BB Cream -Too Faced - Air Buffed BB Creme SPF 20
rated 4 of 5
phunkysuz 1/25/2013 11:02:00 AM

As soon as I saw this on Ulta, I had to try it. I have tried a few BB creams, but nothing I really cared for until now. It is expensive at $39, but comes with a cute mini foundation brush w/cap that attaches to top of container. The brush is super soft yet sturdy at same time. Coverage is light to medium with a semi matte finish. I am a Mac NC30-35 and the color Linen Glow was a pretty close match. It was hard finding out which color I would be since I found no reviews or good photos. I was lucky though! This does have golden undertones, so probably won't work for everyone. Actually all the colors they have currently are a golden undertone :( I am pretty neutral but blended fine for me. Texture is very thick and dense, almost like a chapstick/hard balm if that makes any sense. You have to swirl brush around hard to pick up any color so I see this lasting quite awhile. Wear time so far has been about 8 hours and have not noticed much shine by end of day. I am pretty dry right now, so not sure how well it would work on oily skin. I have only worn 2 days, so will have to see how my skin adjusts and will update. So I give this a solid 4 for now. Think this will be great for spring/summer for a lighter foundation look. http://img.makeupalley.com/2/9/1/1/2382072.JPG

Lip Gloss -Unlisted Brand - Amuse Matte Lipgloss
rated 5 of 5
phunkysuz 11/4/2011 10:00:00 AM

Wow, took a chance on CherryCulture since swatches are not available and rarely accurate anyways (found Amuse site to guess colors) and love this! This might be the lightest color available? It is Matte but moisturizing and feels glossy. Color is perfect peachy nude (Kim Kardashian look) and lasts longer than a normal lipgloss. The scent is very light, reminds me of pink starburst candy and has a doe foot applicator. There seems to be a lot of product as well. For $1.99, you can't go wrong with at least trying this out. I love it and want more! Pic above...

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - AMUSE SINGLE IN NATURAL
rated 4 of 5
phunkysuz 11/4/2011 9:43:00 AM

This is my second Amuse single eyeshadow from Cherryculture.com and think these are better quality than palettes. They are softer and easier to apply and have great pigment. This color is a peachy pink with slight pearl. Very versatile color and lasts all day. I also previously bought in SunshineHave pic below: http://img.makeupalley.com/2/9/1/1/2109807.JPG On sale for 99 cents right now, you really can't go wrong! They also have in Matte formula which I haven't tried yet.

Eyes -L.A. Colors - JUMBO EYE PENCIL
rated 3 of 5
phunkysuz 11/3/2011 4:31:00 PM

I found these at CherryCulture.com and have been wanting the UD shadow pencils for some time and thought these would fill the void til I could afford the real deal. Well, these are not even quite as good as NYX Jumbo pencils unfortunately. The colors look great and swatched some below. For $1.50 a piece, I bought 5 colors just in case they were HG material. They are very creamy...too creamy apparently since they crease and rub right off. 2nd ingredient is petroleum :( So guess will try them with primer first and see what happens but pretty disappointing so far.

Vacation- Blackened cherry with glitter Cherry Blossom- Pearly pink Tropical Bliss- Vibrant purple Spring- Pearly golden green Sea Shells- Matte White (dupe for NYX Milk?) http://img.makeupalley.com/2/9/1/1/2109415.JPG

Blush -Lacura - Sunset Blush
rated 5 of 5
phunkysuz 10/31/2011 10:21:00 AM

Got for 99 cents at Aldi's...get it now while on sale! Also got some other products by Lacura since couldn't pass up this price (have some more reviews on these too). Decided to get this in Sunset since it looked the most pigmented/darkest on color swatch indicator on outer box. Hate that you can't see the actual color, but for that price I took a chance. This is a rusty pink, little shimmer that is a bit powdery, but nicely pigmented. I actually like the packaging, round charcoal chrome outside that looks high end. The brush inside is useless and usually throw em out anyways, so no biggie. The color looks like a natural flush on my skin and seems to wear pretty well through work day. Going this week to get more colors and products while on sale and will get some swatches up soon!

