Cleansers -Korres - White tea fluid gel cleanser
pikescat 7/14/2009 12:56:00 PM
I have been using this cleanser for a few months, and I'm very happy with it. It's a nice, basic cleanser that removes all my make-up and oil. I used Cetaphil for years, and this is almost like a gentler version of that on my skin. If you are very dry, this will probably be too drying for you. But if you are like me (combo), this is a good basic to check out that has less of the nasty ingredients in so many other cleansers.

Styling Products -Farouk CHI - Chi Silk Infusion
pikescat 7/14/2009 12:54:00 PM
This stuff is AMAZING. I have very fine hair that is intolerant of so many products. Silk Infusion doesn't weigh down my hair at all--it just leaves it softer and, yes, silkier. I apply a couple of drops before I flat iron or when I occasionally blow-dry. I wasn't sure it would work for my hair type, so I bought the smaller $13 bottle to try it out, and it looks like even this bottle will last me awhile.

Tinted Moisturizer -Sue Devitt - Microaquatic Pro-Marine Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30
pikescat 11/11/2008 12:51:00 PM
I just scored this for a mere $6 from the blissworld sale, but I would pay much more for it. This is a pressed tinted moisturizer that feels great on the skin and gives a beautiful, natural finish. While the coverage is sheer, it's fairly buildable; working up to light coverage doesn't make it look cakey. I can usually wear either Quiet and Still or Tanami in SD foundations; the Tanami in this is a perfect match. There is no irritating scent like I find in so many TMs. Since it's in a compact, it's also a great travel or purse option if you don't like to carry/touch up with powder. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Lipstick -Neutrogena - MoistureShine Lip Sheer SPF 20 in Fresh Rose
pikescat 11/11/2008 12:43:00 PM
First of all, don't be fooled by the name--this is a pink rose rather than the usual berry rose. It looks like a creamy pink on my lips. This feels amazing on the lips--lots of color, but very moisturizing too. The staying power is average for your typical moisturizing lippie, but it should last you awhile as there is plenty of product in the tube. The next time Lip Sheers go on sale around here, I will definitely be buying more colors to try.

Pressed Powders -Napoleon Perdis - Camera Finish
pikescat 11/11/2008 12:41:00 PM
I LOVE this powder. This is a matte powder with a bit of coverage that photographs beautifully. Camera Finish really evens out my skintone and doesn't clog my pores or irritiate my skin at all. I also like the sponge that's included--when using it on the go, it really works well. I can even use this under my eyes for a bit of evening out, and it doesn't get crepey. It's a little pricey at $40, but it's definitely my new favorite powder.

Tinted Moisturizer -Tarte - Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Mosturizer (Smooth Operator)
pikescat 11/10/2008 3:28:00 PM
I LOVE this foundation. While I tend to use MMU in the warmer months, my skin has been getting drier and I need something more emollient (but still light) for the cooler months. Tarte SO is definitely it. While most bill SO as very similar to a tinted moisturizer, it's more like the light foundation it calls itself to me. Applied with a brush or sponge and topped with powder, you can achieve a natural, almost flawless look. I'm LM Porcelain, Mac NW15, and I wear this in Facade. I also like its hygenic tube, and the staying power is pretty good. Over a primer, this usually lasts me all day (but I need a touch-up for the night).

Lipstick -Laura Mercier - Lip Kisses - Nude Beach
pikescat 11/10/2008 3:21:00 PM
I think this is one of my new favorite lippies. This slim lipstick is very moisturizing with no cloying scent. The color is not "nude" on me at all, however; it's more like a rosey YLBB. My only complaint is the lasting power--because it's fairly creamy, it tends to disappear quicker than a regular lipstick. But I love the color and the feel, so I will definitely be buying again.

Bronzers -LORAC - Cheek Duo- Hot and Spicy
pikescat 4/26/2008 7:14:00 PM
I love this product because of its shades: the perfect shimmery tan and peach for my PPP skin. The packaging is typical Lorac: nothing exciting, but gets the job done. It comes with a small brush that fits into the lower half of the compact; however, I have only used a fluffy powder brush with it. The one thing I dislike about this bronzer duo: it is toooo pigmented. When using it, I have to blow the excess off the brush and THEN tap it on my hand a bit before I apply it, even when using a very light stroke to pick up the color. Even then, the color can go on streaky, so I have to be very careful about application and blending. Still, the color is gorgeous and long-lasting, so I will definitely be using this bronzer a lot.

