Concealers -Collection 2000 - Lasting Perfection Ultimate Wear Concealer
paranoiaa 4/28/2013 10:04:00 AM
I've just started using this a few days ago, having just finished my Rimmel Match Perfection concealer. The first time I used this I found it cakey and kind of dry but after I realized it was really pigmented and I only needed very little of it, it became my favourite concealer to mask my acne/acne scars and superrrrr dark undereye circles. Not only does it cover the blemishes almost completely, it is also very long lasting, as the name suggests. It is probably the only concealer that I've ever tried still looks as fresh as when it was first applied after a 10 hour work day. I took one star off however, because it can be a biiiiiiit drying, so do remember to moisturize well before application. My favourite way to apply this is with the Sigma P80 Precision Flat brush, which I use to stipple the concealer over whatever spots I intend to cover. I use the medium shade for my NC25-30 skin, which is a great match. I will keep rebuying it when it runs out.

Mascara -E.L.F. - Studio Mineral Infused Mascara
paranoiaa 1/26/2013 9:43:00 AM
I LOVE this mascara. I love the shape and flexibility of the wand; it allows for all my lashes to be coated without clumping and is not so big that it would touch my lids and leave black dots (which is a problem I have with many other mascaras). I'm on my second tube and the brush is a little different from the first that I've tried (more tapered and slightly curved), but to be honest both tubes work equally well. Now the best part about this mascara is that it does NOT smudge, at all. I go to work in the morning with this mascara on and ten hours later, there are still no smudges to be found under my eyes. This is impressive, considering that it is not marketed as a waterproof mascara. In fact, it beats all the waterproof mascaras that I have tried! It is super easy to remove as well, which is a plus. For those who think that the mascara is too light to make a big difference to their lashes, here's a tip: Apply one coat of the mascara to your lashes first. Let dry, and then apply another coat. This allows for a more dramatic effect, and since it does not dry to a crisp on your lashes, the additional coat will not result in a spidery-lash look! In all, for the price, this mascara is truly HG-material. Moreover, the ELF website often have sales/discounts, which makes the mascara even more affordable. Hope ELF will never stop making this!

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Super Liner Luminizer
paranoiaa 11/16/2012 4:29:00 AM
I got this in the colour Black Amethyst for hazel eyes as an extra in a blogsale and I didn't think too much of it since I've had a regular Super Liner in black before and it didn't wow me or anything... however, I got bored one day and decided to put this on, and I've got to say, I was BLOWN AWAY! I have brown eyes like most Asians, and the purple in the liner really enhanced my eye colour. Moreover, the applicator is FANTASTIC. I typically have trouble with eyeliner because my lashes always get in the way and my hooded lids don't help either, but it was really easy to get a thin and smooth line with this liner. I'll repurchase when I run out of this, hope it never gets discontinued!

Mascara -Kiss Me - HEROINE MAKE long and curl mascara (black)
paranoiaa 8/22/2012 6:06:00 AM
Heroine Make is a kind of expensive Japanese drugstore make up brand. I've been using much cheaper brands before this (Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumizing and Essence Multi Action Smokey Eyes), so this was sort of a splurge for me. Having used volumizing ones before this I was rather let down by the effects that this mascara gives, but of course I know it is strictly for length and curl only, judging by the claims on the packaging. The mascara has sort of a wet consistency but isn't too runny which is good, and the wand is has many plastic spikes which coat the lashes thoroughly. Length wise I think it does quite a good job; my lashes look slightly longer than they usually are with just two coats, however, it doesn't give a curl whatsoever, so I end up with long and flat lashes which aren't a good look. They also dry hard so my lashes are pretty stiff afterwards, which I don't really like. I don't know if I am expecting too much, but for the money I think I'll stick to my cheaper drugstore finds. I would not repurchase.

