Eyes -Unlisted Brand - Daiso Eyebrow Coat
paralleluniverse 3/20/2013 7:10:00 AM
GIRLS GIRLS GIRLS, GET THIS!! This is a fantastic, bang-for-your-buck cosmetic item that makes your make up last all day!!! After reading rave reviews on blogs, I went and got this for $2.80 at Daiso (I live in Sydney). Now I wish I had bought 3 more since it's become my HG eyebrow and lip finish! I applied this product onto my brows after lightly filling in any sparse areas - brows lasted all day (10 hours +) and when I used my hand to rub back and forth on my brows, my brow hairs stayed in place and so did the pencil strokes. I have also been having a problem with lipsticks - I like my lipsticks to be preferably long-lasting, but yet many lipsticks just aren't. This little gem, however, lets my lipstick last so incredibly well! I applied a beautiful moisturizing lipstick by Face of Australia, then dabbed a little bit of the eyebrow coat onto my lips with an eyeshadow brush. 7 hours later, and after several intense eating sessions, my lipstick was still on - no need to touch up at all! A very good thing about the product is that it is pretty much fragrance-free (but it has a very light chemical smell) and thus it doesn't feel weird on your lips. I would also suggest that you do not touch your brows or lips whilst you are waiting for it to dry, since by allowing it dry, you are effectively putting a "waterproof, smudge proof" barrier between your make up and skin. Anyway, this is a fabulous product, I will continue to buy more once I run out, and I hope that Daiso will never discontinue this! Love love love love.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Temptation
paralleluniverse 12/21/2012 3:58:00 AM
Well I must be in the minority because I honestly thought this lipstick was pretty "meh". The colour is certainly very nice, a nice red shade, however the lipstick is NOT in anyway long lasting at all because of its creamy formula. Moreover this lipstick always feathers outside my already full lips despite blotting and the use of a lipliner!! The packaging is very poor as well - the lid is so loose and often separates from the tube in your bag. I'll be sticking to my MAC lipsticks.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Birthday Suit
paralleluniverse 12/21/2012 3:53:00 AM
Terrible lipstick. The name that Rimmel has given this lipstick is ABSOLUTELY deceiving as the creamy formula is in no way long lasting at all, rubbing off with food and drink extremely easily. Moreover there is a plethora of unsightly glitter particles and the lipstick always feathers outside my lips despite blotting. I also have to say that the packaging is horrendously awful - the bullet case is far too loose and easily slips around inside your handbag. Definitely not recommended.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast Volume Waterproof
paralleluniverse 12/20/2012 3:33:00 AM
Well, this was my first waterproof mascara! The brush looks very daunting since it's very big - but it actually is very easy to apply as long as you are careful to not get the mascara on your lids. The brush has fibres that provide for non-clumpy lashes no matter how many coats of mascara you put on. And since it's a waterproof formula, it holds a curl extremely well, something I look for in a mascara, especially because of my straight Asian lashes. It also makes your lashes more voluminous. Smudging is minimal, just a tiny bit under the eyes after a few hours. I'll definitely say it's not totally waterproof though; quite a bit of smudging does occur. However, it's a great mascara for the price and I'll repurchase this again especially because it holds a curl like no tomorrow, delivers volume and doesn't clump!

Blush -Australis - Paparazzi Perfect Blush
paralleluniverse 12/13/2012 4:42:00 AM
Gorgeous blush! I have it in Shoot to Thrill, a mix of 3 pink shades. The packaging is typical Australis, with black and pink writing - very classy. Also comes with a handy big compact mirror and a convenient sheet of plastic (so the mirror doesn't get entirely messy from the blush fall out). There's a lot of pigmentation, so apply with a light hand! Also lasts for a reasonable amount of time, and the giant size of the blush means that this will last you a veryyyy long time :-)

Eye Primer -Australis - Eyeshadow Primer
paralleluniverse 12/13/2012 4:36:00 AM
I like this eyeshadow primer, but it's not my HG. It certainly does make eyeshadows more vibrant and eyeliners last a lot longer! Also makes anything on my eyelid pretty close to smude-proof! One bottle has lasted me about 6-7 months. The packaging is very cute - a bright pink tube with a black lid. However the tube is a hassle - it's very hard to get all the product out, and I also like to see how much product I have left...but the packaging doesn't allow this. I'm a bit of a cheap-ass so I like to save money when I can - I consider the price ($12.95) a little steep, and prefer my Etude house Proof 10 Eye Primer ($6.30, and also allows me to see how much product I have left). But overall, not a bad eyeshadow primer at all! Certainly does a good job, and I would repurchase if it was on sale.

