Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Extended Moisture Hand Cream

Best drugstore hand cream I have tried so far. It really does make very, very, very dry skin soft and the softness does last for 48 hours. I like that it sinks in fast and is not sticky. I went right back to the store and bought more tubes. It really is that good!
Avon Instant Mocha is the color I have consistently used for 25 years as my go-to shade. It really brightens up my face and goes with my skintone very well. It is definitely MLBB for me. It is versatile for both a natural look or an evening look depending on how I do my eye makeup.
Mascara -Maybelline - Full 'N Soft Mascara Waterproof

I purchased this in Very Black. I wanted to love this but it didn't work for me. I liked the color and the way it made my lashes look natural. However, within a few hours, it started flaking badly. By the end of the day, it had smudged and I had raccoon eyes.
Treatments -Burt's Bees - Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream
patticat68 2/25/2012 3:31:00 PM
I bought this because I thought it would help moisturize my cuticles and help with my nails which are prone to cracking and peeling. It's quite waxy and hard in the container which makes it difficult to get enough product to rub into my fingers. It's also greasy and takes a lot of rubbing to get it to sink in. The scent is nice and lemony but isn't very strong. Overall, it's ok, but I like Lush's Lemony Flutter more.
This product is marketed for men, but if I like it and it works for me, who cares. This is great to use when you need a strong body wash to cut through the grime. This does not contain any antibacterial ingredients. I used to use the regular Dial Gold antibacterial bar soap, but this body wash is better because it is not as drying to my skin and rinses clean. I will definitely keep purchasing this even though it is hard to find sometimes. The only change I would make in the packaging would be to change the cap. It seems like it would break off easily. The fragrance is very clean and lingers. It's a really heavy clean scent like Irish Spring and is not a very heavy masculine scent like Axe. I prefer a stronger, cleaner scent like this one from Softsoap after a sweaty workout, but it doesn't have an antibacterial ingredient that may be desired by some people.
Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Dial For Men 3-D All Day Odor Defense Body Wash

This product is marketed for men, but if I like it and it works for me, who cares. This is great to use when you need a strong body wash to cut through the grime. This contains triclosan so it is antibacterial as well. I used to use the regular Dial Gold antibacterial bar soap, but this body wash is better because it is not as drying to my skin. I will definitely keep purchasing this. The bottle has ridges which makes it very easy to hold. The only change I would make in the packaging would be to make it see-thru so that I can judge how much is remaining in the bottle. The fragrance is nice and doesn't linger heavily. It's not a really heavy clean scent like Irish Spring but it also isn't a very heavy masculine scent like Axe either. I prefer a stronger, cleaner scent like Softsoap's Active Ocean Fresh bodywash after a sweaty workout, but the Softsoap doesn't have an antibacterial ingredient.
I like the way the cream sinks in and it moisturizes well. Between this one, Dream Cream, and Sympathy for the Skin, Coco sinks in the fastest and suits my skin best so far. It's one of the few moisturizers that actually last more than one day on my skin. It didn't immediately sting my skin in places where I had scratched too hard on my winter-dry skin like others I have tried. I wish it came in a bottle or tube. I don't like putting my fingers in a pot, but decanting a little at a time in a smaller container helps with that. The smell is a very nice light, almost unscented type of scent. I like the scent more than Dream Cream's overpowering scent. I like that the light scent won't clash with a perfume. It is quite pricey though. It's lovely, but I will keep looking for another moisturizer that is as nice but cheaper.

Lotions/ Creams -Aveeno - Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion
patticat68 8/13/2011 4:00:00 PM
This review is for the Aveeno Active Naturals Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion Fragrance Free version. I have this in the tube version so it's easier for traveling. I love this lotion. It soothes my itchy dry skin without stinging or burning like other lotions and creams for itchy skin. It sinks in fairly quickly without being sticky even in the summer and leaves my skin feeling soft and moisturized for more than a day. It's thicker and creamier than usual lotions and being fragrance free means that I can use it all over without triggering fragrance-induced headaches.
As far as body creams from BBW go, I like the creamy moisturizing formula, but some scents are too strong to wear all over the body. I like this body cream because of its light scent. I can have the benefit of all-over moisturization but without the fragrance-inducing headaches caused by some of their stronger scents. With their stronger scents, I tend to prefer the perfume or body splashes more because they can be used in smaller amounts. It really doesn't make much sense to use a small amount of body cream or lotion on a small area and use an unscented lotion or cream everywhere else. It's somewhat expensive at full-price for the quality so it's best to stock up during their sales.
Scrubs -Bath and Body Works - True Blue Spa Toe the Line Foot Scrub
patticat68 8/13/2011 2:47:00 PM
It's an average foot scrub. It exfoliates ok but it's not a heavy-duty exfoliator. If it had more pumice, it would be better. It works as well as cheaper foot scrubs. It has peppermint oil in it which is irritating to my cracked feet if it is in a lotion, but isn't as irritating in this scrub. It leaves my feet feeling nice afterwards, but I would prefer something scrubbier and exfoliates more. I will continue to use this until I find something better.
I love this foot cream for its moisturizing properties and creamy texture. It sinks right in quickly. However, I won't repurchase because the mint stings and burns my feet if they have any cracks. It is difficult to find a foot cream that doesn't have mint or menthol in it. I gave this away to someone else and used the True Blue Spa Lay It on Thick Body Cream for my feet until I found the Curel foot cream.
Cleansers -Dove - Gentle Exfoliating Daily Facial Cleanser
patticat68 8/13/2011 2:27:00 PM
It is a very gentle cleanser and doesn't strip my skin. It's not very exfoliating though. It's an ok cleanser for cleaning a bare face, but I need something stronger to completely remove makeup.
I was so sad when this product was discontinued. Solely because of MakeupAlley, I was able to discover the wonderful world of Japanese sunscreens. My facial skin could never tolerate facial sunscreens from the U.S. because they are very irritating to my skin and would melt off and burn and sting my eyes with the slightest bit of sweating in summer. This doesn't even feel like a sunscreen. It is not greasy and it protects very well. It is also very makeup-friendly. Thanks to the MakeupAlley Skin Board alerting me to it being discontinued, I was able to purchase several backups to use while I search for my new HG.
I found this online in tube form as I only saw the tub version in stores and I prefer tubes over tubs. For a cream, it has a thinner, lighter consistency than most creams and is more like a lotion. Since it is lighter, it is great to use in summer. I haven't tried the lotion version so I can't compare the cream vs the lotion. It has been a huge lifesaver for healing my severely dry and irritated skin. It sinks in very well and my skin stays moisturized for a long time. Other things that soothe my skin work as a barrier protectant. This has ingredients that actually help heal and rebuild the skin barrier. It is a great product to use if your skin barrier has been compromised. It's fragrance-free and doesn't sting or burn broken skin.
