Shampoo -Alterna - Bamboo Abundant Volume
peepeepod 3/20/2013 10:59:00 AM
I really do like this shampoo but it's a love/hate relationship. I say this because this shampoo does not give my hair much "oomph", although it doesnt make it look bad, either. It does clean well and leave my scalp feeling healthy instead of irritated like many "healthy" shampoos tend to do. I like the fact that it doesnt have anything in it to strip my color and it's so gentle. I HATE the packaging and the smell. This is why I say that I have a love/hate relationship with it. It's good points outweight it's bad. If you want clean hair with some volume, and you hate nasty chemicals that dry your hair and irritate your scalp, then THIS is your shampoo. I keep it in my rotation for sure.

Treatments -Phyto - Phytodensium Anti-Aging Mask

Wowsa! I didnt think this would do much for me, but it DID! New HG conditioner. I only plan on using it once or twice a month or for special events/occasions. I'm not sure how moisturing it is, it did seem to condition reasonably well but I was more impressed with how it settled down my frizzies and gave my fine hair tons of body. Impressed! I wish they would make the matching shampoo sulfate free, then I'd be sold on that too!

Shampoo -Neutrogena - Anti-Residue Shampoo
peepeepod 1/28/2013 5:25:00 PM
I use sulfate free shampoos on a regular basis and I usually coat my hair with many styling products/hair sprays. When my hair gets limp and feels dirty, doesnt hold a style, etc...I know it's time to bring out the Anti Residue shampoo. I'm NEVER without this. I use it every so often (1-3) times per month. The shampoo is very dryng if if you overdo it but used correctly, it will rid your hair of buildup and leave it shiny. I've used this since High school and it will always be a staple in my haircare arsenal.

Styling Products -Living Proof - Full Thickening Cream
peepeepod 6/24/2012 7:22:00 AM
HG of volumizing products! My hair was going through a weird limp stage (dieting hormones stress), I did some research on haircare products and this got rave reviews on the Sephora site, I had to give it a try. BTW, Im a huge fan of the shampoo and conditioner...I think the line performs best when you use it in tandem with their other products. I swear I do not work for living proof!! This stuff just works for me. It gives realistic volume, doesnt make my hair feel sticky or coated..the only drawback is it does seem greasy if you use too much, as it's also very conditioning. When used correctly (a dime size does it for me and I have long fine hair)..it WILL provide outstanding volume and texture. I'm not a fan of heat styling but the instructions say to blow dry hair once you've combed the product in....I just put my dryer on a very low heat setting, turn my hair upside down and voila! I'd like to experiment with this without having to blow dry...but lately my hair has been regaining volume so I'll just keep it for the winter drabs...

Shampoo -Living Proof - Full Shampoo
peepeepod 6/16/2012 10:55:00 AM
HG!!! I'm ready to throw away all my other thickening shampoos as THIS is the best one I've ever used, it REALLY does thicken up my hair. I've used Alterna, Morroccanoil, etc etc....although those are considered top salon brands, they don't compare to living proof. This shampoo really gets my hair clean, lathers up really well considering it's sulfate free....and does not have the yucky sillicones in it. It does not feel heavy and drying like other volumizing shampoos, rather...it gives the hair natural body and life. The only downside is its price, so I wil only use when I want my hair to look extra good. For you fine haired ladies, you must try this one, it will work wonders and is a life saver...I barely had to use hairspray and my hair fell into place nicely...extra plus, since my hair looks so good, no more flat irons, curling irons, etc...perhaps it will mean healthier fuller hair in the future as well...

Blush -BeneFit Cosmetics - Bella Bamba
peepeepod 5/15/2012 4:47:00 PM
I got this as a beauty insider promotion at Sephora since it was free, I couldnt lose. I really was not expecting much BUT, this is HG for me. The trick is to pat the brush, not rub it through the entire brush as it will go on pretty heavy. Its very pigmented so alittle goes a long way. It makes me look healthy, younger, glowy, etc. What more could you want from a blush? It has some shimmer in it but not like a disco glitter, rather just glowy. I'm saying goodbye to highlighter and MAC blushes and hello to this.....by the way, Im NC-20 so either blush is too light and makes me look dead or too bright and makes me look like a clown, this is just right.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 Liquid Liner in Perversion
peepeepod 4/22/2012 8:58:00 AM
This is one of the best liquid liners that I've ever used. Definitely HG material. If you want a pitch black sharp line, this is it. I do the cat eye with this liner...it is a bit tricky and takes some practice but its worth it. It stays on ALL day, doesnt fade, is waterproof. No need to worry about reapplying my eyeliner for the rest of the day, once its on, its ON...you just have to let it dry. This beats MAC's boot black, which would smear and was even harder to apply. This is a MUST for anyone who loves eyeliner.

Cleansers -Fresh - Soy Face Cleanser
peepeepod 1/30/2012 11:28:00 AM
I got a packet sample of this from Sephora, being that I LOVE Fresh products, I thought I'd automatically love this too. Well, I was wrong..I really didnt like this whatsoever. The smell is overpowering and reminds me of a jar of dill pickles, I love pickles but not to wash my face with them... It has no lather, which is ok....supposedly lather is drying although I prefer my tried and true HG oil of olay foaming facial cleaners to this. On top of the awful spell and consistency, I didnt even feel that it was doing a good job at cleaning off my makeup and other gunk on my face from the entire day. I'll have to pass on this one...

