Foundations -Giorgio Armani - Face Fabric Second Skin Nude Makeup

I love this product so much that I felt compelled to write a review on it. I'm a MAC NW 20 and i use this in 2 (disclaimer that i bought this when i was slightly tanned from a holiday so i picked a slightly 'darker' shade then what a NW20 would be) I never liked foundations or bases or primers or sunscreen because it would always (regardless of what brand i used) end up feeling heavy or oily - and it would inevitably oxidise or 'melt' so it was just a pain, when at the end of a long day, my makeup would not look fresh or in place - but kind of 'tired' and grimy. so i've stuck with just concealor (tons of it because i dont have perfect skin) and loose power for almost all of my makeup wearing life. i have on occasion (especially when on vacation in climates which is alot less humid then it is here in singapore) used the armani LSF - and it worked fine - but when i came back to singapore, the same problem would happen. another issue i've always had - was that i would end up getting clogged pores and breaking out - whenever i tried to use foundation or sunscreen here. i purchased face fabric on a whim - because i was on another 'i think i need some sort of spf on my skin' phase (this has spf 12) - i was fully expecting to discover that it would cause the same issues and that i would have to bin it. BUT - it has now been maybe two months - and i've even bought a backup tube. i LOVE this product. i use it daily now (and cannot imagine what life was like before it) its some sort of a mousse texture - but on application it dries to a powder finish. it is very easy to blend - is near impossible to 'streak' on skin (even though i do my makeup really quickly in the mornings and just squeeze a dollop on finger and just blend it all onto my face with my fingers -- it is very quick and goes on very well and doesnt get patchy etc) It also does not oxidise and it provides a very good canvas for the rest of my makeup to go on and stays put all day (we're talking in excess of 12 hours here!) i actually think it helps my makeup stay on better and look fresher! on good skin days - using this alone is enough ! i would highly recomend this if you wanted a very light foundation or a light/good base to use. but if you need more then sheer coverage then you need to pair it with something else.

Treatments -MD Skincare by Dr. Dennis Gross - All-Over Blemish Solution

i was abit surprised to see the rather low rating given to this product. i've always had problematic skin. i've got combi skin which clogs very easily and i break out quite often (both clogs, whiteheads, normal zits as well as the occasional cyst) due to a variety of factors and this has formed a staple of my routine for the last 3 years at least and has helped a great deal in controlling the situation. i use this together with the daily peels (also from this line) and last year, for about a month, because i was travelling, i used nothing except this and the daily peel packettes and an occasional spot treatment - and my skin was literally clearing up like crazy and was getting to the stage where i could go out without makeup (yes its ridiculous - and when i say nothing, i really mean it, i didnt even have moisturisers or serums to use!) this is a little expensive, and there's alot of product left behind due to the packaging (you just cant squeeze it out and have to cut it up). i wont say that this stops breakouts entirely - now that i'm back from travels, use makeup again and have to deal with all the stresses of work and lack of sleep, i do get the occasional breakout still - but i'd say, this helps 'build the foundation' and when i get the breakouts, i just deal with it like a minor problem, at the relevant time.

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Winter Nights
piggiejan 11/24/2006 3:42:00 AM
after seeing all the raves for this quad which is a US exclusive and not available in Asia, i decided to cave and order one.
its 'square' in shape in accordance with the quads which are sold in the US. texture wise, its very smooth and soft and fine. pigmentation wise, i find that its one of the better US quads - just like what everyone else has said.
the taupe and 'green' - i have no idea how to describe it - are really pretty shades and have really decent pigment. so this is really good because i've found chanel quads to be rather sheer. the 'green' is so complex i dont think i've ever seen anything like that before :D
however, of all the shades, #3 (as indicated in my picture) is slightly chalky. its the only one which didnt apply as smoothly on my skin as the others.
#2 and #3 are very lightly pigmented while #1 and #4 are awesome in pigmentation so i guess it kinda works out. they're really nice shades that complement each other.

Lip Gloss -Giorgio Armani - Black Gem 29 Lip Shimmer
piggiejan 11/24/2006 3:37:00 AM
this is an initial review. i had assumed that black gem was a special LE lip gloss, but was surprised to see it labelled as lip shimmer #29, black gem, on the box. however, while it falls within the lip shimmer family, the texture and finish is rather different.
just like the pink satin glosses, this has a smell but its not overly cloying or sweet. however, and fortunately, there is absolutely no taste, so that is just perfect.
texture wise, its abit stickier and thicker (more gooey as opposed to watery) as compared to the normal lip shimmers. so i'd say this is more like the midnight lip shimmers, just that its abit stickier. but the stickyness isnt bad because its 'moderately sticky' - isnt annoying or uncomfortable, but helps with staying power.
its shiny, shimmery (think ysl golden glosses type of look, but toned down and alot more wearable) - but at the same time, there arent glitter particles like the midnight lip shimmers. so this is just absolutely fantastic. i think this is LE but i hope, it will be made permanent. see picture for colour swatch.