Liquid -LORAC - Breakthrough Performance Oil Free Anti-aging with sms complex spf 14
pikescat 4/26/2008 7:09:00 PM
I have been using this foundation for a couple of weeks now, and it is excellent! With a primer, it lasts all day. The coverage is on the light-medium side, but is incredibly buildable. I have been trying to cover up a breakout on my forehead and have been able to put 2-3 layers on with a foundation brush without it looking cakey. It doesn't oxidize on me at all. The finish is very pretty and dewy; however, I get no oil slicks when using this product as long as I top it with a light powder (I have very oily skin). I'm NW15 and the SMS 1 is a great shade for me.

Styling Products -Pureology - Root Lift
pikescat 8/28/2007 9:47:00 PM
This root lifter is amazing. Having very fine and straight hair, I have tried tons of volumizers, both cheap and expensive. While most add voume for a couple of hours, my hair tends to go flat by lunch. With this Root Lift, the volume lasts ALL DAY without my hair feeling crunchy. I don't add it to dry hair, but just spray it right at the roots and blow dry. The price is a little prohibitivefor me (I hate paying $$ for haircare), it's totally worth it. Love it!!

Eye Shadow -mark - Hello Pretty Eyeshadow Duo on Corset-Cake
pikescat 6/13/2006 8:13:00 PM
This is a gorgeous duo that I knew I just had to have when I first saw it in the mark magalog. One of the colors is a very pretty light pink with barely noticeable silver shimmer, perfect as a wash over the entire lid. The other is a deep, shimmery grey that's fantastic used as a liner or in the crease. Both colors are smooth and very easy to blend. Like all the other i mark shadows, their lasting power is what I would call fair. Doesn't disappear, but certainly doesn't last all day and evening on me, even with a base. Still, for the price, mark's eyeshadows are excellent and I only wish these two gorgeous shades were a permanent addition to the line.

Scrubs -MAC - Microfine Refinisher [DISCONTINUED]
pikescat 5/23/2006 4:46:00 PM
I thought I might've found my HG scrub (or, well, any scrub that works on me, lol) in Ponds. and while the Ponds is still pretty good and great for my sensitive, breakout-prone skin, this stuff beats it by a mile. The Microfine Refinisher leaves my face feeling like a baby's butt with NO irritation whatsoever. I've been using this before I put on a mask and moisturizer, and I feel so clean and refreshed afterwards. I just love how my skin looks and feels after using this, definite thumbs up from me.

Cleansers -Purpose - Gentle Cleansing Wash
pikescat 5/23/2006 9:43:00 AM
I'd alwaysdebated between the 2 most "recommended" of the d/s face washes: this or Cetaphil. And I'd always gone with Cetaphil. And while I like Cetaphil for its gentleness, I'm really loving the Purpose even more. It really cleans and face and leaves me with such a refreshed feeling--unlike Cetaphil, which really doesn't seem to be able to take off more than surface dirt/grime. I'm breakout-prone/sensitive, and no complaints at all. The fragrance is very light and underwhelming, and this doesn't bother me at all either. Will definitely continue to rebuy and use this cleanser as my morning cleanser--cheap too!

Brows -mark - Browscara
pikescat 5/10/2006 10:07:00 AM
This stuff is fantastic--I have it in blonde and it's the perfect match for my dark blonde/almost light brown eyebrows. Goes on easily and smoothly and lasts all day. I had been using Mac's brow gel, but this stuff is only $5 and just as good. Gives me the perfect shape and amount of color--I'm even thinking of stockpiling!

Lotions/ Creams -mark - Deluscious body souffle - Marshmallow
pikescat 4/27/2006 9:30:00 AM
Such a sweet looking purple tube that I couldn't resist ordering this--and I've been on the hunt for a true marshmallow scent for a while now. Alas, this is not it. While this is very sweet and dessert-smelling, it is not straight-up marshmallow; it also has very strong notes of vanilla (which tends to weigh down the light marshmallowy scent). Goes on very lightly and non-greasy, and the scent does linger for just a bit. Overall, a great find for those who like very sweet-smelling lotions, but stay away if you're looking for a true marshmallow!
