Polishes -China Glaze - Turned Up Turquoise 849237
rated 4 of 5
pinknika 5/15/2013 2:54:00 PM

UPDATE: I am updating my review because I wore it out all weekend and I got soo many compliments! The girls I work with at the office really liked it, random strangers at this fair I attended this weekend loved it, there was even a vendor who I came back to just to purchase something and he was like oh she's back! The one with the turquoise nail polish. lol. So i gave this an extra lippie, but still deducting 1 because it chips like crazy. I though I had myself protected as I used a no chip base coat and top coat for this, but nope didn't help. Hey China Glaze, you really should re-launch this product and reformulate it NOT MATTE. Yes I am one of those who didn't do their research when buying polish. Ulta was having a buy 2 get 1 free offer for China Glaze and I picked the colors that to me, were summery...who knew that the colors on the display were going to be different finishes... Nope, didn't expect it to dry matte and didn't expect it to be soo green! I mean its really not turquoise, really its more like a brighter green. I wish I would have bought for Audrey or Refresh-mint, I know that those are a different color & doesn't compare but I would have been happy with those intead of this harsh green.

BB Cream -Tarte - BB tinted treatment 12-hour primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 sunscreen
rated 1 of 5
pinknika 5/13/2013 12:43:00 PM

I hate to wreck all the great reviews, but this stuff didn't work for me at all. I ordered light which is what I wore in the tarte 12 hour amazonion clay foundation with no problems, this color however seems a tad more orangy and wasn't exactly light. It accentuated my pores, fine lines and clung hard to the dry patches I didn't know I had. It seemed to fade fast after 6 hours, and all I saw in the mirror was an oily, dry patchy and parched mess (if that makes sense). I was hoping this would be amazing, the models on QVC sure looked it, but nope. Yes it goes on smooth and feels sorta velvety but after it's set, it looks pretty cakey and it oxidized on me. I used a tiny amount and even used it together with the brush that came with it. Oh well.

Mascara -Physicians Formula - Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Mascara
rated 4 of 5
pinknika 5/9/2013 12:30:00 PM

This mascara is interesting. The formula is very different from any others I've tried. It lasts really long, you know other mascaras by the end of the day, the tips of your lashes are not as long? This one doesn't do that, it dries to almost a very matte finish and the definition is really great. I think tho, its not for dramatic looking lashes as since it dries really fast, its hard to apply a lot to get a really dramatic effect, the brush is nice and it separates each lash for me, making a very feathery lash look, similar to the buxom mascara I've used. And no clumps! Also not experiencing any flakes. I'm scared though because it dries so fast, am I going to trash it in a few weeks? Usually most new out of the package mascaras are really wet, a couple of weeks go by and the consistency is better, then it dries out in 2 months, I'm worried this mascara might dry up given its already pretty dry after I took it out of the package. I will update if this happens. Overall, nice mascara for day/work look.

Treatments -Unlisted Brand - Unlisted Brand - Tomato ketchup
rated 5 of 5
pinknika 5/8/2013 1:20:00 PM

LMAO. I completely thought I was going to have to add this to the site because I was for sure that NOBODY would review ketchup, but here I am and there are 2 reviews!! So I am NOT crazy! LOL. Anyways, yeah long story, I got highlights at a salon from someone who I don't regularly go to because my stylist was out sick. I decided to proceed with this new girl and she did an ok job but my hair was a little brassy and orangy and the highlights were too chunky. So I decide to tone it using the Wella White Lady toner, I think its T18 from Sallys, its violet based so I thought it would tone my hair. Well my blonde came out super super ashy, and I guess my lowlight was ashy too because it came out greyish-green. I was like ahh noooo. SO I researched and only a couple sites mentioned ketchup, so I tried last night. I was hesitant to do so because ketchup is precious in my house and I hated to waste it on my hair, but I did anyway and I had to put a lot on, I plastic wrapped my hair and left it on for an hour. I rinsed out and shampooed and conditioned and to my surprise no more ashiness, the blonde is defintley a little more goldeny. YAY. I couldn't be happier. Not sure if its going to last, so I'll probably end up buying more ketchup strictly for my hair. Anyways, must try for anyone with greenish grayish hair!!

Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Passion fruit (Maracuja) oil
rated 3 of 5
pinknika 5/7/2013 1:41:00 PM

I have used maracuja oil for 2 weeks now, I got mine from my natural bliss. I haven't tried any other maracuja oil. I think this oil smells disgusting, I contacted them to see if I got a bad batch or something but all they said was they were sorry I didn't like the smell. The smell faded the next morning which was good, but the craziest part was the way my skin looked the very next day, plumped up and bright, I could even feel it on my pillow as I pressed my cheek against it, I thought wow this is amazing!!! Well, those results were probably a fluke because after that day, my skin went back to its original state, dry, deflated and dull. And since I have been using it, I do see little tiny breakouts on my cheek every other day or so. I am not sure if this is for acne prone skin but a lot of people say its healed their acne. Overall, I'm on the fence, I most likely will not repurchase this brand, but try maybe the Tarte brand, Oca-brazil and Providencia Beauty. I want those first day results back!!!

Lips -L'Oreal - Colour Riche Balm
rated 3 of 5
pinknika 5/1/2013 1:43:00 PM

I have to agree with some reviews, this is basically very lightly tinted chapstick. I do like chapstick and I do like tinted balms but wanted just a teeny bit more color payoff. Revlon lip butters have too much of a color payoff for me and Maybelline color whispers just dry out my lips. To be fair, I do have darker lips, very medium pink. I think this would suit someone with very fair lips. I like this idea but, if I wanted to buy chapstick, I would, and it won't cost me $8.

Blush -Jordana - Blush
rated 2 of 5
pinknika 4/29/2013 2:28:00 PM

Not sure why all the rave reviews. I needed blush for some time now and instead of splurging on tarte or nars or itcosmetics, I decided to go the cheap route. I got this for 4/$5, which means $1.25 each. I got touch of pink, rouge, coral sandy beach and rose silk. I am not sure if it's my mineral makeup or what, but these do not last at all. Yes, they're pigmented but in a weird dry powdery way and I know if you slide your finger and swatch it on your arm, it shows up, but on a blush brush, it doesn't apply evenly and in a few hours, its dissapeared. So sad, but you get what you pay for I guess. I still am going to try their mascara and lip products, but if those suck too I'm done with Jordana.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Whisper
rated 2 of 5
pinknika 4/29/2013 1:13:00 PM

ehhhh....I'm not sure if it's too early in the game to report but I just don't see the hype. I went crazy and decided to try every "balm" out there, although not classified as a balm, it's trying to follow the lip balm/butter trend. I bought these in coral ambition and pin up peach, I wore pin up peach yesterday and it was very pink and not very peachy. I had to reapply it on several occasions and when I couldn't, (I was shooting a short film) it had made my lips very dry and tight. I don't know, compared to Revlon's lip butters, which is pretty moisturizing, this stuff kinda blows. I will update if things change, maybe it's different colors? And I think the stick itself is really skinny and you don't get a lot of product.

Cleansers -Unlisted Brand - Orjene Organics CoQ10 OliveVitale Foaming Face Wash
rated 5 of 5
pinknika 4/25/2013 4:16:00 PM

It might be too early to review this as I only got this 3 days ago...but I really love this cleanser!! It's a foam pump dispenser but the foam that comes out isn't that weird hand soap foam, it actually creates a nice rich and creamy lather when you start applying it in circular motions. The scent is pretty non existent, definatley soapy but does not overwhelm. It takes off your makeup like a dream, mascara, eyeliner, I use it over my eyes and no problems, its pretty gentle, although I do feel a tiny tiny amount of tightness long after I patted my face with a towel, but if you use moisturizer after, your good! Love this, will report if anything adverse happens down the road.

Crème -Graftobian - High-Definition Glamour Color Creme Foundation
rated 3 of 5
pinknika 4/23/2013 2:29:00 PM

I initially liked this, I thought the coverage was great, a little goes a very long way and the color match (I chose a little too light, bombshell) could have been better had I tried the color match service from camera ready cosmetics. What I didn't like is the way it asscentuates dry skin and flakes which was non existent apparently the first time I tried it, but on the next couple of times, my pores looked huge, my skin was flaked out and it was not good. I don't think it's matte enough too, I mean its matte ish but it has no oil control and even with powder on, it transfers big time. Even though its creamy and can be gorgeous, I think for people with oily skin like mine, it's just not a good fit. I've purchased several other foundations from camera ready cosmetics and I plan to review those as well.