Eye Shadow -Shu Uemura - ME Silver 945 [DISCONTINUED]
piggiejan 11/21/2006 1:03:00 AM
i cant believe i never got round to reviewing this. so now that its discontinued, the new replacement shade (me brown 850) is similar but i feel that its not as complex. texture varies a little as well.
also - if you have problems wearing this due to the plum tones, a brown version of this shade would be me brown 855.
hope the swatches help.

please see my other reviews regarding texture etc. hopefully the picture is sufficient to describe the colour. its one of the more wearable, almost true golds i own and i'm a gold fiend.

Eyeliner -Chanel - Le Crayon Kohl Intense Eye Pencil in Ambre 62
piggiejan 11/18/2006 10:09:00 AM
gorgeous rich brown shade (i believe it has very slight traces of red in it) which is perfect for lining asian eyes - black can often be abit harsh but this works perfectly with my skintone (pictures in gallery) and doesnt look too over the top.
it's well pigmented, draws extremely smoothly, and its easy to smudge it for a soft finish.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Surabaya Duo
piggiejan 11/18/2006 10:01:00 AM
extremely pigmented - you will probably need to use other eyeshadows to work with this duo because these are more like crease/liner shades. the colours are however gorgeous - lovely shades of shimmery browns. but it might be abit 'warm'

Eye Shadow -NARS - Stage Beauty Duo (Summer 2006)
piggiejan 11/18/2006 10:00:00 AM
one of the nicer nars duos - this is pretty wearable tho i like the shade on the left side more as the shade on the right side, while really pretty and rather unique, has a tendency to look abit more orange then i'd like on my skin.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Lip Lacquer in Eros
piggiejan 11/18/2006 9:58:00 AM
I LOVE THIS SHADE! its a gorgeous reddy shade with some berry tones to it. highly pigmented, its enough to use it alone without any lipstick. its abit sticky but that helps with its lasting power.
it also looks gorgeous with chelsea girls layered over it.
i would definitely repurchase once i run out - but i only wish it wasnt in a pot form because its just so terribly inconvenient to touch up when you're outside unless you have a lip brush - and i dont like to use my finger with it

Lip Gloss -NARS - Lip Lacquer in Chelsea Girls
piggiejan 11/18/2006 9:55:00 AM
i really really like the nars lacquers. they've got a great texture, but they're abit too sticky for my liking - but thats okay because it helps to give them an awesome staying power. they're also well pigmented and work really well worn alone, but yet have that nice finish that is akin to using a gloss that isnt very glossy.
chelsea girls was like out of stock and not available for like the longest time. and i was intrigued especially with all the reviews. i'm usually not a nude lip colour person but i had to buy it to see what the hype was all about.
its really wearable, doesnt wash out your lips, if worn alone - just make sure you apply it sparingly. i found that one of the combinations i loved best, was applying it over nars eros - it made just the perfect lip colour for me.
my gripe, is that its in a pot. i wish it came in a tube because its inconvenient to touch up unless you have a habit of bringing your lip brush out, and its also a hassle to apply because you need to use a brush. if you use your finger, it kinda makes the pot look gross and ugly, and your finger gets sticky

Makeup Brushes -NARS - Smudge Brush 15
piggiejan 11/18/2006 9:50:00 AM
this is AWESOME. coupled with my stila #5 brush, these two brushes are all i need for a perfect eye. the brush head is just the perfect size to do crease work! picks up and deposits pigment perfectly, doesnt cause fall out all over my face, and doesnt shed. its also soft to the touch, which is good because i hate having something prickly on my lids. i have one - and am in the midst of procuring two more :D that just goes to show how awesome it is!

Blush -Stila - Baked Cheek Duo - Pink Glow
piggiejan 11/18/2006 9:47:00 AM
i hate to spoil the ratings. but i didnt like this blush. the texture was great, but the colour just didnt work for me - it was too 'pink' but like i said, its purely from a personal perspective. it might work better if you were of different skin colouring or if you liked this type of colour.
for reference, nw20, asian (pics in gallery if you want to reference)
