Foundations -Revlon - Nearly Naked Foundation
photogeneric 1/1/2013 8:32:00 PM
I wanted to try this foundation because I recently picked up the Urban Decay Naked Skin foundation and thought this might be a more affordable option for every day use. I have to say they're comparable but not dead on dupes. Both offer buildable coverage from sheer to medium and provide a satin finish. Not dewey, not flat. I enjoy the color of the Revlon (I wear 2.0 in the Urban Decay and picked Vanilla from Revlon. I would describe my skin tone as fair/light with neutral/golden undertone). I'm pleased it isn't very pink because I have that problem with many drug store foundations and I think that the color selection is pretty good. I have normal/dry skin and I do not powder this. It lasts all day on my skin and looks nice at the end of the day. I don't know how this would work for oily skin, or if it was powdered. Overall I think this is a very good drug store foundation for those who are looking for a lighter alternative to something like Revlon Colorstay or a less expensive alternative to Urban Decay's Naked Skin foundation.

Foundations -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals Ready Foundation
photogeneric 9/10/2012 11:47:00 PM
I feel compelled to write a review after some of the other reviews I've been reading about this product. Naturally, foundations are a very individual thing. We all like different things. That being said, I am young (20 years old) and I have a normal skin type and do not need a lot of coverage. I just like foundations to even out my skin tone and provide a nice base for blush/bronzer. I have used Bare Minerals original in the past and have tried the Matte version as well. I would say the finish of this foundation is satin. It is not very matte, and it is not as "glowy" as the original Bare Minerals formula. With my normal skin, I tend to like this product more after it has had time to "settle in" a bit. The wear time is excellent for me. I need my makeup to last about 12 hours and this does that for me with minimal fading. I do not ever touch up. Upon reading other reviews what has puzzled me the most are the comments saying people are having color issues with this. I have worn Fairly Light in both versions of the loose powder Bare Minerals, and recently switched to Golden Fair when I found out they added that color to the range. Golden Fair works just fine for me in the pressed version. I do not notice any variation in the color of this powder. I purchased this from a Bare Minerals store, so I do not know if where the product is coming from (maybe a particular batch?) has anything to do with this but I felt it was worth mentioning. I also want to note some people have issues with Bare Minerals and breaking out. I rarely break out from products so can not comment in that regard. I really enjoy the packaging. One of my biggest complaints with Bare Minerals previously was the loose powder form. I found it not only messy, but also inconvenient. The pressed form is very user friendly. I do not find this cakey at all. I apply with a fluffy powder brush and gently buff over the skin. I would not recommend packing this on with a dense brush. Just build it gently and it shouldn't cake at all. My recommendation (as I recommend when I review any foundation) is to keep your receipt no matter where you buy it from in case you need to return it. Things always look different in a store, when someone else applies it on you, and as they wear etc. Overall though, if you are interested in this foundation I would give it a try. If all else fails, just exchange or return it (:

Scrubs -Simple - smoothing cleansing scrub
photogeneric 7/3/2012 4:14:00 PM
I really like this product. I purchased it because I wanted a gentle scrub to use after I got home from the gym. I think it cleanses well and makes my skin feel nice. If you're looking for a very rough exfoliant, this is not it. The particles are not very densely packed. But if you are looking for something gentle and non irritating that mildly exfoliates I think this works well. I would purchase it again.

Lip Treatments -Jack Black - Intense Therapy Lip Balm spf 25
photogeneric 6/22/2012 2:09:00 AM
This product is just okay for me. I bought it because it gets a lot of love from various YouTube beauty gurus etc. I will continue to use it because I paid for it but will not re purchase. It doesn't work better than other lip balms I've tried for less money. Maybe my hopes were too high and I expected it to be groundbreaking because of the stellar reviews, but I'll be going back to Burt's Bees or Carmex upon finishing this product.

Eyes -Milani - Shadow Eyez - 03 Champagne Toast
photogeneric 4/15/2012 10:38:00 PM
Love this pencil! It is a pretty dead on dupe to the Urban Decay 24/7 Shadow Pencil in Sin for a drugstore price. It did everything it claimed: Wear for a long period of time with no creasing and great color payoff. It's very nice alone or with shadows layered over it. Very creamy as well, very similar to the Liquif'eye eyeliners. Would highly recommend these and I would also like to pick up more colors.

Foundations -Tarte - Amazonian Clay 12-hour Full-Coverage Foundation SPF 15
photogeneric 2/7/2012 11:25:00 AM
I'm in love with this foundation. I purchased the lightest shade Fair and it is an absolute perfect match for my skin tone. I imagine I'd be about NW15 in MAC, I wear NARS Sheer Glow in Mont Blanc, and Make Up Forever Mat Velvet + in 20. I love this foundation because it is full coverage but still manages to be very natural looking. I would describe it as a satin finish. It is not dewy and is not flat looking. On my skin (normal) with no primer and going about my typical day it lasted 17 hours. I think the packaging is functional and it is easy to control how much you squeeze out. My favorite way to apply it is with a BeautyBlender sponge. I highly recommend this foundation. Try it out! Worst case, just return it but I doubt you'd want to (;

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - 24/7 Shadow Pencil in Sin
photogeneric 2/4/2012 5:10:00 PM
Returning this. I bought 2 of these shadow pencils (Sin and Rehab) after I got a sample size of the purple one (Deliquent?). I loved the purple and it was so creamy but this one was AWFUL. Not creamy at all. I felt like I was pulling on my eyelids. The color is beautiful, but I am not a fan of the formula and I would not recommend this.