Eyeliner -Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink
peepeepod 1/23/2012 2:51:00 PM
I needed to replace my MAC gel eyeliner in Blacktrack and couldnt get to a MAC counter so I tried this, instead. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised. I think its better than MAC by far. First of all, the color is still very BLACK but in a more mature, sexy, kind of way and less like a harsh drag queen MAC kind of way. I can even make a thick line without looking like I'm impersonating an Egyptian. This gives me a sexy cat eye but yet mature and demure. The quality is very high end and it doesnt wipe off or get runny. Im looking forward to graduating to Bobbie Brown products, for sure.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Thickening Spray
peepeepod 1/23/2012 2:20:00 PM
What a waste of money! I shelled out $9 for a tiny bottle of this stuff and it does absolutely NOTHING. The only thing it did was make my hair alittle sticky and my scalp itch. Waste of money. I'm glad I didnt buy the full size. Most B&B products do not work for me, I don't know why I even entertained this "thickening spray" as having potential. UPDATE: I found out that this DOES add some volume to wet hair if you blow dry..otherwise, it does nothing. Plus, the volume is minimal...Living proof volume cream works much better. B&B products just dont work for me..

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara
peepeepod 10/7/2011 3:20:00 PM
I have been using this for awhile, based on some of the hype and it being "one of the best" mascaras according to many of the fashion/beauty magazines. This is not a bad mascara, however...when I went back to using Lancome Hypnose, I realized that I should have never abandoned my HG Lancome for this stuff. Hypnose gives me those dollface huge volumized lashes while Diorshow is just mediocre with a strong rose smell. If you want dramatic lashes, Diorshow will not achieve them. I will still use Diorshow when I want to merely darken my lashes, as it does not do much else for me, Im a big fan of huge lashes so I'll have to give this a thumbs down.

Hair -Moroccanoil - Glimmer Shine Spray
peepeepod 10/7/2011 3:14:00 PM
Wow, this is sure expensive but is it worth it? YES YES YES! This is the last step when styling my hair and definitely gives my hair movie star shine like no other. The scent is fabulous and it also seems to condition my hair. I've been noticing less and less shedding the more I use the Moroccan oil products. So far, I'm using the shampoo and the conditioner, the hairspray and also the glimmer spray. The trick to using this spray is to hold it way above your head and give it a few sprays, don't overdo it or it won't do anything but make your hair look greasy. I have fine hair and this does not make me look like a stringy oil slick like most other "shine sprays" that i've used in the past. I can honestly say that this is HG material, which is too bad, since all my new faves are now so expensive.

Lipstick -MAC - Hue
peepeepod 10/5/2011 11:50:00 AM
LOVE IT! This is my HG lipstick next to Pink Plaid. I am NC-20 so I'm very fair, however...this does not wash me out, its just the right hint of pink/peachy that I love. For a glaze, this is very pigmented. I love this shade when I'm doing a smokey eye or if Im just into a mininal makeup look. Not drying, has good staying power, I'm in love!

Styling Products -Moroccanoil - Luminous Hairspray
peepeepod 10/5/2011 11:47:00 AM
This is not a strong hold hairspray but rather a "clean" spray which will give your hair a little bit of hold and some texture/body. I use it as a working hairspray when Im ironing or curling my hair as it doesnt make it sticky. I love the way it smells, it even gives your hair a bit of shine. I'm not dissapointed in it, I would repurchase as Im a huge fan of all the Moroccanoil products. If you are looking for a strong hold, you will be dissapointed however, if you have fine hair and hate the sticky filmy gook that "stronger" hairsprays usually have..then give this a try!

Shampoo -L'Oreal - EverSleek Intense Smoothing Shampoo
peepeepod 3/8/2011 4:04:00 PM
I thought I'd give this a try as Im now only using Sulfate-Free shampoos. Normally, I only use Salon shampoos as my hair is fussy, but I wanted to give drugstore shampoos a chance, since this is sulfate free. I really wanted to like this as the packaging is catchy, the ads with JLO are flashy and her hair looks great. The shampoo itself isnt terrible but as I was trying to run it through my hair, it felt like it refused to sink in and wasnt getting into my scalp at all. I had to use more and more, until it started to make my wet hair feel tangled and crunchy. I couldnt get my hair clean for the life of me. Let me also say that my hair is very limp/fine/has a tendency to get very greasy and I only wash it every 3 days. Finally, I did a THIRD shampoo with my normal Alterna shampoo...finally it felt clean! So, all in all, this shampoo did nothing for me other than cause a nuisance in the shower. It also made my hair feel limp and too slimey, I like my hair alittle lifted and rough as it gives it body. I prefer volumizing shampoos for the most part. I don't feel that its a terrible shampoo if it works for you...as it simply just does not work for me. I will stick to salon brands, even if they are pricey.
