Self Tanners -L'Oreal - Sublime Bronze Gelee in medium deep
rated 4 of 5

so far i'm loving this one. i'm naturally fair-light skin and this one gives me a good glow like i've been to a tropical island. you do have to scrub like crazy around your fingers but overall the effect is what i wanted. this doesn't build up too much around knees & elbows either. very light & easy to use. takes a looong time to dry so beware of that. good product & i will probably re-purchase.

Self Tanners -Neutrogena - Self Tanning Spray
rated 4 of 5
pixiGirl 7/10/2006 11:28:00 AM

i finnaly stopped using a tanning bed and baking in the sun alltogether this year. yea for me...i won't become an old leather boot. since then, i've tried many self tanners. this one is sort of so-so to me. i got it because of the ease of application. great! no rubbing (should be easier on my hands), fast drying (i could use it in the morning on days i'm running a little late for work) and it can be sprayed upside down (good for those hard to reach spots). first: the no rubbing. bs. yea, you can just spray and go however you are going to have streaks. i tried 3 cans of this stuff just to make sure my application was right. i sprayed evenly, kept it moving & kept it sheer. no matter what, there was always some sort of streak somewhere. perhaps i was using a formula that was a tad too dark for me, but i've been using other formulas that are dark & the majority were good results (depending on the brand, lotion/gel/spray...whatever) & i will continue to use a darker formula...i wanted to be tan not have a slight glow. so that defeats the whole purpose of having the no-rub spray...still have to rub and scrub your hands like crazy afterwards. fast drying and upside down spraying are both good. i probabaly won't purchase it again because of the rubbing...i'll just get a lotion or gel that i allready know i have to rub & scrub and be done with it.

Conditioner -Jessicurl - Jessicurl - Too Shea Extra Moisturizing Conditioner
rated 5 of 5

i don't use this cond. every day. it's way too much for my fine hair. i have curly hair, and a lot of it but for an every day treatment, this is too much moisture. i do love it for a deep treatment. i typically use it when i do a weekly clarifying treatment and love it.

Conditioner -Jessicurl - Weekly Deep Conditioning Treatment
rated 4 of 5
pixiGirl 8/23/2005 10:39:00 AM

if i had coarser or more damaged hair, i would love this. i have a lot of hair but it is fine and pretty healthy. i tried a sample of it and although it did leave my hair softer, it also left it over moisturized and way too limp. i prefer to use the too shea as a deep conditioning treatment.

Conditioner -Jessicurl - Aloeba Daily Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
pixiGirl 8/23/2005 10:37:00 AM

my daily conditioner and my hg! i love this stuff. my hair is getting to be very healthy so i don't need a lot of extra conditioning, but i love this. leaves my hair soft, tangle free and moisturized. i have also used a small amount of it as a leave in and had really good results.

Styling Products -Jessicurl - Rockin Ringlets
rated 5 of 5
pixiGirl 8/23/2005 10:34:00 AM

i use this mixed with a small amount of the confident coils. amazing results. i'm not going to rate the confident coils, instead i'll just put it all in here. you have to sort of find your own amount to use with both of these products and some people may not need both, just one or the other. after a shower, i rake a quater size puddle of rr w/ a dime size of ccss through my hair then scrunch it in. then scrunch the water out with a microfiber towel. after that i use another puddle mixture of the two solutions and scrunch that through (depending on your hair length, you may need more also like i said, it takes a few times to figure out how much of it your hair actually needs). after that i either arange my hair where i want it and let it dry or diffuse and scrunch. if i let it dry i lightly scrunch every so often as it dries. when it's fully dry, i flip my head over and scrunch out any crunchiness. gives my hair nice spirals/waves and ringlets. this is my hg haircare line so i will be buying again.

Self Tanners -Jergens - Natural Glow
rated 5 of 5
pixiGirl 8/23/2005 10:27:00 AM

i got the light color (may get the darker one when i run out) and love it!! it did exactly what it claimed to. no streaks (i was only slightly carefull when i applied it...much less so than with regular sunless creams) and a good color. i wasn't expecting a deep tan that looked like i just got back from bermuda, just a glow so that i didn't scare people with bright white legs. i do let it dry for about 30 min. before dressing and there is a scent to it (but most self tanners have a scent to them). i use it on my face also with no problem (about an hour later i will put face moisturizer on over it if i need it, i don't need extra on my legs). it worked well on my face with no streaks or breakouts, however it could break some people out. overall a great product that adds a glow (with a slight shimmer...not overwhelming) that's easy to use.will be buying again.