Mascara -FairyDrops - FAIRYDROPS Mascara
photogeneric 1/4/2012 5:12:00 PM
I wanted to love this mascara so much, but it gave my eyes a HORRIBLE reaction! I have never reacted to a mascara, EVER so for that to happen is truly devastating. Every time I wore the mascara, my upper lash line would itch like crazy. When I removed the mascara I could see my lash line was puffy, red and flaky :/ I eliminated all other makeup products until the reaction went down, tried this mascara again (with no other products on my face) and yet again the reaction happened. If you purchase this mascara, I would definitely keep your receipt in case you need to return it. I loved the look this gave my lashes, but the reaction I had to it makes me give this 1 lippie :(

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in High Tea
photogeneric 12/14/2011 1:30:00 AM
This is a color I would highly recommend trying on before you buy it. The MAC website calls this color a "Beiged pink with pearl", however on me I felt this was very peach which I am not a fan of at all. It took me a long time to figure out why I didn't like this lipstick, so I actually used a lot of it and then when I realized the peachiness (on me) was what I didn't like I just Back to MACed it. Seems like a lot of people love this color, so just try it out first so you aren't bummed.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Fresh Brew
photogeneric 12/14/2011 1:24:00 AM
I feel as if I need to give this lipstick a good review because I think it deserves more credit! I've noticed by lightly skimming other reviews many (not all) people who dislike it are darker skin toned. This is one of my favorite lipsticks of all time (I have purchased it about 6 times) and I have fair skin, blonde hair and blue eyes. On me this lipstick is a very pretty light brown. Many people with fairer skin tend to shy away from more brown lipsticks but with a light dusting of bronzer and a neutral blush (I like MAC Gingerly) this is an amazing color. I would really recommend just trying this color on yourself in the store, especially if you are fair skinned. I give Fresh Brew 2 thumbs up!

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Day 2 Night
photogeneric 10/21/2011 1:53:00 AM
Overall I really enjoy this eyeshadow quad. The color assortment is my favorite part about it. I find the plum shade and the darker navy shade to be very pigmented, while the taupe and vanilla shades are more sheer but I am able to build them up. I have to rub my brush in these a bit to get them to work, but for a dollar I don't really care. On my eyes this palette looks great, it is very versatile and I've received a lot of compliments while wearing it. No one believes me that my eyeshadow cost so little. I was able to blend the shades and didn't experience fallout. The only things I wished were that these had the texture of Wet N Wild eyeshadows (very soft) for the price, and also the little triangle packaging be changed to squares so it is easier to fit a brush in the shadow. Other than that, this is a great quad. I truly love it, use it often and would repurchase/recommend it to others.

Makeup Brushes -E.L.F. - Studio Powder Brush
photogeneric 10/21/2011 1:45:00 AM
If I had to select a favorite brush that I own, I would select this one. I actually have two of them. I use one for liquid foundation and the other one for powder. This is a fantastic brush, and that clearly shows in the outstanding reviews it has here on MUA. ELF really made a hit with this. It is very soft, costs $3 and performs exceptionally at applying liquid and powder products. I would highly recommend this brush to everyone. It is great to have in your collection and I use it daily.

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorBurst in 070 Soft Nude [DISCONTINUED]
photogeneric 10/18/2011 8:12:00 PM
Yet another nude that looks far too orange on me :( I love the Colorburst formula (my favorite is Soft Rose) however this color is not good on my skin tone. Is the product itself bad? Definitely no. I would really recommend the Colorburst line. Creamy, no scent, good color range, good price, what more could you want in a line? This shade just doesn't work for me. And my unhappiness is another reason I prefer buying high end lipsticks.. so I can try the color on before I buy it. The hunt for a good nude continues.

Polishes -Revlon - Facets of Fuchsia
photogeneric 9/22/2011 8:49:00 PM
This polish is awesome! I definitely recommend picking it up, especially for the price. I would be pretty bummed if I shelled out the money for Deborah Lippmann's "Bad Romance" and then saw this polish.. LOL. They are pretty identical. Application was great, I used 3 coats for my desired look but you could use a black polish underneath or a purple and that would look really nice as well.

Lip Gloss -Urban Decay - Lip Love Honey Infused Lip Therapy- Lolita
photogeneric 5/20/2011 9:18:00 PM
I really like this lip gloss! I happen to really enjoy that it is in a squeeze tube. Also, you get .34 fl oz vs .17 fl oz in a MAC lipglass for a few dollars more. The color is nice, it is sheer but it's not clear (which can happen with a lot of sheer glosses). I'd be weary if you are sensitive to scent though since these have quite a strong honey scent. They wear very comfortably, not overly sticky.. I love the hot pink shade of Lolita, but I want to try more shades. Overall I would highly recommend!
