cotton Candy
pjw1209 2/21/2012 8:46:00 PM
I bought this color based on a review. Someone mentioned that this was a "universal" pink and would go well with any skin tone. I have trouble wearing pinks, and should have know this one was going to be too cool. The good thing is that it provides just a small amount of color. I mixed it with Peach Parfait, which made it workable on my yellow, orange skin tone. I will not buy this color again...

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Creme Brulee
pjw1209 2/21/2012 8:42:00 PM
I've never been a huge fan of nude lipsticks, and I don't think any of them look particularly flattering on anyone, but a teenager. I purchased this color based on a pretty persuasive review, but I am not impressed. This lip butter provides a small amount of color. Just enough sheen to feel like you are wearing a lip balm. If you apply too much, the color will settle in your lower lips, which looks really weird. I will put this lip butter in the top of my desk drawer, and use it when I need some lip conditioning and I do not have a mirror. I won't buy this color again.

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorBurst Lip Butter - Brown Sugar
pjw1209 2/21/2012 8:36:00 PM
Brown Sugar looks good on me ~ it's the perfect color for my skin tone. However, it has a frosty sheen and it looks very dated. It reminds me of brown lipstick from the 90's, which I didn't wear then, and won't wear now. I don't like to waste cosmetics/lipstick colors that I don't like, so I tried to use this with other lip butter colors. It works perfect to tone down pinks (Strawberry Shortcake), and I like it to add a little bit of color to Creme Brulee. Sad to say, but I won't buy this shade again...

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Candied Ginger Hand Cream
pjw1209 1/15/2012 3:39:00 AM
I wasn't sure if I was going to like this scent. Before I bought a body butter, I decided to buy a hand cream instead. Well, I was pleasantly surprised ~ this scent is fabulous, and it smells exactly like Origins Ginger. The hand cream is thick, creamy, moisturizing, and it smells wonderful. I paid $3.00 for the tube, and I think the regular retail is $8 or $10. I would never pay full price for a 3 oz tube of hand cream. The hand cream is sold out, so I bought every SKU available in this scent...

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Body Butter
pjw1209 1/15/2012 2:54:00 AM
I have been using TBS products since they landed in the US, in the early nineties. After all these years, they are still my favorite bath products. Since L'oreal purchased the company, TBS has become very promotional, which is a good thing, because I always thought their products were overpriced. I have used many different scents on and off over the years, and here's a rundown of my favorite and not so favorite scents: Candied Ginger: Seasonal ~ It's my new favorite and I absolutely love the scent. IMO, it's a dead ringer for Origins Ginger. I paid $3.00 for the body butter, so I ordered five of them. I ordered multiples of every SKU in this scent. It may become my new favorite, bumping Satsuma and Moringa further down the list. I wish this was offered all year long. Cranberry Joy: Seasonal ~ I purchased this on sale, and I've been using it everyday since Christmas. I only bought two, one large and one small. It's light and fruity, but not sickening sweet. I don't think it smells like cranberries, but it's a nice scent for this time of year. Satsuma: Recently discovered; now it's a new favorite ~ Amazing citrus scent that I use year round. The smell lasts at least for hours, and the butter is super creamy. Love to apply this at bedtime, after a long, hot, bath. Moringa: This was my favorite ~ Bumped by Satsuma ~ Smells like fresh, tropical flowers. By far the best moisturizer of all of the scents I have tried, and it's my winter favorite. Wild Cherry: Discontinued, but I stockpiled this scent. It's light and fruity cherry scent, and it's my summertime favorite~ I wish it was still available, I ran out of soap. Aloe: My DH's favorite moisturizer. No scent, so it's the perfect body butter for a man. Mango: Way too sweet for my taste ~ One of the very few TBS scents that I do not like. Coconut: Weakest scent of them all ~ I am not a fan of coconut, and I find myself never using this, and I don't miss it. Raspberry: Offered infrequently. I haven't seen it on the website since Dec'10. Nice, light fruity scent ~ best for summer due to the light consistency ~ very similar to Wild Cherry. Almond: Nutty, and luxurious, but it's not a scent that I will repurchase~ I stock up twice a year. The end of the year sale is the best. They offer discounts galore, a wide selection and I always order enough product to to hold me over until next fall. If I run out mid year, there is always a great sale in Jul/Aug. One final wish is for TBS to offer a melon scent ~ this is definitely a missed opportunity.

Skincare - Body -The Body Shop - Cranberry Joy Shower, Scrub & Moisture Collection
pjw1209 1/15/2012 2:14:00 AM
A great gift set that I purchased for 70% off for myself. The products came in a red, octagonal tin, which I am saving to use for Christmas cookies next year. The gift included: Cranberry Joy Shower, Cranberry Joy Body Butter, Cranberry Joy Body Scrub, and the Cranberry Joy Soap. The body butter and scrub were the small sizes, and the shower gel, and soap were full sized. I paid $7.50 so this was a steal. TBS always has the best after Christmas sales....

Gels/Soaps -The Body Shop - Cranberry Joy Soap
pjw1209 1/15/2012 2:06:00 AM
Love this soap! It smells so nice, and it has tons of lather. I recently purchased all of the Cranberry Joy products ~ TBS had an outstanding sale, and I couldn't pass up paying 80 cents for a bar of soap. I usually stock pile the seasonal scents, but this year I chose to do so with the Candied Ginger. I still love everything about the Cranberry Joy soap and all of it's sister products. I will definitely buy this soap again ~ as long as they don't change the formula...

Lotions/ Creams -The Body Shop - Cranberry Joy Hand Cream
pjw1209 1/15/2012 1:54:00 AM
I am obsessive about putting lotion on my hands, especially after I wash them. I cannot stand the feeling of dry hands, and I've been using tons of lotion on my hands for years, and it's really paid off. As much as I love hand lotion, I have never carried a tube in my purse. So, when the Cranberry Joy Hand Cream went on sale at TBS for $2.00, I couldn't pass up the chance. The packaging is small, and I would never pay full price for this product, because based on the size of the tube, this is way overpriced. The best part is the cream is fantastic ~ it smells wonderful, it's very thick, creamy and best of all, it's moisturizing. I will continue to buy these little tubes of TBS hand creams as long as they are on sale...
