Blush -MAC - Mineralize Blush - Happy Together
petitechatonne 7/22/2010 1:51:00 PM
Beautiful blush duo! I love it a lot, especially for the summer. It's a warm peachy apricoty neutral tan blush with a lovely pale gold highlight. Blended together, the colour looks natural and flattering on the cheeks. I think this product is underrated. Compared with Hang Loose, I think this is far more wearable and natural and you get sculpting qualities as well with this blush. You can choose to dip more into the highlighter side or the blush side. I personally dip about 3 times into the highlighter and once or twice into the blush side and then just swirl onto cheek bones and apples and then blend up towards the temple. I love the way this looks, with that lit-from-within glow.

Primer/ Corrector -L'Oreal - Studio Secrets Magic Perfecting Base
petitechatonne 7/2/2010 12:09:00 PM
I think this is a great primer! I have tried a lot, like most people here, and have never found one I liked enough to use on a daily basis. But I find this to make a real difference in the appearance and feel of my skin and how it actually controls oil. Many people don't like dipping their fingers in, but I don't mind. In fact, I prefer it. I just make sure my hands are always clean. It's easier to control how much product I'm getting out. A tub also ensures I use every last bit of product in there. The texture is like a marshmallowy thick foamy cream. Very much different than the lotion type feel from Laura Mercier or the siliconey oily slippy feel from Smashbox, or even the nothing feel from Korres. I quite like the texture because I can use so so little and it works to make my pores look smaller and smooth everything out. It's a bit pricey for such a small pot and for a drugstore product, but I got mine on sale for a couple dollars less than regular price and this is much cheaper than any of those highend brands anyway. Because you use so little of this product at a time, I think it would last a long time and I believe this is money well spent. All around a good primer. Definitely will repurchase, especially if on sale.

Polishes -Essie - Secret Affair
petitechatonne 5/20/2010 9:59:00 AM
One of my favourite nail polishes! It's a pale beige taupe with a touch of blushing rosey pale pink with a barely there pearly sheen. It is so lovely and elegant, perfect for many occasions. The first coat applies a bit sheerly and looks runny and streaky, but all is fixed with a second coat and it looks opaque and perfect. You could do a third coat if you wanted, but I don't think it's completely necessary. The formula also dries relatively quickly. I bought this on a whim, looking for a neutral nude colour, and though it isn't a true nude/beige colour, I'm happily surprised with this colour. The pink is what makes this light creamy taupey colour truly special. I will always have this in my collection.

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto Voluptuous

I like this mascara! It lengthens and volumizes without any clumping whatsoever and is a nice rich black colour. I was amazed at how well my lashes stayed curled throughout the day without any drooping or any crispiness. It's quite waterproof while keeping my lashes flexible and soft. I find that it layers quite well too. I put on one coat in the daytime and then i can add another coat in the evening before going out for more dramatic lashes. And lo and behold, no clumping, no spider lashes, just dark long fanned out lush lashes. I never would have done that with any other mascara, but this works really well. It's my current favourite. I do think that it works better after a week or so of first opening it. Not sure why that is. But after "breaking in" this mascara, works great.

Primer/ Corrector -Korres - Silicone-Free Face Primer
petitechatonne 7/14/2009 12:05:00 PM
I bought this to wear in conjunction with my Wild Rose Foundation. Love the foundation, don't like the primer. I suppose it isn't a terrible product. It just didn't work for me because I noticed breakouts. It smells fantastic, like citrusy fruit, and is very lightweight and fast-absorbing. It made my skin smoother and foundation went on great. But throughout the day, I noticed tiny little bumps on my forehead and on my cheeks. I stopped using this and my skin went back to normal. Tried it again, and same thing. I thought maybe it was too moisturizing so I gave it to my mother who has dry skin. She also broke out from it! I really wanted to like this, but my skin just didn't agree with it. Will exchange for the Korres Lip Butters or something.

Mascara -Maybelline - Lash Stiletto

I think this is a pretty good mascara. When I first got it, I was a bit underwhelmed, but now it's really growing on me. It lengthens amazingly, gives a bit of volume, no clumping, no flaking, no smudging. It's imperative that you apply your second coat while the first coat is still wet otherwise you get horrible clumps and you'll have to start from scratch which is always a pain. The smell is actually very nice. I love that it doesn't smell like makeup or chemicals. It smells like roses and lilacs to me. Very similar to my Korres Wild Rose Foundation scent actually. But if you don't like your makeup having a scent, pass this one up. This mascara is also quite long-wearing while keeping my lashes flexible and curled. Not many mascaras can do that. My lashes look naturally amazing all day long until I wash it off with my cleanser. No need for makeup remover here. Comes off really easily and there's absolutely no stinging. All in all, I've come to love this mascara. This just shows that a drugstore mascara can be comparable to high end mascaras.
