Self Tanners -Unlisted Brand - St. Moriz Self Tanner Foam

This review is for the instant self-tan lotion: I have been using self-tanner weekly for about 10 years, so I have tried a lot of products. When I bought this I had been using Faux Tan with the buffing brush and was very happy with it. But when I saw this at the reject shop for $6 AUD I thought I'd try it. I had been looking for this in Australia for ages, but with shipping costs it just wasn't cheap anymore. I didn't have high hopes for this product but it really is amazing. I prefer it to St Tropez, Faux Tan and Modelco. It is really easy to apply, has a good colour tracer that looks even and wearable outside (unlike Faux Tan) and dries so quickly. The best thing about this product is that when its on, you don't get that sticky/tacky feeling on the skin. Its so light that you could wear it all day without noticing. The colour is much darker than Faux Tan but its really natural looking and not orange at all. I put a few coats on and was surprised at how dark it was- I would use it sparingly. I applied it with the buffer brush and the application was fairly even. I think this is harder to use than Faux Tan, it seems to streak slightly more but would be fine if you were careful with the application. My only criticism is that the next day it was slightly splotchy and lighter in certain places, and doesn't seem to last or wear as well as Faux Tan. Still for a tenth of the price of Faux Tan and virtually the same end colour, and much less sticky on the skin- can't go wrong! Also the smell is virtually non-existent. I didn't get that fake tan smell at all! Couldn't be happier with this product, just hope the Reject Shop keep stocking it!

Concealers -Rimmel - Match Perfection Concealer
phoebe9797 7/16/2012 6:41:00 PM
i honestly dont understand why this gets good reviews! Its terrible.. even for the price! I laugh every time I put this on, because the worst part about it is ironically the colour match. I bought the second lightest shade, which looked fine in the store and I didn't have many other options so i bought it. It oxidises on the skin and looks orange and dark around my blemishes.. Its almost like it looks worse when i have it on for a while. My foundation usually evens that stuff out, but this brought orange colour seems to show through anything. Worst part about it is the coverage- i don't find it gives any coverage at all and if you try to build it, it balls up and falls off the face. The packaging is completely useless and impractical, and for the amount you get and the low quality of the product, its not even worth it. Ive tried quite a few other drug store concealers, and this is the worst.

Liquid -Smashbox - Studio Skin 15 Hour Wear Fdt.
phoebe9797 7/16/2012 6:35:00 PM
By far the best foundation I have ever used! I bought this purely on the reviews alone, and couldn't be happier. I am light/medium and got the 2nd lightest shade there was, as I read that this does oxidise. The first time I applied this I did freak out.... It seemed to settle into my pores around my nose and was extremely difficult to blend. I fixed that problem by using a non-latex sponge rather than my usual foundation brush- it made a huge difference. Either way, I find this foundation can look patchy straight after you apply, but somehow it fixes itself using the warmth of the skin and evens out. I look much better after having it on for at least half an hour. Its a very thin, almost watery consistency, and feels very light on application. The best thing about this foundation is that it looks completely natural and is so buildable. I can make this a light foundation that completely looks like I am wearing no makeup or build it to a full coverage when I need to, and it doesn't look patchy or streaky at all. The packaging is ideal and very hygienic, and the colour was perfect for me as I have yellow undertones- it matched my skin seamlessly. The only criticism I have is that it is nowhere near as hydrating as the lady at Mecca claimed. I think they want to differentiate this product from most other long wearing foundations which dry the skin out and flake away. Although i could never call this 'hydrating', it definitely won't dry your skin out. I also found that you need a perfect base for this product. I recommend a good exfoliation before use because it does latch onto dry skin- not a good look. I used clarins hydraquench underneath this with a bit of revlon photoready primer and I was good to go. Overall, an amazing foundation if you know how to use it best. Probably wouldn't recommend this to first time makeup users though, they may find it difficult to blend and make even.

Moisturizers -Clarins - HydraQuench Cooling Cream-Gel
phoebe9797 7/13/2012 6:54:00 AM
This is really an amazing product and my skin has never looked better after a month of use. I bought this when my skin became dehydrated and completely broken out after using Jurlique's balancing day cream for a week. This product is amazing to use, feels refreshing on application and my skin immediately feels hydrated. After a week of use, I noticed my skin had evened in texture and tone, and my pore size greatly reduced. My skin looks and feels the better than I thought possible using this moisturizer, and after trying quite a few in my time, I will definitely stick with this.

Self Tanners -Bare Escentuals - Faux Tan
phoebe9797 1/24/2012 7:26:00 PM
Agree with the last review completely. This tanner is a little over hyped. When I got it i thought I was going to be much more impressed. I mainly bought it because my partner cant stand the smell of tanner and I thought this wouldn't have a smell. It does, of course. Every tanner does as its developing. Once the almond scent (which isn't that pleasant anyway) dissipates you have biscuit. The color is descent, but I have overused it, and you do turn orange. I dont think that there is a great big difference between fake tans- its probably similar to st. tropez- but you need to use them all sparingly I guess. I wish this tanner developed a little faster. Overall, nothing to be amazed with. Yes, its a good tanner but its not revolutionary. You still get the orangeness and the biscuit smell, and it doesnt last too long. I probably wont rebuy. I still prefer st Tropez.