My boyfriend and I live together, I spied this in the shower and yes I'm one of those people who uses things that's not theirs, (just ask my sister lol) and I have to say that this is the best scrub I've used! I love the cool tingly feeling and it makes my face sooo smooth. I'm gonna buy some for myself....and hide it lol.

Foundations -Unlisted Brand - Lucy Minerals Foundation
rated 4 of 5
pinknika 4/3/2013 1:08:00 PM

I am not new to the mineral makeup scene, as I tried many and I have a long standing allegiance to Silk Naturals as I really like their makeup and service. I really bought this because I saw it as a high rating on the MUA top picks tab, and although I was taking a break from mineral makeup as I love liquid more, I thought why not. Anyways, I bought lots of samples which took a while to get to me, over a week. I got all the lighter colors in different formulas: light, pale olive, cream, bisque, light medium, creamy bisque in Orignal, Light, OCS (Oil Control Silica), and OCC (Oil Control Calcium Carbonate). I liked the colors, I think the ones I like the most are light and creamy bisque. As for the formulas: Original-very creamy but it cakes up and accentuates fine lines and dry patches. OCC- very chalky texture, controls oil good enough but the finish seems a little matted and chalky like. OCS- smoother texture not creamy like original but silica controled oil better than the calcium. Lucy Light- I think my favorite, looked most "like skin" on me and wasn't too heavy. The downside is that it has no oil control what so ever and in a couple hours it showed. Overall I probably would repurchase and use this as a "work day" makeup.

Loose Powders -Ben Nye - Bella Luxury Powder: Buff (formerly known as Visage Poudre Luxury Powder)
rated 2 of 5
pinknika 4/2/2013 6:45:00 PM

After all the hype, I am soo disapointed! I got this powder in buff thinking it would work well with my skintone. It's not exactly translucent, it deposits a bit of color. Someone said that they use this to set their concealor under their eyes, how do you do that? Because it makes my eyes look dry and crepey no matter how little I use. I think the most dissapointing this is the ingredients, talc and cornstarch?? Really? Wow, I have abandoned those two ingredients year ago, not only are they bad for you but their performance sucks. I really like It Cosmetics bye bye pores powder and also Silk Naturals oil control blur. No tint, silica based and amazing! I have used both of those under my eyes no prob! I'll be running back to them for sure!

Other -Ben Nye - Final Seal
rated 1 of 5
pinknika 4/2/2013 6:30:00 PM

I am not sure why there are so many good reviews, I have tried this twice now, thinking it was the foundation underneath that was the problem. Nope. I used this over the graftobian hd creme foundation, then over that was the Ben Nye bella luxury powder, then I sprayed my face. It doesn't spritz out evenly or fine at all, there were definatley some large droplets on my face. At first I was in love, my skin looked pretty good, a little shiny and plasticky but kinda glowy. Then hours later, I looked close up in the mirror and to my horror my skin was cracked out like a turtle shell or crackle nail polish, the most obvious was my nose, it was disturbing. I tried to blend it away but it just made it worse. I thought it could have been the ben nye powder because it's got talc in it but nope. Tried this again today, over the cinema secrets foundation. The crackle came hours later but not as noticeable but my face was SHINY and I blotted it and ew, I looked at my tissue and traces of foundation and oil everywhere. I'm not giving up on makeup setting sprays, but this one is horrible. Will try other ones!

Shampoo -Head and Shoulders - Dry Scalp Care with Almond Oil
rated 2 of 5
pinknika 3/21/2013 1:50:00 PM

I get dandruff occasionally, mostly when I stop eating healthy and consuming omega 3's. I bought this because I was desperate and it would take a while for my diet to kick back in. I like how this shampoo makes your hair soft and smooth, I don't care for the scent and I don't like that it doesn't work. I still have flakies and I have been using this everyday for 3 weeks. I am going to start using coconut oil again because I notice if I apply that to my scalp it helps with dandruff, at least for me. I'm not gonna buy another head & shoulders product again.