Lipstick -MAC - Retro Matte - Ruby Woo
paralleluniverse 12/13/2012 4:25:00 AM
My HG lipstick! I declare lipsticks to be good if they are: long lasting, don't feather outside my lips and make my full lips even fuller. MAC Ruby Woo does all this, and it is such a great sophisticated, red lipstick. It is a matte lipstick that feels drying when you put it on your lips, but the non-creamy formulation means that IT WILL LAST and not feather outside your lips even without a lip liner. And yes, this little baby lasts very well through vigorous drinking and eating! Moreover, it doesn't make my full lips look bad. The packaging is also so lovely - a little black bullet embossed with silver writing, MAC. The scent is also a nice change - I was used to smelling the cheap and overpowering scents of cheaper drugstore lipsticks - but ooh, the subtle smell of vanilla is a very nice touch :-). Even though the price of the lipstick is a little steep ($36 AUD), I will certainly repurchase just for the lipstick's longevity and gorgeous colour. NB: If you find the lipstick drying, put lip balm before applying lipstick and wait for 5 minutes before you wipe it off and apply the lipstick on!

Lipstick -Australis - Colour Inject Mineral Lipstick - Salsa
paralleluniverse 12/13/2012 4:17:00 AM
I really wanted to love this...but sadly I couldn't. Salsa is a gorgeous pink colour, but it just looked funny on my light yellow Asian skin. Moreover, the staying power was not very good, and I found that the creamy formulation slid around my lips even when I blotted. I also didn't like the smell of the lipstick - it was like a sickly sweet, cheapish smell. However, I will say that the packaging is superb, classy and very sturdy with pink writing embossed on the lipstick!

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies
paralleluniverse 12/13/2012 4:06:00 AM
Ugh....this was my first mascara and after using other mascaras, I realised I hated this...for 3 reasons! 1. It lengthens and volumises...but clumps so much, even when you put one coat! And if you want to remove the clump, you need to use a lash comb...or waste product by cleaning the mascara wand. A good mascara will not clump! 2. It smudges under eyes within an hour or two 3. Fails to hold a curl Will not buy again.

Eyeliner -Essence - Long Lasting Eye Pencil
paralleluniverse 12/11/2012 8:37:00 AM
HG eye pencils! Almost every eye product I've tried from essence is great, and this certainly is one of them. I have these in the following shades: Black Fever, Coolest Chic, Tu-tu turquoise, Think Khaki, Cool Down and C'est la vie (I think we can tell how much I adore these pencils :P) and I have around 12 pencils in total. I have to say is that these are oh so cheap ($2.95 AUD) and they are so lovely! Retractable so you don't need to use a sharpener and waste product, the packaging is chic and pretty, and the product does live up to its name - as long lasting and smudeproof with the help of a good eye primer. Also, C'est la vie (gorgeous shimmery silver) may be a little light to be seen as eyeliner, but I have to suggest that it's fantastic as an inner eye highlight and also for the lower lash line (really brightens the eyes). The large variety of shades available means that anyone can find a shade they like. Highly recommended!

Eyeliner -Essence - Eyeliner Pen
paralleluniverse 12/11/2012 7:55:00 AM
Ehhh...for an extra $1, I'd rather spend it on essence gel eyeliner. The eyeliner irritated my lid somewhat, and the black colour faded very quickly. Moreover, it is not long lasting at all and smudges like crazy everywhere! I must also warn people if you rub the non-waterproof version off in the shower, it will sting your eyes so much, so please use a make up remover to remove this! This was a sub-par product from essence, which I am usually a huge fan of.

Eyeliner -Essence - Gel Eyeliner
paralleluniverse 12/11/2012 7:53:00 AM
Love it - my HG gel liners! I have 2: London Baby & Midnight in Paris - both very gorgeous pigmented shades. They are long lasting and for the most part, smudgeproof. Will buy again!

Eyeliner -Essence - Gel Eyeliner - London Baby!
paralleluniverse 12/11/2012 7:49:00 AM
HG gel eyeliner! I've been using this for around 9 months now, and I love it so much! It is so affordable ($5.95 AUD, which is cheap in Australia), it is a true jet - black, very pigmented, creamy and most importantly, it doesn't (and barely) smudges! Packaging is gorgeous, the product is housed in a cute little glass jar, though the labeling at the top may throw people off because it looks a little childish - but don't let it fool you, because this is a great long-lasting smudgeproof product! I've also tested to see if it's waterproof, and YES, it is! Will repurchase again and again.

Eye Primer -Etude - Proof 10 Eye Primer
paralleluniverse 12/11/2012 7:42:00 AM
I love this product! I first started using this around 2-3 months ago, and it is my HG eye primer! The price is so fantastic - I bought it off eBay for $6.30 AUD. The packaging is also very cute - a transparent bottle with a long midnight blue cap that allows you to see how much product you use. The product enhanced the colours of my eyeshadow, making them more vibrant and also maintained the colours for many hours. It also increased the longevity of my thick-ish eyeliner (I have monolids) and prevented them from smudging! Sometimes my eyes get slight creases / slightly hooded, and creasing was still non-existent! Anyway, this is a wonderful primer, and it is so cheap. Cannot recommend more than enough - frankly, I don't see why I need to spend an exorbitant amount of money to have a good eye primer, when etude house clearly has made such a great and affordable eye primer!