Loose Powders -Coty - Airspun face powder
rated 4 of 5
pixiGirl 8/23/2005 10:18:00 AM

this is a staple for me. i have other powders (including loose) that i use and love but if i'm trying not to spend so much (or just need to grab something from the drugstore) then i always go back to this. very light, sheer powder and old fashioned retro styled. i always use a big brush with it and swirl it around in the lid a bit so i don't have too much on the brush. lasts most all of the day (i live in ga and the hummidity is terrible so during hotter months i do reaply it). it can get messy though. when i open a new one, i do not pull all of the plastic off. instead get a pin or something and poke a few holes in the plastic so you can sort of shake the powder out.

Eye Shadow -Bourjois - Suivez mon Regard - Multi Shimmer Loose Eye Shadow
rated 5 of 5
pixiGirl 8/23/2005 10:12:00 AM

i guess this is a love it or hate product. personally i love it. the packaging didn't bother me. i pick it up, shack it a little, unscrew it, grab the brush and tap it off a bit before pulling it all the way out. no mess at all. i use it a little at time depending on the look i want. layering it is the trick for me. if i was to try to put on a whole bunch of this at one time, sure it would be all over my cheeks. however if you are layering a little at a time, you can controll it better and put the shimmer where you want it to go and only where you want it to go. lasts all day too.

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - Kitten
rated 4 of 5
pixiGirl 8/23/2005 9:57:00 AM

i bought this on a whim while on vacation in las vegas. i tested all of the kitten powders and decided to go with this one as my first buy (i will probably buy the other kitten powders also). the bronzy color looks really good on tanned skin (although it also looked awesome on my friend who is pale...gave her just a slight shimmer). i love the cute kitten box packaging and actually like it that the powder is inside the puff (keeps the mess way way down). i couldn't really smell the scent that was supposedly there but that wasn't really the point of me buying it. i used it lightly during the day and a bit heavier at night. good results with both applications and had compliments from dh with it.

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Lemon Aid
rated 1 of 5
pixiGirl 8/23/2005 9:51:00 AM

i really wanted to like this. the pictures from benefit were so decieving to me. maybe it works for some people, but not for me. i saw that someone had developed a sort of system for using it with all these steps...well that's just too much work for me and (for me) i would feel like i had too much stuff caked on under my eyes. i got it for dark under eye circles (they are there no matter what...nice thing that i inherited). i dotted it on under my eyes (over moisturizer and letting that soak in a bit first) then blended the edges good. added some foundation to blend and looked way too yellow. i several different ways of applying it and it never looked right on me. it brought out lines that normally you can't even notice. it actually accented the circles. it got cakey during the day (without using any powder over it). i know there are some good things from benefit but this is definately not one of them.

Styling Products -Aussie - Tizz No Frizz Gel
rated 3 of 5
pixiGirl 8/23/2005 9:35:00 AM

this gel worked pretty good for me. i am on the curly girl routine (no poo, cone free or water soluble cones) so there are a limited number of drugstore products that i will use as it is. normally i prefer to use jessicurl hair products but i started out using the tizz no frizz by itself. it's still in my cabinet and i will stay stocked up on it. i use it when i'm starting to run low on the jessicurl and wanting to get a few extra uses out of the jc stuff. by itself: the tizz has a flexible hold with just a little crunchiness to it (no big deal, i just scrunch it out when my hair is all the way dry). after my shower i would add a tiny amount of leave in conditioner (about nickle sized for my chin length hair) and scrunch with a microfiber towel. then about a half doller amount of the tizz. i just scrunch it in and arrange my hair where i want it then let it dry(ok, sometimes i diffuse but the effect is still the same). my curls have a decent curl pattern to them with this. much better than any other drugstore brands i have tried. when i add it to the jc products (ccss raked through soaking hair then scrunched through. then the microfiber towel scrunching, then the tizz mixed with the rr and scrunched in). i do get more curls but with a bit stronger hold than with the jc alone.

Fragrances -Prada - Prada Beauty Eau de Parfum
rated 5 of 5
pixiGirl 12/27/2004 6:38:00 PM

i got this as a christmas gift and loved it when i unwrapped it. i'm not certain what the scent actually is (other reviews below me have that covered though) but when i first sprayed it, i loved it even more. later that evening (when i thought i couldn't smell it anymore) we went to dh's family's house for dinner...everyone that got near me asked what i was wearing and complemented my perfume. we went shopping the day after christmas and again, ladies that were very close to me asked about the perfume. honestly i have never gotten as many compliments on scents as i have with this one. for now, this is THE perfume for me.