Hair Styling Tools -Unlisted Brand - Tangle Teezer
paranoiaa 5/3/2012 11:30:00 AM
Only the second night I've had this but I gotta say...THIS CHANGED MY LIFE. I have the WORST hair texture ever: Super fine, super tangly and traps moisture for some reason, so it never dries properly. THEN the tangle teezer entered my life. I ordered this off ASOS the moment it was made available, not the cheapest I've got to say, and not the sleekest-looking, but it really does its job. I haven't been able to run a comb or brush through my hair without tearing out clumps from the scalp because it's so tangly, but the tangle teezer just makes brushing a breeze. In fact it's right next to me on my desk and I'm tempted to use it every 5 minutes because it is so relaxing to be able to brush through my hair without having any hair breaking off. And not only does it fix the tangle problem, I noticed that my hair looks a lot shinier these coupl'a days, and it actually dries pretty fast (i suppose because there are no more clumps of tangles stopping the hair from drying). Well, long story short, I WOULD DEFINITELY buy this again. No questions asked.

Brows -E.L.F. - Eyebrow Kit
paranoiaa 5/1/2012 4:37:00 AM
This must be the best brow kit, ever! First, it is SO cheap, I got this for around $3? I use Light for my medium brown hair. The brush is actually more than adequate for my daily use, which is surprising because the brushes that come free with palettes are typically useless. I used to only use the wax side to fill in my very Asian (think: sparse) brows, and thought the powder side was completely useless, until I watched Essiebutton on youtube (non-affiliated), who uses only the powder side. Now I use the powder side first and lightly brush the wax over when I'm done, and it gives a much softer look. It's been months since I bought this, and I still have a ton of product left. Given the price, the quality and the packaging, I'd say this is an awesome product! I'll never stray, and I'd also recommend it to anyone who needs some help in the brows department.

Eyes -E.L.F. - Eyeliner & Shadow Stick
paranoiaa 2/9/2012 3:03:00 AM
Hum. I just got this product recently in brown/basic, and I really don't get the low ratings... because I REALLY LIKE IT! The liner side is a dark brown/gold colour and the shadow side is a bronzey-gold shade, and I haven't quite worn them together, but they each function really well on their own. I'm wearing the shadow side today and they really brighten up my eyes with the golden shimmer, and last week I wore the liner on my upper and lower lashlines (over primer) and they just make my eyes stand out so much more without smudging. These come really cheap (3 USD each) and are easy to wear (don't need any special tools, just fingers), which is great for a college student like me who don't have much cash nor time but want to look good in a jiffy ;) Will definitely repurchase when I'm out of it!

Lip Treatments -Blistex - Raspberry Lemonade Blast with SPF 15
paranoiaa 11/30/2011 11:07:00 AM
Bought this today because my lips were so dry, they were flaking RIGHT off. This smells like raspberry icebreakers, which were my favourite! Anyway, it has a very smooth and emollient texture, and by nighttime my lips were nearly fully recovered. Amazing stuff. Will repurchase!

Eye Shadow -E.L.F. - Studio Line Single Eyeshadow in Raspberry Truffle
paranoiaa 11/27/2011 4:34:00 AM
Didn't think I'd like this for two reasons: 1. I bought a coppery toned E.L.F. cream eyeshadow recently and the reddish tone in it really brought out the redness in my skin, which was not pretty. I thought this would come out rather coppery as well, judging from the name/reviews 2. There was a scrape in the pan when I first got it (but I couldn't be bothered to return it, so I just sanitized it on my own) BUT, I couldn't resist myself, because it looked sooooo pretty in the video by AModelRecommends (not affiliated!) and was so cheap, so I thought, well, whatever I'll just give it a go. And BOY... am I glad! This was a brown/bronze/gold on my eyelids, which really brought out the colour in my eyes. Also the texture is wonderful... satiny and smooth. Didn't interfere with the redness in my skin. Good stuff, for real cheap. Will keep buying this, again and again!