Crème -Lacura - Beauty Foundation
rated 4 of 5
phunkysuz 10/31/2011 9:55:00 AM

So my local Aldi's had sale on their makeup...99 cents! I couldn't pass up sale so stocked up on some products including their blush, mascara, face cream and this foundation in Bronze. I saw swatches from another online review and it seemed that the color Sun was darker than Bronze and thought the Beige would be too light for me. This product is made in Germany and have had great success with some of their other products. Packaging is nice, reminds me of old DHC liquid foundation bottle. The color is darker than my skintone which is NC30-35, this is a neutral dark beige. I was bummed at first but figured maybe could try as a tinted moisturizer to give my face some color for winter. I tried after moisturizing with their Hydra Complete (and yes the foundation smell is pretty gross, but fades quickly). Wow, I really loved the results. Did not look cakey and finish is Matte and medium/light coverage. Unfortunately the face cream was not moisturizing enough so my face felt a little tight. I def. recommend trying this esp. if you can get at the amazing sale price. Going back to buy other colors and some more makeup. Blush is fantastic BTW. Have more reviews on rest of products I bought....I love Aldi's!

Moisturizers -L'Oreal - Age Perfect Hydra-Nutrition Golden Balm
rated 5 of 5
phunkysuz 10/13/2011 3:57:00 PM

Almost didn't pick this up because of the price tag, $20...sigh. But I read some very positive reviews at ULTA and have been looking for something that keeps me moisturized for more than 10 minutes. I have tried everything for my dry, sensitive skin. All brands and prices. I would not recommend to those with oily skin. It is thick (hence the balm in name) and very concentrated with a light citrus scent. After application my face feels dewy and looks great. My skin actually felt plump afterwards which I've never had happen. Need to still try on neck and décolletage as it states in directions to see if any improvement. Initially I thought it wasn't absorbed or dry enough on my face for makeup, but it went on without a problem and no greasies. There are 10 different oils used in this and the one negative is that one of the first oils is mineral oil :( But so far I have had no breakouts or reactions, just very moisturized skin, perfect for colder weather. It's pricey for drugstore, but worth the results so far.

Eyeliner -Ulta - ULTA Extreme Wear Gel Liner in Strut (Purple)
rated 4 of 5
phunkysuz 4/29/2011 11:27:00 AM

I bought this mainly because there was a sale, buy one get one at Ulta so got this one and Ink. I mainly use gel liners on my waterline so this review is based on that. The color is a shimmery deep purple (pic below) and consistency is much creamier than fluidlines which may be off-putting to some. This makes it a little harder to pick up color, but was able to manage. You get a lot of product, same size as fluidlines, at $9. The color lasted pretty well, after 8 hour workday this is what was left on waterline below. Overall, I do like this shade as it is hard to find a purple gel liner that shows up on waterline and lasts. I would not buy Ink though, was very runny and not very opaque. http://img.makeupalley.com/2/9/1/1/1955446.JPG http://img.makeupalley.com/2/9/1/1/1955447.JPG

Conditioner -John Frieda - Frizz-Ease - Smooth Start Repairing Conditioner
rated 4 of 5
phunkysuz 3/15/2011 9:50:00 AM

I initially bought this because I like the frizz ease serum and this was a 30% more product free deal. I have dry, coarse, colored and slightly graying hair that needs a heavy conditioner with lots of slip to control my frizz/split ends. It is a thick cream, lightly scented with nice slip. It did a pretty good job of detangling my hair and taming the frizz. I leave on for a few minutes and rinse but always leave a bit on ends. I let most of my hair air dry and it does seem a bit more smoothed out. I still use a serum after towel drying, it doesn't get rid of that step, but was pleasantly surprised by this conditioner. I may try the Shampoo in conjunction to see if there will be even better results. Overall decent conditioner for me. Here are ingredients: WATER, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, BEHENTRIMONIUM CHLORIDE, BEHENYL ALCOHOL, BIS(C13-15 ALKOXY) PG-AMODIMETHICONE, HYDROLYZED SILK, DIMETHICONE, DICETYLDIMONIUM CHLORIDE, FRAGRANCE, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, BENZYL ALCOHOL, PEG-14M, QUATERNIUM-91, DIMETHICONOL, CETRIMONIUM METHOSULFATE, LACTIC ACID, GLYCINE, MALIC ACID, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, BIS-METHOXYPROPYLAMIDO ISODOCOSANE, METHYLCHLOROISOTHIAZOLINONE, METHYLISOTHIAZOLINONE

