Polishes -Sally Hansen - royal blush
perfumequeen 3/30/2013 2:40:00 PM
What a disappointment. Generally I like these polishes, my favorite is Shell We Dance - and I thought this new nude-looking color would be perfect for Spring. It streaked terribly upon application, even with a base coat, 2 coats of color, and a top coat and didn't change upon drying. Then it chipped the next day. Tossed it in the garbage.

Polishes -Essie - Berry Hard

This polish looks lovely on short nails but you do have to be patient and apply at least 2 coats to get an opaque finish. The first coat always goes on streaky.

Mascara -Merle Norman - Lash Lift - Waterproof
perfumequeen 12/15/2012 11:37:00 AM
Again, a surprisingly good product - it holds curled lashes all day. I know Merle Norman doesn't get a lot of love on this board, but I purchased this in an emergency situation (I had forgotten to put my regular mascara in my purse that day, and had a special dinner that evening) and it looked great all day. Doesn't clump lashes or give that "spidery" weird look either. Will repurchase.

Moisturizers -Josie Maran Cosmetics - Argan oil
perfumequeen 12/2/2012 11:55:00 AM
I tried this as part of a package - using it as a substitute for the jojoba oil I usually mix with moisturizer during the winter. This is much runnier, doesn't seem as smooth, and I saw no difference in my skin to justify the high price for this small bottle. Going back to the jojoba oil as it's a better value.

Skincare - Face -Dr. Denese - HydroShield Ultra Moisturizing Face Serum
perfumequeen 10/21/2012 8:22:00 AM
This is a staple for me - it is the best I've found for adding moisture, smoothing skin, and prepping for makeup/treatments. I got Dr. Denese's book from the public library - interesting tips and recommendations there from diet to skin care. I know it's pricey, but worth a lot more than buying cheaper stuff that doesn't provide consistent results.

Crème -L'Oreal - Visible Lift Repair Absolute
perfumequeen 8/16/2012 6:12:00 PM
After trying many, many foundations - even the expensive high-end ones - I am really surprised at the quality of this one. It's a great skintone match for me, the titanium dioxide broad spectrum sunscreen doesn't end up looking ashy, and it doesn't settle into fine lines. I do use a light moisturizer underneath. Well worth the price, especially on sale.

Polishes -Essie - E-nuf is E-nuf
perfumequeen 6/28/2012 7:30:00 PM
Gorgeous pinky-red color, perfect for summer. Formula goes on easily - I think i could even get away with a single coat if i was in a hurry. Grab this one now while it's in stock - I may have to get a backup (and I rarely ever do that).

Fragrances -Roger & Gallet - Bois d'Orange
perfumequeen 4/28/2012 6:21:00 PM
Purchased both the dry oil and the fragrant water after testing in the NYC Duane Read's store (new display, not in all of their stores). I was looking for something light for the summer, appropriate for small work spaces, and this one has a wonderful combination of orange blossom and jasmine. I have tried Jo Malone's Orange Blossom, and like it, but for the price and the soft drydown, I really prefer the R&G version.

Lips -Bobbi Brown - pink seashell
perfumequeen 4/21/2012 7:52:00 AM
Pink Seashell Lip Treatment spf 15 is from the new Spring line, available at Nordstrom. I purchased it to wear alone, but it also works quite nicely over lipstick to serve as a semi-gloss with spf. It's a pinky-coral shade, a bit pricey for the size, but worth it with the spf addition.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Rich Lip Color SPF 12 - Pink Peony
perfumequeen 4/20/2012 7:07:00 PM
I agree with a previous review, this color is perfect for the Spring season. I haven't tried this formula before, but it does seem to have a lot of staying power. Very pretty with a bit of gloss (I have been using BB pink buff).

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Glossimer - Amour 166

Tried this in Nordstrom today. Pretty shade, but a lot of sparkle - not just shiny. I have several glossimers but I passed on this.

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Long-Wear Cream Eyeshadow in Shore
perfumequeen 11/13/2011 3:32:00 PM
I read the reviews here before placing my latest Bobbi Brown order. Really glad I did! I had to reach a certain $ amount to get some free palettes, so I ordered this cream Eye Shadow in Shore. I was a little concerned because I had tried the cream eye shadows years ago and found they creased almost immediately. This time, though, the Shore eye shadow had a beautiful soft finish - perfect with no other makeup except mascara on my days off, and will be great to use as a base during the week. Makes my eyes look more wide-awake and takes away any darkness from the lid area. Worth the price.

Styling Products -Nivea - Diamond Gloss Hairspray
perfumequeen 10/23/2011 10:23:00 AM
I purchased this hairspray when I was in Chicago at the smallflower.com brick and mortar store. Surprised to find that this is not only an effective holding spray, but it's not heavily-scented AND it doesn't leave a sticky film on my bathroom tile floor (a big plus). It's a little pricey compared with drugstore products, but certainly not as expensive as the Aveda brand, and it's better quality. Will buy again.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Allure in Intuitive
perfumequeen 9/25/2011 8:44:00 AM
I saw a swatch of this Rouge Allure in a magazine recently and went to Nordstrom's to try it out. The helpful SA there made me up with the Intuitive and just a little Glossimer #156, and then I went out into the daylight to see what it really looked like - I've been burned so many times I always do this test now, especially with the more expensive brands. This is truly a MLBB for me, and now I'm on the hunt for a backup since (of course!) it's an LE. Beautiful beige with a pink undertone that can be worn straight, or enhanced, and no need for a lip liner either. Very pleased with this purchase.

Polishes -Essie - Fiji
perfumequeen 8/27/2011 6:51:00 PM
It's a good thing this was part of the "buy 2, get 1 free" Essie promo at Beauty Brands because I'd be upset if I paid retail for this streaky mess! One of the worst pink polishes I've ever tried. Did one nail and threw it out. Awful
