Eye Shadow -MAC - Sumptuous Olive (Veluxe pearl)
peppermintcupcakes 3/5/2011 3:38:00 AM
This is a pretty solid eyeshadow. It has good pigmentation, the texture is soft and easy to work with, blendable, no fall out and long lasting. It is a olive green color with gold tones so it is not just a plain green color. This is great for a warm, fall look and plays very well with brown colors. I do like it and would say that it was worth the purchase.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - Wear Infinite Eye Shadow Single
peppermintcupcakes 3/5/2011 3:32:00 AM
I've tried other L'Oreal shadows before and have been disappointed but I couldn't help but give it one more try with another color so this review will be for the single shadow in 212 Midnight Sky - and this one was surprisingly good. Unlike their other shadows that I've tried, this one is pigmented and has a good texture to it. It is quite soft, easy to blend and does not have any fall out. It is a beautiful dark blue that stays true to the color in the pan and lasts all day. I would recommend this shadow because it a good, basic, inexpensive shadow to have in your collection. However, keep in mind that this may not be indicative of other colors they have so overall, it may be a hit or miss with L'Oreal shadows.

Eye Shadow -LORAC - Starry Eyed Baked Trio in Starlet
peppermintcupcakes 3/5/2011 3:19:00 AM
Amazing eye shadow that I would recommend to anyone! There really aren't any downsides to this product at all (maybe aside from the price; it is not the most budget-friendly item out there). It is very pigmented, long lasting, good texture and no fallout. The packaging is one of my favs. It comes in a thick, solid case that has good weight to it.

Liquid -NARS - Sheer Matte
peppermintcupcakes 3/5/2011 3:12:00 AM
This is a great foundation and there is no doubt that I would purchase the product again. It does not come with a pump which is the biggest con and yes, it is on the more expensive end but worth every penny. It is also the only foundation that matches my skin color perfectly. The other pros for this product are: -buildable; I've been able to use a small amount for a light coverage and many layers for days when I want more coverage yet it is not heavy on the skin -not drying or irritating (and I have pretty sensitive skin) -wide range of colors with varying undertones so it provides a good selection even for those with hard to match skin colors like myself -long lasting; one application in the morning can carry me throughout an entire 12+ hour day; no running, streaking, fading, etc.

Styling Products -Sunsilk - Waves of Envy Gel
peppermintcupcakes 8/17/2010 11:02:00 AM
I will say that this product has an appealing package. The gel and cream twist combined with the pump is unique and attractive. It also has a nice scent which makes it pleasant to use. However, it does not do the job that it is intended. My hair is partially wavy/curly and frizzy and this does not help to keep it tamed. If I use a lot of the product then it makes my hair crunchy (much like excessive amounts of gel would) and in that case would help my hair's frizziness and definition. If less of the product is used then it really doesn't do much for my hair at all.

Scrubs -Garnier - Nutritioniste Nutri-Pure Microbead Cream Scrub
peppermintcupcakes 7/15/2010 1:03:00 AM
The good stuff: it smells great! It's a lovely fresh, not overbearing scent. Sadly, that's about it for the good stuff. The cap is really tough to get off (I may have gotten a bad tube, I seem to have horrible luck when it comes to product packages). The beads in the scrub are waayyy too rough. I find the beads are abrasive when I'm using it and my skin ends up feeling raw when I finish washing it off. It doesn't 'scrub' as much as it just 'grates' against the skin. I would not be purchasing this again and have decided to give it two lippies because the scent is so nice but otherwise, it would be one lippie for sure.

Concealers -Maybelline - Cover Stick
peppermintcupcakes 7/15/2010 12:53:00 AM
I like that this cover stick gives great coverage. It easily hides under eye circles and any other blemishes. The down side to this product is that it is very dry which makes it tough to work with. It does not spread easily on the skin and I find myself tugging at my face a bit just to spread the product around. One way to work with this product is to not directly dot in onto the face but rather work it in your fingers and dab it on the spots that need coverage. I think that this is a great inexpensive starter concealer that gives great results but it does take some patience to work with it.

Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - New Flat Top Brush
peppermintcupcakes 7/15/2010 12:41:00 AM
I would say this product is actually a 4.5. It's as close to a perfect brush as you will find. It is dense and as soft as everyone says it is - something I was skeptical about. There has been no shedding and I've used this brush for some time and put it through quite a number of washes at this point. This brush has become my 'go to' as I haven't used any others since I bought this one. The only thing I've noticed with this brush is that after washing it takes a long time to dry and the bristles sort of bunch up together which requires me to brush it out when it finally fully dries. This is a bit of a minor annoyance but nothing that will stop me from repurchasing and recommending!