Cleansers -Mario Badescu - Enzyme Cleansing Gel
phoebe9797 1/24/2012 7:18:00 PM
Just bought this cleanser last week after using shiseido 'perfect whip' and returning it. I had a bad reaction to that product- the amount of chemicals contains in a single cleanser is disgusting. After a single wash my usually resilient skin was dry, irritated and broke out in a rash. You could feel the chemicals as you used the product. So it goes without saying that I was looking for a replacement cleanser that was gentle and relatively natural but still effective to use on my combination/acne prone skin. This cleanser was exactly that. I didn't have high expectations, mainly due to the price ($18 AUD) and few ingredients, but I was really impressed. I have tried so many cleansers, most recently finished a bottle of Avene Cleanance, but this was so much better. I love that it feels natural and gentle, and its a really nice consistency- between a gel and a cream. The bottle is great and hygienic and the cleanser removes all my makeup without any residue or tight feeling. After cleansing, I am left with baby soft skin that glows and looks much clearer, and has a slight natural 'green' fragrance which is refreshing. This cleanser has rebalanced my skin, and I have less breakouts and dry areas, with a more even skin tone. I would have never thought you could get such a good cleanser for less that $20 but I have been proved wrong. This is definitely my new HG cleanser and I highly recommend it to anyone with normal/combination skin. The only negative is that it contains methylparaben, otherwise it would be a perfect cleanser.

Concealers -Everyday Minerals - Aussie Perk Me Up
phoebe9797 7/17/2011 7:53:00 PM
This is not a concealer at all, it is definitely a highlighter/illuminator. I hope Everyday minerals fix this up because its actually a great product, but its just not a concealer. As a concealer it makes blemishes/under eye darkness more visible by illuminating them with a silvery glow. As a highlighter its extremely versatile. I use it in the corners of the eye, above the brow bone, on the apples of my cheeks and throughout the center of my face to reduce redness/ add a beautiful subtle glow. I find that its incredible for this purpose- it makes me look fresh, awake and 'finished' and as its only minerals so I don't need to worry about clogging pores. You do need to make sure you a fair enough and don't put too much on- it can look silvery on darker skin tones and if you use too much. So cheap, would definitely rebuy!

Concealers -Everyday Minerals - Intensive Fair concealer [DISCONTINUED]
phoebe9797 7/17/2011 7:41:00 PM
I bought this concealer a month ago and have been meaning to write a review ever since- but am still on the fence about whether I actually love this concealer. I have been using mineral makeup for many years now, however struggled with mineral concealers because i do prefer liquids. So this was a risk for me but at the ridiculously cheap price i didn't care. The color is very light (maybe im not as fair as i thought) but i prefer this in a concealer, as i find they oxidize quickly and can look darker on blemishes. Its a powder so its probably suited to oilier skin types- my skin was dry when i began to use this and the powder only accentuates this. It is reassuring that it wont clog pores and i haven't broken out from it. But where it fails is its coverage. When used with a liquid foundation i found it worked much better than with another powdered mineral foundation, but all in all the coverage it offers is not great. For a mineral makeup though it isn't bad, and if you are like me and are willing to forego some coverage for the benefits of clear skin then its fine. If you have fairly clear skin anyway then this will probably be enough coverage for you. I have found a big difference in the way it looks depending on the way its applied- theres alot of getting used to it. When its applied when using a brush, use very light layers over the blemishes- maybe 2 or three- and its virtually covered. If you try to apply it all at once it doesnt work- so it tends to take a bit of time. Wouldn't recommend it for under the eyes but its fine for blemishes- I guess im still a liquid girl at heart.

Moisturizers -Nuxe - Creme Fraiche de Beaute Light
phoebe9797 7/17/2011 7:21:00 PM
Love this moisturizer! Its incredible! I gave it a 4 because its not perfect ( was not impressed when i read the ingredients list and noticed it contains parabens- no moisturizer this expensive should contain such chemicals and if I had seen this earlier I wouldn't have purchased it). However, I did try it and my skin absolutely adored it, so i had no choice in the matter. Its very lightweight which is great for my combination/acne prone skin. I was apprehensive as its winter here in Australia and from the reviews it seemed as if it would not be sufficiently hydrating for my skin which tends to dry out in winter. I was wrong! Not only is this light but i find it hydrating enough for me to use throughout the coldest parts of winter and even in the snow! I have just started using glytone products too which have dried out my skin even more but this moisturizer, when used generously, is absorbed quickly and my skin just drinks it! It smooths out the dry areas, makes my skin feel soft and plump, slightly mattifies my t-zone and is lightweight! I was using a facial oil at the start as i was concerned it was not hydrating enough but I didn't need it at all, I actually think its one of the lightest yet most hydrating moisturizers I have come across. It hasn't caused me to break out once, in fact, i think my breakouts have been few and far between since getting this moisturizer. The packaging is hygienic and perfect and the smell is clean and fresh. I would absolutely repurchase this, but like many things, it is quite difficult to get in australia and takes a long time to ship.

Foundations -Unlisted Brand - Lucy Minerals Foundation
phoebe9797 7/17/2011 7:06:00 PM
I bought this product from the amazing reviews it got alone. I could've been very disappointed but it lived up to all my expectations. I gave it a five star rating- as a mineral makeup- I would not give it such a high rating if it wasn't a mineral makeup. If your looking for a foundation and are worried about the chemical content, the clogging pores factors then this is for you. Although I did have to mix 2 shades for my perfect color, it is so incredibly easy to apply from the start. You need the smallest amount (this is crucial- don't treat this like any other mineral makeup, bare essentials etc.- it offers a much greater coverage and you will come out looking like a clown!) and just swirl over the face. You end up with flawless looking skin, quite matte but with a fresh clean glow to it. It lasts like this for the entire day and has fantastic staying power in varied weather conditions. This foundations comes as a relief to mineral makeup users like me who always thought that wearing mineral makeup needed to compromise my foundation coverage and the 'polished' look. Cheap too! The only criticism i have is that in Australia it takes about 2 months or longer to actually receive the foundation- shipping needn't take that long and would be great if they could sort that out, but it wont stop me from repurchasing.