Moisturizers -Kiehls - Panthenol Protein Moisturizing Face Cream
rated 4 of 5
phunkysuz 10/28/2009 9:49:00 AM

I'm always looking for a moisturizer that a) moisturizes without having to re-apply b) doesn't stink c) safe for my sensitive skin d) affordable e) doesn't cause breakouts. So far this meets the criteria. I haven't had any negative reactions after using this for a few weeks. It does take a bit longer to soak into my skin then my HG, Lacura Q10 restorative cream but less heavy which is great for daytime use. Using Kiehl's in morning and Lacura at night has turned my dry skin into. Highly recommend!

Bronzers -NARS - The Multiple Bronzer in Rapa Nui
rated 5 of 5
phunkysuz 10/20/2009 4:16:00 PM

I am also a NC30 and needed something with some color that does not have sparkle overload or turn orange for winter. I thought the lighter bronzers would not do enough for me, so I choose the darkest and happy with results. I can contour my cheekbones and dab a little on forehead and look like I was on vacation, not in a tanning booth. The color is a warm medium brown, goes on slightly sheer and dries instantly to matte finish. This is actually my first multiple and worth the extra money since I could see using this almost everyday. Love it!

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - Amuse 6 Ultra Shine Diamond Shimmer Powder
rated 5 of 5
phunkysuz 11/7/2008 10:30:00 AM

This review is for the color combo: Fushia/Orange Passion/Pink/Baby Pink/Coral/Field Green. First the whole contraption is a little difficult getting product out. It has a cap with large mirror on top and underneath 6 cheapy eyeshadow wands that are secured in it like dip sticks. So while packaging is not so great, the product itself is unbelievable! The pinks look similar in pot, but actually quite varied. I have worn them all individually and look quite different in hue. I decided not to use primer, just to see how they would hold up. The texture was shimmery but very pigmented. After 6 hours, the color was only slightly faded. My favorite color has to be the darkest one which is a rusty orange pink (orange passion i think?), very hard to describe but gorgeous! I will put up swatches soon. I think that if you don't want to spend a lot on MAC pigments, this is a great buy at CherryCulture.com. This is a wonderful find.

Lips -Fyrinnae - Lip Lustre - Hearts & Stars
rated 3 of 5
phunkysuz 10/21/2008 2:30:00 PM

I would really give 3.5 since color/texture was a minor issue. This color I RIS to try out before I went and bought a bunch of colors then waited a month to finally get them. Glad I did because the swatches are hard to tell on Fyrinnae's website. Hearts & Stars is described as a sheer light peach "nude" with a coppery pink highlight. Berries & Champagne scent. I disagree with color somewhat. Swatch is more peach/nude on website. In tube it looks pink opalescent nude. It is very light, sheer and shimmery, almost chrome opal pink with maybe a touch of copper. I have included a photo above for reference. It is not moisturizing enough for me, more of a shimmery stain, but could be used under clear gloss. Does seem to be long lasting. It's not my fav. color, but willing to try more out maybe darker colors.

Lip Gloss -NYX - Round Lipgloss 26 Pinky Natural
rated 3 of 5
phunkysuz 9/30/2008 1:41:00 PM

Yes, the smell is not that great, but I did like the pigment of this gloss. Unfortunately, like the other reviewer stated, it is too pink and dark for me. I want to try some other colors before I make up my mind on whether this is worth it. I also bought Apricot which is more sheer (see my review) and I like a bit better. Check out my pic above for reference.

Eye Shadow -Unlisted Brand - About Face - Eye Shadow in Knights on Horses
rated 5 of 5
phunkysuz 9/8/2008 12:02:00 PM

I just ordered for my first time on theshespace.com and received this beauty (a 50 cent sample). It is so awesome and finally something that looks like the color of my eyes! I do use wet since the color payoff dry is sheer. The color is a grayed green with the slightest touch of blue on me. Their description: Deep sage with a hint of navy. So I think that is pretty much dead on. I use a primer and lasts all day at work. I paired it with Mac Golden Olive in crease to warm it up (can see in my pics or above). I plan on ordering full size of Knights on Horses along with a few others. I am truly impressed with About Face cosmetics!