Mascara -Maybelline - Great Lash Mascara
peppermintcupcakes 7/15/2010 12:24:00 AM
I've tried other mascaras and I find that I always come back to this one. This is a BASIC mascara for everyday, all purpose or starter use. It is not one of those fancy mascaras that will lift and lengthen so if those are your expectations, then you will likely be a bit disappointed. However, if you just want an inexpensive all around mascara, then I would definitely recommend this product.

Lipstick -Revlon - Just Enough Buff
peppermintcupcakes 6/30/2010 2:38:00 PM
Very disappointed in this product. I've generally been a fan of Revlon products and have been pleased with another lipstick of theirs, however, this one is a let down. It takes many coats to build any color, it's hard and dry, uneven and generally does not feel good on the lips. The package was also pretty bad as the twist is really hard and it takes quite a bit of force just to twist the lipstick out (I have a feeling I might have picked up a defective one in this particular case). It's not super expensive considering it's a drug store brand, but it is more expensive than it is worth considering the color transfer is so poor. I wouldn't buy this again especially since this nude isn't "nude" enough for my tastes, it's more of a pinky nude. It doesn't have any funky smells though, which is a plus. I also just wanted to note for anyone who may be interested, the color is the same as Rimmel's nude delight (exact dupe in my opinion) and the Rimmel one generally retails for less. Edit/Update: The more I am using this product, the more I dislike it. The color does not stay on my lips at all; within minutes the color seems to fade and I find myself constantly reapplying. The texture of the lipstick is also very bad. It is rough and not creamy at all. As a result, I've changed my rating to one lippie.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Moisture Renew - Nude Delight
peppermintcupcakes 6/23/2010 10:56:00 PM
This is 'ok'. I bought this on sale and I would probably only consider repurchasing if it was on sale for super cheap. It looks like a great shade in the tube and when swatched on the back of my hand it appears to be a perfect nude with just a subtle hint of pink so that you don't look completely dead when it's on your lips. However, it is not highly pigmented and when using on the lips, I find that it comes off quite sheer. It takes quite a few swipes over and over again on my lips for any of the color to show up, otherwise, my natural lip color shows. The hint of pink also doesn't work as well with my skin tone when on my lips as I first thought (but I didn't consider that in my rating as that was my misjudgement and not the fault of the product but I figured I would mention that anyway). It's a weird sort of hint of pink that just doesn't look quite right on me. It's also not as moisturizing as it seems like it would be but it's not drying either - ie; I wouldn't be dying for lip balm if I used this alone without gloss. It also has a strong (slightly odd) scent...baby powder scent (?) to it which I don't mind but definitely do not love.

Lipstick -Revlon - Matte Lipstick - Nude Attitude
peppermintcupcakes 6/23/2010 10:46:00 PM
I gave this product a really high rating because it has what I have been looking for in a nude color lipstick. With that said, there are drawbacks to this lipstick but I felt that the positives more than outweighed the negatives (for me personally). So, the good stuff (or what I consider the pros of this product, not everyone may see these things as a pro): -VERY nude. If you're looking to really take the color off your lips, this will do it. -matte. -good basic nude that works well with a strong smokey eye. -lasts quite a while, even through eating. -no discernible scent of any kind, does not taste funny. -quite pigmented, I don't have to apply a lot of layers just to get the color on my lips. The down side (but heavily outweighed by the good stuff): -dry. Yes, this lipstick is dry and therefore will settle into the creases of your lips. In order to rectify this, use a lipgloss on top. I found that paired with a lipgloss, the dryness is not an issue anymore. Overall, I would say that I do love this lipstick because I want one that will really "white out" my lips when I have a heavy smokey eye look going. I've tried other nude lipsticks and it's just not the same. It does have to paired with a lipgloss at all times but this is as close to a perfect nude lipstick that I have come across thus far.

Lip Gloss -Rimmel - Vinyl Bronze
peppermintcupcakes 6/23/2010 10:30:00 PM
I'm really surprised to see such a low rating for this product by others because I really like it. It's not sticky, gives a good shine/bronzing color and has an amazing orangey citrus scent. It works well alone and also plays well with lipsticks. The one I own is in golden goddess and I would definitely say that this is something I would repurchase. I've actually not been a big Rimmel fan in the past as I tried other products and was not happy with it but this gloss redeemed the brand for me.

Lipstick -New York Color - Ultra Last Lip Wear in 413B
peppermintcupcakes 6/1/2010 10:27:00 PM
This is a very cute pink/peachy shimmery color. I find that it's a good summer shade and gives a good 'fresh' look. The downside of this lipstick is that I find it too shimmery. The sparkles that are in it are too big and it gets a bit drying.

Lipstick -New York Color - Ultra Moist Lip Wear - 301B - Cafe
peppermintcupcakes 6/1/2010 10:22:00 PM
It is a frosty dark mauvy color. It goes on quite well and isn't drying like other lipsticks that I own. The only minor annoyance with this product is that I sometimes find that it can be too frosty if you use a bit more when trying to get more pigmentation/color on your lips. For the price, worth the buy.
