Moisturizers -Sebamed - Clear Face Care Gel

A good moisturiser that does not leave my face feeling oily or greasy after application. Even after a few hours, my face remains matte and hydrated. After trying and trashing so many other moisturisers (clinique, neutrogena, garnier, etc), this one seems like it's for keeps. I've used it for 2 weeks and so far, it's holding out. *two thumbs up*

Toners -Burt's Bees - Garden Tomato Toner
peony_k 8/7/2009 10:55:00 AM
Finally! There's a physical store selling Burt's Bees products in Singapore! ION at Orchard opened with a blast 2 weeks ago and the Sephora store in this building houses a small range of Burt's Bees goods. It took me a while to make a trip to town because my sis warned me about the throngs of people swarming the place. THankfully, I had half a day off work today and could make a quick stopover at ION. The building is a maze of high end boutiques! I had to navigate using the directory to locate Sephora. This branch is much bigger than the one at Takashimaya. Thumbs up! Among the endless shelves of beauty elixirs, I spotted my heart's desire and zoomed in on it without second thoughts. Sadly, there was only one miserable, lonely shelf of it. The prices are a little more pricey than the online store I usually frequent. However, Sephora offers some products not sold by the online store. I HAD to buy something since I made a special trip there! So, I picked up the toner in question and paid a good S$25 for it. When I reached home, the only thing on my mind was to try out my new find. After I washed my face, I very gingerly poured some of that potion out onto a cotton pad. I was so afraid of spilling that stuff! I brought it close to my face, took a whiff of it, and was giddy with anticipation. It smelt heavenly! Ooohhhh!! Must feel better on the face, i suppose. Took a swipe on a pink spot on my face (from a potential blemish) and it stung! Yoouch! Man, I must hold out! I had high hopes for this! Gritting my teeth, I survived the toning routine. I must say the concoction that boasts of being almost 100% natural burns. Despite its sweet scented cloak, it really made my skin tingle more than a little. The sensation subsided after a few seconds. It was pretty ok then. I put on my regular moisturiser and hit the sack. When I woke up, the "on-the-way" pimple seemed to have reduced in size as well as soreness. Not too bad! It might be the alcohol wreaking havoc initially but the toner took off a sizable amount of grime cos the cotton pad turned a shade of grey after I toned. Post-toning is good, no complaints! I'll need to monitor a while longer to see if the honeymoon period fizzles out.

Powders -Burt's Bees - Baby Bee Dusting Powder
peony_k 7/22/2009 7:02:00 AM
Always feeling a little cheated because Burt's Bees is really pricey and rare in Singapore. I got this bottle from an online store selling natural products for Moms and kids for S$18. That's really steep for a bottle of powder but considering it's 99.63% natural, all misgivings fly out of the window. I was so eager to use it when the parcel came! I use it as a body and face powder. It is off pink in colour and smells really soothing. Not cloying like the usual baby powders. Its texture is a tad rough but I guess it is due to the cornstarch. No marks off for this because non-talc powders usually are like this, I suppose. The powder rates excellence for keeping dampness away. On the face, it keeps the oil at bay too. Usually in SIngapore's humid climate, the oil production on my face functions at top speed but with the powder, I don't get any shine, even way into the evening! Very very good! I wish the new Sephora store at ION orchard is really going to bring in Burt's Bees. The icing on the cake is... 80% of the plastic container is recycled material. That's really responsible manufacturing. Well done!

Scrubs -Burt's Bees - Citrus Facial Scrub
peony_k 6/29/2009 10:28:00 AM
In Singapore, it's so very hard to get one's hands on Burt's Bees products and when you finally get to see them on the shelves of a store, it's terribly expensive! I bought one jar of this for USD7 plus when I visited America last year. It worked so well I HAD to get one to replace the one I used up. It cost me $28 in Singapore! Gosh, that really burnt a hole in my pocket. But I had to part with my moolah because this jar of goopy brown stuff really worked miracles on my face. I was having cystic acne that popped up more regularly than I exercised! This scrub (which I use daily) sloughed the dead skin off, made my skin softer and the pores smaller. Initially (in the first 3 weeks), I was experiencing a lot more outbreak than usual (purging, I guess?) but I held out and emerged a winner! I got fewer and fewer of those pesky, icky pests of a pimple. I still have one or two now but it's way better than before. I am in love with this product and use it sparingly so that the $28 can last me longer. I've begged my friend who's visiting the States to help me buy a jar back. How I wish she'd be back sooner!

Moisturizers -Garnier - Pure A Daily Treatment Moisturiser
peony_k 8/29/2008 10:42:00 PM
I was a little skeptical about the product at first because the Garnier products I have used in the past have been a little less than disappointing. But, I mastered up the pluck to buy this because my oily/dry skin was peeling on the surface doubled with the threat of simmering breakouts. What had I to lose anyway except some money (which I deem to be quite affordable: S$12.90)? So I picked this up from the shelves and trooped to the cashier, praying fervently it would work its miracle like what others who reviewed the product raved. Boy, was I impressed! I used Avene thermal water to spray a fine mist on my face first then applied the Pure A moisturiser over it then it felt so good I almost cried with joy! No tightness or heavy oily feel! Yoohoo!!! The next morning when I woke up and inspected my face, there were no peels, no imminent pimple eruption! I was happy the whole day! I hope the results last! There were only 2 tubes left on the shelves of the pharmacy when I bought it. Now, I have this urge to go sweep some more off the shelves because I am afraid they will discontinue the product! You know how it is with things you treasure and like. Somehow they'll find a way to disappear from your life!