Blush -E.L.F. - Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder
paranoiaa 11/26/2011 11:29:00 AM
WOW. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do, judging from the way it looks in the pan. Now I'm glad I got it, because the colours are wonderful on my skin! The blush is a pigmented, shimmery coral on my cheeks, and the bronzer is really pigmented as well (though a tad too shimmery for contouring). Combined on my cheeks they impart a healthy glowy look that I REALLY dig ;) Not to mention, this was reaaaaaaaally cheap. I got it for only 6SGD, which is the equivalent of 4.50 USD? I really like the packaging, the mirror is great, as well as the non-slip plastic cover. The only downfall is the amount of fall out I get, but applied at home over the sink = no big deal. I'll probably use this forever judging from the amount in the pan and how little I need. But I'll definitely repurchase.

Liquid -Bourjois - Bio Detox Organic Foundation
paranoiaa 11/14/2011 7:29:00 AM
This is pretty good! I bought it at a discounted price of SGD15, and it was well worth the price for the size. It matches my skin well (I'm about an NC25, and I use 53 for this), doesn't break me out, and smells of watermelon. I put this on with my fingers immediately after applying a thick softener (toner) to make this go on more easily. It stays all day and doesn't smear. Will repurchase!

Pressed Powders -MAC - Blot Powder
paranoiaa 10/28/2011 11:12:00 AM
I LOVE THIS... I use sunscreen in the day as I use a AHA/BHA facial foam in the night, and the blot powder helps to set the sunscreen (and concealer if I used it) and make my skin look perfect, even without foundation. I do get oily after 4 hours or so, but it's normal as I live in a tropical country and I have the typical oily skin, so I can't really blame the powder! This also comes without talc (according to the ingredient list), which is perfect for me as talc really breaks me out. Also, I've gotten this for about a year and despite using it everyday, there hasn't seem to be a dent yet... when I do finish though, I would definitely repurchase :)

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express Turbo Boost Waterproof
paranoiaa 10/26/2011 6:59:00 AM
MY NEW HG MASCARA! I waited some time to purchase this because I wasn't sure, but I'm so, so glad I did. This totally blows all the mascaras I've ever had out of the water. It volumizes, curls and lengthens my lashes, never makes them hard or "crispy", and doesn't budge once it's on. I can sweep coats after coats of it on without having to deal with any clumps. Doesn't smell terrible (MAC zoomfast I'm lookin at ya), doesn't disturb my sensitive eyes... this one is worth its weight in gold. I got it on 30% offer which makes it ever more worth the money. Love this, will repurchase when it's out, even at its regular price. Don't hesitate if you are wondering whether to buy it! Def. recommend this.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Lip Shine- Mauve
paranoiaa 10/3/2011 1:18:00 PM
This is my current favourite! I got it in a swap after reading all the glowing reviews about it. Mauve lip colours are my favourite, but this totally swept my off my feet. Some background information: I have very pigmented lips which fades very quickly to a shade of "zombiesque" when I'm tired/running low on sugars, which is very often. This lipcolour matches the colour of my lips when I'm energized/healthy. Wearing this lipcolour keeps me looking energetic and glowing throughout the day, even when I'm tired and worn out. It has a natural sheen and doesn't feel too waxy, and the additional spf is a plus. When I'm done with this tube, I'll definitely be repurchasing!

Lip Gloss -E.L.F. - Super Glossy Lip Shine SPF 15 - Candlelight
paranoiaa 9/29/2011 3:40:00 PM
I hated this lipgloss for two reasons: Unflattering colour and bad packaging. I'm around a NW25, and this nude shimmery colour just washes me out when worn on its own. Certainly not what I hope to look like in (literal) candlelight! Also, I found it painful to use straight from the tube, as the hole through which the gloss is dispensed is not flushed with the rest of the packaging - meaning to say that the edges are raised and sharp - and the first time I tried applying it, I nearly cut my lips right off! Maybe it's just a bad tube, and for such a low price I probably could make do with other application options (using my fingers/a brush), but the colour simply wasn't flattering and these two factors really did put me off using it. One good point, however, was definitely the SPF 15. But since I already use a high SPF lipbalm (Jackblack/Mac's suntints), this isn't quite necessary... In all, I probably wouldn't purchase it again, at least not in this colour!
